Horrible audio capturing 2nd stereo channel 12  bit 32,000 kHz

Hello,
I have DV tapes with 2 stereo channels 12 bit 32,000 kHz. I added a Capture Preset Editor with 16 bit 32,000 kHz 2nd 2 channels.
I captured only the sound of the second 2 channels.
The sound is horrible. At some places there is no sound, at other places noise.
How can I capture this audio with the same quality as when I play the DV tapes on my TV ?
Thanks,
Hubert

Use a preset that is 12bit.
Or make one, if one doesn't exist.

  • Audio captured as stereo not mono

    FINAL CUT EXPRESS HD VERSION 3
    I have read topics where users were complaining of the opposite. Tom Wolfe reckons audio should be captured as dual mono. However mine was captured stereo (most inconvenient as i record two seperate mics).
    Another post on a slightly different topic suggested deleting the preferences files. This cured the fault.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I'm sure that gets round the problem but I sometimes like to first adjust sound for the whole clip in the Viewer. Then every instance of this clip pasted in the canvas has roughly the right level and pan.
    I have done some more research. This machine has both Final Cut Pro 5 and Final Cut Express 3.0 on it.
    It seems if I capture in Pro (I do this because it can batch log and capture) with 2 mono tracks, then import those DV mov files into Express, they appear as having only one mixed mono track. From this point on any capturing in Express gives a stereo pair for the audio rather than 2 mono tracks. I assume this is a bug.
    This is a work machine and I am trying to discover the main differences with Express and Pro so that we can give laptop users the Express (cheaper!) version. Maybe having the two apps on the one machine is causing these problems. I would have expected files created in FCP to import OK into Express, they are QuickTime files after all.
    I have Express version 3.5 at work so will maybe try that next.

  • Audio Capture problem in Mac OS X 10.7.5 in Mac mini(in Silverlight)

    I got a mac mini and upgrade Mac OS X 10.6.x --> 10.7.5.
    However do not hearing the audio in Webpage using Silverlight.(10.6. version doing well)
    So, I found the solve this problem, that is a audio capture problem.( My device does not supported Stereo audio data).
    this is the source in audio capture using Silverlight code.
      CaptureSource source = new CaptureSource()
                            AudioCaptureDevice = CaptureDeviceConfiguration.GetDefaultAudioCaptureDevice()
                        try
                            foreach (AudioFormat af in source.AudioCaptureDevice.SupportedFormats)
                                if (af.Channels == 1 && af.BitsPerSample == 16 && af.SamplesPerSecond == 8000)
                                    source.AudioCaptureDevice.DesiredFormat = af;
                                    break;
    af.Channels is always af.Channel == 2(Stereo)
    --- the question is
    How can I caputure audio channel mono?
    If couldn`t, how can I transfered audio capture data stereo to mono?
    Please answer the question as soon as possible ^^

    Mavericks is a 5.3 GB file, it takes awhile to download based on the speed of your internet account.

  • Weird Audio Capture

    Lately I've had trouble with DV audio capturing from our camcorder. Instead of 48 kHz, the audio will be something like 48,010.4 Hz. This happens most often on long captures (half hour or more). This is a major pain, because the fix is to render the clip on a 48 kHz timeline, then export it.
    Any ideas what the problem could be and how to fix it?
    Thanks, gurus.

    There have been a number of instances reported here (on the forum) of Sony and Canon cameras with audio drifting.
    The only real solutions are:
    1. Capture in short (5-10 min) segments to minimize the drift effect (Jim's suggestion)
    2. Re-conform the audio after capture (what you are doing)
    3. Try a different camera that works in DVCAM format. DVCAM locks the audio and video together - so no drift.
    Good luck.

  • How to capture 2 stereo tracks (4 channels) in Premiere CS6? Thanks!

    Problem capturing 2 stereo tracks (4 channels) into Premiere CS6 (on a Mac) from a Canon xls1? Thanks, IndigoJim!

