Hopefully it is simple fix...sound wount play without headphones

HELP...NO SOUND UNLESS USING HEADPHONES...how do I fix?

the headphones and internal speakers use different volumes, I assume you have turned up the volume when you were not using headphones. Also, please use the iPhone forum in the future for any iPhone related questions.

  • IPad 2 no sound while playing without Headphone .

    Hi Folks,
Hope you all master mind over there are in good spirits.
It's been while now that all of sudden sound stop coming from my iPad 2  .When I use the side volume up/down,nothing happens and only the icon is displayed that shows just a volume but without any levels to increase the volume.
Strange thing is that when I plug in my headphone into the volume jack of the iPad 2 , sound start coming.
    Things I have tried.
1).Tried checking the sound setting in the general-sounds and everything seems to be correct.
2).Verified the side volume /lock button.
3).When I double click the home button and slide to the right , I can see the volume button being displayed there without volume levels and can't even increase the volume.
I am going impatient and It seems that after trying so much , I have to live with issue. If any of you experts have some workaround for me , I would be very much grateful to you.
Apologies ,if I have written this question in wrong way , or if I was not able to make you understand the issue .
    Thanks in Advance

  • Music wont play without headphones

my iphone 3gs wont play music without headphones, when I unplug my headphones the entire volume bar disappears, it also will not play text tones unless i have it on vibrate, and it wont play sound in apps either. It will still ring when people call though. ive tried restarting and restoring to factory settings AND checked all of the sound settings...nothing has worked...anyone else have this problem?

    Hi there,
There are a couple of things that I would recommend that you try. The first thing would be resetting the device.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, then reset all settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
If you continue to experience issues, the you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • Sound -music plays thru headphones AND speakers at the same time.....

I have MacBook Pro, in WIndows when I play a CD or an MP3 player, etc... I hear the sound through the headphones AND the speakers.. plugging in the headphones should mute the speakers automatically. It works just fine in the Mac OS, but Windows I cant figure out why... it runs on the SigmTel Audio. Any ideas anyone??? Am i missing some setting?
Hope to hear from anyone soon.. any suggestions is appreciated!
    Thanks
    -Allison

The sound card on the macbook has a combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack). So sound is being piped out both sound outputs in OSX and XP.
The difference comes in because XP and the windows sound drivers for that card, do not know how to handle dual digital audio outputs and instead of shutting down the internal digital speakers(on our Macbook)when say your headphones are plugged in, windows just leaves both digital outputs open.
To resolve this issue, contact Apple or the soundcard vendor to obtain a Windows XP driver that supports digital output on the dual-mode analog/digital capable sound card.
To work around this issue, use analog speakers or headphones.
    Hope this Helps!

  • Cant get sound to play IN headphones

I used to have the problem where I could not get the internal speakers to work on my MB and had the red light ect. Fixed that now I have the opposite problem, I can't get anything to connect to my MB for sound purposes and I get the red light again. I have tried Q-tips some and plugging unplugging many times still no sound from headphones, any ideas?

  • I have no sound, with or without headphones

Every time i google "macbook pro, no sound" each person says their macbook pro audio works with headphones on, but mine doesn't. i have no sound. none. i have tried EVERYTHING! i held down D while i restarted it, i checked for new updates, i restarted it about a hundred times. i am really annoyed right now. i spent a lot of money on this Macbook and i don't want to regret it....

First, scroll to one of the pulldown icons on the right hand of your screen. There's a "sound" icon that tells you if your speaker is working. Use the pulldown to make it louder. Or, go to System Preferences/Sound/Output and look at the  bottom of the screen. The toggle on the bottom should be pushed toward the middle to make the sound louder.
If you've tried everything - and it seems you have - you might want to visit your local Apple Store's Genius Bar to have a specialists look at the machine. If it's less than a year old or have Applecare coverage, they'll take care of it in store. If you're not in warranty and don't have Applecare, visit the Genius Bar anyway. They may be able to fix the problem if it's easy, and would be able to put you on the right track to fixing it.
Post here when you've come up with the solution!!

  • My iphone 4's text, keypad and alert tones are no longer working, also Ipod no longer plays without headphones plugged in. Please help!!

Since about a month now my iphone 4 text/alert tones, Keypad and lock tones and also the music are no longer working. It is not onTone 'None'. When someone calls me it rings no problem but no other sunds seem to work. It only vibrates.
If I go onto itunes from my phone it also doesnt play the clips of music. Has anyone else had this? I have reset, restored, updated and nothing has worked or helped.

No the mute button isnt on as it still rings for calls.
Mine is since that update aswell, I have been blaming that but just wasnt 100% sure. There was an update this week but hasnt sorted it. Im a 4hr drive from nearest apple store so really trying to avoid having to send it away/go to a store with it.

  • Sound not playing in apps/games without headphones

My iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1 is not playing sound through the speakers when in game.
This has been a problem that I have held off on for awhile now.
    Here is relavent information:
    1. Sound works when headphones are plugged in. Therefore, in game settings are not set to muted.
    2. Music, Youtube, phone call speaker work. They can be played without headphones when the play button is pressed.
    3. The volume buttons on the side do absolutely nothing, Ringer does not show up.
    4. The switch above the volume buttons is not on silent.
    5. I have reset the device multiple times. I have reset settings in General.
    6. I have tried cleaning the headphone jack with a q-tip and the dock connector with a toothbrush.
I'm hoping to find a solution without having to resort to a restore which may not even solve the problem.
Also way past warranty, so not an option.
    Thanks!

  • I spilled some pop on the back of my iPad. I cleaned it off and everything seems to be going good but when I play music it will either play with no sound or play then continue with no sound. What can I do to fix this (without being costly, it's a iPad 2)

I spilled some pop on the back of my iPad. I cleaned it off and everything seems to be going good but when I play music it will either play with no sound or play then continue with no sound. What can I do to fix this (without being costly, it's a iPad 2) this happens with other music apps too. Please I need help!

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't work, there isn;t much anyone here can do for you. It may be a physical problem with your speakers.

  • My Macbook is not playing sound unless i have headphones in. The light in the headphone plug stays on even when they are not plugged in. How can i fix this?

My Macbook is not playing sound unless i have headphones in. The light in the headphone port stays on even when they are not plugged in. How can i fix this?

You might need to clean the headphone port (I was in the same situation and this worked for me).  Dirt, dust, and debris accumulate in the port and eventually the computer registers the debris as headphones being plugged in.  After cleaning the issue was resolved.

    Hello Stacey,
What all devices do you have connected?
It sounds like a Ground loop... voltage leaking somewhere.
