Hooking up my Line 6 Pod V2 to Garageband

I have a Line 6 V2 that I am attempting to connect to my mac with an M-Audio MIDIsport Uno. It came with some software I can't get to work. I just need some help with connecting my pod and being able to record my guitar direct to Garageband.

Isn't the Pod a audio interface? Just plug the Pod right into your Mac with USB or from the line/headphone out to the Mac's Line in.

I have a Yamaha FC7 foot pedal and am trying to use it as a whammy bar type controller.  Can I do this with anything in Mainstage?  I also have Line 6 Pod farm 2 - anything in there?
The foot pedal also seems to have an on/off switch that activates when it's depressed all the way.  How do I set that up in Mainstage?  Can I cycle between and effect and a volume pedal, for example?
    Mainstage version is 2.1.3
    Thanks for all help given.

You can use a keyboard or other controller (with jack like sustain) and then assign controller (normally 64) to what you want Mainstage to do.
This is unlikely to work if you plug an "Expression Pedal" such as an FC7 into a "Sustain Pedal" socket using MIDI CC64, which usually operates as a switch rather than a continuously variable value.
If I understood the OP's request correctly, the OP wanted to use the FC7 as a "Whammy Pedal", which does a PitchBend 'dive' effect (amongst other things)

  • Line 6 Pod Farm 2 completely unstable

(I've seen lots of post about Pod Farm 2, but nothing that address this specific issue.)
I use Logic professionally, and by that I mean; to make a living and I use it everyday. I've got tons of 3rd party apps and my rig is (for the most part) pretty solid. Lately, (and sadly, I can't remember exactly when it started) I've been getting really bad crashes when I use an instace of PF2 in a project. I "mean really" bad in that the project won't re-open. You can go into Logic, run AU Validation and deselect PF2, then your project will open. If not, the ill-fated project crashes on opening, while trying to vailidate PF2. PF2 passes the Valideation Manager when run on it's own, but once open it in a project  it will innevitably fail.
The failures I've seen so far have included:
    1) Losing horizontal "track lane" lines in the arrange page. (The lines that, when viewed with bar / measure lines, for a sort of grid in the arrange page).
    2) General crash (rainbow pinwheel and a "Force Quit only" exit. From here out when the project tries to initiate the PF2 plug it will crash and generate a "project x (crashed)" version in the project folder.
    3) Trying to move the PF2 instance from one plugin location on a channel strip to another (i.e. if you had PF2 in the first plugin location, then realized you wanted to put some sort of plug "before" it in the plugin path). This causes a very strange result; the PF2 instance moves out of the slot that it's in, but never fully seats in it's new destination slot. If you move it from slot 1 to slot 2, it'll jsut hover on the screen near slot 2, but never fully "drop in". From that point on it never works and it's just a few mouse clicks away from the full on crash.
I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I've had most recently. The thing I find odd is that, whatever the failure is, many of the results cause graphic related errors in Logic itself.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi, musical.
    A few ideas.
Are logic and PF2 both 32 bit?
Have you installed any line 6 drivers or other line 6 programs that might interfere with LP?
Does PF open as a standalone and work okay?
Does PF2 open as a new plugin in an existing project and work as normal?
Can you disable/bypass PF2 before closing the project, then open it again. Once the LP project is open can you open PF2 successfully?
Is PF2 registered/authorised, and not out of demo time?
I'm unsure if any of these things will help, or if they are way off the mark, but I hope you find an answer,
    Regards,
    Scorpii.

  • How record line-level stereo input on GarageBand iOS?

I'd like to record line-level stereo input sent from my Mackie mixer to GarageBand on my iPhone 4S. I tried plugging a standard 1/8" stereo cable into the headphone jack, but no luck. The GarageBand manual suggests that this is possible, and there is one (pricey) cable I've found that seems to handle this, but it claims that the audio input is mono only, suggesting that I may need a cable connection to the dock (not the headphone jack) to handle stereo.  I can't find a cable to do this, however...ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Jim

Sonoma Wire Works' "GuitarJack Model 2" iOS peripheral can help you do that. It's expensive though.

  • Can't use two i-pods on the same computer

I recently bought a new Gateway with Windows Vista after my first computer completely died. I hooked up my i-Pod, authorized the new computer but had to back up using my back up CDs. However, all went well.
I thought I would be able to do the same thing when I hooked my Dad's i-Pod up. Instead my songs show up in the library when his i-Pod is hooked up. His songs show up in the music folder that appears directly under devices, with his i-Pod clearly listed as the device.
I tried hooking up his i-Pod under a different account and the same thing happens. I-Tunes won't let me backup his music.
Any clues about how to get out of this mess?

