Horrific PowerPoint Import

Anyone know why PowerPoint files import into Captivate with low resolution images? The PowerPoint file has high res images, but in Captivate, looks horrfic.

What's probably happening here is that the size of the Captivate stage is very different from the PPT sizing, and that's causing some loss of resolution when it scales.
If you have Captivate 6, try using the new High Fidelity import setting.
If on an older version of Cp, see if you can modify the setup of the PPT file so that it matches the Captivate slide.  Perhaps that will help. However, (and I know this is NOT what you're going to want to hear) for the ultimate solution that would keep your images at highest resolution, you'd probabl need to build the presentation in Captivate from the start using the same assets.

  • Autoscale small (powerpoint-imported) presentation to a larger screen?

I wished to demo KN to some PC colleagues at work, and just imported a very trivial powerpoint file into Keynote.
I can see everything comes OK but whenever I ask Keynote to just run the show, it presents it in a very small rectangle on my large 17' screen. (the surrounding zone is black)
Needless to say, when I use powerpoint the same presentation auto-scales niftily to use all screen surface available
I didn't dare show this to anyone, because I can already hear the laughs: How can I get the same "auto-scaling" effect that they have on powerpoint?
(also: is the issue due to the powerpoint import, or is it general to Keynote?)
    TIA!

  • PowerPoint importing and editing

I'm fairly new to captivate with very little training.  What I know, which is very basic, I have figured out by trial and error. The agency I work for just upgraded to Captivate 8.  I would like to know more about developing in PowerPoint, importing the PowerPoint to captivate and then editing the material.  I have figured out how to import individual PowerPoint slides, but not a complete course.  Do you have any suggestions on where I could find this information?  Another question I have is, how do you account for this size difference when developing something in PowerPoint and importing it to an 800 X 600 captivate?  As an agency, we set a standard to us an 800 X 600 captivate size.

Importing PPT-slides is not a good idea, if you want to edit the slides, because each PPT-slide will be converted into sort of a movie slide. The different objects will not be editable. If you want a PPT plug-in there are other and better solutions. Captivate is a real eLearning tool. Use the assets and create the CP-file from scratch if you want to edit. And it is not even possible to use PPT-slides for responsive projects in Captivate.
To create a CP-file from a PPT, use File, New Project, Project from MS Powerpoint. The CP-file will choose a resolution that is the same as the PPT-file. One of the crazy ideas of PPT is that slide size is in print units (in or cm) instead of the more logical screen units (px).

  • Problem with PowerPoint import

Hi , When I import an PowerPoint slide in Arabic Language to
my project its characters changes to Left to Right format and its
face crash into bad form . Can I correct them ?

Okay, thank you! Unfortunately, Arabic is not a supported
language. You can see more about what languages are supported - and
    more -
    at
    this link to system requirements
. NOTE: They have already changed this link to show info for "
Captivate 3" (not 2) but that information should be the same
    for both.
I am sorry I cannot help more, but maybe there is a way you
can use text-caption properties to align typed input to the right
side. I really don't know what to tell you beyond what we've
    already discussed.
    Have a happy day!

  • The powerpoint import in Captivate 5 cannot be normally processed

I just installed Adobe Captivate 5 with Adobe elearing Suite 2, Since I've already installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection, The installation only added Captivate 5 in my computer(for I use office 2010, which version of office has no compatibility with Presenter 7, so it hadn't been installed), but when I choose import from powerpoint in the welcome interface of Cp 5 and then I choose a ppt or pptx file which I wanna import, when it began to import, it was extremely slow, even "No Responding"! It showed no difference with .ppt or .pptx files. In other words, it cannot import any slides now! How do I slove this problem?

I am also having problems importing PPT 2010 into Captivate 5. On the first attempt, it imported the PPT files with about 13 errors. It could not read shadowed text correctly. The size of the imported file doubled!
Since that attempt, Captivate 5 will not import PPT 2010 files at all. I receive the following error message: Cannot import the selected file. Refer to the documentation to ensure that you have installed the correct version of Microsoft Office. I have even uninstalled/reinstalled PPT 2010 (rebooting twice of course).
On an other site related to Adobe TV the statement is made that importing of PPT 2010 files has not been properly tested. If this is the case, why is adobe advertising that Captivate is PPT 2010 compatible?
In response to my feed back I received the following email: "A moderator has removed your comment to http://tv.adobe.com/watch/rich-media-in-technical-documentation/adobe-captivate-and-adobe- presenter-the-best-of-both-worlds/".

  • PowerPoint Import in Captivate 7

So i imported my PowerPoint project in Captivate and i chose the High Fidelity option but, the transitions are missing? Doesn't everything come in intact? Please help?

    Hi There,
    Welcome To Adobe Forum.
We would like to inform you that transitions does not work in captivate if they are imported through powerpoint slides.
However you can apply transitions through inside captivate.

