Hooking Up Receiver and TV

I have a Pioneer multi-channel receiver and just purchased an Insignia LCD TV.  How do I need to hook up the receiver and TV?  Is there a special cord or setting I need to use?
My receiver used to be hooked up to my standard TV using basic audio (red/white) cables and worked fine playing the TV sound through my stereo speakers.
Please help.

Thank you for your reply.
My receiver does have HDMI hookup and I tried that, but was unsuccessful so figured I must be doing something wrong.  I wasn't sure if I was hooking the cord up to the wrong port (there are 3 on the receiver and 3 on the TV--the ones on the receiver are labeled differently) or if there was a setting I needed to change on either the TV and/or the receiver.  The way I would like for it to be set up is to have sound coming out of the TV speakers all the time and just turn on my receiver when I want surround sound---so I want sound from both my stereo speakers and TV speakers.  Can I do that through the sound settings on the TV?
Side note: My CD player, tuner, and mp3 player are hooked up and playing fine through the receiver. I've never hooked anything up to it with HDMI.

  • Apple TV...how to connect to get sound through my sound system (I have a satellite receiver and also Russound system)

Just hooked up my Apple TV.  It's great.  I have a satellite receiver and also a multi room sound system where I would like the sound to come through.  Can anyone tell me how I would connect to accomplish this.  My HDMI is connected so the sound is coming through my TV just fine.  I would like it to come through my sound system instead.  Your assistance is very much appreciated.

    Hi:
My system is as follows.  1 only HDMI output on TV.  I purchased an HDMI switch box/unit.  I have the output from the Switch Box Unit going into my TV.
I have 5 inputs on the switch box unit.  2 I have used.....
1 input from my television satellite receiver
2 input from my Apple TV
    My other equipment is
1 home theatre system.  This is where the sound from my TV goes through
1 russ sound whole home sound distribution system
When I play my Apple TV I am still getting the sound of my satellite TV.
This suggests that your satellite receiver is connected to your "home theater system" (which I will shorten to AVR "Audio/Video Receiver") for audio. Is this correct?
If so, then your problem is that you're switching video inputs, but not audio, and what I listed as (2) applies:
    2. You can connect the ATV to the TV using HDMI. Then you can either:
2a. Connect the TV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
2b. Connect the ATV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
You've connected the ATV to the "switch box" instead of the TV, which amounts to the same thing, as you're just expanding the number of HDMI ports on the TV by using the switch. So your simplest solution is either 2a or 2b. If your TV has an audio out port, and it's the same kind of port that your satellite receiver uses, you can just disconnect the audio cable from the satellite receiver and plug it into your TV. You may have to enable "external speakers" or whatever they call it in the TV settings. This would be best, because then you wouldn't have to change inputs on the AVR to select the correct audio; you would just change inputs on the switch, and both video and audio would switch between the satellite box and the ATV, solving your problem. Note that an optical cable is required to get Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (surround sound), and I mention that because it's possible you're using an analog audio (RCA) cable. So an optical cable is best.
Beyond this, I would really need to know your TV and AVR model numbers, preferably accompanied by links to specification pages or manuals, and it would be very helpful to know how the satellite receiver is connected to the AVR for sound.

  • Need to disable logs of Received and placed calls in cisco

    Hi All,
How and Where do i disable the logs of received and placed calls in cisco phone configuration?
    I am using CUCM V7X.
    Thanks in advance !!!!

I've tried them all and nothing beats Verizon. All around. I live in a building with metal walls and couldn't get reception with my iPhone 5. I looked on eBay and saw a Verizon Wireless Network Extender actually made to Verizon specs by Samsung. I checked the prices and a new one from Verizon was $159.00. I got one on eBay for $59.00 free shipping. Hooked it up, called Verizon for free activation and now I always have 5 bar reception. No additional charges besides purchasing the extender. Out of 5 different providers including AT&T I get the best reception everywhere with Verizon.
Just thought you might want to know.

