Hooking up a Panasonic HD 3700B

I'm trying to hook up a Panasonic AJ HD3700B deck and cannot get control. Using regular control cable hooked up to remote in, also setting to mode 1 as directed in the manual. Not getting machine control. Any suggestions?

Maybe this can be of assistance: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/manuals/OM_AJ-HD3700B.HW.pdf

My tv only has one hdmi input and that is currently hooked up to the ps3. So I am wondering what audio/video cables I need to purchase and where to run them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • My iMac can't find my panasonic camera

When I hook up my panasonic Mini DV palmcorder from the "to PC" port on the camera to my iMac thru the USB port, IMovie tells me to hook up the camera.  Camera is hooked up and playing a video.

If iMovie is not recognizing your camera when connected to your iMac, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Premiere pro CS6 and Panasonic AG-DV1000 check status: offline?

So just setting up my new comp....downloaded premiere pro from the cloud and hooked up my panasonic AG-DV1000 to capture some mini dv tapes. The deck is connected via fire wire to my comp, I am running windows 7 professional. when i open the capture screen i set up all the according info in hte dv/hdv device control settings but still cant get the deck online? please help......
    Van

I own that deck, and while I haven't used it with CC, here's a few things to try.
First, at left front of deck, put EDIT MODE switch at PASSIVE, and rotary knob to DV.
With Premiere closed, deck off, disconnect then reconnect 1394 and power on deck. If still not recognized, you may need to change the Windows 1394 driver to the LEGACY version, already in the PC and easy to do, see here - http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/en370145?popup=true

  • G5 + 1080p LCD

    Hey fellas,
I just upgrade my TV from a 720p sharp to a 1080p panasonic. I used an hdmi cable before with no problems. when I hooked up my panasonic, the native resolution was not working properly and the image was flickering on and off and the colors were way off. I managed to open preferences and change the resolution 1280x720, which seemed to fit the screen best and give the most clarity, however the white bar on top of the screen with the file, menu, apple etc tabs is cut off. Now i just turned my computer back on and the color is way off, although the resolution is fine. whites appear blue and blues are red. I did the display calibration, but it didnt fix anything. Any ideas? Thanks for your time!

turning the tv off and on while the computer was on fixed the color issue. however the screen size is still wrong.

  • What Happened? Imovie used to play .mpg with audio.

I have a new Imac 27in. The firsst few days after opening it. I hooked up my panasonic video camera, and uploaded and edited several videos, in .mpg. Now i cannot even get Imoive to recognize a .mpg. I can get quicktime to play the video but without audio. Quicktime used to play the audio also. I never changed any settings. I do not know what happened.
    Any way to fix this.

The Apple cable below is the one I use, but I've also used non-Apple cables with no issues.

  • Archiving AVCHD files

    Hey there,
For those using AVCHD cams I was wondering if someone could share their experiences with archiving their footage.
The way I've done it over the last couple of months is to hook up my Panasonic HMC-151E to the mac and copy over the entire project directory ('PRIVATE') to a folder appropriately dated into my external hard-drive, and then log and transfer in FCP to start working on the edit.
Thus far, to back-up I have just been copying these PRIVATE folders over to another external-drive, along with the rest of the project data.
I was wondering if it is wrong to just copy over these, I did a test with the back-up files and it couldn't locate the original files when I opened up the project on my other mac. I realised my mistake in that I hadn't copied over the actual files that FCP creates in log and transfer, I had just been copying the raw data from the camera to the back-up drive.
I've not tried it yet so if anyone who has could let me know, if you log and transfer these back-up raw files in a FCP project, will it all reconnect OK? I'm still very much a beginner in this process so am wanting to make sure my work is backed up correctly. This has just dawned on me of late, if need be I guess I just copy over the files FCP creates in log and transfer to the back-up drive - it's just that these files are massive so if the way I'm doing it is fine then I'll just stick to that...
Also, if anyone has any advice or pointers on organising the clips I would appreciate that - I tend to import everything and then rename them all when in FCP and organise into sub-folders to work on. When I look into the capture scratch there are a lot of duplicate Clip numbers, so I fear FCP will get confused if I tried to re-connect the media if something went wrong with the original project.
Again, I'm fairly new to all of this, so any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

is there a reason for creating a disk image, rather than just copying the folder?
As Wally pointed out, it creates a fully intact copy with the underlying directory structure unchanged.
Once you have made the Disk Image, it is a closed archive that cannot be modified -when you mount the Image you can still access it's content, just not modify it directly, similar to a CD or DVD.
An open set of folders, even if they do have the correct directory structure when you first create it, can still be re-arranged, have items added or deleted etc. This leaves the possibility of rendering your archive unusable, particularly if you are unaware what, if any changes have been made. (My daughter is old enough to know by now that she shouldn't go tinkering in her dad's video stuff. But this is a recent development).
Disk Utility also gives you the possibilty to make Images that can be modified, but that's not the kind you should be making in this case anyway.

  • G5 (2x1.8) Firewire Dead

    Hi all,
Tonight I went to hook up my Panasonic DVX-100A and my FW drive to grab some footage. The drive refused to mount, and then I noticed that the camera was also not recognized. System Profiler showed "FireWire Bus:" and nothing else... no devices, nada.
Have reset nvram, left unplugged for about an hour, verified perms/disks and all is fine.
Dug up my hardware test CD and it showed no FW devices. It also crashes out to OF after about 6 minutes. That seems kind of bad...
FW devices work fine on an old ibook.
    dmesg/system.log has this:
FWOHCI Error trying to clear PHY ports
Anything else before I start hunting for a Mac-compatible FW card that doesn't cost $50?
Lots of posts about this in the boards, but most deal with 10.3.7.
I'd love for this to be a software issue. For good measure, I'm grabbing the 10.4.6 combo.