Yes. Each iPod maintains its own preferences:

  • Reading Angles From a Line Driver Quadrature Encoder

I currently have a Quadrature Encoder (Line Drive) and am trying to interface it with a PCI-6602 Counter/Timer Card. I have currently had no luck in correctly hooking it up and reading the angle. Past experience with Quadrature Encoder have all been open collector; I have been able to to successfully hook up an open collector encoder with the 6602.
Any help in hooking up the Line Driver encoder with the PCI6602 would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Justin,
Normally, the mfgr. would include a recommended "Line Receiver" interface circuit for the encoder. I've found that some line-driver encoders actually can be successfully connected directly to the 6602 for quick-and-dirty testing, though you wouldn't want to wire that up arbirtrarily or rely on it for the long term. In any event, it sounds like you'll need to add a line receiver interface.

  • Always Use Primary Line / Auto Line Select CM 4.1(3)sr3c

Is it correct that the "Always Use Primary Line" system parameter and the phone device page "Auto Line Select" setting work together to affect a phone's off-hook behavior for incoming calls? I changed the Always Use Primary Line from the default (False to True) to change the behavior and force primary line only when the phone goes off-hook. When I then enabled Auto Line Select on the 7960G, I expected to reverse this global setting for that device only. But, that did not happen. In fact, no matter how Always Use Primary Line is set (True or False), the device page setting Auto Line Select (enable or disable) does not appear to cause any change at all. Has anyone else encountered this? If changing the Service Parameter takes effect without restarting callmanagers, wouldn't resetting the phone device force the change on the device page to take effect? Or, do I not understand the relationship between these two settings?

Auto Line Select comes into play when you are already on the phone and you have a new incoming call on another line, then should the focus change to that new ringing line so it can show you the caller-id or should the focus be on the active line. Depending on this, the softkeys and everything change on your screen and you don't have to press the line button to see all the keys.
Always use Prime Line is primary used when the phone goes off-hook. This determines if you want to go off-hook on the primary line all the time or not. If you choose to always use primary line, then everytime you go
off-hook, we use the first line on the phone and it does not matter if there is a call ringing on another line.
If its set to false, then when you go off-hook, it will go off hook on a line which is ringing and not your primary line.

  • How do i connect a pod with an apogee duet into logic

I am running a line 6 pod 2.0 and am new to logic. I was wondering if someone could walk me through connecting it to a apogee duet and record into logic thanks

I have an Ensemble and a X3 Live but I imagine it's similar. I run two lines from the pod into the Apogee device. Then set up two audio tracks, one with Input 1 and the other with Input 2. Arm the tracks to record and you should be set. (You can also do it with a single track, just using one line out.)

  • Apply hold on sales order lines programmatically

    Hi all,
I am new to SCM and we have a requirement where Holds should be applied on Sales Order Lines based on some complex criteria that can not be met by the declarative "Apply Hold Criteria" option from Sales Orders window. So I want to know where can this custom code be hooked to put the Holds on the Lines when the criteria is met. Which of the following options are possible ?
    1. Custom Extension (or Hook) of Order Lines.
    2. Workflow Customisation
If none of the above are possible, I guess then the only option will be scheduling a Custom Concurrent Program to apply holds.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sharath

You should be able to add this as a workflow customization, but you'd need to call a procedure with PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS TRANSATION since commits in the workflow code  itself could cause problems.

