HORRIBLE green streaks all across my 23" Cinema display

I have a 23" ACD and it suddenly started showing INSANE green streaks everywhere! I don't know what's wrong with it! It wasn't dropped (that I know of) and doesn't show signs of a cracked screen, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
Is it the LCD panel? Inverter? Backlights? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA?!? I've attached pictures below. I'm out of warranty and need to find out what to do.
If I have the LCD display panel replaced with an OEM part, would it correct this problem? Or is it something else internally? If anyone's had this problem, PLEASE HELP and advise!

Are you sure that it is the monitor and not the video card in your computer?
Have you tested with another monitor?

  • Flickering Green pixels all over 21" Apple Cinema Display is getting worse

Has anyone ever had this problem before? I have a 5 year old, not overly used 21" Apple LCD Cinema Display. Just recently, it started having these tiny flickering green dots but only on black fields. Now it is getting worse. I am now having the same problem only this time, additionally, its red on white fields. It goes on and off intermitently. Sometimes, my monitor would just turn GREEN especially after viewing some photos. (I think this monitor was made in Mars or something)
What is causing this problem? Do I need to get a new monitor or can I still have it fixed? Please help.

There seems to be a couple of threads on this issue, including:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1954716&tstart=0
In my case, the severity of the flicker varies with what is trying to be displayed. In screensaver mode, for example, there is no flicker unless I choose to display photographs. Problem is also quite severe when I'm in Aperture; less so in Safari.
I've had the same problem with two separate graphics cards so it must be the cable or the display.

  • Dancing green pixels and flashes on 23" Cinema Display

I run two 23" Cinema Displays side-by-side on my Mac Pro. They are about a year and a half old.
One of them intermittently exhibits dancing, pulsating, and flashing green pixels. This behavior lasts a few seconds to 20 minutes or more, and then stops abruptly. Several hours, days, or weeks may pass before it happens again. Of course, it is virtually impossible for me to recreate this problem for a Service Provider. I have tried to record the dancing pixels using various screen capture programs but they fail to show the problem.
The "troubled monitor" exhibits this behavior when plugged into either video port. My other monitor has never had this problem.
Any suggestions? Taking it to an Apple Store is my last resort since the nearest one is over 900 miles away. My local Service Provider has been no help at all.
    Thanks.

Make sure the monitor cables are firmly inserted, I had the same problem with my acrylic 23 inch. ADC connector was a bit dirty, after re - inserting all went fine. Also re-seat the graphics card firmly.

  • Dead 23" Cinema Display? (not getting power)

So I've been in tech **** this week... MobileMe not working, MacBook hard drive dying, Time Capsule giving me ****, etc etc etc. But now let's add another to all that:
My 23" Cinema Display seems to be dead.
At first I thought it was just the PSU, which I could deal with. *****, but not the end of the world. However I just tested the PSU on a different 23" CD, and it worked. What else could possibly be wrong? The display is getting no power at all.

Any update with this? I am having same issue with my Cinema Display!

  • Lumix raw files are showing horrible green cast and not option

Hi, since upgrading Aperture to the current version, my new Pictures when shown the preview are ok, however when clicking on them they change to a horrible green. My files are RAW (.RW2) from a Panasonic Lumix GX1. Other thing, when checking in Adjustments, the RAW Fine Tuning Adjustment is greyed.
The ones from my Nikon D800 are good, that means, is not a general problem.

What is your MacOS X version? Your camera should be supported by MacOS X 10.7.4 or later, but your signature says 10.7.2?
If you have MacOS 10.7.4 or later,  but Aperture does not recognize your camera, try to register the raw support for your camera with the launch services db, see this post by Alan Roseman:
Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
But also read the following post, that explain how this is supposed to work and to correct the typo in the command
In short: Quit Aperture, open the terminal, paste the  follwing text in (all in one single line) and hit return; then reboot the system.
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library

  • I've been advised by Firefox to download a software update, but upon downloading, the bar with green lines running across it with the message 'Connecting to the update server' is just going on indefinitely; can you advise on this?

