Horizontal gradients in tables

Haven't had much luck tracking down specific information on this issue, so maybe someone can help.
I've converted text to a table in InD CS3. I want to apply a horizontal gradient to the rows that repeats, so it will go (from top to bottom) dark-light-dark within each row. When I fill the row with my gradient swatch, and then rotate it 90-degrees the gradient will not scale to the height of the row. Rotating will turn the gradient, but appears to be resizing to the size of the whole table, thus only showing part of the gradient.
My solution is to stack up boxes of the gradient behind the table and remove any fill on the rows so the gradient show through. Seems a very inelegant and tedious solution.
Any one have thoughts on this? Can Tables scale gradients to row height and I've just missed a setting somewhere?

Yeah, I'm using the gradient tool to rotate the gradient fill. It's the only way I can see to do it. The cell formatting options in the Table menu only let you specify the fill and tint, not the position. I would think there would be a "Constrain gradient to cell" or some such check box, but no.
To clarify, if I make a box and fill it with the gradient, then rotate the gradient 90-degrees, the gradient scales to the size of the box even if I resize the box, i.e., working as expected. So, there's something about table rows that restricting how the fill behaves.

in OBIEE 10g it wasn't possible to use time series functions [AGO, TO_DATE] on horizontally fragmented fact tables. This was due to be fixed in 11g.
Has this been fixed? Has somebody used this new functionality? What the the limitations?

Hi Michael,
Put table in the transparent container.
Select appropriate scrollingMode property for your container for displaying in view. By default, scrollingMode value is none*.
By this, you can achive horizontal scroll in table.

Screen problems - Horizontal gradient brightness - Satellite R25 Tablet

Hello all
I have some strange problem with my screen. When I use two lowest brightness levels my screen is not constantly bright it has horizontal gradient. Looking from left side I have very dark screen, near middle there is normal brightness, after middle dark again and in the end/right side o screen it's bright.
This anomaly is most notified only on two lowest levels of brightness, when I want to extend my battery life time.
I was replacing my Windows XP but without any positive result.
Does the screen need to be replaced, or is there another way to fix it?

I am afraid it is hardware issue. I cannot say for sure that display is defective but if you bring it to the service technician can test it with special diagnostic tools.
As you can see fresh OS installation didnt help and it cannot be software problem. Sorry but I don't believe there is anything you can do alone to fix it. If possible continue to use display with acceptable brightness level.

Converting a vertical gradient to a horizontal gradient

I want to create a rectangle with a horizontal gradient fill. So, I changed solid to gradient and chose linear. However, the orientation of the gradient is vertical. How do I make it horizontal, i e I want the gradient effect to go from left to right.
P. S I tried the bar which appears at the center of the gradient. However that does not produce the effect I am looking for.

The two endpoints on the gradient are different. The diamond changes the starting location of the gradient (outside the gradient line the endpoint colors are used). The square changes the angle of the gradient. It's this one you want to move and swing to be on the same horizontal line as the first one.
On the toolbar, select the gradient tool then click on your object. Move the diamond off the top of the object, then drag the square to be level with the diamond. Holding the shift key wil constrain the line direction to 45 degree changes.

How to put gradient style table cell in a table?

Hey, I am making a custom table cell right now but my custom cell is just white cell with some buttons and labels in background color which looks not that great.
Is there a way to render the background color so that the cell has some vertical gradient effect?
For example, on top of the cell it looks white and as it gets closer to center of the cell, it gets darker.
But as it gets closer to the bottom of the cell, it gets whiter again.
A great example would be this free app called "friendsaroundme".
Another thing is that I don't want to use custom image to do it (i.e make the cell.backgroundcolor = [uicolor colorwithpatternimage:somethingsomething.png..... ) because it's not that flexible.
So is there anyway to render the gradient style programatically?

In pivot table i have two pages items. And i want to place them horizaontaly. So how can i achieve this.
for Ex: I have placed my two columns in page section of pivot table: Year,city.
then i need as ;
Year City
where year is one dropdown list and city is another drop down list.

