Horrible Netflix reception

My Ntflix reception was so bad that it was unwatchable.  Does anyone else have this problem? I am thinking of switching to RCN

  • Horrible airport reception in new mac pro's?

    I just received my mac pro late last week. I love everything about it except it's airport reception is really bad. I seem to be getting a lot of packet loss and trouble using it for much of anything. Even browsing the web is super slow.
    I've got wireless devices all throughout my house and have a macbook pro sitting really close to it that connections to the network at full strength.
    Is this to be expected? I've been doing some research and it seems some of the past models have had pretty bad reception too. Right now my work around is hooking it up to my MBP and using connection sharing but would love another solution.

    I don't know about the new Nehalem Macs but I've owned both the first gen Mac Pro and now the Early 2008 version and can only say that the Airport reception is basically terrible. Even after switching antennas this Mac Pro only gets 60% reception while my old old AGP-Sawtooth which lies only 3 feet away gets 100% reception. On the old Sawtooth I can pick up 10 different networks, on the Mac Pro I only get my own and one other with a very weak signal. I did extensive testing with my local Apple dealer in his store and we both came to the conclusion that the Mac pros have crappy airport reception. We compared 3 Mac pros to iMacs and MacBooks in various locations in relation to their Wi-Fi router and the Mac Pros all showed much weaker signal strength that fell to useless in certain locations while the Macbooks still had four bars.
    I've had to situate my router to be on the floor directly above me in order to get three solid bars, while the sawtooth gets full signal strength only three feet away from the Mac Pro. The only solution suggested by my Apple Dealer was a tad pricey but might be very effective: http://www.quickertek.com/

  • Poor wifi reception with 3g iphone

    my 3g iphone has horrible wifi reception I have a linksys wrt54g and upgraded the firmware...i have reset my iphone...it connects but i have to be right next to the router and when I walk into the next room i lose signal. compared to my original iphone the new 3g cannot keep a connection or connect from about n e distance...has anyone else had this problem and what can i do to solve it?

    The iphone is B+G only. Not N.
    If you set your router to not use N, it will connect way better way more quickly.
    Its a little known fact of N that if anything connected to the router is ABG, the whole wifi runs at no better than G, so N is largely smoke and mirrors, and will do you absolutely no good when talking to the internet.
    Second, set the router for WPA2 AES encryption, because this is done in hardware and is secure and fast.
    Yes the Iphone is selective about which networks it will show. Go get WifiTrac from the app store and you will see it can actually detect more networks than it will show. Normally the iPhone only shows a network that has a strong signal.

  • Bad wifi performanc​e

    I am having an issue with my wifi. I somehow have horrible wifi reception (sometimes I cannot connect like 3-5 metres away. Are there any possible soultions as I have also discussed this on crackberry and yet to find a solution that works. I've tried hard reset, wipe, changing the wifi band, restarting the router etc.

  • 1.1.1 signal loss

    i updated to the new firmware and had a signal loss of 2 bars to somtimes flat line at places where i had none before . took it to apple and they gave me a new one and my new phone is back to 5 bars and strong signals like it was before the update.now the firmware is at 1.0.2 and i am not going to change it unless there is a fix for it .

    I'm having a similar experience to yours. When I got my first iphone, I synced it immediately to the 1.1.1 firmware and for the next 2 weeks had horrible signal reception. It would go from 4 bars to no signal from my lifting the phone to my ear or walking 2 feet in any direction. I had no reception in my home or office. I knew it could not be an issue with ATT's coverage as my previous phone, a treo650 had excellent reception both at home and the office and throughout most of San Francisco.
    I took my phone back to the Apple store earlier this week and the tech agreed to give me a replacement. To my surprise, the phone had the 1.0.2 firmware and 03.14.08G modem firmware. The tech offered to update the firmware for me but I declined. This phone has had nothing less than 4 bars since I got the phone, so it is possible my problems with the first phone was due to the firmware.
    This weekend I will sync this phone (its a pain not having any contacts or calendar entries) and install the 1.1.1 firmware and if I again have poor signal reception, then I'll know the problem was with the firmware (as opposed to a hardware issue with my previous phone).