When I hook my ipod up to my mac I used to get the Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted error message. It would then sync all my song to the ipod but when I ejected it, none of the songs would be on the ipod. Now I hook it up and I get the Mac OS X can't repair the disk error message. Then the spinning colored pinwheel pops up and I can't use iTunes. Please HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

  • I have HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but no audio from my new Apple TV.  I have checked all connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru every possible Dolby/Audio combination in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

I have an HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but there is non audio from my Apple TV.  Not for movies, music, YouTube etc.   I have checked all of the connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru all possible Dolby/Audio combinations in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

    Hello again Parker -
The basic setup is Digital Cable Box, DVD Player, Denon Receiver/Amp and TV Monitor.  To that I added the Apple TV.  The Receiver only has two HDMI IN slots (one for cable and one for the DVD) and one out to the Monitor.
[I bought a switcher to toggle the DVD and the AppleTV back and forth but just disconnected the DVD to simplify when I ran in to trouble.]
    So now I have:
HDMI from the Cable Box to the Receiver
HDMI from the Apple TV to the Receiver (in the old DVD slot which always worked well)
HDMI from the Receiver to the Monitor
RCA's from the Receiver to the Subwoofer and the other speakers
In addition I have some backup connections:
S-Video, Optical Audio and L/R RCA's from the Cable Box to the Receiver
S-Video from the Receiver to the Monitor
    Wait - JUST FOUND IT!
By going thru the excercise to track all of the connections per your suggestion, I found an anomaly when I switched Receiver sockets for the HDMI links.  The video moved but the audio didn't.  Turns out the monitor was using the optical audio feed from the receiver.  So I disconnected the optical audio and the monitor automatically switched to the HDMI audio feed!   Looked promising...
So I first connected an optical audio feed from the ATV to the receiver - Audio!  Then I pulled it, but the audio didn't switch to the HDMI feed.  It stopped.  Would be OK if all I was going to use is the ATV, but I need the DVD player too and I can't use a switcher to toggle between them if I have to unplug the optical audio each time.
This is becoming a career!  Any suggestions?
    Will

  • I bought an IR receiver and an Apple Remote, and I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

I bought an IR receiver and an Apple Remote, and I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong? The receiver is a Lenovo eHome OVU430006/01 USB IR Receiver.

    Hello,
You would need to pair the Apple Remote with the receiver. So I would use the generic Mac/PC receiver and follow these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1619
If that doesn't work then check in System Profiler to see if the IR receiver has been recognized by the PowerBook's hardware. You may require the install of drivers for this device to be recognized.
    Best of luck

    hi friend,
Why don't you try using a TIMER. Try using this code
Timer timer = new Timer((TIMER), new ActionListener()
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)
    // perform your task here...
    timer.setInitialDelay(TIMER);
    timer.setRepeats(true);
    timer.start();
I think this will work fine.
    Bye,
    Ravi.

  • T_Code 1KEK - Transferring Receivables and Paybles to PCA

    Hi SAPients,
We normally do the transfer of Receivables and Paybles to PCA through T-code 1KEK as a period end closing process. Now something strange is happening which was never before. While transferring the Receivables and Paybles through 1KEK, all the line items are getting transferred to Dummy profit Centre rather the respective ones which is resulting in the mismatch in basic ledger and comparision ledger in T-code GCAC ( Ledger Comparision ). Can any body explain why it is happening and where the dummy profit centre is getting picked from for 1KEK?
    Thanks,
    BABA

    Hi,
The following needs to be done.
    1) Ensure you have assigned all B/S accounts in 3KEH.
2)Execute F.5D (Calculate Balance Sheet Adjustment)
    3) Execute F.5E (Post Balance Sheet Adjustment) (mark the option "Post to profit center")
    4) Execute 1KEK.

  • TS4185 i am using the same apple id for facetime in my iphone and mac. now, only my iphone can receive and make facetime calls. why can't facetime calls in my mac get through?

i am using one apple id for facetime in my iphone and mac. my phone is able to receive and make calls while my mac is not able to do both. what is the problem.

thanks.  your answer was correct, clearer.  I have another question, maybe you can answer.  I just purchase my ipad2 2 days ago.  yesterday, there was a sound.  today there is no sound.  there is a sound only in movies and you tube and music.  but no sound on all apps and keyboards.  I look it up and seems like ther are few that have this problem.  I called walmart coz I bought it there and they told me that they have not heard that before but if I can't fix it, just return it and exchange it with anew one since I have 14 days to do that.  I tried rebooting it and still won't work.  Should I just restore it?

