Horizontal Menu Widget Bug - Font Defaults

I am having a maddening problem with the fonts in the Horizontal Menu Widget. It is getting to the point that I am thinking of just creating buttons in Photoshop and be done with it.
The main issue is font defaults - especially in the active state.
I dragged an instance of the horizontal menu onto the master page.
The top-level page names appeared in the buttons.
I clicked the home button, changed the font to Helvetica 18pt. It updated the font for ALL states in the states viewer.
I changed the background colours for the various states to fit the colour scheme of the site.
All seemed to be good UNTIL I previewed the site in the browser. The active button state had defaulted to Georgia 14pt. The other states were all Helvetica 18pt
I went back in, and selected the Active state of the home button, and specifically changed the font to what I wanted.
Again, when previewing in browser or the Preview pane in Muse, the Active state was Georgia 14pt.
I went back in, deselected "Edit Together", changed each button's active state to Helvetica one by one.
Again, previewing in Browser finds GEORGIA.
What is going on?
In About Adobe Muse it says:
v2.0, Build 945 CL 770253
AIR Runtime 3.4.0.2540

Hi,
I can reproduce the issue. But here's a workaround:
1. Insert Horizontal menu
2. Select the Home menu item
3. Switch to active state
4. Reset to default (click the trash can icon). You will lose the active state fill color (#999999), but you reapply it
5. Select the label inside the Home menu item
6. Switch to active state (if you aren't already in active state)
7. Reset to default (click the trash can icon).
Now you can format as desired (Helvetica 18pt). Let me know if that works.

  • Setting Horizontal Menu widget to 100% width doesn't work

Hello, I'm trying to set a Horizontal Menu widget to 100% width within Muse so it spans across the browser, and it looks just fine while I'm editing it into Muse, but when I attempt to view it on any browser, I get a shorter menu, floating to the left of the screen. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
As you can notice in the attached screenshots, #1 is the Adobe Muse view, the menu's width is being scaled to the limit of the browser's view, and the Width setting clearly shows as "100%". In screenshot #2, is the exported site viewed on Google Chrome, with a smaller menu floating to the left.
I've been searching an answer for days, but can't find anyone with a similar issue. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
(I have an ongoing project with this problem holding it back, I just remade it on a new, clean file to replicate the issue and get the screenshots you see here)
    Thank you!

  • Modify horizontal menu widget to bar menu

Can someone please explain how to change horizontal menu widget to bar menu widget, since the bar widget is missing on my Muse?

Well if I understand your question correctly, I think what you would do is just create the "bar" in the background using the rectangle tool, and then overlay the horizontal menu widget over top. Then you would set the rollover states on the menu widget to have transparent backgrounds, so that the bar behind would show through.  There isn't a separate "bar" widget available in Muse - just horizontal and vertical.
    Hope this helps!

  • Horizontal menu widget - left alignment

Does anyone know an easy way how to align the text within a submenu of the Muse CC horizontal menu widget to the left instead of the standard center-alignment?

Select the submenu container and hit the Align left button in the Text panel (you may have to toggle between center and left to make this work).

  • How can I get a horizontal menu widget to display at 100% width?

I have created a horizontal menu with uniform spacing and have stretched it out to each side. I can't get the red indicator line to show up on the left side, but it does show on the right. No matter what I do, the menu continues to show up short on the right side of my screen in preview mode.
Does anyone know how to do this properly? Has anyone else had issues with it?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
We are aware of this limitation with the Menu and Panel Widgets and hope to address the same in future.

  • Spry horizontal menu widget individual item control

In my horizontal menu there are 4 main items. Can I change
one of the items background color to green?
I got no reply... Let me try to be more specific...
    http://www.appliedbrain.com/sprytest.html
On this page above, is it possible to make one of the main
item buttons a different color ( for example: the button that says
green)? Is this within the limitations of the spry widget?
    Thank you,

First of all, I realize that there is discussion forum specifically for Spry but when I checked it out, it looks like those questions get very few replies.
There's a very good reason for that. Adobe announced in August that it no longer plans to invest in the development of Spry (see http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l).
Before attempting to customize a Spry menu, you should also be aware that the version embedded in Dreamweaver displays problems with IE 8 and above.
Quite honestly, you would be better off looking for an alternative menu system.

  • Can you pin a horizontal menu widget to the sides of the browser so it resizes with browser width?

Any ideas how I recreate the auto re-sizing of the horizontal menu bar depending on the size of the browser using muse that I've seen on the following site that I presume wasn't developed on Muse? http://www.thechequersbath.com/
So far I've put a slideshow widget at 100% width, which creates the fixed slideshow in the background. I would love the menu to work in a similar way. Do I have to create a tablet version of it or what? Thanks for any feedback.

