Horrible performance drop with mixed ports 100 & 1000 on the LAN side.

I have horrible performance with newly bought lrt224.
WAN side is a 150 Mb/s Cable connection.
LAN has 3 ports at 1Gb/s and 1 port at 100 Mb/s
Test:
On any of the lan ports at 1 Gb/s I do a test via speedtest.net and get 150 Mb/s
On the Lan port at 100 Mb/s I do a test via speedtest.net and get 10 Mb/s (same server)
Weird part, I do a LAN (1Gb/s) to LAN (100Mb/s) test I get around 99Mb/s.
Second weird part, I replace WAN side cable modem with a VDSL+ line and I get max VDSL+ performance of 75 Mb/s.
Any hints?

I've bought leather case for iPhone 4 with a magnet clip situated on the back side just above the "apple" label. Can it interfere with any signals or made other damage?

I have been using a leather case with a magnetic clasp for months.  The only side effect is that I need to recalibrate the compass app when I use it.  This is really not a problem since I don't use the compass app very often.  I haven't encountered any other interference or problems.

  • Any performance drop with a retina display?

    Hi!
I'd love to buy a Macbook Pro 15" Retina Display but knowing that retina renders a very higher resolution, is there any performance drop in comparison with a normal Macbook Pro?
I'm a developer and I wonder if a Retina display would be a good idea? Is it softer for the eyes?
    Thanks!

I use my 4-month old, 2012 Retina Macbook Pro for music applications, presentations, and graphic design.
This computer is leaps & bounds above the competition in performance and convenience.  I expect it to last me a very long time!
On that note, keep in mind some of the new Oct. 2013 15" rMBP's do not have an NVIDIA Graphics Card.  In my opinion, having this component in the computer is crucial as a developer!
If I were you, I'd shop for a refurbished 15" rMBP, as I did.  As I see it, I saved $500+ getting a brand new state-of-the-art computer in a different type of box.

  • Create contextual performance dashboard with counters not directly targeted to the retrieved class

So, I've been asked to create a Dashboard quite similar to the sample created by Brian Wren : https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/PerformanceMonitor-Sample-0714ddd0
But with the requirement of displaying performance counters that are not directly targeted to the retrieved class.
For instance, they want to display a list of Windows computers and when a computer is selected, display perf counters for CPU, RAM and every logical disk instance.
I know powershell quite well, but that's where my development skills end and I must admit I'm a bit lost here...  A "performance by context" widget would have been so helpful in this situation!
Is this even possible to achieve?
    Any hint on how?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
As we know, we can add performance widget for dashboard, and we may select All Windows Computers group, then we can add Memory, LogicalDisk, Processor related performance counters. Then every members in this group will dispaly all of those counters within
    the dashboard.
But if choose other objects, such as database, we may not have option to select such performance counters.

  • Ludicrous performance drop with JAR-packaged tag files.

I have a number of tag files which work just fine as long as they are in the WEB-INF/tags folder in the web application. Each page is loaded in a blink. I havent meassured response times exactly but they are well below half a second.
But as soon as I move them to a JAR and put it in the WEB-INF/lib folder, every page that uses the tags becomes painfully slow. Typical response time is 30+ seconds.
I have tried swapping back and forth between the JAR package and putting-everything-in-the-WEB-INF-folder. And the result is consistent.
I have only run tests in the NB4.0 IDE.
    I use NetBeans 4.0, Windows 2000.
My unqualified guess is that each JSP that uses the tags is somehow forced to be recompiled at each request.
    Anybody had the same experience?

My application is running under JBoss 4.0.4, which uses Tomcat 5.5 as the web container.
I ran FileMon on the server while loading one of my pages that uses tag files that are packaged into a jar file. During a single page load, the JAR file was hundreds of times - I would guess, once per tag.
Does anyone know if Tomcat does caching or exploding of tag files that are stored in a JAR? It appears that it is reloading the tag file from the JAR every time, which is adding seconds onto every page load! Does anyone know any more information about this?

  • Performance difference with my MBP 15" 2010 and the new 2011 one(gaming?)