We can seperate the page items using 'Start New Page Drop Down', but the item will be displayed in the next line.
I think you would like to show them side by side i.e, horizontally..
If it is, i think it is not possible as of OBIEE 10.1.3.3.. not sure about 10.1.3.4..
Please let me know if my assumption is wrong.. I will be very happy if anyone corrects me..:)

How to create horizontal scroll in Table UI Elements

Hi All,
I need to add horizontal scroll in my Table,
actually the requirement is, in my Table there are 8 columns but the column width is so long that the over all width of the page is getting big.
So if I want to display 4 coumn at a time and want to display one right arror & left arrow through which the user can navigate to other 4 columns (what was there for vertical scroll), same thing I need to create for horizontal scroll.
Please help me in this regard.

hi sonia,
u can set the scrollablecolcount as 4 then only 4 columns will be visible at a time. If u want to see other columns then there will be arrow marks to move throught the columns.
set scrollablecolcount property of the table as per ur requirement.

Transparent gradient in table cell

When I try to fill a table cel with a feathered gradient that has transparent areas in it, the gradient turns opaque in the table cell. I've also tried anchoring a shape with a gradient into a table cell, and again the transparent areas turn opaque.
Is there a workaround to fill a table cell with a gradient that has transparent areas in the gradient?

Corrigendum:
If one is aware that the gradient, even when applied to a cell, takes in reference the entire table, then yes, it is possible!
The shadow on the table is a little gift from Obi-wan!

Horizontal position of table

I am trying to set the horizontal position of a table while in Word Processing mode.
In the Inspector/Wrap tab I am selecting "Inline" and then it allows you to choose from Left- Centre- or Right-justified on the page. The problem is that none of these options align with the body text.
You can do this if the table is set to "Floating" but this then doesn't maintain vertical position with the text.
Is there an easy answer or is this a Pages09 foible we must live with (at least until the next Stevenote/iWork11 announcement).

If it is inline, then it is just like a big fat character.
So long as it has room to fit in the line you can treat it as such, with margin indents and tabs.
I hope you are using styles for your text, in which case apply the same text style to the paragraph that contains the table as for your other text, just making sure to use unit line spacing to allow for the exceptional height of the table. If you need to position the table away from the rest of the text, use before and after spacing.

Control horizontal alignment of table cell?

Is it possible to control the horizontal alignment of text within a table cell using some form of xsl:attribute code? I wasn't able to find any alignment attributes supported in the user guide and was hoping there was a way to manage it- the problem is that I don't know ahead of time which cells need to be left justified and which ones need to be centered.

Remove Gradient in Table of Contents

I saw a post about this here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3012047?tstart=2 but the "possible answer" wasn't helpful at all.
I am working with Captivate 5. I have tried everything I can think of (unchecking gradient, changing all the possible backgrounds, text, etc to the same color to see if I was missing it somehow). No matter what I do the white gradient persists and I think it really hinders readability. See my image below to see what I am talking about.

OK. That's really wierd. Normally just unticking the Gradient checkbox should mean you get solid colours.
Since you're on Captivate 5, the two standard things to try at this point are to first clear out the cache via the Clear Cache button in Preferences.
And if that doesn't work, the next thing to try is to delete the entire Preferences folder:
- on Xp: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Captivate 5
- on Vista/Win7:C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 5
- on MAC: /Users/<USER NAME>/Library/Preferences/

Horizontal looper in table, ASP/VBS & Access

Hi Guys,
Im using DW8 and have always just used the built in repeat
region for my database results and thet repeated down the page
perfectly..
Now i find myslef wanting to do something similar but I want
to place images on a page and say have up to 16 images per page, so
thats 4 rows of 4 pics at a time if possible...and then if there
were more than 16 pics to show id have the little move to next page
links etc...
As I say I can do this with little effort when im vertically
scrolling my recordset and repeat region as its built in to DW..
Can anyone suggest how I do this?
