    Hi,
My computer screen has horizontal white line appeared across the screen recently. Computer is running perfectly normal but i don't know how to resolve this problem?
    What could be the reason?

Im afraid it is due to defective display.
You can connect your notebook to external display to see if the same happen. if not it is the best evidence for my theory.

  • Rear Camera has horizontal white line across screen

Hi, I was given a playbook for Christmas and I love it but it has developed a horizontal white line on the rear camera which makes the camera and video unusable. I have customized my Playbook so am reluctant to take it back to the shop. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just accept that I'm not going to be able to use the rear camera or video? Hope you can help as in every other way my Playbook is perfect. Thanks.
    Solved!

If a Playbook is to be sent for repair, especially with an RMA, it is important to back up data files by WiFi sharing as a desktop software backup  may not work if the unit is replaced with a refurb or new unit.

  • Vision M 30GB started showing horizontal white lines over LCD

Everything was perfect since couple days ago. I have taken out my creative Zen Vision M 30G from its case then turned on and seen that all over the screen covered with horizontal white lines. Nothing has happened to the player. Not dropped or put it under heavy things or etc.
I resetted used recovery tool and re-install firmware but nothing had helped.
I am in Turkey right now but I have bought it from USA.
I contaced with Creative support and they do not want to do anything such as repair or replacement because I have had my player little over 3 years as of now (EOSL). But my player has used really gently it even has its original screen protector on it.
I did not cause this it was just happened out of nowhere...Lots of other comments and topics show that it is a some kind of harware mulfunction that the creative should stand behind.....
    Any help or idea....

  • I am getting horizontal white lines one inch apart when I print an Ai file

I am getting horizontal white lines one inch apart when I print an Ai file

*White lines 1" apart showing up on my printouts*~
It is a NEW Epson 1430. However, I have horizontal thin white lines across my prints. (13x19in Paper) I've cleaned the heads, ran a test print, realigned and then reprinted - I keep getting the same white lines in exactly the same places.
I’m printing an AI file in Illustrator and the lines don't show up on my screen. Is there something wrong with the data? I am going to do more experiments to try and identify exactly what conditions cause this problem.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Strange horizontal white line

I just started up my G4 ( tower ) double mirror face and have come across the strangest thing. I have this 1 in long horizontal white line that follows just down and to the right of my cursor. It doesnt matter where I place the cursor the line follows.Running 10.3 and have never had this show up.

    I agree with BDAqua!
If you run that test you might notice your VRAM Test Fail.
This usually means that your video card is dead and needs to be replaced.
If this is not the case, then I would make sure you are using correct/updated graphics drivers, as these artifacts near your cursor are usually directly related to your graphics card and/or drivers.
When something similar happened to my powermac G4 MDD about 4 years ago, I was able to find an ATI Radeon 9600 at Fry's Electronics that works on both PC/Mac. It only has 256MB VRAM, but I was able to throw a card in quickly and keep going!
Unfortunately, there seems to be little selection for a mac that old. You may have to search elsewhere for a compatible card now.
Please post your test results so that someone may help you further.

  • Horizontal White Line Right Across Screen iPod Classic 120GB

I bought an Apple iPod Classic 120GB 14 months ago. I have looked after it very carefully (it hasn't even left the house) and only used it sparingly. Last week an annoying horizontal white line appeared right across the screen. I have tried all the recommended including resetting it.
Having trawled the internet forums and asked at my local Apple franchise dealer this seems to be a common fault with the screen hardware. I gather I can expect more line to appear over the next few weeks. I followed Apple's online repair procedure and once I ticked the box for 'screen problem' there is another drop down box with about 4 options. One of these refers to horizontal or vertical lines across the screen so Apple must be aware of this fault. At the next stage I was advised that I must pay approx £95 before the iPod could be repaired or replaced.
I subsequently phoned their Customer Services Department in India to ask why I was being charged so much for what was clearly a manufacturing fault and was told that they had no authority to offer discounts for repairs. Having asked to speak to someone who could help I was put through to Apple in Ireland.
The person I spoke to again repeated that Apple would only repair the iPod if I paid £95. He claimed it was a very rare problem but they were aware of it. I suggested that if this was true, surely they would want to replace or repair the iPod free of charge or at least for a reasonable price. The answer to this was no. I asked how long they expected iPods to last as 14 months did not seem very long. He said that he couldn't answer my question. I would have thought that it was reasonable to expect a life cycle of nearer 5 years for an high quality mp3 player. I feel that if an iPod fails after only 14 months it is hardly fit for purpose.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

