Horrible Noise - Cr

I agree too.

I try to resolve problem (drivers, IRQ, PCI Latency, PCI slots, memory tests...etc.), but nothing help me. EAX4 games crash after 30-60 min playing.

Hi folks,
i've got this problem since i bought this god **bleep** Audigy 2 soundcard and i still have no solution to this:
I'm playing "insert random game here" and suddenly, after "insert random time here" playing, i have to take off my headset as quick as possible because the Audigy 2 is causing such a horrible noise. This is immediately followed by screen feeze or blue screen, so i have to reboot via power button.
- I've been trying various different driver including the one it was deli'vered with and the newest available, of course.
- I did a whole reinstall of the OS, just installed the card with drivers and installed a game (Operation Flashpoint to be exact) and guess what! Yeah, same problem! After testing a few hours, the above mentioned happened once again.
System:
Mainboard: Asus A7N8X
Chipset: nVidia nForce 2 (onboard sound, but disabled in bios), newest driver
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (2 GHz)
Graphics card: nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440, newest driver
Operating system: Windows XP Service Pack 2, up2date
RAM: 024 MB DDR400/PC3200
Hi
- does Dr.Watson say anything (see on OS help)?
- what data BSOD screen tells (prog/dll causing error)?
- have you checked if there is IRQ/recource sharings?
- is audio full accelerated?
This so far ...

Makes horrible noise and will not move past initializing.

    Hi @HealthITLadyRed,
I read your post and see that the printer is making noise and is stuck initializing. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I have provided some steps to try to see if we can resolve this issue.
Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.
Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.
Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.
Update the printer's firmware by a USB connection. Software and Drivers.
Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware. This resolved the previous posters issue.
I can send a private message with another step to try.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What happened prior to this issue? (paper jam, changed toner) Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Is this a new printer?

  • IBook making horrible noises and now my hard drive is missing?!

This morning my iBook started making this horrible noise and then none of my programs would respond. I was able to temporarily fix it using disk utility. It then started again a few hours ago. I tried doing what I did before, but this time it didnt work. I have also been getting a flashing ? at start up. I tried all the steps listed here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58042
    and none of them worked.
When I booted from the Mac OSX disk, my Hard Drive wasnt mounted so I went through al the steps for resetting the PRAM and that didnt work either. I finally went to do Archive Install and now I have no Hard Drive!?
    Please help me!!

Hi, Rachel. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I would recommend investing in DiskWarrior to repair your hard drive. It can often find the drive when Apple's own Disk Utility cannot.
My advice would be to buy DiskWarrior, use it to repair your hard drive, and then do the Archive and Install.
    Good luck.

  • Superdrive makes horrible noise when burning

My Super drive makes this horrible noise when burning cd's or dvd's. Its like a vibration w/ loud noise.. Sometimes when I play dvd, i can hear this noise a little bit as well. Now I've only started hearing this noise once I started ripping dvd w/ a dvd rip program... I dont know if this can be the cause of this noise, does anyone have any advise on how to solve this problem. now I am afraid of burning any cd's, dvd's because I do not want to cause any damage to the computer itself.. Help.....

    Hello Muntasir
Maybe try a different brand, the superdrives are very picky about media. I normaly buy only Memorex, Maxell, Sony DVD's and Sony or Fujifilm CDs for the cars CD players. I just think your better off buying them in the 5 packs untill you find out which one's the drive likes.

  • Horrible noise with error 5100, MX700

After error 5100, I have tried resetting the printer, cleaning the tape, clearing any jams.  No luck.  Assoon as I turn on the unit, I get a horrible gear stripping noise with the error message; ink cartridges do not appear when I open the top.  They are hiding over on the left.

    Hello MWMarchitect.
Please try the following to see if we can resolve your issue:
    1.  Turn the printer off.
    2.  Unplug the power from the printer for at least 5-10 minutes.
    3.  While unplugged, remove any paper from the unit.
    4.  Double check for any obstructions found in the unit or paper paths.
    5.  If no obstructions are found, plug the power back in and turn the unit on.

  • Please help with Horrible noises on Win 7 64bit install?

? I have an X-fi xtrememusic card that came from Dell preinstalled. The card works fine in 32 bit OSes and in 64bit linux but I'm disappointed yet again with this latest driver update that fixes nothing for me. I have terrible noises coming from the channels that do work. It's a 5. channel system. Any help and guidance would be appreciated. I had tried researching and fixing this before but put it on the back burner hoping an updated driver would eventually fix it. Win 7 RC has been out quite a while now and still no fix from Creative so here I am begging for help in a forum. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help. I have an nvidia video card that is sli ready but I don't have a 2nd card installed, not sure if that info matters.

What does dep compliant mean? Are you talking about Data Execution Prevention? I understand win 7 is still in beta or Release Candidate status. It is due to start shipping in only?a few months so if Creative doesn't get on the ball, OEM's will ship with other vendors hardware. My on board Realtek sound works just fine but I would like to use the "upgraded" card I paid good money for. I am using the latest driver from Creative which is for my configuration. Can you please be more specific with your assistance? To answer your queston, yes, device manager shows that Creative drivers are installed. Thank you for your [email protected]

  • Horrible Noise from PB17 with external units drawing power from FW.

With external boxes that draw power from the firewire bus (Audio interfaces/SSL Duende etc.),
my powerbook makes a terrible sort of digital whine.
(actually it sounds a bit like cassette based program loading on old 8-bit computers (e.g. ZX Spectrum)).
The noise is coming from under the rear left of the keyboard.
I'm convinced it's something to do with power draw as it only happens with boxes that take their power from FW.
Sorry if this is a repeat question. I did a really long search, but only got a couple of allusions to this.
Thanks again in advance for any help.

