  • Flash Lite on Windows CE 5 (or 6)  Devices?

    Hi,
Does anyone have information about Flash Lite (2.1 or 3)
running on Windows 5/6 CE? I tried to contact adobe about licenses
and it seems to us they don't bother when we are not a huge company
putting millions of devices on the market.
We aim to have only 10 - 50.000 devices on the market. We
have been using a "home made" UI framework, it does the trick, but
it's not as flexible as Flash Lite would be. Also it would be much
easier to find people who are able to code using ActionScript (for
    the UI).
We also made some tests with Flash 7 (for Pocket PC) and it
worked fine, the problem was performance... it was ~12 times slower
in the ARM hardware in comparison to a X86 with the same CPU Speed
    ( ~500Mhz).
Does any one could help me on that?
    Cheers

Today I installed Flash Lite 2.1 on my Asus M530W

  • Flash Lite 2.1 error on Windows Mobile

Haven't been able to find much info on this error when using Flash Lite 2.1 in either IE Mobile or Opera Mobile:
"flash lite 2.1 for windows mobile 5 will support flash 7 content authored for mobile devices only"
I'm using CS5 and publishing the SWF as Flash Lite 2.1 with Action Script 2.0. When I run it through the Device Central emulator I get this output:
Flash version of "lite2_player.swf" is Flash Lite 2.x
    Dimensions of "lite2_player.swf" are 240 x 200 px
Is there something else I need to do to make sure the swf is "authored for mobile devices"?

    Alessandro,
Yes, I see now another Flash Lite 2.1 player installed not
under media but under menu. Starting it allows me to browse my
Flash Lite 2.1 files and they display fine.
Next up, I must try to get Flash Lite 3, but developer
    applications for Flash Lite 3
have closed afaik. Does anybody know where/when/if/how a
Symbian edition Flash Lite 3 player can be got to test on a Flash
    Lite 2.1 player phone?
    thanks again!

To use Flash Lite 2.1 for Windows Mobile 5.0 you will have
to first download the appropriate .CAB file for your device
(Smartphone or Pocket PC) and then install it. After installing the
Flash Lite 2.1 player you will have to activate your player for
your device. Follow these steps to get started.
Installing the player on your device:-
    · Download the .CAB file for your device.
    · Connect your device to your computer via ActiveSync.
    · Copy the .CAB file to your “My Documents”
    folder.
    · Disconnect your device.
    · On your device go to File Manager > My Documents.
    · Select the FlashLite.CAB file and follow the install
    instructions.
    Activating your player:-
Before you can use the Flash Lite 2.1 Player on your device
you will have to activate it. Each installation of the player
requires you to activate the player using the unique device id
    (IMEI number) of your device.
    · On your device go to File Manager > Program Files
    > Adobe > Flash Lite and launch the standalone player,
saplaywm.exe. This will show up a registration information dialog.
    · Open up the File Manager->Program Files > Adobe
    > Flash Lite->License.txt.
    · Write down the 40 digit alphanumeric string and go to
    the URL provided.
    · On the registration site enter your 40 digit
alphanumeric string to activate your player.
    · Your Flash Lite 2.1 Player will be activated.

  • Flash lite 2.1 player  for window mobile 6.0 or 6.1

Is the Flash Lite 2.1 player available for window mobile 6.0
or 6.1? If it is so, where can I download ?

    Hi Jerry,
There is a FL2.1 player for WM 5 devices
    available
here. Note this is for playing back SWF files outside of the
browser - it's not a browser plug-in for Pocket IE.
We have not tested this on any WM6 or 6.1 devices so it's not
possible for me to say if it will work or not.

  • Flash lite 3.1 not available for windows device?

Hi! Can anybody help me here?
I've been developing stand alone flash apps for windows mobiles with flash lite 2.1 with no problems!
The company I'm developing for has switched to Vodafone V1520's (Asus p550) running windows mobile 6 Professional.
I've ran flash lite 2.1 with no problems on the device. I've decided to upgrade to 3.1 as it's a fresh install for all 2000 units.
My problem is, When I install the app using Adobe mobile packager, the device comes back with the error " Adobe flash lite is not available for this device"!! I know flash lite 2.1 works.
Is there a way to manually install 3.1 on the device?

