Hooking up to printer

Is ti possible to hook a printer that has been hooked up to a PC before specifically "hp psc 2110 all-in-one" or do i need to buy a specific printer for mac book pro?

Yes you can use the HP PSC 2110 All-in-One with your MacBook Pro.
Just download and install the latest printer driver for OSX from here then run /Utilities/Printer Setup Utility to set up the configuration.

The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name.  There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

A wireless printer connects to the network just like your computer, or iPhone/iPad, etc. connects using wireless.
The printer must be set up intially to scan to "find" available wireless networks, then your specific wireless network needs to be selected. Then the password for the network needs to be entered.
Once the printer is configured to join the network, it is always connected to the network. No further configuration is required.

  • Hooking old PC printer to new Mac Book Pro

I just got a new Mac Book Pro for college and my dad's work partner gave him a printer he got for free through Ford motor Co. a few years ago. Is there a way I can hook the old printer from "Hewlett Packard" to my new laptop?

Hi, Grace. If the printer can only be connected via a parallel printer cable that has huge 25-pin connectors on both ends, you can't use it. If it has a USB port and cable, you can physically connect it, and then you'll need to find and install the appropriate software driver for it, if one exists for the Mac.
What is HP's model number for the printer?

    Hi,
Click the ePrint button (the button (between the Wireless and the Question Mark button on the right) and follow the steps to enable Web Services.
Within several minutes the information sheet should be printed along with the Claim Code.
If the Web Services were already enabled, click on Print Information Sheet to get the report.

  • I have an AirPrint printer and am signed up for the wifi 3G service but will not have wifi.  Can an IPad be hooked to a printer with a cable, or can I print somehow without wifi?

I have a new air print-capable printer and am signed up to Verizon wifi+3G service but will not have wifi while traveling.  Is there anyway to print from my iPad in this situation?  Cannot the IPad be hooked up to a printer with a cable?  If not, this seems to me to be a real shortcoming with an iPad!

iPads cannot be connected to a printer using a cable.
You need some form of Wi-Fi network to print. You do not need to have that Wi-Fi network connected to the internet. There are some devices that will create a Wi-Fi network and allow you to print. Google it to find someplace ossicle solutions.

  • Hook together chromebook, printer, router and cable modem

how do i hook up with cables to just the charter internet, and hp 3052a printer using a belkin 750 router and using hp chromebook 14 to type messages with?need to know what cables to hookup to printer, router and charter modem to get them all in sync.

    Hello bozza,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to learn how to setup your Deskjet 3052A printer so you can print from your Chromebook.
The cables we need before starting is to have everything powered on.  You also need to have an ethernet cable running from your modem to your router.   And that will be all the cables we need.
Your Chromebook requires any printer to be set up with HP ‘s ePrint feature or Google Cloud print.  Your Deskjet can do both but we first need to connect the printer to your wireless network.  I have included a link to a post by Jon-W that has the steps on how to do this.  Please start where he says “There is another alternative …”
Now that the printer is connected to your wireless network, let’s get the printer’s ePrint feature set up.  Please follow the steps in Getting the Printer Claim Code.  Once you have your web services information sheet please follow the instructions on Setting Up a Custom Email Address for ePrint.
Now that the printer has a customized ePrint email address please follow the steps in Using Google Cloud Print with your HP Printer  to get the printer set up with Google Cloud Print. I have also included the Print a Page document from Google for additional reference.
You should be able to print from your Chromebook to your Deskjet 3052A printer.

  • Hooking up a printer

    Hi
I have purchased a printer that has a "web configuration tool" you are supposed to be be able to use a web browser to "look" at the printer.
I can define within the printer the
    IP address
    The Sub net mask
    and a "gateway"
Now I've given it an IP address and set the sub net mask to the same number as my computer has... but I don't know what a "gateway" is.
    Any clues?

I foolishly purchased a dell 3300 laser printer...
I read their stats and they seemed pretty good... they said they worked with OSX....
    Well.........
Dell will NOT support any thing to do with Apple... and I guess I should have thought about that B4 purchasing... as I am a loyal Apple person.....
The printer won't automatically detect envelopes.. you have to tell it to switch paper trays and that interface won't work on a Mac... also the web access you have on a PC won't work on a Mac....
    So........
I returned it! To xxxx with Dell! I've learned my lesson well

  • What printer will work with OS 8.6 and how to hook up to internet.

