Hooking up Audigy to external receive

Hello all,
I have four speakers that I ran the cabling for through the walls and I hook them up to a Pioneer receiver. How can I hook my audigy card up to the receiver and make sure I'm getting real surround capability? The receiver does not have digital input on it, so I hooked it up to the first output on the card. The second and third outputs are front and rear resepcti'vely for a 4 channel PC setup. How can I do this?

The receiver has several sets of RCA Inputs on it, but they are all single pairs of inputs for things such as CD, DVD, VCR, etc. I have a very new Denon model reciever in my home theater and it doesn't have any RCA inputs with more than 2. I've never really seen a reciever with more than the left, right audio and single video input for RCA and I've spent over 9 years in the A/V world. That is why I'm kind of confused. Is it possible to run out of the first output on the Audigy and then the reciever is processing the channels from there? When I do it that way, and run the test in Audio HQ, it says "rear left, rear right" on all the speakers and doesn't say "front left, front right" at all... I'm confused.

  • Shockwave Flash crashes when hooked up to an external monitor

    Hi,
I believe I have finally pinpointed a problem with my Adobe Schockwave Flash plug-in. When I am hooked up to my external monitor and use my flash player, I receive a message saying:
"The following plug-in has crashed: Adobe Shockwave Flash"
I have no idea why this is; I have thoroughly searched for a solution to no avail.
    My computer:
    Alienware M11x R3
    Windows 7 Standard 64-bit
    Flash Version: WIN 11,0,1,152
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
    Google Chrome 14.0.835.202m
    My Monitor:
    Alienware 2210
--The driver software for this is up to date.
The stranger thing is, it only crashes on Google Chrome. It doesn't crash on Internet Explorer, I do not know what kind of an issue. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I can give any additional information if needed.
    Thanks,
    -Chris

Have the same problem. It happens only with the new plugin in Chrome :
    Google Chrome
    14.0.835.202 (m)

    Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
    Flash plugin
    11,0,1,152 C:\windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

  • Audigy 2 ZS audio out to External Receiver Deco

Can any one help me? I followed the instructions on how to connect the analog audio line outputs of my Audigy 2 ZS to my external Recei'ver(the 5. analog inputs); But the problem that I am getting into, is that I increase the receiver volume Way Way Way up (in the +dB range) to actually here something at a dessent level, and still the sound are not enjoyable as I usually do when I directly connect my DVD player directly into the receiver (the reciever does the audio decoding). When I switch to another audio source, it would have almost blowup my speakers.
I have been trying to bypass the decoding from the card, and use its digital out to connect to my receiver. The other problem is that it is a SPDIF digital output on the card, but my receiver has only standard optical/coaxial digital inputs and no SPDIF. Are there any converters/adapters out there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have a 2006 iMac.  I am trying to hook up a LG external DVD writer.  It doesn't appear on the desktop when I hook it up.  Any suggestions?

I have replaced the internal DVD/CD drive twice in the last 1 1/2 years.  Now when I insert a DVD or CD, it does not appear on the desk top or anywhere else.  I can't eject it.  I tried everything possible that I could think of.  After a few weeks, the CD decided to eject when I started up my computer.  I put another DVD in and this time it showed up on the desk top, so I tried to burn something to it and the computer told me there wasn't any device available to do such.  Then I could not get it to eject.  I tried shutting down the computer and starting it up, and the DVD disappeared off the desk top again.  This time I was able to get it to eject sooner.  I haven't put anything new in there since!  I purchased a third party external DVD writer.  When I hooked it up to the computer, nothing appeared on the desk top.  I put the software disc in (which is windows, but I wanted to see what it did).  It showed up on the desk top and let me open it up.  I was able to eject it from the desk top.  I then put in a blank CD to record music to.  Since there wasn't anything on my computer for the new drive, I tried dragging and dropping the songs onto the CD and it appeared to be burning the CD, but when I put the CD into my stereo, it showed error.  Many years ago I had a LaCie external drive because my computer didn't have one and it used Toast which was on my desk top.  I thought this one was supposed to just work with iTunes, but I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it.  Should the device appear on my desk top when I plug it in?  Is there some kind of software that I am supposed to have?  I am running version 10.6.8.  Thanks!

