Hooking up a projector on macbook white running windows XP SP3 via bootcamp

Dear friends:
I have a question related on how to set a macbook (white) computer to recognize a projector while runnning windows XP SP3 (using bootcamp).
I'm using a mini DVI to VGA adapter.
The first I did was to plug the cable of the projector on the adapter, then I selected second monitor option in display properties (tab settings) and the best I got from there was to extend windows desktop onto the projector, but the thing is that I want to mirror both screens in order to show a full screen presentation on power point.
I played with the screen resolutions of both monitors and I got no success, so I decided to restart the macbook. Initially on both screens from the projector and that of the macbook it appeared the logo of windows xp when booting, but then when the session was started the screen of the projector got black.
I attempted by using F7 key but still got no success.
Could you give me a suggestion on how to solve this problem??, I hope my english was clear so you can understand my problem.
Best regards.
Oscar

Oh k thanks alot for your input. I think my only option is running XP through VM Fusion on my Time Capsule like Eric mentioned. I would have loved to exclude Mac OS X from running at all in the background while I'm on Windows since the programs I'm planning to run on Windows are Memory intensive. That's the whole reason I'm trying not to have windows installed on my macbook HD and have it run independently like it would on bootcamp. Thanks for all your help tho.
If anyone has a different suggestion pls feel free to comment. Thanks

  • No Sound Bluetooth Stereo Headset  - MB Pro running Win XP SP3 via Bootcamp

I have a MacBook Pro Running Windows XP SP3 via Boot camp and I recently purchased a Rocketfish Bluetooth Stereo Headset. I am able to Pair the Headset to the MacBook Pro but I am unable to hear anything playing through them. I have checked to make sure that the volume is turned up. I think the problem might be driver related but, according to the Rocketfish support there isn't a specific driver for the headset. I'm not sure how to get the headset working. One other thing to note is that the headset works perfectly with my Iphone 4.
    I guess my questions are...
How do I find an updated driver for the built in bluetooth on the MacBook Pro?
Does anyone know how to fix the problem that I am having?

So, finally I found what worked for me: Re: Full Bluetooth functionality in Bootcamp (audio, A2DP, FTP, OBEX) third variant, none of first 2 worked.. The only trouble was to find the correct link since on Acer site there is no download link. I've googled for "Bluetooth_Atheros_7.4.0.96_W7x64_A.zip" since this is the archive the guy is actually talking about. The 4th link on google was http://www.laptop-software.com/Acerdriversdownload.php?GDFiles/Driver/Bluetooth/ Bluetooth_Atheros_7.4.0.96_W7x64_A.zip?acerid=634556349384706773&Step1=Notebook& Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%204830Z&OS=721&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6 and I chose to downlad from the first download link. Then the steps are:
    1) unzip the folder
    2) don't look for x64 or x32, there is only a one installer called "Bluetooth_Suite_win7"
    3) install Bluetooth_Suite_win7
    4) after it installs Windows starts downloading and recognizing drivers, I don't know how it actually works, but it also downloaded and recognized the unrecognized before drivers for my Bluetooth headset.
    5) Restart Windows
    6) Turn on headphones - they connect automatically, everything works and works great, the quality of sound is exactly the same as it was on Mac OS, nothing that would bother me.
****, it took me 2 full days... finally...

Did you try a cable? The point is you did not provide any information about: what projector, how you are trying to connect, what happens when you try, error messages if any, does an external monitor work, what computer you have, what OS, etc.

It all depends on what your useage of Windows will be, for playing games install it in BootCamp, for word processing, spreadsheets, email. browsing etc a virtual Machne will be fine.

I am using a Macbook Pro that is running Windows with Boot Camp. I want to connect it to my iMac so that I can use the iMac as a second monitor.
If it is not possible, I also have a TV that I could use using an HDMI, however when I tried this my Macbook Pro running Windows 8.1 did not detect it in the Display Settings.
What are my options? I just want to use my iMac or TV as a second monitor!!

Microsoft store will provide a download manager (.exe) using your Product Key, which needs to be run on a PC. This manager will then let you download an ISO image to a USB and/or DVD.