  • PowerPoint Import Color Problem in v7

We have a picture file of a white logo on our PowerPoint files. When we import the slides with this logo, the logo's color changes to black.  Does anyone know why or, more importantly, how to fix it?  We are using Captivate v7.

Has this logo transparency? Which image format did you use? Can you check the slide quality in Captivate, default is now Optimized and would be fine for images with transparency. But if the quality is set to low (8-bit) you could have this kind fo problems, and have to upgrade it to Optimized or High.

  • Powerpoint imported into Captivate4

I am using Captivate 4.I have created project
template(.cptl). I want the imported powerpoint slides to get
aligned with this template. But though the slides are getting
imported, the alignment with template design is not happening. Is
there any tips like in MS powerpoint, we create slide master and
instert slides to this master, and all insterted slides align with
the properties of the master slides. Can anyone suggest any
    tips>

WELCOME to Captivate's all volunteer forum.
PowerPoint has size resolutions based on the page size
settings in Powerpoint. Here are the conversions that you can try
in PowerPoint. Set your page size, save the file and then try the
    import again.
    960 x 720 = 10" x 7.5"
    640 x 480 = 6.67" x 5"
    800 x 600 = 8.33" x 6.25"
You can link or embed the PowerPoint. When you import yu have
an option to make the slides advance on CLICK or based on TIME.
If you are using PowerPoint 2007 and the advanced SmartText,
then the imported quality will be terrible. I am using SmartText
and I end up exporting the PowerPoint as BMP images and then I copy
those into each slide location as needed. The import filter is just
too crude for my needs with SmartText.
Your template should not have PowerPoint links or embedding.
A template is designed as the starting point of a presentation and
you might want to embed the PowerPoint images only to get a default
background. Try to Export from PowerPoint using the Save-As option
and pick BMP, PNG, JPG, Etc. to your satisfaction. Those exported
images can then become the BACKGROUND for pages in the Template.
    Hope this helps

  • PowerPoint Import Failure

    Hi,
I have just recently downloaded the trial for Captiveate2 and
i am looking to import a single slide from PowerPoint. I click
import Powerpoint slide - select the file it runs through the file
but then hangs and does not display any thumbnails - Nada Nothing.
It hangs then i have to force it to close. It is only 1 slide not a
    huge powerpoint presentation. Any ideas?

Hi cbeck79 and welcome to the community
Sounds like Captivate 2 may have the the same issues
Captivate 1 did if there aren't sufficient permission levels set.
    Click
here to read a technical note about this
Additionally, here is a copy paste from a thread on the
subject where someone named "SecurityNazi" posted a workaround:
Understood...however, the average user is also unable to add
themselves to the Power User group in such a scenario. Either
solution would require a Systems Administrator to make the change.
We've tested a few things, and it seems we've found a
fix....of course, this would need to be modified as a Systems
Admin, but once accomplished, it seems the user is able to import
    the files with no problem.
FIX: As an admin, drill down to C:\Program Files\Macromedia,
and change the user permissions on the Captivate folder to
    "Modify".
This solution enables us to maintain the OS's integrity, and
yet allows the user to still make use of this functionality of the
    software.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Powerpoint Import on Mac is Unusable?

Well, I almost don't know where to begin.
I'm  running CP5 on a mac. Was excited to see a mac version, and wrote to  Pooja (CP5 beta test manager) to ask about issues/gotchas running on a  mac. He led me to believe it was a feature complete release. I'm seeing  other folks having PPT import issues on Windows, but can it be this bad  on the other platform? What I'm seeing is completely unusable.
I  created a 3 slide PPTX using Powerpoint for Mac 2011. CP5 imported and  linked without complaint - I could even see the slide thumbnails in the File Open dialog - but the slides came in without any content. I  only saw the background for my master slide with a clickbox on top and there was no Powerpoint content. So I saved the file in PPT  format, re-imported and same result. So then I opened VMWare and  launched Powerpoint 2010 on Windows 7. Created a PPTX there, re-imported  and same result, so I saved again in PPT format, repeated the import  yet again, and still the same result. I am simply getting no content  whatsoever in CP5 for Mac from Powerpoint!
This leads  me to believe that I must be doing something wrong, because I don't  think Adobe would claim that the feature worked if it didn't.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
FYI, I don't mind building most of the course in CP, but I sure would like to be able to get some Powerpoint tables into CP even as a flattened image.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Your issues with roundtripping PPT may be due to the PPT 2011 file format.
Have you tried saving to an earlier version of PPT such as 2007 and then importing that?
I'm on a PC not a MAC, but Cp5 isn't claiming support for PPT 2010 yet as far as I know, so maybe PPT 2011 would be in a similar position.