The external DVD/CD Writer will Not appear on your desktop when you attach it to your iMac.  It will appear in "Finder", which is in your Dock.
    Hope this helps

  • Audigy 4 external hub probl

Hi, my audigy 4 pro external hub has stopped working completely. The power light doesn't turn on. I have reinstalled the drivers several times, and I get an error message, something about an NT failed or invalid handler I think? Will the external hub power light come on as soon as the computer turns on, or after windows loads? That way I can determine whether it's a hardware or software problem. Also, there is no power plug anywhere on the I/O hub, so it is powered by the audigy 4 card correct? I found a creative power cord next to the hub, but I think it's for an old MP3 player that has long since died; I can't find anywhere to plug it into anyway. Please help?Thanks,-UnSaniTiZ

Well having spoken to Technical support for about an hour, they told me it could because my onboard sound card hadnt been disabled. Well I've disabled that and uninstalled its drivers. Then I did a clean install of the audigy4. Still the same problem. For some reason, the headphone volume slider in the surround mixer is greyed out and the isnt any headphone tab in the Audio console. Having been told that this is Creatives best product and "it cant have anything wrong with it", I am beggining to wonder just what is going on? I've completly disabled my old onboard sound, done a clean install and still the headphones/volume/remote etc arent working. Is there anything else I can try?

  • Hooking up and removing external devices?

I am curious if there is a proper way to hook up my keyboard, bluetooth mighty mouse and external monitor AND remove them properly? I seem to have trouble with the monitor upon removal... the screen on the laptop will blank blue then come back up, but sometimes my dock and desktop remain blank - the computer still thinks the external monitor is hooked up.
Should I remove these items while the computer is alseep, should I shut down before removing, is there a way to "eject" items?
    Thanks for the help.

I didn't think you were supposed to unplug a monitor while the computer is switched on.. ? maybe it's different with the new connectors they use, but as far as I remember it was always a big no-no.
as for the rest of it.. the bluetooth mouse doesn't need to be removed (does it?), just turn it off if you want I guess. the keyboard you can unplug or reconnect whenever you want. and if it's a wireless one, then you can just switch it off if you like.

  • Hooking directly to a stereo receiver

I have hooked up a Y audio cable from the headphones jack to my stereo receiver to play over some built in room speakers. However, only on side plays. I have purchased a a new cord but no success. If I swap the cords (red to white), the other speaker will play. How do I get this to work?

I am having the same trouble. Is it the connection.? I have not gone into the preferences and will try that. But earphones and speakers only play on the left. If I pull out it plays on the right./ Let me know if you get an answer: [email protected]
I just went into system preferences, sound, and found that the slider was all over to the left. Put it in the middle: that should do it.

  • Audigy 1 external bay : proble

    Hi,
I recently bought a Creative Audigy Platinum eX with external dri've, but I can't figure how to make it work..
The sound card installs and runs fine, but nothing from the external dri've.
The optical output light is on, so the dri've has power, but nothing more...
I tried to de-install / reinstall drivers only, entire software suite (found on this forum), tried modded and updated drivers, but nothing works.
So.. did I miss something ? Is there something more i could test (like changing PCI slot ?) ?
I bought it to play guitar, so i really need a solution...
Thank you all for your future help
Edit : I forgot to mention : I'm using WinXP pro SP2, and everything is running fine...

But the power supply doesn't make the noise if it's plugged into the wall but not plugged into the external sound card? Can you test the output of the power supply with a multimeter?

Yes it does make noise, it doesn't even power up, so the computer can't even recognise the device.

  • I have an aluminum MacBook with Lion OS. I have hooked up a Samsung external HD monitor, but the image is slightly blurry.I also see a message for a second which says Analog. What to do??

