Host services and IIS

is there a way in grid control to monitor and start/stop windows services or IIS..
I tried the IIS plug-in.. it was written for an older version of IIS and didnt work.. even if it had worked, I think it is monitor/reporting only and would not be able to bounce the instance..

According to your description, the users and the SQL Server Analysis Service server are not on the same domain, what you want is that let user enable browse the cube data, right?

Thanks for the question. You may need to configure the outgoing mail server for the account. The following resource will outline how to navigate to these settings, however instead of adding a server, you’ll then want to update the settings with your correct username and password:

High CPU usage by Service Host & Services and Controller app

Hi All,
My CPU is running at a consistent 98-99% within moments after booting my machine. I have uploaded a ~30s ETL capture here:

I've been digging around, but I can't seem to find what the cause of this high CPU usage is. It appears to be affecting the explorer service as well as Chrome. CPU usage does NOT go down if I kill all chrome processes however.

According to your screenshot, it seems this is not related a particular service, it just like a memory leak issue.
Can you check the event viewer to see if there is some error record?
Or you can check if this issue happens in Clean Boot mode, this would eliminate software conflict:

How to set same domain name for Azure Storage and Hosted Service

I have a web application running on azure and using azure storage with blob. My application allows to edit html files that are in the azure storage to save with another name and publish them later. I am using javascript to edit the html content that
I display in an Iframe but as the domain of my web application and the html that I try to edit are not the same, I got and this error "Unsafe JavaScript
attempt to access frame with URL "URL1" from frame with URL "URL2". Domains, protocols and ports must match".
I have been doing some research about it and the only way to make it work is to have the web application and the html that I want to access using javascript under the same domain.
So my question is: is it possible to have the same domain name in azure for the hosted service and the storage.
Like this:
hosted service: example.com
storage: example.com
By the way I already customize the domain names so they looks like this:
hosted service <mydomainname>.com
storage <blob.mydomainname>.com
Actually I have my application running in another hosting and I have no problem there since I have a folder where I am storing the files that I am editing so they are in the same domain as the application. I have been thinking in to do the same with Azure,
at least to have a folder where I can store the html file meanwhile I am editing it but I am not sure how much space I have in the hosted service to store temporary files.
let me know if you have a good tip or idea about how to solve this issue.

Though both Azure Blob and Azure applications support custom domain, one domain could have only one DNS record (in this case is CNAME record) at one time. For Steve's case, he has 3 domains, blog.smarx.com, files.blog.smarx.com and cdn.blog.smarx.com.

Automatically Logging out of my web hosting service

I am using my web hosting service with Firefox 3.6.13 and I keep getting automatically logged out of the web hosting service. I contacted tech support for the web hosting service and they said it was a problem with the browser - cookies/settings/etc - I couldn't find any solution. I need to be able to set Firefox so I can stay logged into my web hosting indefinitely. Thank You.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Can I create a form in muse and have it work with a different hosting service?

I contacted a hosting service that I need to upload the site I built in MUSE to. (Hosting has already been purchased). I asked OMNIS:
I want to create a form with Muse and then upload my site to OMNIS, not muse, the forms will display as I designed them, but they will not function. I have someone to help me who is experienced in working with code. I can use Muse to export my site and then open the files in an HTML editor. "Update the source code of the form to make it compatible with the form processing technology used by your hosting provider (OMNIS) before you upload the files to their server." Can you help me with this? Do I need to get a script or something from you?

There's a handy piece of software from CoffeeCup Software called "Web Form Builder". It's pretty affordable and easy to use and it can be hosted on the server of your choice provided that server uses an up-to-date PHP script.
This is what I have been using....but I would rather not have to deal with a third party form builder at all.

OK, then pls follow below steps;
- Go to step 'Create Users' in solman_setup System Preparation scenario and make sure the user SM_INTERN_WS has a green status. Use the 'Test Login' button to make sure the user is not locked and has correct credentials maintained in solman_setup
- Immediately after checking the user status, navigate to Configure Connectivity->Enable Web Services and execute again the 'Create Logical Ports' automatic activity, in order to propagate the correct credentials to the Logical Port definitions.
- If the above operation is not successful, repeat the two steps above, providing a different user Id in 'Create Users' step, eg SM_INTERN_W1. This will prevent situations where the user gets locked by Logical Ports using an obsolete password.
Let me know the results.

Anyone knows why .cfm files would not get indexed by Indexing Service on windows server 2008 and IIS 7.0. This is a coldfusion website using Indexing Service for site search. There are a lot of cfm pages indexed as unknown files. Any clues on how this can be fixed?

You might try editing your registry so that *.cfm, *.cfc, and other ColdFusion related files are treated as text files by the Windows search feature. See link below.

thanks for responding. I read your link, looked at my settings and they were all correct. I tried to do a republish and got this message: The requested URL /childrenandcaring/index.html was not found on this server.
When I type the address in the address bar, I go to the site and the page says: This is the new site childrenandcaring.com
Any other ideas?

Relationship btwn Virtual Host Services for Groups AND WorkGroup manager??

Can someone please explain the relationship between Virtual Host Services (as specified in the Sites section of Server Admin) AND "Enable the following services for this group on ... and the options"?
And where does one go to "create wikis on this site" when one is give the authority to do it in Server Admin > Sites > Services for Groups (Allow the following to create wikis on this site)?*
Finally, why do all my groups seem to show up on all my virtual hosts, even though they are only enabled on a particular site?