  • Edge and 3g Iphone

    I have great edge signal where i live and i have somewhat good 3g reception but with my iphone the 3g signal is horrible. When i don't have 3g signal it seems like the iphone doesn't know how to switch back to egde without dropping the call. its horrible u might be talking to a customer service from apple explaining and there it goes a dropped call.. its being happening a lot. is anybody having this problem is there any fixes. My old iphone worked just fine but the 3g one its horrible in receptions it seems even in edge. let me know

  • UMA off but Data on? How?

    I get horrible GSm reception in my office, we have a router that UMA works with but we have been asked to restrict our router use to email and other low bandwidth data only.  Is is possible to set up the 8900 to not use UMA on the router but still work with data on wifi (and ever better to go to GSM for voice at the same time?)  I am on T-Mobile.

    Sorry, you can't but if you are under UMA, you can use the Carrier Network to answer the phone, but for default if you have poor reception the device connect automatically to the UMA network.

  • Horrible reception in the house and spotty reception outside?!

    Our wireless reception is horrible in the house. We cannot hold calls at all. We typically have to dash outside to take/make a call. Even then, the outside reception in the yard tends to be spotty. We have to walk around and watch for bars. We noticed a problem when we moved into the house almost 2 years ago but it seems to be worse now. We have also noticed over the past several months that our phones switch over to 3G when we are on one end of the house. They did not do that in the past so I don't understand what the problem is. It is eating up our data. We do not have a land line and rely on our cells for work purposes. The lack of coverage is a huge frustration that we would like to see resolved. We live in the 23061 area. Please help!

    I apologize for not responding to your email in a timely manner.I read it, told myself I'd reply later and then promptly forgot. We noticed when we moved into the home in November of 2011 that the reception was not as strong as it was in our previous house. It was possible to answer and make calls at some places throughout the house while other spots would drop the call almost immediately or communication would fail with the person on the other end hearing what we said but us not being able to hear them. We would hang up and try again at another spot in the house.
    For the last year, at least, we have noticed that there are now only a couple places in the house that will hold the call for any time at all now. In those couple of places, it is almost impossible to finish a conversation without the line going dead on our end. We then are forced to step out onto the front porch or the back deck to place/answer a call (which is such a pain in the rain and the cold!). This is still not a perfect solution because certain places in these locations also have poor reception and the call will drop. I go outside, watch for the bars to be favorable, place the call or answer and stand as still as possible in hopes that the call won't drop. As you would probably imagine, this is very irritating for us as this is our work and home contact for the entire family.
    Any way you could help us would be greatly appreciated!

  • Just bought the best mac mini, but Netflix looks horrible.. Why?

    I bought a mac mini 2.6 ghz, late 2012. I'm using it on a Samsung 40 in smart tv with an HDMI cable. When I get on netflix the videos look horrible, and I'm wondering if there's something I can do to fix the quality of video (other than downloading sliverlight and placing the quality to high on netflix). Thanks for the help

    Sorry for the confusion, I meant that I had already done those things and am wondering if there's anything else I can do. I think I solved the problem, though. The quality is just taking a little longer than my last mac to buffer into HD video.
    I'm also wondering if I should just use the HDMI adapter that came with the mac mini, things like brightness control and volume control can no longer be controled straight from the keyboard because it assumes I'm not lazy and will grab the controller! Also, web pages and just the overall all look is a bit distoreted because it's trying to push it to 40in..I guess.

  • Horrible reception with Airtunes?

    I just connected my speakers to Airport. The sound quality is horrible, though. There is a ton of fuzz in the speakers and the songs are very faint in the distance. No loose connections, either, and the speakers work beautifully when connected directly into my laptop. Is this just a reception problem, or am I connecting something wrong? I'm new to mac, but I already have my printer and ethernet connection in the airport (both of which work fine), and there is only one more connection..for speakers, presumably.