  • Running windows 8.1 through bootcamp

Hi guys, ive been having some issues with running windows 8.1 on bootcamp and i'd really appreciate some help.
I'm using a 13" Macbook Pro with retina display and, because of the lack of a disk drive, i had to use a usb drive to install windows. I had some trouble retrieving the iso file and so ended up starting the installation process on a pc and choosing the option to install through usb drive to get the usb set up (i'm not sure if this has any relevance but i figured it wouldn't hurt to mention that i didn't use the method of preparing the usb drive though bootcamp with the iso file). The process afterward went smoothly enough until bootcamp reset my computer and restarted using the "Windows" driver. When my computer had completely rebooted i was me with "non-syster error" and a prompt telling me to press any key which was unresponsive. I restarted my computer while holding option and instead chose "efi boot." This brought me to the windows setup but the window was extremely small (also not sure if this has any relevance). I continued with the setup and was met with another problem when I had to choose the drive/partition. I chose drive 0 partition 4:Bootcamp but it didn't allow me to continue. I chose the "more details" option and it said that it needed to be formatted to ntfs. However, when i was back to the mac os after giving up, i checked disk utility and the drive was formatted with ntfs. So i'm sort of out of ideas, i've seen and read about other methods but, i case they are mentioned here, i dont have access to windows seven and i would like to avoid using other programs. I would appreciate if someone would let me know if there is a way to solve this problem and what that is, or let me know if there is no way so that i dont have to keep looking and just wait for apple to solve whatever issues botcamp has.
    Thanks for any response
Also, i'm not sure if this matters but, when asked in bootcamp what size i wanted the windows driver to be, i chose the minimum (20 GB).

thanks, that was exactly what i was looking for, i just wanted to know whether or not i should bother trying to get it installed now or just wait. Do you, by any chance know around what time 8.1 will be supported? If not, thanks anyway, and youve been a big help. no more hours of confusion and searching for possible solutions.

  • Games on Windows 8.1 via Bootcamp run very slow

I've installed a few games on Windows 8.1 via Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2012), like Injustice: Gods Among Us and Darksiders 2 and they're running extremely slow. What should I do?

After a lot of trial and error I have a repeatable process for installing Windows 8.1 on a 2014 MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.
If you have a Windows 8.1 DVD, use Disk Utility to create an ISO image (DVD/CD Master). When done rename the extension to .iso
Use Boot Camp to create a bootable USB that contains Windows 8.1 and Apples drivers (basically check all options). It doesn't matter if its USB 2 or 3, but it is a lot faster if USB 3
Allow Boot Camp to create your Windows 8.1 partition
IMPORTANT. When Boot Camp tries to reboot to begin the installation process, hold the Option key and select MacOS again. If you miss this, force a reboot, holding down Option
Enter Disk Utility and delete the "BOOTCAMP" partition. To do this select the "BOOTCAMP" partition and click Minus
Create a new partition in its place using the ExFAT partition type. Call it "BOOTCAMP"
Reboot again holding Option, this time selecting the Windows USB
When prompted for the partition to install Windows onto, select the one called "BOOTCAMP". It will complain that it isn't the right type. This is perfect. Select Format. Now click Continue
Follow Microsoft's installation steps, ensuring that you allow the installer to finish. It will take a long time and appear to hang with "Almost ready". Just wait. It took about 30 minutes for me. It will automatically start Apples driver installation. Just follow the prompts

I am running Windows XP SP3. Every time I go to the "Music" category so that I can Import CDs and then subsequently play my music, the Tutorial Splash Screen gets in the way and I cannot seem to get rid of it...Since I like iTunes 9 layout - that is the one that I dowloaded and installed.  Help please the Splash Screen is "bugging me"

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Can MacBook Pro Run Windows Vista?

    Hi,
Can I run Windows Vista 32/64 bit on MacBook Pro without BootCamp? I saw it use Intel Core 2 Duo as its CPU.

Actually it can (if you put in the Vista disk and clear OSX off the drive, which I wouldn't advise doing), but its not a good idea, because without the bootcamp drivers, you wont able to use the MBPs features, like the backlit keyboard, the built in iSight, the remote, the trackpad with two finger right click, no wireless, no ethernet, no USB or firewire, no 3D acceleration (no GPU drivers) and more. You could try and find out the vender of all those hardware components and download them (that is assuming they have drivers on their websites that will work with the MBP), but that could take a long time.
Why you ask, because the hardware is totally compatible with XP SP2 and Vista. All Intel Macs that shipped after the release of bootcamp last year have the necessary firmware to boot Windows. All bootcamp does is install EFI firmware support for booting between OSX and Windows, add Windows booting to Startup Disk and burn a driver CD/DVD to add functionality of the above mentioned hardware.