    I'm sure I used to get all 4 tracks from my XL1s, If I rememder correctly there was one Avi with a stereo track and a separate wav with the other pair. When in 4 track mode the audio is only 12 bit. The computer I used back then had a Matrox RT100 board, It might have been a Matrox utility that I used for the capture.

  • 4 channel audio capture

    Does final cut express cpautre 4 channel audio as i have to a use radio mic and the onboard mic, how does it appear on the timline .

    camera..xl1s

    No, you cannot capture four channels. That was the question you asked. You can capture two channels. If you have one mic going into each of the two channels that make up the first pair you can capture them. Many cameras allow you to use 32k audio and record four channels, two stereo pairs. FCE will not capture the second stereo pair.

  • Capturing Two Mono Channels and Not Stereo Channels

    For the first time, I'm shooting footage with audio on two individual mono channels (on two separate XLR inputs). All are camera settings are correct, however, when I capture in Final Cut Express, it captures the audio as linked stereo (LR) channels, not two mono channels.
    Anyone know what could be wrong?
    Big thanks!

    There's nothing wrong. When you connect a mic to each of the 2 inputs on your camcorder, your camera records the audio as 1 stereo pair, and FCE captures it that way from your camcorder.
    In FCE, you can either pan each channel totally to its Left or Right side; or you can separate the stereo pair into 2 independent audio tracks. You may still want to pan each channel to get the sound you want.

  • Capturing only left channel of audio

    Probably not a great combination using Premiere Pro cs3 for about the 3rd or 4th time (after years of 6.5) and using the church's sony camera that I am unfamiliar with - but here goes:
    When I play the video back on the camera, the sound is in stereo, however when I capture it, it only plays back and captures the left channel. I didn't have this issue with my own camera, so it may be a camera issue. I can't figure out/find the model of the camera, but it is a Sony HDV running in DV mode. The sound was recorded in 48K stereo. Any thoughts/help is appreciated.
    Bob

    OK.
    Start a new Premiere project and use that to test capture again.

  • How can I capture Skype audio on a separate channel

    I do interviews via skype. I currently use an external mic and USB mixing board and record with Audition CS6. But I want to record the caller's audio on a separate channel. How can I do that? Seems like there should be a way.

    Back in the mists of time I did a document about this. It refers to earlier versions of Audition, but that doesn't matter because this is controlled externally from it anyway. It's not the most brilliant document in the world (the diagram is hand-drawn), but you should be able to figure out the basics:

  • Audio capture scratch for iTunes import/48kHz convert

    Working in first FCE HD project. I want to import an additional music track from iTunes. Following the manual's instructions for converting iTunes files to 48 kHz for import, it says to "navigate to the project's audio media folder". In the external hard drive's doc folder it shows all the necessary folders there except Audio Capture Scratch ( which was default checked and unselectable in Settings prior to the initial video/audio capture of existing commercials, etc. from a deck).
    Apparently setting up this Audio Capture Scratch as a destination that shows in the FCE docs window must be done after the initial set-up. (?) If so, I can't find how to do it. According to what I've been reading, though, the Audio Capture Scratch should already be among the 7 folders (Capture scratch, Render files, Audio render files, etc.) but it's the only one missing. Is this even related? Can audio be imported directly to the project as opposed to the ext. drive?
    Question is... Should that in fact be the destination folder? Or do I need to create an "audio media folder" for this project? If so, how? I've not found anything in FCE Help or the Brenneis manual.
    Thanks for any help on what must be a basic conceptual hole in my limited mental model.