I understand that Virtual Sites are web-related Apache settings. So, I guess the "Services for Groups" functionality there-in (Sites > Web Services) is just to indicate that this virtual site can have wikis, calendars, blogs etc.
I also understand what a Group is but I am confused as to how they relate to wikis (especially when the config item (Sites > Web Services again) says "allow the following to create wikis (plural) on this site" - my emphasis).
Is it saying that from all the users/groups only the following users/groups can turn on a wiki which will run on this virtual site? For me it sounded like a user/grous could create multiple wikis. So I would like to know if wikis are one-to-one with users/groups?

Host number in IIS and connector path

Hello.
I have two question:
1. Is there a way to determine in script the host number (in
IIS metabase) in which this script executes.
2. Is there a way to determine connector path and the binary

There is no "correct solution". There are various options
that may be
more or less suited for your requirements. You can have:
- two servers share an IP address (see Network Load Balancing

Windows documentation);
- two servers behind a load-balancer that distributes the

ColdFusion clustering has nothing to do with the problem you
are facing.
You have a network / DNS / IIS / Windows question and CF is
not relevant
for it. For solving this issue, forget that you have CF and

NOT WORKING - Tomcat 4.0.5 and IIS 5

I'm trying to set up Tomcat to work with IIS 5 on windows 2000 server.
I got everything working fine locally. I deployed my app and it's working fine on localhost:8080. Now I want to be able to see it from the outside and some files that I try to view from my domain come up with the actual source code.
I ran with several tutorials that keep saying "Hey, you did it...it's was so easy wasn't it?" and they don't say anything when it all goes wrong. No one goes the extra step to help out when these easy instructions do nothing. I'm looking at this for far too long now and I'm losing my mind slowly.
I have IIS running and restarted it with jakarta virtual directory that has a green arrow up. But localhost doesn't find the pages. So I'm not sure what could be wrong.
I'm having a lot of trouble with the workers.properties file. If anyone could help me with that it would be great. The uriworkmap seems to be quite simple, and goes the same way as the web.xml server uri-mapping. But I'm not sure what could be wrong.
I also tried to get tomcat to service jsp files and IIS everything else, but still nothing.

Well, something was wrong with my configurations of the registry amongst other things. Now I have everything in place and I played with the workers.prop file. However, it still doesn't work. I get the following in the isapi_redirect.log file:

(Deployment) Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer

We have a simple .Net SDK application written using VB-2005 and the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package.
The RPT files are posted on our BOE-XI (R2) server, and are called using the View-On-Demand method from the Page Server (similar to the SDK sample application). At some point in the future, our .Net applications may invoke some of the other SDK content types.
In our environment, the .NET web-applications are checked-in to Clear Case, and then sent to a stand-alone BUILD server to be compiled. The compiled .NET web-applications are then posted to a stand-alone IIS WebServer (not the IIS server that hosts BOE InfoView/CMC).
The BUILD server and IIS WebServer have to be as "stripped-down" as possible in order to go through our QAT and Impact Analysis process.
So far we have had success if we deploy the SDK-only install from the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package, and the service packs, but it doesn't include all the SDK components for other BOE content types.
If we deploy the Client-only install from the BOE-XI (R2) package, and the service packs - it doesn't seem to include the CR-Viewer which we need. But it does includes a bunch of extra software (eg. UNIVERSE DESIGNER) on the desktop of the BUILD server and IIS WebServer that our QA guys don't like.
What are the Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer to support CR and BOE SDKs...?
Are there any install packages that contain JUST those components, and not all the extra software that is not needed to Build/Deploy in .NET...?

Due to the CrystalDecisions.web.dll for the 2.0 framework being left off the BOE CD you will need to install the Crystal XI R2 runtimes as well as the BOE SDK.
To get the BOE SDK launch the Enterprise XI R2 installer and choose Server Install - not Client Install. Choose a Custom install. You'll be presented with a drop down list for the Enterprise components. Deselect everything and then look for the Developer Components option. You may have to drill down into one of the levels to find it. Under Developer Components you'll see the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK. Select it to install it.

Unable to delete a SharePoint 2010 My Sites content Database and IIS Web Site even after changing timeout

I am currently having issues with deleting a content database for mysites which has web application http://<servername>:11100. The database was migrated from sharepoint 2010, but on creating web app it timed out (was corrupt due to this). Problem
is I cannot delete now as I get "Request Timed Out". Even when I try just deleting the Web App or the Content Database individually. I have already updated the timeout on the Central Admin App Pool to 300. This used to work, but no joy now. Seems
like ever since I added this My Sites Web App I am getting this problem.
The setup is 1 Database Server (64GB), 1 Admin Server (24GB) and 3 WFE Servers (12GB each) - all VMS. System is also running PowerPivot. Central Admin is running on a WFE server. Is this setup OK for just one user? Reason I have 3 WFE is this already existed
and App Servers will be scaled out when we start testing. Running 11 Web Applications.
Help appreciated - any ideas?

OH - I tried to delete with powershell and it tells me it requires SHarePoint Administration Service to be running, but the problem is it is already running on the WFE with Central Admin on.

The timeout may cause this issue. But would you let me know the error message when we delete the database?
However, you can delete the web application(my site host) and click delete database and IIS web site option.
Also, you can try to clean cache and check if issue persists:
Please stop SharePoint Timer Service.
Please navigate to the cache.ini file location:
Delete all the .xml file and only leave cache.ini in the file location.
Edit the Cache.ini file and set it to 1.
Save the Cache.ini file
  Start SharePoint Timer Service. The cache file will be created autumnally.