  • Menu widget (horizontal) space between buttons

How do I get spaces between navigation buttons on the horizontal menu widget?
In the basic Katie video, she does this as a "pre-set". Then in the advanced video it shows up in the images with no discussion. Thanks for helping.

    Hello,
You can either choose to use manual menus for this and place the menu as per your requirement, or you can use the "uniform spacing" option in the item size section of menu options for some spacing between the menu items.

  • Menu Widget is fuzzy.

I apologize up front if I use the wrong terms and I'll the do the best job I can to explain the problem. Some might view this as nit picking but if you're going to build web content I expect it to be pixel perfect.
When I attempt to use the horizontal menu widget and flow it out into my design I cannot get the text to look nice and crisp and clean when it's exported out of MUSE? The image below shows the 100% view on right and a zoomed view on left. The anti-aliasing is making the letterforms fuzzy. (as if they are not placed on whole pixel coordinates?) So the text overall isn't nice and clean and crisp it appears lossy which looks like sloppy craftsmanship and that doesn't make me want to use the widget.
When I place text (non-widget text) such as shown below into a MUSE layout it handles the anti-aliasing fine and the final text when exported looks nice and clean and crisp as intended. So this tells me something within the widget itself isn't set up precisely and thus causes unnecessary anti-aliasing of the text thus making it fuzzy in appearance.
I'm glad MUSE is finally making web design accessible for those who want to focus on design and not coding but I can't accept sloppy craftsmanship like this. Sure it's a detail type of thing but as they say the devil is in the details and this just looks bad and should be fixed. Actually the whole menu widget functionality should be refined and improved upon. It's kind of a pain to drill down into the widget and just select stuff to edit the appearance. It acts hinky at times and will show up when editing and than at times not appear?
But the final product visually should be precise, clean, crisp without the fuzzy factor.

    Zak,
Thanks. Yeah it's still fuzzy. Look at the top of the word "RESOURCES" it's all blurry all the way across. It's the widget that is messing up the text. In all browsers it's fuzzy. I can place non-widget text same size font and style and it won't fuzz out. So something in the widget is skewing the display and causing it to anti-alias too much IMO.
I know this isn't a huge thing but MUSE is catering to designers, most designers pay very close attention to details like this and if Adobe can't deliver at that level on a base function like navigation widget than that is kind of lame. I should be able to get the text so it is crystal clear, sharp, crisp, no fuzz at all (Where fuzz shouldn't be such on 90 degree angles. Curves you'll naturally get it, you need it but this has TOO MUCH fuzziness.
The closest analogy I can make is when in Flash you'd place text on non-whole pixels. So your symbol might be X: 45.7 Y: 60.1 and thus the text displayed would be very fuzzy. But if you had the coordinates on whole pixels X: 46 and Y: 60 the text wouldn't be fuzzy where it wasn't suppose to be. So I think the same type of non-preciseness is taking place inside the widget somehow thus causing undue fuzziness to occure in the text.
Bottom line, I should be able to create a menu that doesn't fuzz this much. Either Adobe is going to fix the widget or just let it remain and ignore details that designers pay attention too? The more designers use MUSE the more Adobe will hear about these issues I would think. Than again I've been dealing with the same bug in Ai since CS2 and Adobe has yet to fix that so I won't hold my breath.

  • Documentation for Menu widget... forget it!

Why do we have no manual or documentation foe Adobe Muse?
Just try and find documentation for the menu widget, first go on line because there is no help for Muse with the software. There is no menu widget listed. Guess "slideshows and widgets", expand more to see all the items - wow, I found it! Click on "Customizing the state of the Horizontal Menu widget". Perfect. Click on it. You go to "Building your first website with Muse" page. Great a tutorial, not documentation - oh well. Look for menu.
It doesn't actually appear there - sorry! Find it yourself. Look its says they already showed it in part 2. Great, I love spending time just looking for help. Click on part 2.
Read the whole page - a tutorial. No documentation for the submenus. Of course, it's a tutorial, not a manual.
Go back to the help page, type Muse menu widget in the search box. Great a video tutorial. Watch it, then it refers to the next video where we will style the video. It's not listed on the page anywhere. You must have to buy the series.
Screw the docs, try it yourself. Look - edit together is on, change the font, they all change but only in that sub menu. Change the menu item size, only that one changes. Oh so edit together only refers to each submenu and not all the changes. Wow, I should read the documentation - oh I forgot, THERE ISN'T ANY.
Am I the only one who wishes we could get a reference doc for this app or is that to much to ask of Adobe? What good is saving time building websites with Muse when you have to be a detective and spend lots of time finding out how to use it. This is SO LAME. We need a manual. Not just "lets build a website tutorials".

