Host name mismatch

I have an error message concerning my mail account that prevents my imac from updating or restarting that says I have a host name mismatch. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks.

It's not the 'best' way to fix it. Correct way will be to set up a reverse record with the server name mapping back to the IP address. Marching forward and reverse DNS entries are important.

    And there's also an option to always trust the certificate.

    How do I fix this error message? Safari can't verify the identity of the website ....keeps saying the certificate in invalid.

  • How fix mail security cert name mismatch warning

    Mail is periodically warning about trusting "inbound.att.net" when connecting to "pop.att.yahoo.com".
    It says: "This certificate is not valid (host name mismatch)"
    and it warns that I may be the victim of foul play.
    I have avoided checking the "always trust" box and am trusting as each warning appears.
    (iMac is brand new; have never seen any such message on WindowsXP computer in recent use with same mail account using Thunderbird.)

    You also may want to repost in the Mail and Address Book forum. Click Apple Support Communities then type Snow Leopard and click Refine this list where you will find information on Mail and Address Book. Mail and Address book are part of OS X which is why they are in the Snow Leopard forum.

  • Run Into Problem When Trying Not To Hard Code the Host Name

    My code (using the JavaMail API) works fine when the SMTP host name is hard coded in the program:
           props.put( "mail.smtp.host", "TheHostName" );Then, I tried to put the host name in a properties file (smtpServer.properties). The properties file is in the $TOMCATHOME\webapps\AppName\WEB-INF\classes\resources directory. And the properties file has this one single line:

  • Change MTA Host name

    Hi There,
    I am getting the following bounce back when emailing people from my Exchange 2013 server:
    Remote Server returned ’550 5.7.1 <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>>: Recipient address rejected: Mail appeared to be SPAM or forged. Ask your Mail/DNS-Administrator to correct HELO and DNS MX settings or to get removed
    from DNSBLs; MTA helo: ttlcloudexch04.ttlcloud.local, MTA hostname: remote.ttlhosting.co.uk[131.117.188.187] (helo/hostname mismatch)’
    This is a reverse DNS error because the MTA host name of my Exchange system should be mail.ttlhosting.co.uk not remote.ttlhosting.co.uk
    How can I change this?
    Thanks
    Dave

    There is no requirement that the FQDN on the send connector must match the MX record. If that was the case, most mail flow would fail.
    The important thing is that there is a PTR for the IP of the sending SMTP gateway and you it should have a FQDN n the send connector that matches that.
    If you want to set the send connector to mail.ttlhosting.co.uk, do that following:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998294(v=exchg.150).aspx
    The Fqdn parameter specifies the FQDN used as the source server for connected messaging servers that use the Send connector to receive outgoing messages. The value of this parameter is displayed to connected messaging servers whenever a source server
    name is required, as in the following examples:
    In the EHLO/HELO command when the Send connector communicates with the next hop messaging server
    In the most recent Received header field added to the message by the next hop messaging server after the message leaves the Transport service on a Mailbox server or an Edge server
    During TLS authentication
    The default value of the Fqdn parameter is $null. This means the default FQDN value is the FQDN of the Mailbox server or Edge server that contains the Send connector.

  • Error msg RMAN-05520: database name mismatch when trying to login to RMAN

    I am trying to clone a database on the same server but getting an error message when I try to run the duplicate command.
    command:
    RMAN DB1 -> Rman target sys/oracle@SID1 auxiliary sys/oracle@SID2
    (where DB1->SID1 and DB2->SID2)
    Error:
    RMAN-05520: database name mismatch, auxiliary instance has SID1, command specified SID2
    I used dbca to create the new oracle instance SID2 and checked the entried in the lisntner.ora and tnsnames.ora and they seems to be fine.
    The primary db is in mount mode and the aux database is in nomount mode. I am trying to run this command from the the db session where ORACLE_SID=SID.
    Any help on this would be really helpful.

    Hi,
    RMAN-05520: database name mismatch, auxiliary instance has SID1, command specified SID2The error is very much clear, as you are duplicating the database ,then the db_name must be same.
    I used *bold* dbca to create the new oracle instance SID2*bold*  and checked the entried in the lisntner.ora and tnsnames.ora and they seems to be fine.
    The primary db is in mount mode and the aux database is in nomount mode. I am trying to run this command from the the db session where ORACLE_SID=SID.I don't able to understand, are you duplicating the existing database (or) trying to create new database using dbca on the same host ?
    Sine the dbca is not at all required. I suggest kindly check the process/steps from oracle recovery manager doc.