    Hey guys,
I have a 2.67 i7 2010 15" MPB(the higher end model)that I got last year. I use it for work and for college but I also like to play games on it.
I recently got an Apple newsletter as I noticed the huge performance boost of the newer models. I went to a review site and my specific model nearly doubled in benchmark scores with the newer model. That doesn't seem like something that would normally happen. It seems like a rarity thats just too good to ignore. And this summer with the semesters being over I probably will go back to full on gaming(probably Portal 2 and WoW for the summer).
My question to you is, since I can't go by the opinion of one site, what is the performance difference between the 2010 model I have and the newer 2011 one? Basically I am wondering if its worth it to sell it for several hundred dollars less than I payed for it and get the newer model now, or wait until 2012 to get the newest model then(if its going to be an even bigger difference in performance)?
Excuse my poor judgement if I'm wrong, I probably seem like a maniac for using this comp for a year and already wanting to get the newer model. Its just that a lot of sites are making it seem like my model is fodder compared to the newer ones, and if so I might not let this offer pass by.

    bump for good measures!

  • USB ports not working on the Windows side

A few days ago I installed Windows 7 Ultimate onto my mid 2012 Macbook Pro, but I noticed my USB ports will not recognize any device when I'm on my Windows side. My friend installed the same OS the same way I did (through a university agreement burn disc) and we used the same USB drive with Bootcamp support, but his ports work while mine don't. Any suggestions?

Does he have the same exact laptop, model and year?

  • Vrf-Lite with MPLS requires a PE at the customer side?

    Folks,
Looking at a cisco doc, which gives a sample configuration of VRF lite with MPLS (multiple customers in the same building using same MPLS cloud). My question is that how is it done in the real world. Does the provider place a PE at the customer site? cause the connection between the CE and PE has to be a link that can carry dot1Q (ethernet or fast etheret) atleast the example shows that.
Any real world experience would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
the customer needs no PE router installed at his site.
You can use vrf-lite (aka multi-vrf) even on a Cisco router, which does not support MPLS at all. On the CE each dot1Q subinterface can be placed in a vrf. All you need is a routing process started within the vrf being adjacent to the PE.
    Example CE:
    ip vrf CE-VRF1
    rd 65000:1
    interface FastEthernet0.100
    encapsualtion dot1Q 100
    ip vrf forwarding CE-VRF1
    ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
    router ospf 100 vrf CE-VRF1
    network 10.1.1.1 0.0.0.0 area 1
The PE would have MBGP and different RD and RTs defined, whatever is needed to setup VRFs in the provider network. Infact PE and CE each do not know about each others VRF configs at all.
VRFs on the CE define a separate IP routing context (control plane). The separation on the data plane is done via dot1Q headers (frame-relay, ATM PVC etc. would do as well) on the link between CE and PE. In an MPLS network data plane separation is done via labels.
    Hope this helps
    Martin

  • Can I plug my remote airport extreme into my ethernet to improve the signal of the wds network? If so which port do I use the lan or wan

My signal downstairs is pretty weak even though I can see it as part of my WDS, I have access to a hard wired internet connection downstairs should I plug in my secondary airport extreme direct to improve my wireless downstairs?

    Hi Other
Unfortunately you cannot use a Graphite as a client to join a wifi network. Your best bet would be to get one of the game adapters such as the Linksys WGA54G which you can plug into the ethernet port on your Wii to bridge to a wireless network.

  • Having problems with pro audio under Vista on the Intel side?

This article has some extremely interesting information about that and might be helpful.
    http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html
    IMac

    Is this for real?
"Since S/PDIF doesn't provide any content protection,
Vista requires that it be disabled when playing
protected content [Note E]. In other words if you've
sunk a pile of money into a high-end audio setup fed
from an S/PDIF digital output, you won't be able to
    use it with protected content.
    Very real!
I have heard the writer in an interview on a security program
and they went into all the problems this is going to cause.
There are people who have bought large screen tvs that
will not work with Vista because the company did not put
the required hardware into the device,(because they did not
want to pass the cost on to the consumer and raise the price
of their product). Not only that but the required DRM that is
mandated in connected devices is supposed to disable itself if
it senses someone trying to get around the protection.
Plus, if you create your own HD or high quality audio, who is
to say that Vista wont try and protect it from yourself!
Microsoft has bowed down to the movie industry by putting this
so far down into the core of the operating system that I see this
as a incentive to piracy and switching platforms.
Say your on a skype call and you start playing a piece of music
with DRM, your connection would probably be gone since audio
    is all routed the same.
A fluctuation of voltage could be interpreted as a attack and trigger
tilt bits that cause subsystems to reboot and denial of license to
drivers. So just a power surge could cause some of your system
to stop working not because of the surge but because Vista
    felt threatened.
The real pirates will figure out how to get around this and
it will just be a problem for normal users.
I new they were not bright but this takes stupidity to a whole
    new demension.

