Horizontal scrollbar of waveform chart in tab page resets to end when tab page switched

I've got a VI in LV 2012 with a chart in one of two pages of a tab control. Whether compiled to an executable or not, when the waveform chart contains data that is no longer being updated and the x-axis range doesn't show the last point of data, the horizontal scroll bar auto-adjusts to show that last point if you switch pages (back to the chart) on the tab control. I've tried turning off Autoscaling but that doesn't stop the effect.
Additional issues:
On some of these attempts at reproducing this, the X-Axis will even change scaling, zooming in on the data.
When data is pushed left by this bug to allow displaying the furthest data point, if the leftmost area of the chart was blank before the data was pushed left, the data pushed left into the formerly blank area will not be displayed. This happened only when the X-Axis was manually autoscaled prior to pushing the data off the right edge of the chart, and only if the x-axis scale was not changed. If the tab pages are again switched at this point away and back to the chart, the data re-appears.
The chart is a stacked plot if that makes a difference, Also, the tab control is not linked to any event handlers.
Also, the scrollbar works fine if you scroll such that the rightmost data points are on the chart along with blank area to the right, whether there is more data off the left edge of the chart or not.
Last, the Y-Axis of each stacked plot is unaffected by any of this.
I hope this isn't a duplicate - I didn't find it in the forums.

Thanks for the quick response on this. Again, the charts are awesome except for these minor fiddling details. Sorry about the terminology confusion - I didn't find anything in the Help system naming the legend buttons, and unfortunately I can't edit the prior post. When I said "AutoScale LocK" I meant "Scale Lock", and "AutoScale Once" I meant "Autoscale".
Here are the issues, hopefully clarified:
1. If any chart elements have Scale Lock set, pressing the AutoScale button for any plot causes these other plots to autoscale as well. Note these are not plots with multiple Y scales, they're stacked plots with separate y-scales for each plot. Changing the "Advanced->Auto Adjust Scales" parameter had no effect on this issue.
2. If none of the chart elements have Scale Lock set in the scale legend, pressing the Autoscale button for the X-Axis has no effect if the x-axis was previously set to show all the data history but then panned such that some data falls of either side of the chart.
This may have been confusing, so here's a breakdown of the steps to re-produce the problem using the VI I previously attached.
a. AutoScale all elements of the chart, and turn off Scale Lock on all elements
b. Move the data to the right in the chart, so the left half of the chart area has no data (e.g., set the X-Axis range to -5 to 6 seconds)
c. Press the X-Axis AutoScale button. The X-Axis range will not change from where it was in (b).
3. The Y-Axis will also auto-scale when returning to the Chart tab if Scale Lock is enabled for the plot with the fix for the x-axis scale in place (restoring the Xscale.Range parameters from a local variable). If the fix is not performed, this doesn't happen.
4. Pressing the Scale Lock button on one of the plots causes the X-Axis scale to be lost IF there is data past the maximum displayed X-Axis range. It looks like it set the X-Axis to the same problem range as before the fix was in place. I don't know how to build an event case for this, except for possibly "Mousedown?".
One more:
5. Enabling Scale Lock on any plot auto-scales any other plot that has Scale Lock enabled (assuming the user changed the Y-Axis range from the previously auto-scalled range). Obviously this is linked to #1 above, but worth noting.

Why does Waveform Chart Initalized by Property nodes behave erratically when hidden such as by the Tab Control?

I am using wave form Chart on a tab control. The problem is that the chart works fine when it is showing. I can stop the data and reset the chart history successfully. The Fun begins when I go to say Page 2 of Tab control ( The wave form Chart is on Page 1). If I now try to initilize my chart with offset, multiplier, min and max rage values - The chart assumes values on the X scale which are arbitrary. I can see this when I go back to Page 1.!!
But If Page 1 were showing and I did the same Operation The chart behaves as I expect it too.
Can this behaviour be explained? How do I resolve this Problem? Also I have Observed that from time to time the Sca
ling on X Axis may also change when the Chart is Hidden by the tab control. I have not been able to identify the reason for this, It is totally random.