  • SSLException: Name in certificate "host1" does not match host name "host2"

    Hi all,
    I am using a hosted WebDAV/Subversion service to store my files. The provider has connected my domain name to the service, so now I can access the service through my domain name :-)
    However, the provider cannot assign a static dedicated IP for the server which provides my content, hence he cannot set an SSL certificate for my domain name. Any time I access the service I am getting an SSL warning telling me that the domain name does not match that on the certificate... So far had no problem with that. The Web browser, the Windows Explorer, and the Subversion client allow me to accept the connection.
    Now I need to set up some automatic build software (Maven) and it appears that the JRE has a problem with these name mismatches -- it just throws an exception and does not allow me to accept the connection :-( In order to ensure that this is a JRE problem, I have tried to connect to the service with a Java-based WebDAV client (DAVExplorer) -- same thing -- here is the message thrown by DAVExplorer:
    javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Name in certificate "his.domain.name" does not match host name "my.domain.name"
    Is there some configuration file, system property or switch that I can use to make the JRE ignore the domain name mismatch thing?
    Please help,
    Adrian.

    Here is a quick example I put together. Most of the code was autogenerated by Eclipse "Generate Delegate Methods" on the urlConn field of the class. This is just an example; I haven't given it much thought; it probably opens up other security holes and I take no responsibility for it.
    In my example, I have an SSL server with the name "dawntreader" in the certificate, but my URL is https://192.168.10.7/ which triggers the name mismatch. I have not actually tested it with maven, but looking at these docs (http://maven.apache.org/guides/mini/guide-repository-ssl.html) I think that you should be able to add the following to the MAVEN_OPTS environment variable: -Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=MyHttpsUrlConnection and make sure the MyHttpsUrlConnection.class file is on the classpath

  • How can I get the host name from Email address?

    hi
    When I using socket to develope an email-sending servlet,I don't know how to get the host name from emial address.can you help me,thanks

    Stripping off the user name will give you the domain of from field in the message. This is not the same as the host. Take a look at:
    http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html
    Theres a pretty good discussion about email headers and how to use the information. You probably want to check the information here against the RFC.

    Hello All,
    we have created shared folder on multiple client machine in domain environment on different 2 OS like-XP,Vista, etc.
    from some day's When we facing problem when we are access from host name that shared folder is accessible but same time same computer when we are trying to access the share folder with IP it asking for credentials i have type again and again
    correct credential but unable to access that. If i re-share the folder then we are access it but when we are restarted the system then same problem is occurring.
    I have checked IP,DNS,Gateway and more each & everything is well.
    Pls suggest us.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
    Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
    Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.
    Best Regards,

  • How can I create a host name site collection when I have a 443 web application already created for App model?

    Hi all,
    I have a 2013 farm set up with the App model
    1 web application for path based site collection using host name
    1 web application with SSL (no host name)
    1 web application for mysite
    My business request is that  I need to migrate SSL enabled 2007 content to this farm and use host name site collections.  I tried to create one more web application for this without any luck (the 443 IIS folder is already used by another web application).
    I thought I bind the previous 443 web application with another IP address should be fine.  Seems like the IIS site is taken (https://server name:443) so it will not let me create one more.  How can I solve this problem so I can create the web application
    to host those host name site collections?  Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sally

    Hi Trevor,
    Thanks again for your quick reply.  I try the option 2 right after your post.  I use my front end server name for public URL (https://WFEName:443) and it fails again.  The error message is:
    The directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\443 is already being used by another IIS Web Site.  Choose a different root directory for your new Web application.
    After reading more, I saw mix Hosted Name Site collection and Path-based site collection aren't recommended.  Unfortunately I already have Path-based site collection created with App model web application
    (the web application without host name) in my farm.  In my Option 2, that web application without host name is used for App routing.  This takes the root folder 443 which will not allow any other web application to use the same name again.
    Does that mean we can't create Host Named Site collection in the same farm?  Is there any configuration I need to check?
    Thanks again.

  • HOW TO DEFINE VIRTUAL HOST NAME IN HPIA64 + SAP R/3 ENTERPRISES 4.7

    Hi all,
    I am trying to install sap r/3 enterprises 4.7 with OS as HP-UX and Database as Oracle in a cluster environment.
    In cluster environment sap installation should be done on virtual hostname ( package id ). I'm using the env variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
    My cluster is running and I'm able to ping it from network, but at the time of SAP Installation my sapinst starts with the physical host name not with the virtual host name.
    What can be the solution ..?
    Thanks,
    Chandresh Pranami.

    Hi Chandresh,
    Try executing sapinst with virtual hostname.
    eg. ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
    This should work.