I was advised by Firefox to download and install an important software update. But the bar with green lines running across and saying 'connecting to the update server is going on indefinitely (about an hour now). Can you advise?
    With Thanks,
    Martin

Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />
You may need to delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
    XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\&lt;user&gt;\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)
If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.<br />
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Lumia 930 green colour running across screen

My Lumia 930 has a green colour running across the screen which started right to corner and slowly has run down. Over the space of a few months it has now almost completely covered the screen. Only really visible when the screen is white, in a movie or start screen you don't notice it.. I figured I'll need to change the screen but just wondered what it could be.. Nothing on the net about this phenomena...

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Using my macbook alternately with cinema display and without makes all my screens shift and change in size ?!

After I disconnect from the cinema display and than a few minutes later open up the macbook without the display connected, things are fine. But re-connecting to the display, all the screens are moved and/or changed in size. Anybody any ideas ?

I'm currently sitting in my office using my MBP and looking at a 24" Samsung display. At home I replaced my 4 year old iMac with a 2 year old 13" MBP which is connected to a similar display. That should be tell you all you need to know!

  • Are the all silver cinema display still worth getting?

I'm getting a mac mini anf will need to get a new monitor for it. I was on ebay and saw the all silver cinema displays on theren for arounf 200 dollars. Are those still worth the money and are they good monitors?

This new display is designed for use with the new MacBooks. If you want a dual display solution that works with the current iMacs then you need to buy one of the current Apple Cinema Displays.
Future Apple Cinema Displays will be using the new DisplayPort interface which will require a mini DVI to DisplayPort cable to be used with current iMacs.

  • DVDs look horrible on Apple Cinema Displays

I compress my HD video using Compressor or Adobe Media Encoder, using Compressor's 'Best Quality 90 min' settings. Then burn to a single layer disc through DVD SP. It looks fine on an SD CRT monitor, but when playing back on an Apple 23" Cinema Display, it looks like it's been digitally uprezzed - basically it looks horrible.
However, when purchasing an SD DVD from the store, it plays back beautifully on the Apple displays.
I don't think it's the compression settings. Could it be that I'm burning & duplicatin instead of stamping & replicating? I'm getting lost with this.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Final Cut Studio 3

I find the best way is to export as a self-contained movie to a codec such as ProRes (do not use things like HDV) then bring that into Compressor. In Compressor make it a SD m2v as suggested. Though frame controls add time, it is not too painful when using Better (not Best) settings, especially for resizing. The difference between Better and Best is not worth the trade off most of the time in terms of the length of time needed to encode.
Set up virtual clusters to help with time to encode. Also make your own preset and/or make sure to tweak the Apple presets. If using the 90 Minute preset, for example, it is two pass @ 6.2. If you have an hour worth of material, for example, you can go higher. Sometimes the incremental difference may not be seen, but for an hour you can go up more to where it is noticable. YOu could even try a high CBR rate. Take a look at the links below.

  • Mac Pro and Lucite 23" cinema display turns all white when starting up the

I have a friend that has a 2.6 MacPro and a ADC 23" cinema display with adapter. When ever he starts the computer the screen turns all white and locks ups ? Any ideas what's causing it ?

Try Resetting the PRAM (Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R on start-up), some of the basic monitor parameters are stored there, maybe it'll be enough, and its an easy and harmless procedure.

  • HELP, there are lines (pixels?) all across my imac g5 screen!

I have an imac g5 (2005, pre-intel with a new hard drive last yr) and just recently the monitor has started to have lines all across and now it's nearly covering my whole screen to a point where i can't even see what i'm doing.  i don't know if it's a virus, a major problem or something that can easily be remedied, but i'd sure like to know so that i can figure out whether i can save this computer or scrap it.
here are two videos showing what the problem looks like:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzeMV--fxsc
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raG3pUSNLlk

Look in Console>system.log in Applications>Utilities. Filter for any messages with "graphics." If this is the non-iSight G5, there is a known problem with the graphics chip failing on your computer. If it's the Graphics card, your computer is toast. Sorry.
See if it goes away in Safe Boot. Hold the Shift key down immediately at the startup chime. Safe Boot loads a different, minimal, graphics configuration.
