Hooking up Kona2 to K-box to external

Thanks in advance for any help, and bear with me because this one is new to me.
Ok so Im running FCP HD And I need an external Monitor working for me. Im actually mainly working with SD, but I need this to work for both instances. I've got a kona2 card into a K-Box just with the 15-pin to 15-pin, and the HDI to HDI, and Ive got RGB (BNC's) out of video monitor out, going to a Sony monitor RGB in. Ive really no Idea if this is even close to right, this is the first time Ive ever dealt with any of the external monitor stuff. So my questions are
1.Is this right, And if so what should my settings be in FCPHD to get the monitor playing?
2. If its not right what am I missing or should I start from square one?
Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Make sure you are running the 1.1.4 drivers with the Kona 2 card.
You should be able to select the Kona 2 as the video playback in the A/V devices tab of the Audio/Video settings, then see things externally on the Sony as long as it's also set to be monitoring the component in...

  • Mail Box on External HD for Security Reasons

    Hi
    I want to move or make a mail box on an external hard drive so
    when on the internet at coffee shops it is safe from hackers or
    from being stolen. The mail box I want to move has hundreds of
    contacts and personal info on others.
    Can I do this and still read that mail when hooked up by a USB
    cable? Will Mail look into mail folders not on the laptop HD?
    without importing the files to view?
    thanks in advance

  • Is there any way to hook up the iPad 2 to an external CD/DVD drive?

    I want to get my girlfriend an iPad for college, but her textbooks frequently come with CD's with supplemental learning resources. She also enjoys watching DVD's. Unfortunately, the iPad lacks a USB port, so it can't be connected to an external CD/DVD drive. Is there any workaround, such as a USB adapter that can be used with the existing iPad interface? Or is there some sort of wireless solution to be able to use an external CD/DVD drive? Knowledgeable feedback is appreciated, and please don't suggest buying a laptop, as I have already considered that. My inquiry refers strictly to my query regarding hooking up an external CD/DVD drive to the iPad 2. Thanks in advance!

    Ok - then since the answer to your question is NO - then you have all of ....
    Knowledgeable feedback
    that there is on the subject. There is no way to connect any device to the iPad except for a camera using the camera connection kit.

  • Yamaha trigger box to external sound card

    i've got a yamaha dtxpress IV and i need to record from a mac.
    i am currently trying to find out which card should do the trick while being compatible to cubasis/asio.
    the yamaha trigger box has a midi out, headphones and mic available...
    i already have a cable from midi-out to usb...but i do not know if this will really do.
    so what i really want to know is if there's an available external sound card from creative that could connect to a midi-out and be compatible to cubasis/asio at the same time.
    ps:i have no clue whatsoever if this is something simple or not!!
    Cheers

    Hi again,
    I just found a link on M-Audio's website (forum) that says the Fast Track Pro does not support sleep mode, and that I should set my computer to never go to sleep. *****, a little, but I guess it's not a huge deal. And, ultimately, what matters is the sound quality that I get. And, that is quite good!
    In the meantime, your point about an external power supply (besides the USB power) is interesting, and a really good point. I wonder if I powered the interface with the optional external power supply, would that alleviate the problem (since the power to the M-Audio box would be continuous). I may, one day, order the optional power supply and check it out. In the meantime, I will simply set my computer to never go to sleep.
    I do have a question in this regard, though: Is "going to sleep" the same issue as "screensaver". I ask this because I've figured out how to set the screensaver to "never", but I don't see anything about "sleep" mode. Is this the same thing? If not, how do I access the "sleep mode" settings?
    Thanks again!

  • Can I hook an Powerbook hard drive to an external drive bay?

    I'm trying to help a friend out with his Powerbook.  For some reason, when he plugs in the power cable to it, it doesn't seem to recognize it.  He's tried 3 different cables, so I'm thinking it's the piece in the motherboard.
    Now, Mac motherboards are new to me.  He has another Mac he's using and he just wants to get the data off of the hard drive.  Is there an external bay we can get so we can get that data from his old Powerbook to his new Mac?