With the rapid growth of Muse a manual just wouldn't be practical. There are plenty of resources on the web; Adobe site, Lynda.com, lots of independant tutorials and probably the best resource (besides Lynda.com) is this forum right here. Google is everyone's friend ..... can find anything and faster than in any manual.
But with the way technology software changes at such a high rate manuals would be out of date before they are printed. I doubt we will see manuals for any Adobe software. It's just not Adobe going this way.

  • Using the menu widget, breaking a menu apart to position buttons individually.

I am having a completely blank moment. I'm sure I used to be able to do this in Muse, I just can't remember how.
I want a horizontal menu in my header with a company logo to sit in the middle. So ideally I want three menu buttons on the left, three on the right. Using the Horizontal menu widget, can you break them apart to position them individually? Or in sets of three?
Also if I create 'child' pages how do I create a drop down menu using the menu widget. I did it once, can't remember how.
My memory is not what it used to be.
    Thanks

    Hi RimVai!
I repeat, you must build up every button separately and link each button in Hyperlinks to the right Page as you did on video.
    Please follow the instructions:
    1.  At first make only "Home Page".
    2.  Go to "Master Page".
    3.  Copy "Home Page" and paste it on "Master Page" by using Paste in Place feature.
    4.  Drag "Copy Home Page" to the right and you can edit "Copy Home Page" as you want.
    5.  Add "Copy Home Page" on Plan Mode and change the name of the Page.
    6.  Link Pages in "Hyperlinks" to the right Pages.
    Best Regards

  • Horizontal menu moves when opening new pages

I have seven top level pages and have used the horizontal  menu widget in my master page. When I view the site in my browser the first four pages load with no problem but when I open the last three pages the menu moves  about 20pixles to the right. If I then open say page two from this page the menu then reverts back to the original place as it was in the home page.
Can anyone advise me as to why this is happening. I have also tried this with the last four pages left blank and the problem still exists so I would assume that the page content is not the cause.
    Thank you in anticipation
    John

One way that it could shift is if the first few pages are longer than the others and the side scroll displays or disappears.

  • Menu widget not responding ever 8 seconds for another 8 seconds

    Hi there,
I have purchased Muse template and have build website with Muse CC (2014) (www.janka-photograhy.ch)
It's one page template with scrolling effects on it.
On every page except from "Home" I have horizontal menu widget. Now, on next page (Über mich)
menu stops responding after 8 seconds for another 7-8 seconds and then functioning normaly again for
8 seconds and so on. This only happens on "Über mich" page. On every other page (Angebot, Galerie, Kontakt)
everything works fine. Any ideas why is this happening?
    Thanks a lot.
    Dalibor
P.S. Problem is arises in Firefox, but not in IE.

I can reproduce it on my Mac with Safari. Hovering across the menu, it becomes un/responsive every 7, 8 seconds.
What says the developer of your widget?
It doesn’t help, but it is a really nice site you designed!
    I would try the following:

  • Muse Menu Widget

Yesterday I updated Adobe Muse before I began a new project.  After I planned the site, stemming all main pages off of the home page I started working on the master.  The first thing I did was to drag the horizontal menu widget.  For some reason it is only showing one block for the home page.  None of the other pages are loading into the menu widget.
I'm a novice at Muse only having designed my portfolio website.  I'm sure the answer is an easy solution but I don't have time to continue searching for the answer.  Can someone help?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I understand.  The problem was that when you align the pages one below the other in the Plan view of Muse then the lower level pages become the child pages of their upper level pages.
So, Muse considers these pages as sub-pages and you will only be able to view them if you select "ALL Pages" in the Menu options and then these pages will appear below the main Home page tab.
So If you want to create the menu with all menu items side-by-side, Please make all your pages "Top Level Pages" that mean in the same level of the Home page.
I hope I was able to make you understand how the positioning of pages effects the Menu widget.
    Hope this helps

  • Horizontal menu bar shows serif type font in Live View and Preview but sans serif is in css file

Help I am using the Spry horizontal menu bar and while it is working fine, it is showing a serif font in Live View and in all Browsers even though I have selected a sans serif font. What gives? I have attached the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css

Add this to your embedded styles:
    body {
        background-color: #999;
    font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
using, of course, the font list you want.
All those styles that rely on the 'default' font will now default to the Trebuchet font list (or to your chosen list).