  • How can i use apple tv and iTunes movies with component video cables for an older receiver and projector?

i have an older yamaha receiver and projector both without hdmi inputs but component video instead. I would like to get apple tv and start renting movies through iTunes but apple tv only supports hdmi and ive read that iTunes has codes to prevent the use ot analog cables with movies. Is there a way to adapt hdmi to component video for both apple tv and iTunes easily?

Yes, HDMI is the only supported method. Also, with converters you will run into issues with HDCP (which will prevent you from streaming DRM content from iTunes etc) as well as resolution.

  • Iphone 4s-when wifi is off and I am away from my home connection can I receive and send texts and text messages?  I want to keep my wifi off to limit data (email etc) to when I want to check it.  Cellular is roaming"voice only" it says. Can I get texts?

When my wifi is off and I'm away from my home connection - it shows wifi off (unless I turn it on to check my email etc.) - and in the settings cellular it shows "voice only". Will I be able to receive and send texts in those settings?  Or check voicemail.  I had wanted to keep my email from coming in all the time and only want to check it periodically - so I turn ON my wifi when I want to check my email.  But when my wifi was off away from home- I hadn't seemed to be getting my texts.  So- do I need to keep wifi roaming connected when away from home to receive and send my texts in real time.  (which is what I want) or am I still able to send and receive texts with my wifi off when I'm away from home.  (When I'm home I am connected to my home data plan automatically through wifi and I get texts when I'm home - but I'm thinking I'm not getting texts in real time - is it because my wifi is off when I'm away from home?  My cellular shows voice only when my wifi is off away from home.  Am I doing it right to receive and send texts away from home?  Or do I need to open up the wifi in order to receive and send text messages.  I know that I would need to turn on wifi roaming - which will use data - for email checking or sending - as well as to use browsing apps and now I'm guessing to receive voice messages I may have missed?  So do I need wifi on to receive texts too?  Thank you - GregorySC

    Hello GregorySC,
In order to send and receive SMS or MMS messages, you will need to have an active cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
You will need these to send and receive iMessages:
An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    iOS 5.0 or later
A cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi connection
A phone number or Apple ID registered with iMessage in Settings > Messages

  • When I receive and answer e-mail, the correspondence is usually "nested" with the original message, and the number of replies, etc. are indicated with a number next to the original message.  How can I change the mail settings so that every reply is listed

When I receive and answer e-mail, the correspondence is usually "nested" "behind"  the original message, and the number of replies, etc. are indicated with a number next to the original message in the inbox.  How can I change the mail settings so that every reply is listed individually in the inbox instead of having them "stacked" behind the original message.  I'm afraid I might accidentially overlook messages the way they are handled now.

Somebody here will correct me if I'm wrong, but what you have to do is go into Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendars and under Mail, turn off "Organize by Thread".  I think that will make each message show individually.

  • Unit of measurement for materials received and withdrawn

    Hi Experts,
Base unit of material is KG whereas sales unit is M2 and conversion is maintained between both. Now I am using sale unit (M2) while entering material componenets. Then I am raising PR, PO, GR in project and withdraw the material in sale unit M2. But system updates the report in KG (under purchasing data tab of component). When I get material report, system shows reqmt qty in M2 but received and withdrawn qty in KG. Its confusing and doesn' serve the reporting purpose. Can we do something so that received and withdrawn qty will appear in M2 (sale unit) rather than KG (base unit)?
    Thanks and Regards
    Dinesh Chauhan

    Hi,
To resolve this issue, you need to maintain the conversion factors. In material master, additional tab, unit of measure tab you need to maintain the conversion factors. Say example I Kg = How much M2. If you maintain this the system will convert automatically all the Kg in to M2, or vice versa you can do. Otherwise you can maintain the conversion factors in the Info Record also for externally procured materials.

  • Keyboard no longer working when using Citrix Receiver and OSX10.9.5

I use Citrix Receiver and an iMac to connect to my work desktop from home. I have the latest release of Citrix Receiver. This morning I upgraded to OSX 10.9.5 and, after the update, my keyboard was not recognised when using Citrix Receiver. It works fine otherwise. Yesterday I had no problems. Is there something in the new OSX upgrade which interferes with Citrix Receiver? Does anybody know what I need to do to get it working again?

I had the same problem and found the solution on another discussion board.  You just go to the dock and click on Finder, then click back in the Citrix window and the keyboard works again.  At least for me.