    The easiest thing would be to put the PB into target disk mode, but it sounds like that isn't going to work with no power and a bad motherboard.
    It's about a 30 step process to remove a hard drive from a PB, but once you have it out there's dongles that let you plug in various drives and attach them via USB to a computer.

  • How load text into dynamic text boxes from external file?

    hi all,
    my animation is very simple - a background image and 2 text boxes.  one of the textboxes shows a large word, which crossfades to another word, with a total of about 12 words (showing one at a time in different text boxes fading in & out in the same spot).
    i need a way to have the text be imported dynamically via xml or json (xml preferred).  this article is a good start, but i noticed he's putting all of the text into one box - i need separate strings put into separate boxes from the xml.
    Chris Gannon - Loading XML via AJAX into Adobe Edge
    he uses
    var outputField = $(this.lookupSelector(“xmlOutput”));
    for his text box.  what would be the best way to revise this code to include all my individual strings to be loaded into my individual text boxes?  thinking an array might work, but my js skills are limited.
    any other suggestions or tutorials you could point me to would be appreciated.
    thanks!!

    thanks joel_pau !
    this is helpful in seeing how the array is created, but after giving it a go I became a little confused.
    i wound up trying it again based on the example i linked out to previously, but it's not adding the text from my xml file when previewing.
    here's the code i'm using in edge animate on my stage.  something must be wrong somewhere.  let me know if you have any suggestions on this.
    // insert code to be run when the composition is fully loaded here
    // here i'm assigning a variable to each one of my textboxes at they're named in my edge animate comp
    var outputField1 = $(this.lookupSelector("helps2"));
    var outputField2 = $(this.lookupSelector("communicate"));
    var outputField3 = $(this.lookupSelector("experience"));
    var outputField4 = $(this.lookupSelector("interact"));
    var outputField5 = $(this.lookupSelector("understand"));
    var outputField6 = $(this.lookupSelector("overcome"));
    var outputField7 = $(this.lookupSelector("flourish"));
    var outputField8 = $(this.lookupSelector("collab"));
    var outputField9 = $(this.lookupSelector("trust"));
    var outputField10 = $(this.lookupSelector("grow"));
    var outputField11 = $(this.lookupSelector("engage"));
    var outputField12 = $(this.lookupSelector("survive"));
    var outputField13 = $(this.lookupSelector("thrive"));
    var outputField14 = $(this.lookupSelector("evolve"));
    var outputField15 = $(this.lookupSelector("connect"));
    var outputField16 = $(this.lookupSelector("achieve"));
    $.ajax({
        type: "GET",
        url: "myxmlfile.xml",
        dataType: "xml",
        success: function(xml) {
    //here i'm trying to load the the text in my xml file into my textboxes in edge animate.  'txt1, txt2, txt3' are the tags in my xml file
            outputField1 = $(xml).find('txt1').text();
            outputField2 = $(xml).find('txt2').text();
            outputField3 = $(xml).find('txt3').text();
            outputField4 = $(xml).find('txt4').text();
            outputField5 = $(xml).find('txt5').text();
            outputField6 = $(xml).find('txt6').text();
            outputField7 = $(xml).find('txt7').text();
            outputField8 = $(xml).find('txt8').text();
            outputField9 = $(xml).find('txt9').text();
            outputField10 = $(xml).find('txt10').text();
            outputField11 = $(xml).find('txt11').text();
            outputField12 = $(xml).find('txt12').text();
            outputField13 = $(xml).find('txt13').text();
            outputField14 = $(xml).find('txt14').text();
            outputField15 = $(xml).find('txt15').text();
            outputField16 = $(xml).find('txt16').text();
    but nothing happens on preview.  my textboxes still contain the original text that lives in my comp.

    How to hookup a digital boc, Cisco 150N, to a standard def. TV

    jjg111 wrote: How to hookup a digital boc, Cisco150N, to a standard def. TVIf the box doesn't have an RF out jack, use the Component or Composite video jacks along with left and right audio. If the TV doesn't have inputs for those, you'll need something that can convert the signals to channel 3 analog, like maybe an old VCR. Or change out the box for one that has an RF out connector. Or replace the TV.