I have an aluminium MacBook and have just connected an external Samsung HD monitor. The image is blurry and I cannot seem to fix it.
The MacBook display is 1280x800 but the maximum for the external monitor is much higher. Also the external monitor sometimes displays a (rapid) message implying that it's getting an Analog signal.
    How can I fix this??

FWIW, reformatting a USB disk is almost never an issue, and it's quick.
Buy a cheap external USB disk (regardless of the provided Windows or OS X or other disk format) (that's larger than your internal disk by some measure) and preferably buy a disk from a vendor that offers the right to return the disk if it doesn't work, connect the disk to your MacBook, wipe the disk and reformat it with Disk Utility, perform the backup (probably also using Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, while your MacBook is booted from the installation DVD), and then commence with the OS X upgrade.

  • Hooking up iPod to Stereo Receiver

Is it possible to have my iPod play through my receiver. I'm crossing my finger I can so I can ditch my CD player.
Thanks. Hoping for a good reply.

Yes, you can -- if your receiver has an auxiliary input. It requires a small cable that connects to the earphone jack on the iPod and plugs into the auxiliary input on your receiver. I'm not sure what the cable is called...mine came with my JBL Onstage speaker set.
There may be other ways, but I have used this successfully.

  • Lights on Audigy 2 External Box? Monitor/Audidy Confli

I had to disconnect the power to the external breakout box as it was somehow cauing my digital flat panel to quit working. ( I know - weird!!)
I don't know if I was overloading the power supply or if there was a driver conflict. Somehow the onboard
    sound module had become re-enabled.
My question is - I noticed that on occasion that one of the LEDS on the external unit was flashing red sometimes while this was happening. What does the LED on the far left stand for?
Anybody else seen a monitor/sound card conflict like this?

even i had the same problem, but i found that the AD_LINK connector was not properly connected to the soundcard. It may seem to get connected but even with a slight pull it comes out. The cabinet metal strips at the back obstruct the connector and it doesnt get connected properly.wat i did was, before installing the CARD on to the slot, i connected the AD_LINK first and then put it in the slot.
This problem generally doesnt occur with the FIREWIRE connector as theres plenty of room above and below the connetor. and so ur IO Box is Powering UP but fails to communicate with the sound card.

  • Trying to hook up a third external USB drive

I have been trying with no luck to connect a third external usb drive to my ibook so I can keep music, photo and movie content on separate drives only to find that the 3rd usb drive will not stay connected. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong. My ibook is a g4 running 1.5 gb of ram @ 1.33.

First thing to do is connect this 3rd device directly to a port on the computer. If that works OK, then what you need to do is get a powered USB hub to replace the non-powered one you're using.
Do all the drives have their own power supplies?

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2NX External Sound Card Fidelity Degradat

I get a muted, out of phase, tinny sound along with the music being played; sounds ok for a while then this happens regurlarly. Closing player & reopening stops the problem temporarily but recurs. I've uinstalled/reinstalled software & updated as well. Any suggestions?Message Edited by Vince8 on 0-22-2005 09:50 PM

You should insist to have the installation CD. There are several essential software in the CD which may not be avaibale for download. Alternati'vely, you may want to contact Creative technical support to get/buy the CD.

  • Suddenly getting message that my system doesn't support final cut. this is after hooking up an external lacie hard drive and downloading a new lacie shortcut button software. i had also safe started the computer.

I am suddenly getting an error message when i try to start up final cut pro 7. it won't let me anymore, saying i don't meet system requirements. this started after I hooked up my lacie external drive and found the shortcut button to not be working properly. i then turned off my computer and safe started it. that didn't help. so i downloaded a new lacie shortcut button software. then i could no longer start final cut. also, my screen shots on my desktop appear blank when i try to open them now.

if your using the Lacie as a scratch drive for Final Cut, uninstall the backup software and blue button control utility to use the drive properly to save and read media files.
Lacie blue button drives are for automated backup and dont perform with FCP
see this from Lacie on uninstalling the preference utility:
