Hooking up my Ipod to my New Calibur!

Ok so I just bought a new Dodge Calibur, it has an AUX plug in it for my Iopd, but I didn't get anything to plug the Ipod into it, nothing, so now I'm stuck with an Ipod and new car, but I can't listen to my Ipod from my car, I can't find anywhere that sells the part I need, it's driving me nuts!!!! I've been to the dodge Web site, I've looked up all the products here,i feel as if I'm missing it or somthing. Please Help. I'm in the Army over sea's so trying to find a store that can help me is next to impossible. Please help me with this!!!!

I had the same problem until I learned that I was "clicking" the wrong area of the click wheel, when trying to view photos on the projector. I have an iPod Video docked in the universal dock connector w/ an S-Video cable going to a Sony XGA overhead projector. In the Photos/Slideshow Settings (on the iPod) make sure you change the TV Out to "Ask" and the TV Signal to "NTSC". Next, go to the Photo Library and click the center wheel to see all the photos in your libraty, THEN CLICK THE PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CLICK WHEEL. You will be asked if you want the "TV Off" or "TV On". Make sure you select "TV On" then click the center of the click wheel and your photos should appear via the projector. I found that to play videos/tv shows on the projector, you just click the video you want, choose "TV On" (make sure you change the TV Out to "ask" in the video settings) and the video should beging playing on your projector. You don't have to click the play/pause button like you do to view photos.
If your photos/video still don't play, then it may be an issue with your projector. On my Sony, I have to press the "input" button and it will find the S-Video connection.
Hope this helps...

I would like to hook my older iPod to my newer computer.
    How?

    Hi, Tim.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need clarification on this question to provide a better answer.  However, you should just need to have the most current version of iTunes installed and connect the device via the included USB cable.
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB

how can I hook up my iPod touch to my new laptop without loosing my music files

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your device manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the device for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How do i transfer all my ipod songs from my ipod to my new computer?

how do i transfer all my ipod songs from my ipod to my new computer?
i stil have my old computer. but i have 500 songs. so i dont want to burn them onto cds then upload them. is there a way to transfer the songs from the ipod to my new computer?

Hey, I had the exact same issue. The way that Apple explains to do it is change your iPod into hardrive mode by messing with the preferences. While your iPod is hooked up to your old compuer, go into preferences and check the box saying enable disk use. Then your iPod will appear on the desktop and you can drag the song files into it. I don't know if you can transfer them all at once or not. Anyway, then you hook up the iPod into the new computer and drag the songs into iTunes. I had trouble doing this and it erased all my songs one time but I think it was an error on my part. Another way to do it is to send the song files through AIM. Have someone on the old computer and you on the new one and send them in large bunches to the new computer. Yet another way is to e-mail them to yourself and download them on to the new computer. The sure-fire way (and the way I finally succumbed to but it worked!) is to download the program iPodCopy on the new computer and follow the instructions to have your music quickly and easily copied. It does cost $17.00 dollars to download but I was willing to pay the price to have my music transferred hassle-free. Just type iPodCopy into google and it should come up. After months of trying and searching how to transfer my music to the new computer, this was my last resort and it was well worth it!
I hope my suggestions help you out in your iPod escapades!
Let me know if they work. Buenas Suerte.

My laptop just quit working on me and I really don't want to have to add all my songs into this new computer. If I just hooked up my iPod to this new computer will all my songs show up in my new iTunes Library?

  • Ipod help with new computer

ok i just bought a new lap top when my old computer crapped out. so now i have an ipod with around 2000 songs on it but my old computer had itunes and all the songs there.
so now when i hook up my ipod to my new computer to try and add more songs to the ipod it says that itunes is synching with my ipod? i have no clue what that means but i heard that it might erase all of my songs on my ipod. and since i dont have my old computer i wont be able to get all those songs back.
so what i am asking is if there is a way to turn off synching? or should i just let it synch cause it wont hurt my ipod or the songs on it already?
    thanks

Yes, you can choose to run your iPod in 'manual mode' setting when you are in iTunes.
"To load songs onto iPod manually:
Connect your iPod to your computer.
When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (under Devices), select it.
If the Summary pane is not showing, click the Summary tab.
Select "Manually manage music." (If you have an iPod that displays video, the checkbox says "Manually manage music and video.")
Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod."

My old computer with itunes no longer works.  If I hook my ipod to my new computer will I lose the songs that are on it now?

    Yes, you will.
Do you have the songs still?
You could add them to your new library if you do.

  • Hooking up my ipod to my jvc car stereo

I have hooked up my ipod to my deck and all i get from my deck if the word check that just flashes. My ipod starts to recharge the battery. When i disconnect the ipod my deck then says no ipod. I have hooked another ipod to my deck and it works fine. I have also reseted and reformatted my ipod and it still will not sync with my deck what do i need to do to fix this problem. also my ipod works fine other than not syncing with my deck.

Who installed the car stereo? If you don't know the installer I would take car and iPod into Car Tunes or other 'Reputable' car audio installer and have it set up in proper working order. It may mean getting another new stereo but there is only one way to do this and that is to get it done right.
Hard, but I've found no other way around this type of problem than to hand out the cash to get it fixed.

  • Computer Crash - If I Hook Up My IPOD again, will I loose all my songs?

My computer just crashed, and I lost all my documents in a user file, and all my songs on Itunes. If I hook up my Ipod to Itunes again, will I loose all my songs, or the songs stay in the Ipod?

You can a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
From here you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation, also it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    TuneJack Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Laptop Stolen, now How can I get Ipod working with new computer/disable old

My laptop with my itunes was stolen. I still have my IPOD 30GB.....
I have a new computer, and I think I can download Itunes to it and hook up the ipod and it will be able to load ipod content to the new computer???
Also I am worried, what about the old computer, do i need to DeAuthorize it? How would I do that since I don't have it in my possession?
    Thanks for any help!!!!

*what about the old computer, do i need to DeAuthorize it? How would I do that since I don't have it in my possession?*
You can't deauthorise a computer you no longer have access to on it's own. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option once a year to deauthorise them all in one go and start over: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
*I have a new computer, and I think I can download Itunes to it and hook up the ipod and it will be able to load ipod content to the new computer???*
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default.