I did a similar workaround ...
Everytime I Toggle the Run Button, I am making sure the active Tab is the one with Waveform Chart. This way the waveform Initializes fine. Then I try to Switch the active tab back to its One Previous Value, programatically - So that the user may have somewhat seamless interaction.
There is one hitch however - The waveform Chart needs some time to initialize and my data stream is also coming at every second. So if I switch Immediately to some other tab, Sometimes I am successful, Sometimes I am not. Again this depends om System Speed and such. If I update the Tab Control at the next iteration, it is very irritating visually. So I left the Tab control at the waveform chart after reset. If the User wants they can switch it Bac
k.
Of Course the best thing to do is don't Reset. Referred the problem to NI Apps. They said it will be fixed in the next version.
Well! Got to make enough money without resetting so that we can buy the new Version, which will reset!! Ciao! And Thanks for your answer.

"Tab Also Current for Pages" is automatically cleared when reusing page

I'd want to reuse a page, and include it in the "Tab Also Current for Pages" list of 2 standard tabs, that are displayed conditionally. But when I include it in the second tab, it is automatically cleared in the first. This only happens in the detail Tab edit screen, in the multi tab edit screen the pagenrs are not cleared. So I can achieve what I want, but for future maintanance this is very risky.
Is there any way to avoid this?

I didn't mean to say that there wasn't a case for a page being associated to more than one tab -- quite the opposite! More than once I wished that could be done...
But the fact is that currently in Apex we have:
- A tabular form that allows you associate the same page to multiple tabs (and worth mentioning, allows you to enter anything in the Also Current Pages column, not only a list of page numbers!)
- A form that doesn't allow you to do so, and validates if you entered a list of valid numbers in the Tab Also Current For Pages field.
Something needs fixing, and in my experience with Apex the forms I've seen seem to be much more strict in terms of validations than tabular forms for a number of reasons.
I am guessing that the form is the correct one and implements the intended rules. If that is true, the potential bug in the tabular form may be fixed in the future and the OP won't be able to maintain his applications that used this hack anymore.
Or maybe not, maybe the bug is in the form. But I would seek clarification on this before going down this route...

Tab control doesn't highlight when tabbing

I have to navigate through my application without a mouse, using the tab key, return key, etc. As I tab through the controls I've noticed that as a control receives focus it is outlined with a black box. This doesn't seem to be true, however, for the tab control. Is there someway I can get the tab control to be highlighted when it receives focus via the tab key?

There are ways you can do it by using attribute nodes. You can monitor the tab controls attribute node to see if it is in focus, then change color, size, or display the page, etc. Here is an example.

SP 2010 Publishing - Rollup and Page Images not visible when entering page edit mode

Hello, I have an odd issue recently appearing after installation of FEB 2013 CU install. When users select to Edit a Publishing Page the Rollup Image and also Page Image(Article Page Layout) are not visible. Only the "Click here to insert Image from
SharePoint" link is visible.
The issue has be confirmed in 5 servers across two farms
DEV, QA, and PROD on client recently updated
DEV and PROD in a completely separate client farm
I have confirmed the issue does not exist in two separate farms running April 2012 CU. In both of those environments the image appears with issue even in Edit page mode.
In the farms where the issue exists you can click the insert image link and simply hit OK to see the image again. An easy enough work around for tech savvy but my client's content admins are very confused/frustrated by.
Is this a bug? I have confirmed in two separate farms including brand new web applications using out of the box publishing site templates.

We have been facing the same issue in a 2013-environment (SP1), but in this case an upgraded 2010 Solution, which still runs in 2010-mode. Because of this, SharePoint still use resource-files in the 14-hive (as we have not performed an upgrade of Master
Pages etc.) The problem is also reproduced on a clean 2010 Site Collection in the same 2013-environment.
I have managed to find the cause of the problem (at least in our environment), and that is that as long as the selected picture/image has
not defined an "AltText"/"Alternate Text" the problem seems to occur.
In other words, try to define an Alternate Text and click OK in the "Edit Image Properties" Dialog.
I don't know if this may be the case for everyone else, but give it a try.
From this, I've further discovered (after hours of js-debugging) that there is a minor change (from 2010 to 2013) in a js-file called "SelectorControls.js" which is responsible for updating the various controls used in Page Layouts etc.
The problem exist in a method called ASO_UpdateButtonsAndPanels(), which checks whether the Image Control in question has content or not (Url). The local variable "hasContent" is then determined of an if statement, if(this.AssetData.ManageLinkDisplayText)
which in 2010 (14-hive) seems to be "true" regardless whether the Control is of type Image or Hyperlink. Further the code checks for AssetText (Alternate Text) which on an Image may be left empty.
In 2013 (15-hive) however, this if statement has been changed to, if(this.SelectorType==ConstLinkSelectorType), which clearly states "Image" or "Link" depending on the type of control.
I don't know if this is the cause of the problem in 2013, but in 2010 it seems to be exactly that.
Pending a solution from Microsoft, we have modified SelectorControls.js to overcome this issue until the customer decides to do a Visual Upgrade to 2013.
This is by all means not a supported nor a a permanent solution to the problem, as future Hotfixes, Service Pack etc. may "reset" our fix.

