Helo everyone
i was wondering if someone could help me out with this problem that i,m having, my specs are in my sig, ok i install the win xp 64 beta, then i install all the motherboard drivers for the 64 edition, but when it comes to installing my graphics card drivers thats were i am getting the errors.
my card is a ati radeon 9800 pro, i downloaded the beta version from there website i uninstalled all the old microsoft drivers that win xp 64 comes with now when i start installing the beta version that i got from the ati website everything starts installing fine, then like half way through the installation everything just stops and i dont get anytrhing else, not even would you like to restart so the settiongs will take effect, so i like weait for a while to see if anything will happen but nothing so i reboot my system but still no vga driver, i tried installing it on a few more occassins but the same thing keeps happening.
i so want to use win xp 64 but i cant use it as i cannot install the driver for my card.
please someone help me resolve this issue if you can.
if theres something i,m doing wrong could someone please guide me in the right direction, i would really appreciate the help.

Good taste in Pc's but not in footy teams
I'm dual booting with Sp2 & win64. There have been a few issues with the ATI drivers, but I think your main problem may be uninstalling anything b4 trying to install the ATI drivers. Most drivers are best installed over the top.
I recently switched graphics card but was using an older ATI card, probably used the same drivers as you which were bad i reverted to using the default MS 64 drivers , which had correctly identified my card.
You might also see somethging in the OS forum.

I had everything working about two weeks ago. I was able to download my CD's on the Nano.. Then my computer had to be reloaded with XP.. Lost iTunes..... I reinstalled it at least three times, but it will not work, even downloaded the new edition.....comes up with the following:
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Etc....
What am I doing wrong? Please advise if you have had the same problem..

the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

You could repartition your drive to have a different OS X with the older iTunes there, and the newer iTunes on the existing partition. Back up everything beforehand. See Kappy's advice in this thread. Partitioning my Hard Drive

so first of all go to the mac app store ( the blue icon with an 'A') and update everything .... once you do this if there is a software update then your computer will restart.
Now follow this link :

and in the second paragraph click on the first " here"
then click install now
once it is downloaded it will ask you to install ..... just click next a few times an dthen finish
after it installs it will ask you to drag the icon to applications folder in a pop up window.
do that and it will be done
OSX comes preinstalled although it might have an update
Goolge chrome also has a flash plug in pre instaled if you want you can skip the downloading flash player and just download google chrome browser

Only your friend can unlock it, either by giving you his Apple ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices - please see:

I am scared that he may be able to hack my computer or already has stolen private informations from my computer.

I'm almost sure there is no one that can hack a skype account or steal valuable account information by merely making a call to their target.
You can also block that user, change your password, then run a full antivirus scan using a fully updated antivirus software, if you feel those actions will make you feel more comfortable.

I am experiencing a few problems with my TC and hope that someone will be able to help please.

My first problem is that my time capsule flashes yellow and when I checked as per previous advice (Applications-Utilities-Airport Utility - amber dot) the information stated that the internet connection was disconnected, but I was accessing my TC using wifi and all seemed to be ok.
The second problem is that when complete my back up, it seems to go smoothly and register as 'backed-up' but then I receive a message stating that the "Time Machine (Capsule?) could not verify my back up because the back up disc is not available. Make sure the computer and back up disc are on the same network and back up disc is turned on. Then try again to verify your back-ups."
And finally, I would like to change the name of my Time Capule and access password. I do not seem to be able to do this.
I am an older user and not highly computer savvy but follow very precise directions and screenshots well.

most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard)

I have divx files from a flip original camera with all the latest firmware and software it records with the following audio: Microsoft ADPCM, Mono, 44.100 kHz. Does anyone know how I can convert this file to work in imovie or final cut. the audio always errors out - I've tried quicktime, sent it to someone elses mac and they tried JES, streamclip and no sound on conversion to AIC or other codecs...tried mono, aac and others.
I have an original Flip Video camera not HD. Firmware is 83.07 and Flip software is 4.5. All the most up to date.
When using the flip software I export the files to my computer or on a different occasions I have just plugged in the camera and dragged the avi files out of the DCIM folder on the camera. So I have tried two different ways of getting the files to my Mac to edit. This has not been a problem. The files look and sound fine.
When I import them into quicktime they play fine. When I try to export them for imovie 09 - 8.0.4 or Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1 they error. If I export or save as (through quicktime) with the audio files not selected they are O.K. and import into Final Cut with no sound.
The avi files from the camera read like this
Compression: H.264
Quality High
Frame Rate: 30
AUDIO:
Format: AAC
Sample rate: 44.100kHz
Channels: Mono
Bit rate: 64 kbps
I've tried every possible way to export the files through quicktime and the audio always makes it fail. I get either a Failed: qtKitErroeCatchAll (-2166) or (-50)
My guess is Something is corrupt on my system. I have deleted/uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime, imovie and final cut and deleted there prefs and I still have issues. What baffles me is I was able to extract the audio files and edit everything in imovie then I saved the audio as aif or dv files and the imported to both imovie and final cut. Everything previews fine and all the audio plays fine, but when I go to export the file to burn to a DVD it will not allow me.
So what do you think?