    You can import audio files into FCE from any location
    on any HD. The audio file itself could be in your
    iTunes music folder but if so, I suggest making a
    duplicate copy of the song file in some other folder
    (your choice, your location, your folder name) to
    minimize the risk of accidently messing up something
    in your iTunes music folder.
    You could even drag a copy of the file from the
    Finder into the FCE Browser. Once it's in the FCE
    Browser, you can drag the music file onto one of your
    audio tracks.
    The ideal format is AIFF, 16-bit, stereo, 48Khz.
    Truly thanks for that. But... In order to convert the iTunes file to the above, I have to go to the iTunes Pref. window and the folder location field, click the Change button and navigate to the "project's audio media folder"... But I don't have, can't find or don't know how to make that folder. So I can't specify the destination. I'd love to drag/drop, but the format won't be AIFF, 16 bit 48kHz.
    When I read the manuals instruction for importing directly from a CD, it also says to drag the files into my "project's audio media folder", so I'm back to the same problem. I guess I could try dragging from the CD directly to my browser, and I will, but even if that works for now, I need to understand what/where/how to create the audio media folder, as I fear I'm missing a basic understanding here.
    And why is there no Audio Capture Scratch folder showing in the FCE doc folder? Even if this unrelated and irrelevant, I'm still puzzled about that. I'd appreciate any clues here. Thanks again.

  • Configuring Audio Capture

    I am trying to sample the microphone using a recordStream. How do I control the rate, bits, unsigned, etc...
    If I use:
    p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio");
    Under Ktools everything slows to a trickle and takes about 5 seconds to record 20 miiliseconds worth of data, then i get aboput 80,000 bytes of data that appears to be 16 bits
    in the Manager class description
    http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/teaching/03/modules/CO/6/25/doc/LOC/MMA/javax/microedition/media/Manager.html
    it says I can do things like:
    Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio?bits=8");
    When I do this I get a MediaException:
    Cannot create a DataSource for: capture://audio?bits=8
    How can I control the sample rate, # of bits etc...?
    Thank You

    You can try to use "capture://audio?encoding=pcm&rate=8000&bits=8&channels=1" if it can't work, means that your system doesn't support 8bit audio. You should down the program into real phone and try again. If you want to minimize the audio size, you should use "encoding=gsm", but some phone does't support gsm audio capture!

  • Multitrack Audio Capture question ...Not DV related :)

    I am wanting to use FCP 5 to capture multitrack audio from a firewire interface such as the MOTU 828mkII while capturing video from my Kona LS at the same time.
    the FCP 5 page says, "Multichannel audio lets you capture and output up to 24 channels of high-resolution 24-bit, 96kHz audio in a single pass."
    I'm not sure if that means that you can capture up to 24 channels while you are capturing video or if the multitrack audio capture requires timecode syncing and capturing audio and video separately. The reason I'm trying to do this is that I want to capture the video and multi track audio live rather than recording to a deck with timecode and syncing it up later. I know this isn't the typical way to do it and that FCP capture is a less reliable way to record than a VTR. I'm aware of my Kona card's multiple audio channels, but I am specifically interested in a multi track audio interface (such as MOTU 828mkII).
    I've searched the forums and internet for weeks and I can't find anyone who has suggested that this work. Will a 828mkII just show up as another audio capture device in FCP that will record more than 2 channels during video/audio capture?
    Thanks!

    Hi gevus, I know this is somewhat late and if you haven't already found another solution then I would suggest that you purchase a pci sound card e.g. Soundblaster Live can be had for as little as $35.00 from Newegg.com (a very reliable online store with free shipping most of the time).  I capture video with my 9600 aiw pro and use a sb live...my mb also came with an onboard sound processor (nforce2) however, I still prefere the flexability of the Live card...plus dispite reviews on this nforce2 onboard sound as being as good as Live I disagree I listen to (and watch) alot of movies on my computer and have a pair of BOSE headphones. I cound definetely notice a difference in sound quality.  I dont know your video needs but the Audigy card by Creative Labs is even better if you need or want real good quality reproduction however, remember that the audio sorce is the real key to good sound.

  • Audio Capture Scratch Files Disappeared....

    But not all of the audio files are missing. Can't quite figure it out as some of the originals within the same audio capture scratch folder still exist.
    Any thoughts.
    FYI: Things were cool until I tried to digitize some new video when a message popped up asking if I'd like to add, continue or abort from reconnecting some 26 missing files. I think I hit continue which may have erased some things. They can't be lost forever, right?
    In the meantime--I've restored the project today to settings saved from when all was good yesterday. Also, have adjusted and readjusted capture scratch settings in batch capture mode. However, this provided no new results.