How do I stop all tab group windows cascade open when new page is started

Upgrade to latest Firefox version two days ago, and now whenever I start a NEW PAGE, all tabbed pages cascade onscreen, ie "open link in new window" brings up all tab groups on toolbar.
This has never been a problem - I "save" windows in Tab Groups on my toolbar, and bring up a Group for reference during the day.
Something in the new download has altered my settings, and I cannot find how to keep the tabbed window groups from cascading onscreen, and having to constantly minimise them.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

First tab not getting "TabPanelTabSelected" class when tabs created from dataset

Greetings all. I've got a tabbedpanel widget whose tabs are
created with a spry repeat region. works great, except none of the
tabs get the "TabPanelTabSelected" class on initial load. I tried
setting the defaultPanel in the constructor, but to no avail.

Thanks a lot Kin. I now have it working, mostly. I changed
the contentgroup div so that it repeated over the RequestCounts to
create the table. However, when I did that, obviously it drew the
table each time through the loop. So I changed the table's spry:if
to also look at the current status names for equality. only then
does it actually draw the table for the status that's been clicked.
the final version appears below.
Now, I do have two problems though.
1) I can no longer use the spry:loading state. If I have
this: <div spry:state="loading">loading...</div> right
under the "TabbedPanelscontentGroup" div, I get an error that
tpIndex is not defined. So...do you know how i can get this
functionality back?
2) One thing I needed to implement was "persistent" tab on
data refresh. I added a loadInterval on the RequestCounts dataset,
and thus everytime that interval was up the tab went back to the
first one. So in the updateRequests() function, i set a variable
named 'selectedTab' to the clicked rowid. Then, in the
tabObserver.onPostUPdate function, i have the dsRequestCounts
current row being set to that variable.
The only problem with this is that the "requests" dataset
then gets loaded twice when the interval causes the data to reload:
once for the first row, and then once for my 'persisted' row. This
makes sense, but i just don't know how to fix it. i'm pasting the
code into this post...maybe someone can see some way to get around
this?
Basically, the behavior I want is this:
a) on initial page load, load the requestCounts dataset and
use the first row of that dataset to load the requests dataset
(this works)
b) when a user clicks a tab, load the requests dataset with
the rowid of the clicked tab (this works)
c) when the loadInterval causes the RequestCounts dataset to
be refreshed, use the 'selectedTab' variable as the CurrentRow of
the RequestCounts data such that the Requests dataset is loaded
with the correct row and the selected tab is correct
So the only rpoblem i have is with c, and the only problem
there is that essentially what happens is the requests dataset is
loaded twice.
Thanks to any and all for advice getting the "loading" state
working and the refresh behavior correct!

Creating PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and can only see the first 10 pages in PDF even when the page numbers on bottom state 10 of 13 (or any number greater than 10).

PDFs create great, unless they should be over 10 pages and then it appears the data was converted to PDF by viewing the page numbers at the bottom of the PDF but you can only view the first 10 pages in the pdf file.

Could you please let me know what exact dot version of Acrobat 9 and OS you are using.
Have you tried repairing Acrobat from the Help menu?
Acrobat 9 is an older version and incompatible with new OS versions, so I would suggest you to try using Acrobat XI (latest version) and check for the same.

Horizontal scrollbar on tab page

Hi,
I'd like to use Designer for a multi-record block on a tab page with a horizontal scrollbar . How should I do this ? It is alright for a vertical scrollbar but what about an horizontal one ? Since I have too many columns to display on one tabbed page.

If you have many items that they cannot fit into a tab page, I think you have to put them into a Stacked Canvas. This can be done by changing Overflow Style to "Spread table" option in The Module Component containing these items.
Also, you can set WINHSB Module Generator Preference to 'Y' value to add horizontal scrollbar to module Window.

I have one Content canvas on this i hv 4 tab canvas with different datablocks. Need to show horizontal scrollbar as the number of fields are the more than tab canvas size.