this is the exact same problem as mine (mine is classic 80GB) :[
it started happening out of nowhere, for no reason too. it happened 10 days ago, and ive had it for 2 years 3 months
in addition to the line across my screen, there are some scattered dots above it that move around everytime i turn off my ipod and turn it back on, which is really odd and at first funny but now just very sad.
please please tell me if you find a solution (minus the huge fix cost), and/or email me at [email protected]

  • PDF displays as grey with a horizontal white line

I have a 4MB PDF of a family tree generated by MacFamilyTree.  It is about 350 pages if printed. I can view it using Apple's Preview program and Firefox (24.0).  However, if I try to view it using Acrobat Reader (11.0.04) all I get is a grey screen with a white horizontal line.  I can use "Save as..." from Acrobat Reader and save a new PDF.  The new PDF can be viewed just fine in Preview and Firefox, but NOT in Acrobat Reader.
Relatives on Windows XP and 7 have the same problem of not being able to view the PDF, seeing just a white page.  Some can view it inside their web browsers; some cannot.  Some can view it using Acrobat Reader (no idea which versions); some cannot, seeing the grey page with a white line.
I sent the PDF file to MacFamilyTree for help, but they said that the problem is with Acrobat Reader and no the PDF itself.  Screen shots of the same file opened in Acrobat Reader (top) and Preview (zoomed in - bottom) are below.  Any suggestions on how to get a PDF to display in Acrobat Reader?

In the Print Dialogue, choose "Save as AdobePDF" instead of "Save as PDF". Save as PDF saves as a Preview PDF which is why it works in Preview and in Firefox's PDFJS viewer (which ISN'T Adobe based)

  • Ipod touch 4G with horizontal white line

Hello, I have a brand new ipod touch 4G.  Two days after getting it I was in the middle of looking at some apps and a white line across the screen appeared (horizontal line).  I turned off the ipod several time with no change.  After looking up what is may be I found it was most likely a bad pixel and there was nothing I could do.  I called apple and set up a repair which was about as easy as it could be.  The next morning when I got the pod out to take it to UPS, the line was gone.  What the heck is going on?

Bad bits sometimes happens.  If it recurrs try in order:
    - Reset
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If it still recurrs, then yu likely have a hardwre problem and return it to Apple for replacement.

  • Weird horizontal white lines going across the screen

I've had my nano 4g for around six months. When I first bought it, there was a single white line going across the top of the screen. It never really got in the way, so I didn't bother exchanging the ipod. Recently, another white line of pixels appeared lower on the screen. This line is there even while I reset it.
Besides replacing the screen or exchanging the iPod, is there anything that I can do to fix this?

It may (likely) be a video card issue. There is a "known issue" with certain iMacs made in a certain timeframe (2011-12 I think), and one of the telltale symptoms is vertical lines showing up on your display. Go to Apple's website (https://getsupport.apple.com/) to find out how to get support, then either call their service line (they usually pick right up) or take it into your nearest store's Genius Bar. They'll first check if your iMac's serial number is on the list of vulnerable machines, and then they'll have to do a diagnostic to prove that's the problem -- if your serial number's on the list and it fails the diagnostic, they'll replace the video card for free, even if you're not covered by AppleCare (and if you are, it's free regardless).
My iMac just had this problem, there were lines sometimes and just weird display issues other times. Eventually it just grayed out altogether and I couldn't use it. So it's likely your display problems will worsen if you don't get it looked at.
It took them about a week to ship the new video card over, install it, and return the iMac to me.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite P105-S6064: Colored vertical and horizontal white lines appearing on laptop screen.