  • PowerPoint Import and Edit

We are evaluating Captivate 3 and its ability to import
PowerPoint. It appears the slides cannot be edited once imported?
It looks like they are flattened.
    Can anyone tell me differently?
    Thanks

Captivate 5 has a problem with importing shadows correctly.
PPT audio sound will not play in captivate. You have to apply the audio in Captivate, but this does not start at the same time as PPT.  The audio clip needs pushing forward on the timeline to delay its start. This messes up the animation timings.
I also have noticed that the last bullet/number point in a series will not play with out clicking-sometimes twice. The slide does not advance automatically even if set that way.
It seems to be a help if you do not use the text boxes that are pre-set to Master backgrounds.
Try setting each bullet point into a separate text box, then aligning and verticall distributing them in the Alignment tab on the ribbon.

  • Future editing of PowerPoint imports

I am utilizing Captivate to import training modules from
PowerPoint into Flash format. The issue is that once they are
imported, they cannot be easily modified.
I am looking for a more permanent solution to create these
training modules, with future modifications in mind. Is there a
better way to create these in Captivate, or to modify the imports.
Right now, the best solution appears to be maintaining 3 versions
of each module (PP, Cap, Flash)and importing individual slides when
they are modified, which isn't feasible.
I tried copy and pasting into caption boxes, but this was
cumbersome at best, and with over 100 modules, is not practical, or
easily modified later. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, that makes sense. If that's the case then what are my options for making Captivate slides imported from PPT 508-compliant? As I said before, I added in text from the slides into the Accessibility window, but when I played it through my screen reader it didn't pick any of it up.

Wow thanks for the quick response. The client has created the
slides with a large Jpeg in the center of the title slide. All of
the "body" slides have a smaller version of the same jpeg at the
top left of the slide. Basically a logo for the presentation
series. The lines and text from the masters are importing the two
jpeg images are not. Is that enough info? I will be happy to send
you a cut down version of the file if that will help. Thanks for

  • Import from Powerpoint to Captivate 1.0

I'm trying to simply automate a series of Power Point slides
in Captivate. My company has a standard slide format that has
footers with clear text on a colured background. Although the slide
content comes in clearly the footers are blurred, the characters
    seemingly merging.
I ideally wanted 800x600 for best web look, but have tried
1024 x768 but the image still appears blurred. I think I have tried
every setting of properties. Any ideas?

Hi steve10150 and welcome to our community
Perhaps an old post from one of our former Adobe Community
Experts will help here. Blurry text from PowerPoint imports is a
    very common complaint.

When importing PPT slides to a movie, can I stretch the slide
to fit the Captivate movie frame? I see nothing in help.
In an existing movie, I import PPT slides but there is a
white edge on the left & right sides of the frame.

    redvic,
It sounds like you have a slight mismatch between the aspect
ratios of your Captivate movie and the PowerPoint presentation. It
strikes me that you could either try 1) using "File > Page
Setup" in PPT to change the aspect ratio of your PPT and then do a
manual capture/import operation into Captivate of the selected
slides, or else 2) if a straight manual capture would not produce a
scalability problem for the slide in Captivate, you could use the
PPT splitter bars to resize the thumbnail image in Normal view to
whatever you need and then manually capture the slide, taking care
to crop the slide top and bottom to get the aspect ratio the way
you need. Hopefully someone else can suggest a more elegant
    solution - good luck!
    redvic 08/02/2005 09:13:57 AM
    Hi,
Thanks, your first suggestion worked! I did not know I could
do a custom-sized PPT slide. I did File > Page Setup and chose
"Custom" for Slides sized for field. Then, I specified the height
and width of the slides based on the size of my existing Captivate
project. For this, I had to convert pixels of the Captivate project
to inches in PPT. I divided the pixels dimensions by 72 and got the
approximate inches. For example, 798x546 in Captivate converted to
    11.1" x 7.6" in PPT.
    redvic 08/02/2005 03:57:09 PM
    Hi,
A caveat to this solution: When I switched to a Custom sized
PPT slide size, PowerPoint automatically adjusted the font sizes,
too. For example, I increased the width of the PPT slide a little
bit and my 24 pt Heading font became 26 pt. Our corporate standard
is 24 pt. So, I had to go into the slides and adjust the font sizes
    back to the corporate standards.
    =========================> End Pasted Text
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Import PowerPoint Slides w/in Small Region of Slide

    Hi-
Is there a way to import PowerPoint slide to only display in a portion of the screen? I'd like to have the PowerPoint slides on about 1/3 of the page, and maintain the content from previous pages to remain in the other 2/3 of the page. Is this possible? If so, how?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thomas

    Hi there
I was thinking that you might accomplish it by starting off with the PowerPoint import to create the project at the smaller size. Then use the ability to resize the project and make it larger, leaving the smaller area in place and surrounding it with new blank area.
    Just thinking out loud... Rick