  • UC 320 - Call Conf Call Xfer; Hook Flash

Need to perform a "Call Conf Call Xfer" when inbound caller selects an option that dials an external number.  I cannot afford to tie up two lines.  This is a small office phone system solution and needs to support the needs of a small business.
At the very least the support for dial strings within Ext dial boxes.
    Example:    ! = Hook/flash    , = pause     H = Hangup
Call comes into AutoAttendent.  Caller chooses 1 which calls dials external number.
Dial string looks like this.    !,,800number,,!,H
this would hook flash the line,  Pause, dial the number, Pause to wait for dialing, hook flash back to orginal caller (conf), wait to ensure call is connected, hang up.
Doesn't make sense that you have to use a 2nd line.  15 and 20 year old phone system support this, but Cisco can't get their heads out of the sand and reconize the importance here.
With all the business that have calls routed to call centers or answering services for after hours calls this would be welcome feature/fix.
Here's my main beef.  Let's say you have a business that forwards calls to an answering service after hours.  I have 4 FXO lines.
Call one comes in and is routed to the answering service on line 2, then a 2nd call comes in on line 3, and that call is rounted to the answering service on line 4.
Better yet....  Business has 4 FX0 lines.  During business hours calls are coming in all the time.   Auto Attendent picks up.  Caller hears, "To make a payment by CC press 1".   UC 320 transfers the call to the external number of the CC payment company.  Again 2 of the 4 lines are used.   To make matters worse,  the 4th line is a DiD only to the business owner and isn't part of the normal business line options.  So really once the first call comes in and wants to pay by cc that's the only customer that can.
I can go on and on about why this feature is needed, but I think you get the point.

  • Audigy 2 zs line in prob

Im using a TV tuner and the audio needs to be hooked up to line in on sound card, but when ever I do this it creates a background noise that is very loud.
this noise is on every program I use, ( games, mp3's, windows media, and so on )
as soon as I take the line in out it sounds great.
    any ideas?
    Jim

    Hi Jeremy
The noise I get is a background static.
The TV card I'm using is a WinTV-USB Hauppauge ( I know its not very high quality )
The cable is sheided good ( I used the same cable with my all in wonder pro 9700, but thats in a diff. machine now)
I unplugged the line in cable from the win TV but left it in the sound card and was still getting the static.
I'm going to look for a different cable to see if that works.
    Thanks for the Ideas.

  • Sound Blaster Live 24bit External (5.1) Mic-In / Line-In prob

    Hey, here's my setup:
Virtual DJ Console Edition (3.4. updated)
    Hercules MP3 Console
Creative Sound Blaster Li've 24bit external (5. card, using it as a 4. to get FRONT out to speakers and REAR as headphone queue)
I need to broadcast using Shoutcast (the VirtualDJ internal broadcasting plugin wont allow to set up full details that SHOUTcast plugin for Winamp allows you to fill in.... i.e. Yellow pages etc etc)
The problem is basically that when I'm using SHOUTcast for Winamp, it streams both my FRONT and REAR outputs, can't seem to choose for it to stream only FRONT...
Now, I know I can send the FRONT to Line-in (and use a stereo Y splitter to get the sound also to my speakers), but then it seems my Sound Blaster li've disables my Mic-In... seems that it has shared Line-In and Mic-In even though they are separate holes in the box....
so basically wondering if anyones got any suggestions as to how to be able to Broadcast only the FRONT output and use the Microphone... now it seems its either I can't use the Microphone when doing a radio show... or alternati'vely I can't use my headphone queue...
I don't understand why would the card have a separate Line-In and Mic-In, but you can't use the Mic-In if you have something hooked in the Line-In? Could there be some software or driver update I could get to be able to do this? Or am I just having forced to buy something like an M-Audio card thats exactly the same, but doesnt share the Mic and Line-ins but lets you use both at the same time?
Thanks for any suggestions! They are most welcome!

    at drivers?
IF you mean those third part yASIO drivers they limit to 6 bit recording whic hisn't an issue wuth Acid pro, it's the bandwith and asio offset. DO you ahve a link?

  • SPA3102 - No Line Voltage

I'm having a problem with getting my SPA3102 to ring on my PSTN. I plugged it from the line jack into my wall jack. Then i plugged a phone in another wall jack. There's no dial tone for the phone and the info page is showing I don't have any line voltage.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Here's what the info page says below...
    Hook State: On
    Line Voltage: 0 (V)
    Loop Current: 0.0 (mA)
    Registration State: Registered
Also, i can call my phone ok if i hook it directly to the 3102 phone jack and setup Line 1.
    Thanks in advance.

The "Line" jack on the SPA3102 is an "FXO" interface. The "Phone" jack on the SPA3102 is an "FXS" interface. They are not the same. The "FXO" interface is to attach the SPA3102 to a working pstn line that is also attached to your phone company. The "FXS" interface is to attach the SPA3102 to station equipment such as a phone handset.
If you have no pstn phone service you should not be using the "FXO" or line interface. If you wish to ring additional telephones in the house from an incoming voip call to the SPA3102 they should be attached to the "FXS" or phone interface, however the phones should not also be attached to a working pstn phone line.
