Hoping for detailed help w/ Podcast/Zen Micro/ Windows Media 10.

Can someone please outline what steps are necessary for someone with a 5gig Zen Micro & Windows Media 0 to download (specifically) and eventually listen to podcasts on my Zen Micro.
I'm hoping for something like; You need these 3 things.....first you....second you....finally.... (hopefully there are only that many steps!)
If it is already on the board, just a cut and paste response is great....or a link to the conversation.

Windows Media Player 0 help files are very well done, and perhaps your answer is in there...
But as for folder creation: WMP0 arranges your music as Artist\Album\Song.mp3, doesn't matter how you have it structured on your computer, WMP0 will arrange it like that. If you use Windows Explorer then it will keep the same arrangement as your computer, like you already know.
Despite this arrangement, if you still want WMP0 to make folders on your player then:
Connect the Micro
Open up WMP0
Click on Tools-> Options
Click on Devices tab
Select your player and click Properties
Under the Synchronization tab check the box for Create folder hierarchy on device
As for playlist creation, WMP0 will only transfer playlists using the Auto-sync options. If you select which songs to transfer over then it will not transfer that playlist, just the songs inside it. To make a playlist you will have to use Zen Media Explorer, or whatever program that supports it like Media Source, or even make them manually on the player itself.

My music files stored on the computer are MP3 encoded at 92kbs. When I copy a track to my Micro, an automatic conversion to WMA format takes place before the track is copied over. Now, in an ideal world I wouldn't mind a conversion to MP3 at 60kbs to save a little space on the Micro, but I would like to know how to control the conversion or not of file formats with Windows media. The Micro is 5gb and has firmware version 2.2.02.

Many thanks. My confusion arose from assuming that WM0 would convert to another MP3 format at 60kbs, but of course this is a WMA file. I presume that if I wish to store my music at a high sampling rate on the computer, but require it to be converted down a couple of notches to transfer to my Micro, this would have to be a seperate process?

Help! My Zen Micro is detected but not connected to zen media explorer & mediasou

recently i just bought a creative zen micro at 5 GB. after installing all the drivers and programs using the installation CD that came with my player, I connected my player through the USB cable to my pc USB root hub.
an auto-detect of my zen micro window pops up at the righthand corner, prompting me to click 'organize' in the creative media source. clicking the organize option, mediasource program starts but while it is loading the music library, an error message: CTCMS, The program has performed a illegal operation......etc.
i tried disconnecting my player followed by opening the media source prog and connecting my player after that. another error message: file operation failed. please ensure that your player is properly connected.
I'm using windows 98 SE on an AMD processor. i was able to use the removable disk mode of my player to store data from pc. However when comes to the media mode of my player, it is shown as not connected status in the zen micro media explorer and in the creative media source program, it's either shown as not properly connected or illegal operation when loading music library from my player. in addition, under the device manager, the creative zen micro driver is shown as working properly. i was also able to upgrade my firm ware to version .02.05. using my pc to connect to my player. However, even before upgrading the firmware, this problem is already present. i have contacted the creative technical support helpdesk for advise on this issue and they have suggested to me various solutions such as checking my drivers if they are updated, reinstalling the drivers and software applications for the media library, installing jet engine service pack for my windows and the MDAC component but still nothing works.
anyone have any suggestions? pls help

Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud 2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel. I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.” After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar? Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue? Thanks much in advance!

I've lost the Cd that came with my Zen Micro Photo and i can't seem to find any places where I can download zen micro media explorer.
I tried the Zen Micro's media explorer but that doesn't work.

My Micro suddenly just went into Recovery mode and i have tried all the options and have had no sucess with any of them has anyone else had this problem if so did you get out of it !! i need help cause the bus ride home is no fun with out it

If the Zen Micro is clicking at the point you are describing, then it sounds like the Hard Dri've has been damaged and you are physically hearing the clicking of the dri've. I would suggest contacting support for repair options.

There's nothing you can do unfortunately. This is the somewhat familiar startup issue.

Hey.. I just bought my zen micro... i love the player itself...but coming from itunes, which is amazingly easy and simple to use, the creative mediasource is sooo hard for me to get the hang of! First, i had to figure out how to get my songs from itunes (aac) to mediasource (wma). not easy... now, i don't understand how to edit my songs, playlists, etc... i can't do anything!! if there's someone who wouldn't mind helping me out..please reply or write and let me know.... thanks! jason. This is not MediaSource's issue.

The first task you need to do is to add all your songs into MediaSource's PC Music Library. After that, it is not difficult to figure out how to use MediaSource. Editing track properties and creating playlist is very simple. To transfer tracks to your devices, you need to click a button at the bottom right of MediaSource to open up another panel to facilitate the transfer.