You can download the player at the following URL:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/distributableplayer.html
Please be aware that you need to use the Mobile Packager to use this version of the runtime for applications.  It's also worth pointing out that your device should be compatible, we do not recommend installing it on unsupported devices.
We have a new version of the packager 1.1 here:

  • How do I install Flash Lite 3.1 to a Windows Mobile Device in Australia

    Hi All,
I am just an end user not a developer. We have a mixture of devices (Palm Treo Pro, HTC Touch HD) that we want to run a Fash Version 8 website. How do we install Flash Lite OTA on these devices to view the flash content?
    We are in Australia.
    thanks

I had some success installing on a real Mobile 5 device [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5344195]
There is a link to a doc on the main download page, item 5 under How to Install. [http://java.sun.com/javame/downloads/sdk30ea.jsp] I used this for the real device, Treo 700w. Did not try it with an emulator.
The support looks to be an emulator rather than a JVM per say. But then again I could be wrong on that. I too had poked around looking for a JVM, CrEme, J9, etc..
I do have a commercial app installed on the Treo that uses IBM's J9, which is seems requires a contact with a sales person to get ahold of. I had hoped to find something that might clue me in on how to "hook up" my own J2ME app with the J9 installed by the commercial package. But I've pretty much decided to get a real J2ME handset rather than continue to waste my time hacking up something with WM. Now the question is which one makes a good reference platform?

  • Flash-GPS on Windows Mobile

    Hi All --
I would like to develop a location aware Flash application
for Pocket PCs that are equipped with a GPS receiver. I need a way
to read GPS data into Flash. When I inquired about this a year or
two ago, I was advised to look a the documentation regarding the
"Invisible Ideas Project" article in the Macromedia developer
center. The article is about a project that took place in 2002 in
which the developer wrote a C++ gateway application that would read
the GPS data from a device COM port, package it as XML and provide
    it to Flash.
Since I am not a C++ developer, I was wondering whether
someone has come up with a driver or utility that would do the same
thing. Better yet, with a brand new version of Flash being
released, I wonder whether Adobe will be integrating this
capability into Flash for the Pocket PC.
One thing that has changed since 2002 is that Windows Mobile
5.0 includes an API call to return GPS data, so the new function
can be called instead of having to open and read data from a COM
    port.
So, does anyone know of any new functionality to read GPS
data for Flash? Are there any third-party tools to do this? Would
anybody like to write a GPS driver for Flash on the Pocket PC?
    Best Regards,
    -- Phil

You could consider using .NET Compact Framework and develop
    it in like
C# or Visual Basic. InTheHand.NET comes with a nice Bluetooth
    Framework
for both Win32 and Windows Mobile devices.
Only this requires that you have installed Flash Lite or
    Player and the
.NET Compact Framework Runtime installed on the device. I.e.
    you could
write a projector projector which host the ActiveX control of
    the Flash
Player and communicate via fscommand2() or sockets etc.
Or you go the daemon like way...

  • [Apps] Name Card Application developed using Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Lite

An University student currently undergoing his research
project had developed this application in order to help him with
his research project. Please kindly try the application and take
the survey form provided at the bottom of this message.
This application allows you to store name card details. The
application compromise of both PC (Windows / Mac) and a mobile
phone component. Users will be entering the name cards information
using the PC component and he will be sending it to the phone. The
phone component will read the data created by the user and display
    it accordingly.
This application requires Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Lite to
    work.

  • How to use Flash Lite 2.1 as ActiveX component in WM application

How to embed Flash lite 2.1 as an ActiveX component in
    Windows Mobile application(in C#)?
From where can i include the supporting flash lite 2.1 dll's.
    Thanks in advance.
    Waiting for your reply.

I'm having a similar (or the same) problem: I want to embed a
flash lite (2.0) as an ActiveX component into Windows Mobile. I'm
using Visual Studio 2005 (VC). For the desktop it works pretty
well, but for the mobile emulator, the flash component shows no
    video. No errors are thrown.
could you solve your problem, kts_82?
    Thank you.