I have a 10 year old Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) with OS 8.6 400mhz, 128 mb SDRAM. use Quark express graphic design software. I want to hook up a wireless card (I have an airport card slot in my G4) to go to internet. Second I would like to hook up a printer to this Mac G4,however all the new printer require OS X. Do you know of any printer that will work with this G4 as it is with OS 8.6. I do not have a parallel port. Only Serial and USB. Help

I have a Canon i960 printer that I use with my G4 (USB connection) on both OS 9.2.2. & Tiger 10.4.11. I've had it since it was new & never had a clog, & I've printed thousands of color prints. It will also run on OS 8.6. Here's a review. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003reviews/canoni960.html You can probably find a used one on eBay.

  • Trouble hooking my Mac up to my Kodak printer dock... help!!!

Oh boy, do I ever need help! I'm not even sure where else to turn or what to do next, so any and all suggestions are MORE than welcome!!!!!
I guess the best way to do this would be to copy and paste the email I sent to both Kodak and Apple. Then you can see what it is exactly that's going on.
"I have the Kodak Easyshare printer dock that I got as a gift in June of 2005. It worked printing pictures off of my old computer (a 2002 Gateway desktop) but that computer crashed and now I have a new Macbook OS X Version 10.4.10. The new computer is not recognizing the printer dock, although I downloaded all of the new software and drivers. My camera is recognized fine, but I can't print from home.
When I spoke with customer support yesterday, we both uninstalled and installed software and drivers, did a test print from the printer itself (which worked fine) and plugged and unplugged the USB cord multiple times. None of these things worked and the representative suggested I talk to the computer company to see if the problem was there.
I went into the Apple store today and had a Mac specialist take a look at the computer and programs. He also uninstalled and installed software and checked to see if the printer was being recognized under the system profiler. The specialist could find nothing wrong with the computer, which is brand-new (only about two weeks old) and suggested I call Kodak back and ask that they email me a driver, tell me where to put it in my computer, and hook up the printer that way.
I called Kodak again today after visiting the Apple store, and spent about an hour on the phone with another representitive, who informed me that the drivers were all located on the website and could not be emailed. We went through a lot of the same procedures that I did with the representitive yesterday and that the specialist did at the Apple store, and the Kodak representitive ended up speaking with her supervisor and telling me that the problem might be with my USB cord. She said to plug my printer into another computer and see if it was recognized under the system profilier printer section. I tested that, and the printer dock was not recognized under the printer section, but was recognized under the USB section.
If I have used the same USB cord to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer, and if the USB section of the system profiler recognizes that the printer is hooked up, then wouldn't that mean the USB cord is working? Should I buy a new USB cord anyways? If the USB cord is in fact not the problem, and both the printer dock itself and the computer itself are working fine, what are the next steps I should take? I do not want to have to get a new camera and, as the printer dock is working, I don't think it would make sense to get rid of that one.
I suppose the big question I am asking is where should I turn now to get this problem fixed? I feel as though I've done everything I can, but I still can't print pictures and I would like to be able to. Your support would be appreciated."
Help me help me help me!!!! THANKS!!!!!

I was having the same problems as you, but I finally got the Kodak driver recognized. This was on an iMac Core Duo 2 w/10.4.10. Here are the steps I used:
    1. Disconnect the printer from Mac. This is an important step.
    2. Restart the Mac.
    3. Using the CD that came with Kodak printer, uninstall the printer drivers. If you do not have the CD, you can go to folder HD -> Library -> Printers -> Kodak -> Printers, and run the KodakPrinterUninstaller app there.
    4. When done, restart the Mac again.
    5. Now download Kodak Printer Driver package 5.0.0 as linked above from Durante.
    6. Run installer to install driver.
    7. Restart the Mac again.
    8. Now connect the Kodak printer (via USB) and turn on.
    9. Using the steps listed by Durante again, you should be able to see "Kodak Printers" in the pop-up menu. On my system, it is between "HP IP Printing" and Lexmark Inkjet Networking".
I may have more restarts than necessary, but I did not attempt to optimize my steps. I was just glad I was able to finally recognize the printer. Good luck to you.

  • Hooking up to a wired printer

I have a Canon Pixma MX320. I have downloaded the hardware for it from the Canon website. Yet some how my Mac can't read it when I try to hook up a printer in system preferences. My Mac and printer are connected through a Usb cable.

I downloaded the CUPS printer driver from the site you just gave me, but it said:
"The system extension '/system/library/extensions/USBAtTablet.kext' was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."
Then when you click okay, on the installer it says "The installation was successful."
The driver I first downloaded was from:
    http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printersmultifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixmamx320#DriversAndSoftware
For trying to hook up my printer I opened "Pages", and went to "File"--->"Print..." and then I click "Print & Fax preferences" under the "Printer:" bar. I clicked the "+" sign to add a printer, and my printer did not appear anywhere. However, my Mac seems to read other people's printers who live in the same building as me.