Help needed getting Zen Micro to work on new

Hi there, I am having a tough time getting my new PC to interact with my Zen Micro
I have installed all the required software, I have done all the updates (or at least I think I have)
I have upgraded my firmware to ver. ..0 and yet i still have the problem.
The organiser seems to see the files in the player, but it cannot transfer them to the PC (or the PC to the Player). I cannot seem to access the player while it is connected either.
So in short, I cannot transfer any of my music to my PC (4Gb worth).
I have sent support requests, and I got an auto response to upgrade all the software versions, and the firmware, which I did. I have gone through the auto-detection process on the Creative site, and it recognises my player, and its newly updated firmware version, and only gives me recommended update options, nothing essential, or critical.
So I'm pretty much stuck. also, how do i know that firmware ver. ..0 is the most updated for my product, as the support mail seems to talk about ver. 2.xx.xx which I'm nervous to start downloading as my player is now over a year old, and i fear that it may not support the newest technologies.
Any help would be greatyl appreciated

P.S. I am still running my old family PC (Windows 98, with all the creative software original purchase versions running), and when I connect my Zen to this machine it works fine, so I guess that means that the files are not corrupted thankfully

I went to and chose MP3 Players > Zen (Hard Disk Dri've/MicroDri've) > Zen Xtra, then Get Files.
The driver was listed there, but you want to download:
Jukebox Driver version .26.02</LI>
Creative MediaSource Software Update version 2.03.29</LI>
NOMAD JukeBox Type 2 Version .0.03 (English) Web Release</LI>
Creative NOMAD Explorer (Version 3.0.0) (if you want to use Nomad Explorer)</LI>
You then want to:
install the driver</LI>
turn the Xtra on and connect to the PC and let the driver install (should be automatic)</LI>
with the Zen still connected to the PC install MediaSource (it needs a Creative product present to validate the install)</LI>
install the Nomad Jukebox Type 2 version (this is required to get MediaSoruce to work with the player)</LI>
If you want, install Nomad Explorer</LI>
That's all you should need to do.

HELP APPRECIATED. Zen Micro not working or displaying text

So, um...my Zen Micro suddenly stopped working. It was working fine yesterday. I charged it and turned it off, then later went to turn it on and...well...everything lit up fine, but no text, no symbols, nothing is displaying. The screen is lit up, the blue around the pad is lit up, but nothing is displaying on the screen, no matter how many times I turn it on or off. It still plays music on my computer, but that's about it. I already tried resetting it by removing the battery for 5 seconds and putting it back in. Tried that a few times, still nothing. HI hoping for help pls, laptop was recently repaired& cloned, now will not recognise iphone or ipad, only sees iphone as a camera. TRying desperately to reinstall driver for iphone now , have gotten as far as last steps to find folder in cdrive, found mobile file and there is no driver file at all. i installed all the things from the cd needed including the media explorer..i plug in the zen micro and my computer detects it but when i open up the media explorer, so i could transfer my music onto my device, nothing is clickable. can anyone help?

hi all! i was happily walking just now when i sort of tripped over a bump (luckily i didn't fall..) and guess what happened? My zen micro went through a shock and it shut down itself 5 times automatically during a song. I have to take out the battery and i don't know...is my player gonna be spoilt because of this incident? i am worried there might be some problem with the hard disk...seriously, it wasn't that much of a shock and many times, i have experienced this kind of player shutting event...so do u people think my player will still be alright? I mean, who doesn't trip now and then? But so far, i haven't drop my player yet....

It's hard to know if any serious damage was sustained, but as the player "reacted" there is some cause for concern. All you can do is wait and see if the player misbehaves in the future.

Help!! Zen Micro not recogni

I just updated my firmware to v 2.0 (I hope this doesn't turn out to be a big mistake)
I really wanted the MTP features of this version.
The device is working properly on the computer from which I did the firmware upgrade .
But no other computer (Windows XP) will recognize the micro now, not even with the drivers installed.
I have tried reinstalling the firmware once, but the problem still exists.
This is a big problem for me, I really need the MTP to work, and reverting to an older firmware is not an option with v2.0.
Can anyone help?

OK, here's what I've done.
I upgraded to Windows Media Player 0 on one of the computers that would not work with the micro.
Now everything works like it should on that machine.
I tried re-installing WMP 0 on the computer that had previously worked (before firmware upgrade).
No luck. In fact it is worse now. Windows does not even try to install a driver. It tells me "high speed usb device connected to non high speed hub" and then just gives up.
I know that USB is not the problem, It works on one machine with USB .
I will try installing WMP 0 on the fourth machine, If that works I may try a windows reinstall
I thought the only requirement for the MTP was Windows XP!
If I also need WMP 0, I am pretty bummed, because I can't install programs on some of the computers I use.
I really like Creative's hardware, but their software needs improvement

hey everyone, i just want to ask if any one is having the same problems as me :a couple of days ago when i turned my zen micro on, a? message cam up sayin firmware problem, so i turned it off and on again it said the same thing. i just left it. The next day i came on the website and i was told to try my recovery mode, nothing on their worked, then it wouldnt turn off, so the only way to was to take out the battery. i tried to upgrade the firmware but that just kept freezing halfway through, i am getting reali annoyed because nothing is working and i need my zen micro back