  • Serious bugs in Flash Lite 2.1

I've noticed some pretty serious problems when when working
with Flash Lite 2.1 on on a device, on a device simulator, and on
the Flash 8 emulator. There were no Object watches or any other
kind of behind-the-scenes mayhem when I found these bugs. Here's
just a small list of issues that have gone wrong (among other
    things):
    1. The Number data type is flaky at best. When doing a
trace() on a variable of type Number, the value will change from
signed to unsigned depending on what was done with the variable
even if the actual contents haven't changed. For example I tried
doing a bitwise OR on a Number that had 0xFFFFFFFF in it, and the
interpretation switched from unsigned to signed.
    2. It seems that when I do an add 0 to a _y member of one of
my MovieClips the contents of my movie EXPAND AND SKEW to extreme
extents. I don't even know how this is possible, because nowhere in
my application do I modify _width/_height, or any scale property
values of ANY MovieClip objects (only read them).
    3. When testing my app on a device (LG VX8000), Flash Lite
began IGNORING certain core language operations (adding / creating
an empty movie clip / etc..) RANDOMLY if I start mashing keys fast
enough (happens sometimes even if I don't mash keys).... operations
which work 100% of the time in the Flash 8 device emulator both
with a low and high FPS rate.
    4. When retrieving _y and _height properties of a MovieClip,
in certain places these properties were INTERCHANGED WITH EACH
OTHER if I didn't add trace() calls to print their values before
hand. Taking out the trace() calls caused the values to continue
    being swapped.
These are pretty serious issues that are making my app
unstable all around. My application is entirely based on the basics
of ActionScript 2.0. I can assure people reading this that the
problems are not because of bugs within my application. Has anyone
come across any of these problems before? Can anyone at Adobe
    provide information or workarounds/support.
It's a shame to see such huge bugs in the Flash Lite
    VM.

    Hello,
I'm the PM for Flash Lite, and thank you for your interest in
    our products.
Let me clarify the purpose of the Windows Mobile 5 release of
Flash Lite. As you are aware, we license Flash Lite to our OEM
customers so that they may integrate Flash Lite into their mobile
phones. Flash 7 SDK is not targeted at regular mobile phones - just
    the pocketPC.
There are differences between Flash Lite and Flash Player 7
in that FP7 supports video and Flash Lite 2.1 does not. this is the
most fundamental difference between the two.
If you are building content that you expect will run not only
on PocketPC, but other mobile phones as well, then FL2.1 for WM5 is
a good starting place to test and try out your content because when
OEMs ship phones with Flash Lite 2.1 already preinstalled, your
    content is "good to go".
Flash Lite 2.1 authoring is supported as an "add on" to the
Flash 8 authoring tool. Please check out our Flash 8 tool section
    on Adobe.com here
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/
    - select the Flash Lite 2.1 for Flash Professional 8.
You will need to use Flash 8 authoring with update for Flash
Lite 2.1 to create/author your content.
CDK = Content Development Kit - contains tips, samples etc.
Flash Player 7 SDK - this is a kit not for developers, but
for companies that may want to embed Flash Player 7 into their
devices such as set top boxes or game consoles. We give these
customers source code of the Flash 7 player.
The Flash Player 7 for PocketPC will play back Flash 7 and
    prior versions of Flash content.
I would encourage you to read up on more of our online
resources and as you get more familiar with Flash, you will
definitely see that it is a very compelling application development
platform and join the thousands of other flash developers.
    best regards,
    Vinay

  • SharePoint Online - Provider hosted App - Deployed in on-premise environment

    Hi
We are evaluating SharePoint online and wanted to know if the following is possible? If yes, can anyone share his/her experience and issues faced?
We want to deploy a provider-hosted app to a on-premise environment. This app will need to connect to SharePoint online. What are the requirements from hosting perspective for the on-premise server? Does the server require anything specific so that it is
able to connect to SPOnline? Should it be outside the corporate firewall?
What is the difference between SharePoint online standard and dedicated plans, in the context of Provider hosted app. Are there limitations with respect to what can & cannot be done in a Provider hosted app in these environments?
How do I know if am using a SharePoint online standard or a dedicated plan? Where to look for?
I have seen few articles where the provider hosted app is deployed to windows azure and is connecting to SharePoint online. However this is not the case with us (i.e. we do not have windows azure for now)
