Hooking old PC printer to new Mac Book Pro

I just got a new Mac Book Pro for college and my dad's work partner gave him a printer he got for free through Ford motor Co. a few years ago. Is there a way I can hook the old printer from "Hewlett Packard" to my new laptop?

Hi, Grace. If the printer can only be connected via a parallel printer cable that has huge 25-pin connectors on both ends, you can't use it. If it has a USB port and cable, you can physically connect it, and then you'll need to find and install the appropriate software driver for it, if one exists for the Mac.
What is HP's model number for the printer?

What is your program? You specifically ask about Premiere Elements but your ID = photo shop elements 12.
It is confusing why Reynolds Films 2014 is replying to your thread, talking about Photoshop Elements.
Assuming some version of Premiere Elements currently on some Windows operating system.
What version of Premiere Elements do you have and on what computer operating system does it exist?
How did you install your version of Premiere Elements on Windows - installation files from an online purchase or
from installation disc from purchase of the product in box packaging?
What installation files or installation disc do you have?
You cannot install Premiere Elements Windows installation files on a Mac computer. If you want Premiere Elements
for your Mac computer, you will need to buy a version of Premiere Elements Mac that is supported by your Mac computer.
If you purchased Premiere Elements Windows in box packaging, it probably came with 2 installation discs, one for
Windows and one for Mac. If that is the case, use the Mac installation disc to try to install the program on your
    Mac computer.
But, we need the details from you in order to sort out what is and what needs to be done.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

If you are syncing using iCloud, try going to System Preferences/iCloud (computers) and checking Safari. If it is checked, try deselecting it, wait 10-15 seconds, and then check it again.

  • I have recently transferred data from my old PC to my new Mac Book Pro (Mavericks OS). Each transfer creates a new User account (titled 'Owner', 'Owner 1', etc).  I want to merge the files from these transfers into my main user account.  Help?

I have recently transferred data from my old PC to my new Mac Book Pro (Mavericks OS). Each transfer creates a new User account (titled 'Owner', 'Owner 1', etc).  I want to merge / consolidate the files from these newly created User accounts into my main user account.  Is there a tutorial for this process, or any tips?  Anyone?

Four transfers.  After the initial attempt with Migration Assistant failed (after hours and hours of wifi transfer) I did "mini-transfers" of more manageable, smaller bits of files -- my music in one, photos in another, etc.  Since posting my question in this forum, i contacted Apple support, chatted with Angela, and she suggested getting an ethernet-USB adapter for my mac, connecting my external drive with ethernet and transferring files manually -- that is, NOT using the Migration Assistant at all.  She sent me this link to help:  Switch Basics: Migrate your Windows files to your Mac.  I appreciate your response, tho', Csound1!

  • I need help connecting my old pc to my new mac book pro.

I cannot connect my old pc to my new mac book pro. Can anyone help me through this process. Thx.

OK. Starting with iTunes: Macworld - How to transfer iTunes libraries between PC and Mac.
Get yourself an external hard drive and format it using NTFS on your PC. OS X can read from an NTFS formatted drive. Copy your photos and documents to this drive. Use the drive to transfer you iTunes data via the method outlined in the above linked article. This will prove easier and faster than using a network.
I am not experienced with PC networks. See if this is helpful: Set Up Your Home Network, Windows 7 Edition - PC World.

  • Use old program on a new mac book pro?

I have transferred Adobe programs from my old mac book to my new mac book pro, but I can´t open the programs?

    Henriette,
Unless you transfer the entire contents of the old mac book, as in using what is (elsewhere) know as an Image of the entire harddisk from the old one, I am afraid you will have to get rid of everything (whichever way that is possible) and install everything from scratch just as you would without the old one.

  • Old i-pod and new mac book pro

I have an old i-pod (I think refered to as classic) and an new mac book pro.  I managed i-pod files on sony vios that I no longer have.  I want to connect i-pod to new pro to manage files.  I do not want to lose music.  What is the process to get i-pod to recognize new mac book.

Try going to the app store, in your applications folder.
Then go to the purchases section and if you see iphoto in the selection it should have an install button on the right click that and it will install.

  • Old iMac numbers 08, new Mac Book pro won't let me open numbers without converting to Numbers 09

I bought a new Mac Book Pro and when moving my Numbers and Pages files to the new computer it will not allow me to open the files until I update them to Numbers 09 first.  On my iMac I was running Numbers 08.  Any suggestions how to tackle this issue?
    Thanks,

    Hi onnygirl,
Numbers 3 will not open Numbers '08 documents.
On your iMac, open and then export your Numbers '08 documents to Excel.
Transfer the Excel documents to your MacBook and they will open in Numbers 3.
Numbers is not an Excel clone, so there will be some glitches .
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Transferring some files from old hard drive to new mac book pro: How do I do this?  I bought a SATA Wire, and can't figure out how to get my files

Hi there, my old mac book recently died and I opted to buy a new macbook pro, instead of pouring lots of money into the old computer.  I was able to get my hard drive out, and I bought a 2.5" Sata Nootbook Drive Upgrade Kit.  I have also installed superduper!....but I can't really figure out how to get everything to work.  I just want to be able to take some of my files from my hard drive, not everything...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I don't know what a "2.5" Sata Nootbook Drive Upgrade Kit" is but if you have a internal drive you need to connect all you needed was a $20 IDE/SATA to USB adapter
You don't need Superduper, that's software designed to clone a entire Mac's boot drive to a external drive for bootable backup purposes using the same machine/make/model.
Since the new Mac is different than the old one you can't clone (well you could but it will break the machine) the old drive to the new one.
However you can use the adapter above and software Apple provides in the Utilities folder on the NEW MAC, called Migration Assistant to transfer your User to the new machine.
However this might not be the best course of action as it can transfer unwanted data and cause problems in the Library, old programs that won't run on 10.7, etc.
You can simply create the same named user on the machine (System Preferences > Accounts) log into it and then connect the external drive with the adapter and copy the contents of your users folders over and place into the same.
It's always good to have another Admin level user account on the machine in case the primary one has a User based issue and you need to log into the other and grab files. So if either manually or via using Migration Assistant you wind up with two user accounts on the machine, it's really not that big of a deal.

  • How do I transfer all the information in my iTunes on my old mac book to my new mac book pro so I can sync my devices to the new machine with erasing all the data my iPhone and iPad?

I have just bought a new mac book pro and want to use this machine as the main computer to which I will sync my iPhone and iPad.
How do I transfer the information within iTunes on my old mac book so when I connect the devices the new machine will not erase all my data?
    Thank you

Copy the entire iTunes folder within the music folder on your old Mac to the music folder on your new Mac.
You can use an external hard disc for the transfer, or you can connect the computers together using Firewire Target Disc Mode as explained here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661

  • How do I transfer my iPhoto library from my old Mac Book to my new Mac Book Pro?

I took delivery of my new mac Book Pro at the weekend and was unable to transfer all my data from my old machine at the time of set-up. Can someone tell me how I can transfer my iPhoto library to my new machine while keeping all photos in the events categories I have?
    thanks

    Quit iPhoto if open.
Open your Pictures folder and select the iPhoto Library.
Copy the iPhoto Library folder or package to your new computer.

  • Do I need airport to connect my new Mac Book Pro to a wireless printer?

Do I need Airport to connect a wireless printer to my new Mac Book Pro?

No and you don't have to use the wireless card in your MBP either.
A wireless printer connects to your wireless router. Any other device (computer) that is connected to the router either by wire or wireless will be able to use the printer.
