Host credential

hi
I need some tips about host credentials. I installed 11g on linux as5. When I run oem and do setting for backup.
It asks to set host credentials. When I go at preferences - preffered credentials and after filling proper username
and password it generate error "connect to dbserver as user sys failed".
However I connect with oem as sysdba with sys user.
how can I set preferred credentials.
regards
rizwan

Hi,
Carry out the following steps.
1. Go to control panel/administrative tools
a. click on "local security policy"
b. click on "local policies"
c. click on "user rights assignments"
d. double click on "log on as a batch job"
e. click on "add" and add the user that was entered in the "normal username" or "privileged username" section of the EM Console.
2. Go to the Preferences link in the EM GUI
a. click on Preferred Credentials (link on the left menu)
b. under "Target Type: Host" click on "set credentials"
c. enter the OS user who has logon as a batch job privilege into the "normal username" and "normal password" fields

  • Host Credential Problem

I try restarting my 10g db. I have given the proper OS and DB credentials but the system still tells me that the host credentials are incorrect. I can't figure it out and it's driving me nuts.
Any insight as to how I can track down a fix?

    hi,
were you able to save your problem. I am also trying providing host credential in OEM by providing OS user name & password of user which I used to login to machine where oracle is running but it says wrong username/password.
    thanks in advance

  • Could not set host credential in EM for my windows vista laptop

I am using Vista and try to use Host Credential in EM, but when I entered my username and password( for operating system), EM always show me wrong username.
I searched from google, some people suggest:
    1. Control Panel, Administrative Tools.
    2. Click on Local Security Policy.
    3. Local Policies, User Rights Assignment.
    4. Double click, 'Log on as a batch job'
But,as you know, Vista does not have a Local Security Policy in Administrative Tools. So anybody know how to set up host credential?
    This made me crazy!
    Thank you for your help!

Thank you! yes, mine is vista home.
Is there any other ways except changing operating system?Unfortunately no, there is no other way. Oracle is not supported to run over Home edition of Vista. As I mentioned before, only 3 out of all the versions of Vista are supported by ORacle to run its software.
There is no workaround mentioned/available for this as the option to do the job for your issue is not available in the Home edition, you can't drive a car which doesn't have steering wheel and wheels , doesn't matter how good mechanic you are ;-) .

  • About Host Credential

I've installed oracle 10g on Windows 2003. For some special tasks oracle requires host credential; Previously I provided correct username and password of the server (Host) but I got a message which was saying the password was not correct for the user though the username and password was correct. I like to mention here that the database server is out of domain in the network.
Please, how can I solve the problem?
Another question: Should I keep the database server with the existing domain in the network for faster performance?

Hi, you must the assign the right polices "Logon as batch job" into Local Security, goto Admistration Tools>Local Security Police>Local Police>User Rights Assigment and find "Log as batch job" and add the Oracle user that you needed for connect. Remember that user must be on DBA Group (ORA_DBA) too.
If you need for information review the Note:398993.1 into Metalink site.
    Luck.
    Have a good day.
    Regards.

  • Steps to activate Host Credential password and username

    Hello People,
Please can any body help me on the steps of activating Host Credentials password and username.
I want to export data from an ms excel file using Load data from user files, but it keep asking for host credential username and password
    regards,
    Kenneth

Go to your database server , not your pc
USERNAME AND PASSWORD -- your database server OS username and password , like Administrator and password.
secpol.msc /s –> Local Security Policy window appear.
Left Side panel ->Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment <– Enter
Right Side Panel -> Log on as a batch job –> here Double Click and Add Administrator User.

  • Host Credential Problem in Oracle 10g on Windows

    Hi,
I have another problem that is really bothering me. I
have tried using Oracle database 10g on Windows XP and
it works fine till you shut down and attempt to
restart (or any administrative task)with the EM. It
asks for the Database and Host credentials but always
rejects the Host credentials. Now because i only have
the Administrator as the OS user, i try to give this
user and it's password and it still doesn't accept
    that.
What could be the problem??? I infact have realized
that this problem is NOT there if i use 10.1.0 on Red
Hat Linux AS 3 because for the host credentials i use
the OS user Oracle and the password (Owner of Oracle
    Installation)and it goes through fine.
In Windows, what should i do to rectify this problem.
Or is it a bug with Oracle on Windows. Or where should
i get the relevant Host credentials Oracle requests on
Windows or should i create a user??? Please
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!
    Austine

That could be the 'Log on as a batch job' problem. See here:

  • Host credential problem on XP Pro

    Hi everybody.
Maybe I'm kicking in open doors here regarding the problem with host credentials in EM, but I think I found something.
As I have read in other posts I added my user account to the "Logon as batch job" in "Local security settings". When I add my user name there it gets registered as [domain]\[user name] since I'm on a domain.
But what I found is that the credentials must be supplied as [domain]\[user name] in EM as well or it won't work (you get the "wrong password for user" error.
Hope it helps someone a least. :)

Yes, very true..if it's a domain user, you will have to specify domain\username

  • Host Credential with indirect login

I am on Unix and we don't have direct log in to the OS, we have log in as our ID and then switch to Oracle. Does anyone have similiar set up like mine?
If yes, then how did you guys set up?
    thanks

Why do you need to use oracle? Why don't you just assign your username the dba and oinstall UNIX group, and just put your info in as the host preferred credentials. Of course you'll need to log into to Grid with your own account too instead of sysman.

  • Host credentials problem in Vista Basic

    Dear All,
I am using Vista basic OS. I have installed Oracle 10g. I have to use import functionality to import the data. In order to use that in enterprise manager,It asks to enter Host credentials. I tried with DBA credentials, It gives invalid password error. I also tried to add ora_dba group, but unfortunately I cann't add in vista basic as it doesn't support adding Local security group snapin. So please help me how and where to add host credential in order to access import functionality in enterprise manager.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sangamesh

    Helllo,
As you already know Vista basic and home premium not supported but you can give a try by going to
First create a user with a password (hope you can do this vista basic)
control panel --> adminstrative tools--> look for local security policy (if it exists in vista basic) --> local policies and search for user assignments--> log on as a batch job , add your new user and apply changes. Then use this new user as host credentials.

This section way at the bottom of the Post Installation tasks should help you:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32006/postcfg.htm#BABFAEIG
Make sure that the OS user that you are setting up for Preferred Credentials has the Log on as a batch job privilege enabled.

Got following error when tried to verify Solaris 10 host.
I have 10gR1 (1.0.3) fresh installation without patch on server 1. Recently I installed 10g R2 agent on a Solaris 10 server 2. The agent can upload data back to the OMS without problem. But after I enter server 2 host credential to verify host connection I got the following error in emoms.log on Sever 1.
"2006-05-31 17:16:49,704 [EMUI_17_05_35_/console/pref/setCredentials$targetType=host] ERROR creds.SetPrefCreds testCreds.1281 - SetPrefCreds.testCreds(): CredsException: Connection to host bcrcxfwwd7p.something.com as user xxxx failed: IOException in sending Request :: Connection timed out"
I can use Secure shell in Solaris to connect to server2 as xxxx directly & do my work.
But somehow I can not verify the host connection from within OEM.
I don't have any problem to use OEM to manage 9 other Solaris 9 hosts and 10g databases. Is Solaris 10 specific problem?
    Any suggestions are welcome
    Mike

Hang on, are you using a 10.1 oms with a 10.2 agent reporting to it?
If so, thats an unsupported configuration.