  • Performance drop around 20% after adding an index

    Hi,
I have an xml file (around 300 Kb, 3500 Nodes), the application internal works with dbxml handles but for display purposes I need xpaths for each node. First I was calculating them on request, but for requests with a lot of nodes it just takes too long (also memory usage was a big issue). In order to improve the performance I'm building a kind of metadata file after the import of the original document. The structure of this metadata file is:
    <data>
        <node idx:id="<berkeley dbxml node handle>">
            <xpath>...here some xpath...</xpath>
        </node>
</data>That improved significantly the memory usage, but the response time is still a little bit below acceptable. Now I've thought, that adding an index to that metadata file would do it, BUT it doubled the response time. In the shell (with a much simpler query) the performance drop is around 20%.
    Query in the shell:
    doc("container.dbxml/test.xml.metadata")/data/node[@idx:id="BgIBBQAO"]/xpathQueryPlan without index:
    <XQuery>
      <DbXmlNav>

        </QueryPlanFunction>

      </DbXmlNav>
    </XQueryChanging query to
doc("container.dbxml/test.xml.metadata")//node[@idx:id="BgIBBQAO"]/xpathslows down the query more than adding the index.
In my application I've also tried setIndexNodes(true) on my container, the response time increased by factor 10... Am I doing something wrong?
Please tell me, if you need more information.

In my application, without fetching the metadata a query for 10 nodes takes 6ms, with fetching the metadata 6s (so around 1000 times slower).
I could go down to 4.5s after changing:
declare variable $METADATA := doc(concat($CONTAINER,'/',$DOCUMENT,'.metadata'))/data;and then in the function:
    distinct-values($METADATA/node[@idx:id = $id]/xpath)to:
declare variable $METADATA := concat($CONTAINER,'/',$DOCUMENT,'.metadata');and in the function:
doc($METADATA)/data/node[@idx:id = $id]/xpath I've also seen dbxml:lookup-attribute-index function, but calling ist like this
    dbxml:lookup-attribute-index($CONTAINER,"id")[1]results in:

  • Why doesn't the SLM2024 Smart Switch 10/100/1000 support 10M?

    Hi,
Since a couple of weeks I have installed 5 SLM2024 Gig Smart Switches. Now we have a new Time Attendance System that tries to communicate to the Cisco with 10M. The Cisco identifies it correctly but will not parse any info to the Device. Why is that?
    Test it with a D-Link 10/100 Switch -> OK
Test with a Cisco 10/100 Switch -> OK
Test with noname 10/100/1000 Switch -> OK
    Test with SLM2024 -> Failed.
I would love for someone to explain this to me. What does the Cisco do? I would gather that if a Switch is 10/100/1000 it can communicate over anyone.
    Anybody?
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
I would definitely expect to be receiving broadcast packets, maybe ARP packets  from the time attendance advice.
    Yep that is a problem.
But, why are you not receiving broadcast packets on the port that is connected to the time attendance device.hmm that my question that I am mulling in the back of my mind.  Your switch port statistics showed an issue.
    Packet capture
A wireshark or packet trace would be most useful , so mirroring the time attendance switch  port to your PC's switch port would be useful.  This would allow us to see what is coming in and out of that switch port.
Pretty easy to setup on this managed switch, see my screen capture below as an example.
Wireshark is a wonderful freeware 'sniffer' software  that would allow us to see the ethernet frames coming in and out of the switch port in question.
to grab wireshark try the following URL;   http://www.wireshark.org/download.html
Don't need much data just a 30 second capture and remember to undo the mirroring and save changes  after the capture is taken.
    MAC address Table
Be interesting to see the dynamic MAC address table to see the MAC address of the time attendance device.
Might be most intersting to add a static arp entry for the time attendance device, MAP it's MAC address to a switch port.
(This is only necessary if there isn't a dynamic ARP entry, MAC address of the time attendance device on the switch port.)
see my screen capture below, you will also note, that underneath the static address is a option to look at the dynamic address.
Switch port Status and Error log
But could be most useful to see the setting for that switch port similar to the two following screen captures.
lastly the log is informative as it might indicate what or where the error is.