  • Adding html into edge animate text box from external js file

    I have a text field in edge animate that I want to update with a score. The function that is used to click and update the score is in an enternal file so I'm trying to figure out how to get my edge animate div to be read by jquery in the external file. This is what I have so far in the external js but it isn't reading the edge animate text field properly:
    external .js file:
            AdobeEdge.coinCounter += 250; // this calls the variable coinCounter which was set in edgeActions.js and updates it from the original 0 value
                    alert(AdobeEdge.coinCounter); // this shows it works and updated correctly
           var comp = AdobeEdge.getComposition("EDGE-172492634");
           var stage = comp.getStage();
         stage.sym.$("gameText").html(AdobeEdge.coinCounter); // this is where things go wrong. I want this updated value to read back into the textbox called "gameText" that is in the edgeAnimate composition
          stage.sym.$("gameText").html("NewText"); // nothing reads to the "gameText" textbox; something must be wrong how I am referencing it outside of edgeActions in the external .js file
    Would someone mind helping me reference the textbox "gameText" correctly so I can input my new value? Thank you!!

    Thank you. The learning curve is taking me awhile. It works now:
        var checking = AdobeEdge.getComposition("EDGE-172492634").getStage().$("gameText").text();
        alert(checking); //yay!
    Thanks Joel!

  • Can anybody please tell me what is escapse sign ( check box) external data

    Hi ,
    Can anybody please tell me , What is Escape Sign (check Box) in external data tab in infopackage
    Thanks
    PP

    Hi PP,
    If you are loading data from an Excel CSV file, specify the data separator and the escape character.
    Specify the separator that your file uses to divide the fields in the Data Separator field.
    If the data separator character is a part of the value, the file indicates this by enclosing the value in particular start and end characters. Enter these start and end characters in the Escape Charactersfield.
    Example:
    You chose the; character as the data separator. However, your file contains the value 12;45 for a field. If you set u201C as the escape character, the value in the file must be u201C12;45u201D so that 12;45 is loaded into BI. The complete value that you want to transfer has to be enclosed by the escape characters.
    If the escape characters do not enclose the value but are used within the value, the system interprets the escape characters as a normal part of the value. If you have specified u201C as the escape character, the value 12u201D45 is transferred as 12u201D45 and 12u201D45u201D is transferred as 12u201D45u201D.
    Hope this information helps u.........

  • Is there a way to hook up a wi-fi external anntina to my PB

    I just want to know if anyone has been able to hook up a wireless anntina to a PB G4 1.67. I live in a RV most of the time and the park I am at has a wireless system in place. It works great when I am outside my rig but will not work inside. This is because of the aluminum skin on the outside of the trailer. I bought a PB becuse of many recomendations from others around me but I need a way to hook it up (not permanetly) to an external anntina.

    I found that I could use a Buffalo Ethernet Converter to hook up to an external antenna. This use does not give me a moble antenna but does not require modification of my laptop. This device is also able to be used by any computer with a working ethernet port. This does answer my question and I am disapointed that the people who did respond to this thred did not understand the difference between a 15 in. powerbook and a 17 in. powerbook. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!!

  • DVR Upgrade / Expansion - External Hard Drive goes idle

    I upgraded my DVR by buying a 2TB external eSata hard drive.  The external drive works when I power it on and it shows up in my DVR menu.  I have been able to record to the external device and playback.
    The problem is that the device goes idle and goes into standby mode.  The cable box then does not recognize it and only records to the internal storage.  The only way I can get it to record to it is to manually turn it off then back on.  I contacted the manufacturer and it doesn't have a shutdown feature, they said the issue is with the cable box not sending power to it.
    Is there a fix for this?

    I am not sure why it is doing that. The external drives so still keep working if the box is in standby. To rule out it being a problem with the box you can hook it up to another box you may have or hook it up to a friends box to test it. Also refer to our e-sata page talking about the connectivity, drives we have tested and approved services for(though people have successfully used other drives) , and  frequently asked questions.