  • Horrible noise

    Hello,
I use an Imac Intel Core I5 for less than a year. From time to time, it freezes and starts to make a HUGE noise, some kind of an enormous sizzle. It could be while I'm reading my mail, or watching a movie, or listening to music... And when I say huge, I mean it.
It's sudden and the walls are trembling !
No way to mute it or to turn it off withou pushing the poweer button.
Sometimes, the sizzle is covered with a huge alarm.
I've been looking on the net without finding anyone with the same problem.
    Could you help me ?

I will. But I can't call the service at 7AM (I live in France), so I just wanted to get some users opinions.

  • Horrible noise when CD import finishes.

    Does anybody know...
How do I stop the noise that happens when a CD import is finished? It interferes with the music I'm listening to.
    Thanks.

    It's not that loud/disturbing.
    Oh, yes, IT IS...
Two days ago a nice three-tone sound, announcing the end of importation, turned into 155 mm HE grenade's explosion...
You must have your system volume & speakers cranked
    to the max.
Yeah, right...with a preferences option: "enable listening during importation" checked...:-/

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen, click the "copy to clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Did not listen to 'do not disconnect' and now there's a noise and a sad ipo

It all started when I was in a hurry and ejected my ipod from itunes. As usual, it was removed from the Source list but my ipod still said 'do not disconnect.' I unplugged it and left. Hours later I was at my friends house and plugged it into her laptop to get some of her songs. It wasn't recognized in her Source list and it started to make weird, loud, grinding noises. I reset it and the sad ipod face guy came up. I went to the support page and it said to fully charge it before anything else. So, all last night I charged it and it continued to make that horrible noise all night. I went back to the 5 R's and tried all of them. I finally went to restore it but it's showing that icon that means that it isn't charged enough for the computer to recognize it. Similarily, the ipod updater keeps asking me to plug in an ipod, even though it's plugged in. Now, every couple of minutes, as my ipod is plugged in to my comp via USB, the apple icon shows up, it makes that noise and then the sad guy pops up. What should I do? (I apologize for the length but there's just so much going on with this.)

Strange noises are a telltale sign of hardware failure. If you want to be totally sure that your iPod is a baddie, reset your iPod, and when the apple logo is showing, press and hold the rewind and clicker buttons for several seconds. When you do this, the iPod should "chirp" and the apple will reverse. Now it's in diagnostic mode. After doing this, try to run the automatic tests. (note that when in this mode, the trackpad doesn't work, you have to use the rewind and fast forward buttons to go back and forth). Have iPod plugged in when doing this. If you end up with a sad iPod icon, then it needs to be sent in...

  • Very loud fan (or other part?) noise in MacBook Pro

Greetings!  My fan (I assume) has recently started making a very loud, horrible noise that sounds like a piece of plastic stuck in the spokes of a bike.  It's driving me crazy and making me a burden to be around me when I'm working...which is always.  Please help!  I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Perform a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
If there is no change, open the MBP and examine it.  Look for dirt an debris, and if found, clean it out.  You will need a #00 Phillips driver.
If still no success it may be that the fan is faulty and should be replaced.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free and definitive diagnosis.  It is not an expensive repair.
    Ciao.

  • Horrible in-board mike on Helix

WIndows 8.1 has a new recording app which I figured would be good. And even when I have used Skype I found the inboard mike on the tablet was practically useless. Both mikes (one at the top of the sreen and one at the bootm are located close to the fans and therefore make horrible noise when recroding or using skype. I went to these forums to learn about adjusting the device drive to no avail, the location of the Mikes make them useless.
So I plugged in a wired mike I used in my old laptop into my USB sound card that has both mike and earphone inputs and voila the sound is wonderful.
It is indeed sad that such an expansive hybrid like Helix has the worst mikes I have ever heard on a laptop. If the Lenovo design team reads this, please place the onboard mikes far from the fans in the next iteration!!!

I think the next step would be to buy the Apple 65W and return it if it didnt solve the problem. If the Genius Bar is accessible, you could test it on site of course.
I have bought a couple of off brand PS for my Ibooks in the family and they have worked ok. I do prefer the PS with the charge light though.

  • Fan noise (not moo or whine)

I have a new mbp, the second one, both whined. On this one while moving my laptop I can listen to the fan scratching against something. Should I worry about this and get it repaired now, I need my laptop a lot and I can't afford to be without it. By the way, it whines like **** and it's a 1,83ghz. I've seen 4 mbp 1,83 and they all whined. I've also seen a white macbook that didn't whine.
It's very difficult to me to get support and replace my laptop, no apple stores arround here. (Portugal).

I know getting AppleCare support can be difficult in some countries. Does this list of Apple support numbers help at all? I know Portugal isn't listed, but perhaps one of the nearby countries...?
You don't need to be near a retail Apple Store to get warranty support, as long as you can contact AppleCare by phone.
On this one while moving my laptop I can listen to the fan scratching against something. Should I worry about this and get it repaired now...
It's not a good idea to move a running notebook Mac, although we all do it sometimes. Obviously they can moved a bit when in use without problem, such as when using in a moving bus, train, airplane, etc. But I've never had one that didn't make some ugly-sounding fan noises when moved abruptly. (The optical drive with a CD/DVD in it will also make horrible noises if picked up abruptly while in use. Not a good idea.)
In other words, unless the sound occurs when all you have done is lightly move the MBP, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't jar the computer heavily when it's running. That's never a good idea.
If the sound does occur at the slightest movement of the computer, and it sounds like something is being damaged, then definitely call AppleCare if you can.
(Yes, we now have the sudden motion sensor, which should help in such a situation by protecting the hard drive. But that doesn't mean some damage can't still be caused by dropping or jarring the MBP. It's still best to avoid such things.)