1) create a stack canvas and assign window to it
2) create your items on stack canvas
3) set the stack canvas view port width and height according to your visible area of TAB canvas (the size of canvas must be more than View port)
4) set its X and Y position according to the TABs
5) set show scroll bar to YES horizontally
6) set WHEN-TAB-PAGE-CHANGED trigger to show and hide canvases based on current tab selection.

The waveform chart in the tab control

I'd like to change the plot number and the plot name of a waveform chart in a tab control.
First of all, it works fine without a tab control, but I have many charts(such as temperature, pressure, voltage...) so that I put each chart into the pages of a tab control.
Error 1077 happened when I "add" the plot number and change the plot name.
The following is a sample I made to describe this problem.
Let's begin if the number is 20, so there are 20 plots in that chart in page 2.

Do not turn on the switch, change C to 3, minus N to 18, and run it and it can be seen that the tab control will switch to page1.
Switch to page 2, and the plot names are updated but left some relic.
Add N to 22, change C to 2, and run it again.
Error 1077 happened! Switch to page 2, and the plot number is still 20, and the plot names are updated to 20.
Run it again, and it works fine!
It is very tricky for me.
If I switch to the page 2 first and run the program, it works fine too.
(That is, if the switch is turn on, then the program works fine.)
The LabVIEW version of mine is 2011.
I'm not sure I missed or misunderstanded something about this problem.
Does someone can give me some suggestion? Thanks a lot

I'm sorry my poor expression confused you.
All I want is to demonstrate that the chart in the 'hidden' page of the tab control results in the error when the user tried to add plot number and change the plot name.
To make a scenario more specific, there is two pages in a tab control, one is for setting, the other is for the plotting.
When the user change the channel configuration, the chart is going to change correspondingly.
If I'd like to change the plot number and plot names, there is possiby a problem when staying in the setting page.

You're right I should make the parameters more clear to facilitate reader understand my purpose easily.
Switch True means switch to the chart page before the modification of the chart, and return to the first page after the modification. Switch False means stay in the first page while the chart is modified.
C is used to make the plot name different among each execution. If the plot names of the chart in the previous execution are [101, 102, 103, 104, 105], and I'd like to decrease the plot names to three items [101, 102, 103], but in the case of the false switch, it will be [101, 102, 103, 104, 105], it is hard to tell if it is really updated. I can change C to 2, and the plot names in this execution will be [201, 202, 203, 104, 105], it could be shown it is updated indeed but left some unexpected plot names[104, 105](I call it relic...).
N is just the plot number the user can increase or decrease it.
I'm afraid of being the guy you mentioned...
Like my original post, I probably have several charts to show their results(temperature, pressure, voltage...) so that I make a tab control of 6 pages, and put a chart in each page. The user can also determine the channel numbers of each kind of measurement before the acquisition. Rich:toolBar in a JSF page:how to avoid horizontal scrollbars?

Hi,
I have a rich:toolBar. I create this toolbar from a backing bean class. I have around 19 dropdown menus in the toolbar. So when the toolbar renders, the length (i mean, width) of the toolbar exceeds the page width. This causes the browser to add a horizontal scrollbar. I do not want this scrollbar. My requirement is like this:
when the width of the toolbar is more than the screen width, the rest of the menus must be added to another DropdownMenu.This menu will be the last menu and it will contain all the menus which cant be viewed when the toolbar is rendered.
When we use overflow : hidden, it removes the scrollbar in firefox not in IE. If you are not clear about the requirement, you can see the firefox browser itself as one with the similar feature. when we open more tabs than it is able to render, the tabs which are not shown are added to a 'button' to the right of the browser window.
Please help me with your ideas.

the overflow : hidden worked well(actually not well, i was not able to see the menu items)on my firefox browser. but it didnt work on my IE. and my firefox version is 3.

Page Viewer Web Part with horizontal scrollbar

Hi,
I added a page viewer webpart to a sharepoint 2013 website and placed a reporting services report url on it, however in some users the browser shows a horizontal scroll bar and cuts the report area. This is not version related because
I can see it well in IE10 in one user and in others it shows the reported problem.
Seems to be browser settings. Any ideas?

According to your post, my understanding is that some users’ browser shown a horizontal scroll bar in the page view web part.
You can disable the horizontal using the CSS style as the following.
<style type="text/css">
#WebPartWPQ3 {
OVERFLOW-X: hidden !important
</style>
Note: the WebPartWPQ3 is the webpart ID.

Instead of using page viewer web part, you can also use the content edit web part with IFrame, and some JavaScript to achieve it.