  • Domain name/"primary DNS" name/mail host name/mail server name/mx name

    Hi,
    I have registered my domain name (N.com) with an external dns server and created an MX record (mail.N.com) for it as well. My server sits behind a router and internet traffic is port(80)-forwarded to my server's fixed internal ip address (I can access my webpages from the internet just fine). When I initially setup the server I was asked to give it a "primary DNS name." I naturally assumed that N.com was supposed to be entered here, but that just caused all kinds of problems (though I still do not understand why). So I reinstalled and currently have server.N.com as the primary DNS name of the server (although it shows up in Server Admin and Workgroup Manager as server.local--why is that?)
    I have had no luck getting any email from the internet with the default settings in mail services (domain name of N.com and host name of server.N.com). Having no luck with the defaults, I assumed that maybe I needed to change the host name to "mail.N.com" so that it matched the MX record. I also changed the user preferences in Workgroup Manager to receive mail from mail.N.com--but still no luck. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how come none of the Mail Service literature mentions anything about what a mail "host name" is supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the same as the "Mail Server" name that Workgroup Manager asks each user for? and is it the same as the MX record name?
    I am just needing some help to connect all these variously named, but undefined, dots.
    Also, how come I can access webmail from the internet using www.N.com/webmail but can't do it from any computers within my physical network (I have to use IPaddress/webmail or server.local/webmail)?
    Also, should my user email addresses be [email protected] or [email protected] (which is the current default)?
    Thanks in advance and good luck!
    John

    I had been told by a friend that ... regular email coming in from the internet would go through port 80
    Unfortunately you were misinformed.
    My MX record needs the extra subname (such as "mail") in front of the domain name, right?
    Not at all. A MX record for 'N.com' is entirely valid (expected, in fact).
    An MX record tells remote mail servers where to send mail for any domain/subdomain. If you think about it, let's say you worked for Apple and you wanted people to be able to send email to [email protected], well then you need an MX record for 'apple.com'.
    You can see if you dig MX apple.com that they actually have 9 MX records, but the point still stands.
    Now, you might also have MX records for subdomains so that you can have [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. Each of these subdomains would need a separate MX record.
    So, in general, for any set of email addresses @[anything.]domain.com you have a MX record telling remote mail servers where to send that mail.
    Of course the MX record name is mail.N.com, but I think you are implying that the in the Mail settings of Server Admin where it asks for domain name all I need to put there is the N.com, right?
    What I mean is that you need to set the domain name to whatever domain name you expect to receive mail at.
    If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected], then you enter 'N.com'.
    If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected] then you enter 'mail.N.com'.
    If you want both forms, enter one in the main domain and add the other(s) in the Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases section.
    Is there anything in the Mail settings that needs to have the full MX record name (mail.N.com)?
    Yes. Either the 'domain name' or the 'Local Host Aliases' needs to contain the same thing as your MX record. That's because the MX record tells remote servers to send mail to this machine, but the machine won't accept the mail unless it is configured to do so.
    What is the "host name" supposed to be?
    This should be the name that remote servers see when this machine tries to send outgoing mail.
    Ideally this should match the reverse DNS of your IP address, that way when it connects to a remote server it says "Hi, I'm $hostname" and the remote server can lookup the machine's IP address and see the same result. This will reduce the problem of remote servers thinking you're sending them spam.
    If you only have a single IP address then this probably needs to be something like 'N.com'. If you don't have control over your reverse DNS then you're going to run into a problem.
    Also in the user accounts (in Workgroup Manager) what should the "mail server name" be? Is it the host name or the domain name?
    Off hand, I don't know.
    Also, why are all the default user email addresses [email protected] (the name I gave the server at setup)? Why doesn't the user accounts create [email protected] as the default address?
    Presumably because the mail server says it is 'server.N.com' and therefore any accounts on that machine would be [email protected]. Changing the domain name (as above) should fix that.

    If so this is very poor...!

    Oh and that is "reset the hub"

  • How to resolve a host name from IP using JNDI/DNS service provider

    Hi
    I got two questions on JNDI/DNS service provider:
    1) How to resolve a host name when i got an IP
    I understand How I do it inverse.
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.dns.DnsContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "dns://"+server+"/"+domain);
    DirContext ictx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    Attributes attrs1 = ictx.getAttributes(host, new String[] {"A"});
    2) This example above works when I specify the domain in the provider url.
    If I am not specifing a domain but only the dns server I got an NameNotFoundException.
    What should I do if I don't got the domain?
    get the availible domains and loop on them?

    Hi,
    if your DNS server supports that, you can do a reverse DNS lookup. This works as follows:
    String server = "your.dns.server";
    String domain = "in-addr.arpa";
    String ip = "4.3.2.1";
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.dns.DnsContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "dns://" + server + "/" + domain);
    DirContext ictx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    Attributes attrs1 = ictx.getAttributes(ip, new String[] {"PTR"});1: Use the pseudo-domain in-addr.arpa
    2: Use the reverse IP address for lookup, i.e. if your host has 1.2.3.4, use 4.3.2.1!!
    3: Request the PTR attribute