  • Sudden MBP Retina 15" gaming performance drop

    Hi there,
I've owned my Macbook Pro Retina since a few weeks after it came out last year, and have generally loved using it. However, I'm starting to worry now as I've noticed a severe performance drop lately in games.
I've not booted into Bootcamp (Windows 8 x64) for about two months now, but today I loaded up Skyrim, and the performance was atrocious. The game was unplayable at 1920x1200 on high, unmodded. It lags horribly - 10FPS at most. I used to be able to play this game heavily modded and achieve a high FPS. I've noticed a performance drop with other games as well, much lower than what I'd expect from this machine.
I've checked out GPU-Z and the 650M GT clocks up to 900MHz when the game launches.
I'm not sure what has caused this but I've done some reading and people have suggested an "SMC Reset" - I've tried this to no avail. If anyone could lend any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

Well one problem is that bootcamp hasn't been updated to support Windows 8 yet, so there may be driver issues there. I have experienced this problems and so have others in this forum and an smc reset has fixed the majority. Are you sure you are performing the SMC reset correctly? Also, try a PRAM reset and see if that helps resolve the issue.

  • Node redirects to self with incorrect port

    Hi!
    Here is a RAC (11.2.0), with 3 SCAN IP addresses (A1, A2, A3) and nodes N1 and N2. Node n1 is mapped to A1 and A2, while N2 to A3.
When connecting to the SCAN hostname (or any of the addresses directly), most of the times everything is ok. But sometimes as I see in sniffing, I get a TNS Redirect to a new HOST+PORT.
Now, what is interesting, that from N1 the redirection is to N1:XYZ (yes, the same machine), and from N2 to N2:DEF. After listing open ports, I can see that
N1:DEF is bound by the process ora_d000 on TCP, while N2:XYZ is also bound by the process on the other machine.
That is, in the redirect I somehow get redirected to the wrong machine, since the IP and the PORT of the instances are mixed. Some questions:
    1) Is it normal to redirect to a port non-1521? DEF and XYZ are high ports, seemingly random.
    2) What controls if I get redirected or not? Is this connection load balancing?
    3) What could cause the symptom? What config options should I look into and where to resolve the correct machines/ports on redirect?
Pretty new to Oracle, so please don't assume much knowledge. Thanks!
    Ron

After taking tcpdump both on client and the nodes, I discovered the following:
When connecting to N1, the redirect message it sends, captured:
    - On the server-side: HOST:PORT=N2:<port for N2>
    - On the client-side: HOST:PORT=<ip-address of N1>:<port of N2>
Maybe there is an application-level firewall sitting between the node and the client, which mis-translates the message?

  • Big performance drop migrating to Kodo 4.1 (Why would Kodo refuse to batch inserts in certain tables)

    Hello,
While migrating from Kodo 3.4 to Kodo 4.1, I noticed significant drop in
insert performance. I traced it down to some strange batching behavior.
While most of the PCs were committed with batched inserts one particular
class refused to batch and would insert row by row resulting in 10 times
    performance drop.
There is nothing special about the class. Its hierarchy is mapped on base
its table except for one of the lowest members which is mapped vertically.
    Thank you very much

Abe could you get a bit deeper into it ?
It sounds like kodo 3 was batching that rows and had no problem with it ?
We only ship with the suggested oracle driver 10.2.0.1.0.
50% of our customers use oracle, so it would be a pity if performance
    drops.
Alex ... it sounds like you successfully migrated to kodo4.
Could you give a short summery on how 'difficult' it was in the end ?
From the docs it sounds very easy (except the sentence 'Many
    confniguration
properties and defaults have changed.') but from the newsgroups it sounds
    as if
    you'd struggle a bit.
I'm about to schedule our migration for the first quarter of 2007 and any
    hint
helping use to estimate the time will help us.
If you compare with migration from kodo 2 to 3 ... is it easier or worse ?
