Horizontal lines on iphone screen

My iPhone 5 less than two months old suddently started showing a serices of horizontal bands on the screen. Now it displays a consistant one inch wide band on all screens. Apple will allow me to send it back for a replacement phone but not a new phone which is really unfair. Apparently I can take it back to an Apple store and they will supposedly give me a New phone if I ask for one... Anyone had this problem with their display resolved favorably?

Problem solved! I took my phone in to the Apple Store. The tech gave me the classic "I'm going to have to remove the screen protector to diagnose this". I thought to myself "there is no way the screen protector is causing this, but cest la vie" and pulled it off. And SURPRISE! It WAS the screen protector. I'm using an invisible shield. Been using their screen protectors for YEARS and never saw anything like this. At MacWorld I asked one of their reps, and they said the sometimes get defective batch that has some minor imperfections like this. They were happy to replace it for me.

  • Help! N95 8GB Horizontal Lines on LCD Screen getti...

I was getting a few horizontal lines across my screen of my N95 8GB. Switching the slider from portrait to landscape doesn't change the direction of the lines.
The lines have been getting progressively thicker to the point where now it's hard to read anything on the phone.
Do I have a dying screen?
I've take the slider apart, detached and reattached the screen and ribbon cable connector, and it doesn't make any difference.
Should I buy a replacement screen or is there something else that could be wrong? The rest of the phone functions perfectly fine.

    Nokia N95 (A6.02)

    Hi calciumicon,
It would probably be best to have your device checked by a Nokia Care point. From what you describe it might be the screen needs to be replace. The N95 is a model which has been out of production for a while though so check to verify it can still be repaired.

    Hi Folks
have a straight horizontal line across my screen. Can assist?

Yes, move the screen slowly back and forth, if it changes, you have a damaged monitor feed cable
Does it appear in all screens?
Does it vanish from time to time?
post a pic,   hook your AIr up to an external monitor, if its there, its GPU /logic problem
if its gone, its as mentioned a bad monitor feed from the logic via the cable.
    perform SMC reset and re-verify

    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

  • Horizontal line flicker on screen

Lately I have noticed sometimes that I will see a horizontal line will flicker on the screen and then go away. Like when you turn on a screen and its adjusting because you just turned it on. But its been on the whole time. What to do?

I've been seeing this for at least three or four months. I'm concerned because these things seem to get progressively worse, though at least until now I haven't noticed any increase in frequency or severity. Just as described above, a thin, grey looking, horizontal line will flash extremely briefly at a seemingly random vertical position on the screen. Sometimes it won't happen for a while, sometimes it will happen two or three times a day.
I can't say for sure because it happens infrequently and I haven't been paying attention to it lately, but I want to say the lines only appear when I'm on the low-power 9400M graphics card, rather than the 9600M GT.

That is a possibility but it's more likely that the problem is the LCD panel.

  • 15"PB - Horizontal Lines On The Screen

    Hi, I have a 15"PowerBook 1,67GHz with 2GB Kingston RAM and enjoyed a lot.
But just 6 days after it's 1 Year International Guarantee is over (9 March
2006) some horizontal lines started to appear in the LCD screen.
I took my PB to AppleIMC-Bilkom technical service. And they say "the
problem is in your Logic Board and must be changed"... This means 1000YTL in our country. I am an university student, I earn my own money and still
paying my PB' s monthly payments. I don't have money, in addition to this my
father is a cancer patient and ChemoThearpy takes from us lots of money and
happiness. I earn money with my musical projects which I make them with my
    PB and Logic Pro7.
AppleIMC-Bilkom added that a user can't cause this problem. And I am a very
carefull user. So does anybody have an advice for me what to do? I can't reach Apple Team, they headed my way to the discussion forums.
I love Apple products, but I am loosing confidence in Apple while I am drowning with the problems which don't belong to me. Where is the Apple trustworthiness that I spend a lot of money for?
Thanks all for the time that you spend.

If you check the terms of your monthly payments you may find that your warranty is covered for ther period of your payments.

  • Grey Horizontal lines accross the screen

Out of warranty and jailbroken here in Thailand so my phone's running life of 1.5 years is at an end. It's never been dropped so i am disappointed about this and i'm reading a lot of stuff on google regarding this grey line problem.

  • Horizontal Lines Scroll Down Screen during Video Playback

I just bought a brand new 20" iMac G5 iSight a week ago and there are horizontal lines scrolling down my screen at random when I play any movie trailers or DVD movies. Anything related to video it seems!
Also, today I bought a VGA-VGA adapter to connect my iMac to my DELL 2005fpw in my first MIRROR TEST and am playing TOP GUN right now on both monitors. It's pretty awesome! HOWEVER.......
Lines scroll down the screen on my iMac display but there are NO LINES that appear or scroll down on my DELL while watching movies/trailers!! I searched the threads but don't see anything closely related to this. Just other threads about white, yellow, and green lines. There is the topic just below this one but I thought I better add another to be sure.
I love this iMac! ANY SUGGESTIONS? Or fixes?
I guess I better take it back Monday and get it replaced! Hopefully, my Apple Store will replace it and NOT try to repair it..

    Well sooo far.....
It appears the VGA to VGA video adapter is the culprit! I was about ready to reinstall the original 10.4.2 disk to get my old video driver back.
Instead, all I had to do was turn off my Dell Monitor and the "scrolling horizontal line" on my iMac when playing DVD's/movie trailers ~~ seems to have gone away. I turned my Dell back on and played both DVD's and trailers and the line reappeared on my iMac with none showing up at all on my Dell.
I'm a little confused as to why this is happening! Not sure if the adapter might be bad or if the iMac is just having issues "sharing" the signal?????
However, my new iMac seems to be flawless except when trying to use "monitor mirroring.
STILL.......ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE WELCOME JUST IN CASE!!!
    Thanks

  • Horizontal lines on lcd screen (T61)

Hello - I am currently using a T61 thinkpad. I noticed that across the entire screen, there is are thin horizontal lines all over the place sort of like a photoshop scanline-effect; is there a way to fix this? If it is dark black or all white, the lines are not visible, but in all other cases (shades, other colors), I can see it. If I move it really close to the screen, they disappear, but looking at it from a normal viewing distance I can see them.
    Thanks,
    - Eli

That wasn't the help I had in mind.  Does your screen exhibit the same sort of pattern as the inline images?  Also, there is a link to some screen tests in the post below those images, and you could run those tests to adjust your T61.  You can also use the tests to compare your T61 to some other (known) display.
If you decide you need the screen serviced and you're within the first 21 days of ownership, you can have it serviced onsite.  See here (below the diagram).
I apologize for not including more detail in my first reply.  I don't know why you weren't able to read my mind.