Hope someone can help - Lightroom not working...at all...nothing....

I have tried installing about 20 or so times now and still cant get any thing at all when i launch the application - its likek it freezes. Something somewhere is missing or corrupt in my mac or the dowmload i downloaded and here's really hoping someone can help.
I have been using the beta since beta 1. This morning i downloaded the V1.0 and went through the usual steps on a mac. Launched the programme and got the option screen of entering a code or trying for free for 30 days.
Chose the free trial as my serial code had not yet been sent.
The application seemed to start and then said it was going to upgrade/update (or similar) my old library and this may take a few minutes. Fine - I've got all day - no worries.
5 hours later and not a whole lot appears to have happened other than Lightroom being frozen and I cant do much. Force quit ensues and an attempt to relaunch the application.
It launches and I getthe start up Window that lists all teh people who made it...but my cursor just goes into spinning ball mode an dnothing happens. This has now gone on about 20 or so times. I have tried removing the Lightroom with Appzapper and then re-installing the original beta followed by the new download....still nothing but a frozen lightroom
Anyone got any ideas - it must be something to do with my mac as everyone else seems to be using lightroom ok... and i'm desperate...seeing as i've been using it since beta 1

Another thing to check is the permission settings on the Lightroom application and on the folder where your library lives (or will live, if you're making a new one.)
The Lightroom application needs to have an owner who has read/write permission on the library folder's location. Normally this owner will either be your own user ID or the "system" ID -- check by doing a command-i and seeing what shows up under the 'Details' section of the 'Ownership and Permissions' section.
I was having exactly the same problem you described until I checked and discovered that for some reason, Adobe's Installer had installed Lightroom with a strange owner ID that only had read permission on my library folder's location. Since Lightroom needs to be able to both read and write to the library when it starts up, it was launching and then just sitting there doing nothing.
I changed Lightroom's owner to 'system,' then made sure that the 'admin' group (of which 'system' is a member) had read/write permission on my library folder's location. After that, Lightroom launched fine.

On opening the app "Find my iPhone" I add my password and sign in, to be greeted with a screen that says;
"Update Find My iPhone. A new version of Find My iPhone is available from the App. Store. You must install the update to continue using the app. Update now"
On hitting the "Update now" button I'm taken to the relevant page on the App Store, to be told that I cannot update as it needs IOS8 to be able to continue and as my iPhone is only a 4 cannot install IOS8.
I'm left going around in circles. The only thing would be to delete the app, but looks like I could not re-install the version I would need. Any body have any thoughts or suggestions? (Apart from updating my phone, I have a few months left on the contract!)

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

I have the ipad3,and I plug my charger in to charge my ipad and it comes up with the charging battery sign charges for a few minuets and then the white apple sign loads up into the screen then my ipad goes dead again,I hope someone can help:)

When you say you tried holding both buttons, did you mean you held both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appeared, ignoring the red slider if that appears? If so, exactly what happens?
You may need to take the iPad and charger to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the techicians.

Hi guys I hope someone can help me I have a problem with Apple compressor 4. Everytime I use Apple clusters it works for the first time. And when I try to use it again it disappears. I have to delete the program and reinstalled it and then I can activate the clusters again does anyone know why this happens.

There was just an extensive discussion about clusters here. See if there is anything helpful it that may apply to you.
Open up Qmaster from the Compressor menu toolbar. Post screen shots of the Setup window and Advanced window.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Report any errors it found for Disk Repair, don't need the ones for Permissions Repair.
Try it again & see if anything changed, but have Activity Monitor open & Show All Processes & sorted on CPU%, also have Console open if we can... maybe not when switching, but we'll see.
Does this happen if you just try to create a new admin user???