    Based on everything you have described thus far, I would conclude that the analog audio output of your Airport Express is defective. This is not something you can fix - the entire device will need to be replaced. Is yours still covered under the one-year warranty?
    Interference on the wireless network does not cause a noisy audio output. It will cause a complete drop in the audio stream (ie no audio output at all), not a noisy audio output. That is why the problem must be isolated to the Airport Express, if you have eliminated the cable and attached sound system as the cause of the problem.

  • Phone reception HORRIBLE, have to select from drop down menus 2x and INTERNET now freezes and is VERY SLOW SINCE NK1 UPDATE a week ago, no problems prior

    I have had my Note 3 since about 14 months now and have loved it until the last Verizon update.  Since the update my reception is very poor / "breaks up" in my shop.  This is the same shop I have been working in for 6 YEARS!!! Also when I select a drop down tab like a credit card month and make my selection it NEVER saves the 1st time, always have to do it 2x.  The internet used to work great in my shop and could stream Pandora without an issue, now it take 2 minutes to load the first song.
    I feel these simple software issues could make people feel the need to upgrade their phone even though there is nothing wrong with their current phone, pretty creative sales tactic if you ask me.  All I want is my phone to work like it did prior to the 1/16/2015 update.  If I have change my ways and run my off wifi everywhere like I had to back when I had Sprint I might as well switch to a cheaper provider.
    My time is money and wasting time trying to make a phone work like it did before a software update is very frustrating. I have already gone to a Verizon store and was told to do a complete reset.  I spent 2 hours saving everything to my cloud, reset the phone and the same problems still exist.  Please help me find a solution to my problems ASAP

    It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

  • My phone reception is horrible since installing ios7. My calls drop indoors and outdoors and normal places where reception is great, there are no dots at all. How can I fix this on my phone?!

    Does anyone else have this problem? Even in my own bedroom my phone reception keeps cutting out, as well as every single grocery store I walk into.

    You can try restoring the phone but if that doesn't work I would check the updates frequently till they come out with another update. I've herd many of my friends with some what the same problem but not as sever as yours.

  • Horrible reception & dropped calls all of a sudden...

    I have had my Galaxy S4 since Oct 2012 and have never had any issues. All of a sudden, I now have no reception and I drop calls 10 times every 5 minutes. My phone NEVER had issues until about 2 weeks ago. Could it correspond with the recent software update? SO incredibly frustrated, I cant even use it to make calls and the MMS or group texts wont send. Is anyone else out there having this issue?!!

    Dropped calls are a serious no-no in our neck of the woods. And we want you to have service all of the time. May I ask if this is only indoors or if you're just referring to your home area? If it's only indoors, I do have to be honest in saying that no wireless provider can guarantee coverage indoors due to building material and other environmental factors.   • Wireless reception is horrible

    Okay I know that the reception on these things are bad. Is there anything that can be done to increase the sensitivity on my powerbook. I have an new airport extreme base station on the 1st floor and my mackbook will rcv full reception on the 3rd floor but the powerbook wont even see it. Any ideas.
    the powerbook is only about 1.5 years old not much more.

  • Reception Is Horrible After Upgrade!

    Upgraded last week to 4.0.1
    Anywhere I go now I'm struggling to hold a signal. In places I've gotten full bars with 3G, I'm now on about 1-3 bars on Edge and to get a better signal back I have to put on airplane mode and then turn it off, then it will go back to 3G?
    Does this mean that I've always this crappy of service with this new reception calculation?

    this is not a reception issue. it is a network issue with the network not recognizing your phone properly. this is a common upgrade problem. at&t knows about it. this is a common issue on the posts but has gotten confused with the bars and antenna issues but is un-related.
    common solutions: immediate patch = turn off 3G and you can use cell phone and edge just fine.
    next step = reset network settings.
    if that does not work, RESTORE your phone as a NEW phone < not from backup because it will restore the bad apn settings to your phone. if you don't like that idea, see posts online from loveturtle who explains how to delete the bad apn file from your backup and then restore from a backup.
    at&t has been able to push new settings to some people, register them and that has also worked for some...