    Hello,
A few months ago, vertical lines started appearing on my laptop screen, the first was purple/green and they later increased in rapidly in number by the day and night and are about 70 currently. But today, white line apeared at once on the left side of the screen, covering upto three icons completely and they fade downwards (brighter/colourful at the top) and unlike the coloured, they appeared at once; and they also blink when the touchpad is touched as the display turns off (the power saver schedule/setting). I've been told about two weeks ago that the laptop was hit by something or fell and that I needed to start gathering some notes (money) to replace the screen. I'm not an expert and I don't know what to do please reply intelligently (helpfully).

You'd need to have it professionally serviced.

Getting white horizontal lines through black or gray text and graphics.
The Print Quality Diagnostics Page results are:
    Test pattern 1 looks fine
Test pattern 2 has white horizontal lines on the black and gray blocks. The color blocks look fine.
Test pattern 3 has white horizontal lines spaced 0.87 inches apart. They do not line up with the arrows.
I have run the Align Printer, Clean Printhead (three times) and Calibrate Linefeed functions and the problem still remains the same.
This particular case doesn't seem to be covered in the "Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro L7500, L7600, and L7700 All-in-One Printer Series" page at

  • Thousands of horizontal white lines

An iPhone 3Gs, just over 3 years old, has thousands of tiny white horizontal lines across the screen. No unusual activity caused it (like dropping the phone or getting wet). Simply started one morning.

Is this a hardware problem... or simply a loose connection?

How familiar are you with various hardware problems? My 3G or 3GS, I don't know which, has a sketchy touch screen. When it started, the spot it thinks my finger is (shown by selections) would randomly start wiggling. The wiggling is not the app delete/move feature--I am versed in its appearance and use.
Now, selections will randomly start toggling, or I will lose X or Y touch resolution (i.e. it will only select the left-most, or bottom-most item). Also, a text box will try to fill itself out with random characters. I had a case and anti-glare mat, but that was the first thing I ruled out; at first it seemed to help, but then the problem came back.
Good thing I require my password for purchase and never enabled app-purchase or one-touch buying, or I would've bought a fortune by now.

  • 6 white horizontal white lines on the screen

After the first sync of my new iPod classic 160G I now have 6 white horizontal lines on the screen.
Restarting the iPod, restoring the firmware, same lines consistent on all screens.
    Any similar issue ?

solved, hardware problem. The Apple Store replaced my iPod.

  • Display issue - horizontal white lines and vertical multicoloured lines.... UNRELATED: constant "update available" icon?

Hi, my Curve 9300 on the OS 6.0 system has vertical and horizontal lines accross the display, with more appearing every day...   started and the top and left areas of the screen and seem to be slowly migrating & multiplying.
I tried first turning the phone off and back on again.  Then the battery pull reset.  Now I've tried downloading the OS update direct from the blackberry site and reloading it....   all to no avail.
Everything is functional, but lines accross the screen are constant.  Since my phone is past warranty anyway, I would like to open it and check the screen connection, but I do not have a torx driver that small to fit the little screw in the back....  Is there anything else I can try, or an easy enough way to remove that screw without having to buy a stupid screwdriver that I will likely never use again...?
One other thing I've been meaning to find out about...   Despite attempting to update multiple times through the Blackberry Desktop Software, and even now after downloading the update direct from the Blackberry site, my phone continues to display the "update available" icon (with the star in a red circle on a BB outline), and indicates an update required for BB OS 6, yet the desktop software says "no updates available" and I couldn't find anything more recent on the Blackberry site unless there is a way to put OS 7 on the older blackberries.  Why might this be happening and have I missed something?
    Thank you!

In terms of heat I'm not sure.
It isn't only one spot that you can push to get it to come back. I have to manipulate the screen carefully in a number of different combinations. Also if the screen brightness is down the and screen fully open with an external monitor on the screen can sometimes clear up even after 4 hours plus of use. If I then move the screen up it will take a few minutes to go bad again. Even if the brightness is left down.
I actually have a spare screen from an old 400mhz model which is identical brand. Its just not in as good condition and has to bright spots in the corners and one dull area middle bottom. Its just not in as good nic as the current one when its working. Is there a way to 'tighten' the LCD in case its a pressure problem or is still a heat issue?
    Many Thanks, Tre.