As far as I know Apple does not publish revised editions of the hardware test CD to reflect new firmware updates. Also I've never seen a firmware downgrader. The only revision I've seen is of Techtool Deluxe which isn't exactly the same hardware test. Since I've had AppleCare recommend I try the hardware test disk on machines whose firmware has been since upgraded, I don't think that is the issue. I think what is really happening is some unexpected condition has been met by the hardware test disk and it basically has kernel panicked. I could be wrong, though you may want to consult with AppleCare about your specific model to find out if there is a revised hardware test disk.

  • Camcorder question/help

I just got a firewire cable to hook up my panasonic to my mac. Everything connects fine so far it seems but the problem is with my camera. When i view the footage there's no audio and there are thick blue lines going across the screen. I assumed that it was a dirty head because it's doing the same thing on multiple tapes. Is it a dirty head?

    Hi
If it is a miniDV tape Camera.
Run a Cleaning tape in it. Follow instructions on box.
I get about 5-6 graey lines horizontally over my LCD on my Camera
when it got dirty. Sorry it can't warn before. That recorded part
    usually is garbage.

  • Hooking up MacBook to 50" Panasonic Plasma?

I am using the Apple mini-dvi to vga adapter along with a 6' vga cable to hook up my macbook to my 50" panasonic plasma (full specs: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Specifications-of-Panasonic-50-Plasma-HDTV-TH-50P Z700U/sem/rpsm/oid/175537/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)
My problem is that only half (maybe even less) of the listed resolutions for the external display (TV) seem to work. None of them take up the entire screen, and none of them look good. Image is shifted, fuzzy, cropped on top and bottom. OS X does not list 1920x1080 as a supported resolution for the TV.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me? I don't really know what i'm doing here!

    Hi Mike,
If I am not mistaken apple stated that macbook support up to 23" external lcd using 1440 x 900 resolution.
Some user managed to go over 23" and slightly higher resolution. But if the screen doesn't run on its native resolution it will become fuzzy as you described earlier.
Try mini dvi to dvi and get one of the dvi to hdmi adapter like this http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3570, and you might get some luck.
    Good Luck.
Do consult your panasonic or circuit city guy before you decided to give mini dvi to dvi with adapter a shot.

  • Help hooking up IMac Chrome 24" to Onkyo tx-606 to Panasonic Plasma

I have a 24" iMac Chrome, a Onkyo TX-606 A/V receiver and a 50" Panasonic Plasma TV (Can't recall the model, but it is a 720p plasma TV). I ordered the DVI to HDMI cable, from Apple, to hook all this up together. The TX-606 and Plasma work great together with a DVD player and DirectTV box as sources. When I hook up the iMac I get a blue screen on the TV.
I can get the iMac to detect the device. It shows a screen panel for TX-606 and defaults the resolution to 1280x720, which I understand is correct. However, I can't get the TV to display the image. I've cycled the iMac, the TX-606 and the TV to try to get these in synch.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I think it has to do with the TX-606 but, since other devices are working correctly with it I hesitate to blame it.
Where do I start to debug this issue?
    Shouldn't this "just work"?
    Jeaux

hey there Jeaux & welcome to Discussion!
1-is your iMac video & analog stereo connected directly to TV? if so, select the input on the TV to
the one that has the iMac input.
2- is your iMac audio & video connected to the AV receiver? if so, you may need to select the input
on the AVR & the TV. AVRs look for audio inside the HDMI connection like you'd get w/ a BD
player, not separately like you have w/ the iMac.
3-check out the AVS forum for some good info in their Mac HTPC chat. see this:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=115
my 17" CD iMac is DVI>HDMI to my 42" Sony @ 1920x1080i w/ a TOSlink optical to my Sony AVR, so i have a set-up like #1. but if you have a set-up like #2(had similar situation w/ using my HD cable box), i got no image if i didn't select the audio input on the AVR & the video input on the TV.
    good luck.

  • Anyone have their Touch hooked up to a Panasonic Car Stereo?

I have my Touch scheduled to deliver on Monday and I currently get the most out of my current 5G Video iPod in the car which is hooked up to my Panasonic Car Stereo that is iPod compatible. I have tried to ask Panasonic if their current and past stereo models are compatible with the new Touch's and all I get back in reply is "they haven't been tested yet for the Touch." So is anybody else out there successful in getting their new Touch connected to their Panasonic Car Stereo's via the Panasonic iPod cable?

I can confirm that it does work with the DEH-P7900BT model. I have tested that one with the Touch and the 3G Nano. I would assume other models will work as well.

  • How do I hook up Sony Headphones Model MDR-RF985R to a Panasonic TV Model Nbr TC-L37C22?

We purchased these Sony headphones for my 86 year old uncle.  He claims that the Audio output on his Panasonic TV is not compatible with the headphone cables.  We are miles away and cannot physically help him, but we are trying to assist by telephone.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for the instructions.  Apparently the instructions do not work with his TV because the audio ouput jack is a different type of connection on the Panasonic TC-L37C22.  We solved the problem by having him plug the headphones into the audio output on his PVR instead of the TV.

  • I want to display MacBook Pro email videos on my Panasonic TV.  I bought it in Jan 2010, one article says the function is supported on mid-2010 models and later.  Think I can buy the hook ups and get this to work?

I want to display computer contents (email videos, YouTube videos) on my Panasonic HDTV.  Can a model from Jan. 2010 do this?  Thanks.

Yes, easily — but to get the audio to the TV through the same HDMI cable as the video, you'll need an adapter like the ones I linked in this thread:
