Hosting renewal failure

I am a residential user and use BTdomains for my own domain name registration,  This has been no problem and have renewed and paid without issues for several years.  I also have a website, hosted through BTdomains using the "home starter" package and have renewed without problems for a fixed fee. Despite not having updated the website for the past 3-4 years, I wish tio keep it going.
However, I have hit a BT problem merry go round.
Following their reminder to renew.  I go to the btdomains webiste as instructed tick the box to renew hosting, fill in all the card details and place the order - only to get a reply Invalid address city is required. I retype my "city" as my postal town and it still fails with teh same injunction.
This looks very much like a default indicator that the service is actually no longer availalble but if so why does it not say this explicitly and as BT have actually invited me to renew will they not let me pay as I have done on several previous occassions????
I have raised a query via email - to which the BT reply is sorry we do not provide telephone support ( WHICH WAS NOT WHAT I NEEDED OR WANTED).  48 hours ago, a second attempt to get a more constructive (email) reply evoked the response sorry we do not provide telephone support but we will ask our technicians to check the renewal page in case there is a problem.  I have checked again this am and again it fails so either their technicians have not found the problem or they have not looked at it yet
When I query this through BT help, I also seem to be pointed in the direction of the BT business webiste which talks about domains and hosting for business users at substantially higher monthly fees but has nothing about residentail users.
So here I am on the BT Care forum, can anybody please  help point me to the right place in the morass of BT help/customer care etc. Do others use BT hosting and have they had problesm renewing?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

As it turns out this was a software glitch at BT renewals - the payment form address boxes were not functioning correctly but it took more than a few days for the problem to be addressed by BT IT.
It also transpired that I had to communicate with BT Support using my underlying BT address and not my personal domain address which I had set as a default for outgoing Outlook email (hence the "we cannot provide telephone support "nature of their initial replies?)
A simple problem turned into a frustrating and aggravating saga because it is difficult to find the right BT person to talk to - but all sorted now and I have renewed the hosting.

  • New Safari Has continual Webkit Plug-in Host [151] failures

Since I applied the latest Safari and Security update on or about 28/7/10 I have had continual "Webkit Plug-in Host [151] failures" when navigating the net. However, on our IMAC which I haven't applied the latest update, it is running perfectly. We also lost our anti-virus software ability to load at the same time (iAntiVirus).
Does anyone know what is going wrong? How can I fix it?
    Cheers,

HI Rod and welcome to Apple Discussions...
We also lost our anti-virus software ability to load at the same time (iAntiVirus).
That could be the problem right there.
Which vendor a/v software is this?
Read here about the security, a/v, and malware protection in Snow Leopard.

Running a/v software with Snow Leopard is redundant.

  • Best practice configuration for SQL 2014 to achieve HA when hosted on Hyper-V 2012R2 cluster

    Hi,
I've had a hunt around but so far I've not found a conclusive answer to my question.  I am currently moving from a SQL 2008R2 (physical tin) failover cluster to a virtual environment build on Hyper-V 2012R2.  I am building everything with SQL 2014
    SP1.
I want to achieve the same level of high availability that I currently have and at the same time make sure that I can replicate (DR) data offsite (Azure) in the future.  I have two options with SQL which are clustered instance (basically the same as
I have now) or AlwaysOn Availability Groups for database level HA.
I am unsure which is the best method to use when the SQL nodes are highly available guests on Hyper-V, trying to imagine how the guests will all move around in the case of a host server failure is a bit mind boggling to say the least.
I am leaning towards a instance failover but I would appreciate any input/advice etc.
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
To start with I will not be installing SQL Server 2014 with SP1, as SP1 has bugs and Microsoft has disabled its download. See reference: http://www.eweek.com/database/microsoft-halts-sql-server-2014-sp1-downloads.html
With regards, I would go for AlwaysOn Availability Groups configuration, because it has several benefits:
You will get same amount of high availability you normally get with native cluster configuration, if you use AlwaysOn configuration. However, AlwaysOn configuration provides more granular high availability, and fail-over are invisible to the application,
if you using Availability Group listener to connect to server.
You can offload read-only workloads to secondary replica.
You can perform transaction log backups on secondary replica.
Reduce production downtime during patching or other planned work on the server.
So in short, you should use AlwaysOn configuration.

  • Unable to read WSDL from URL

This is my first web service. I thought I read that the
service registers itself when first run, but it's just not jumping
for me. I'd try registering it, but I'm not sure how to fill in all
the blanks in the CF Administrator's Register Web Service form.
I believe I'm doing this pretty plain and simple. Any ideas
why this won't work? Tried both methods, both give the same error
-- "Unable to read WSDL from URL"
    Calling URL:
    http://prod.trollsoftware.com/echotest.cfm

    RLS

I found this wonderful forum post
    {HERE}">http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadid=881689[/S
and have been tyring to get it to run without removing the "/"
mapping in case that would "break" something on my production
server. I've tried hard to get Approach #2 to work as listed in
that item, but to no avail. I can almost always see the XML code,
but CF never wants to find it as an object reference.
To answer your questions -- and thank you for your help on
    this! --
    1. Yes. I can see the XML code just fine.
    2. No. I get unknown host, connection failure, status not
    available.
    3. Doesn't work with IP, but that was expected as there are
many domains on this server, not just this one.
So, to continue, I thought I'd back up and try it on my CF7
server. The program runs from here [
    http://www.saphea.com/echotest.cfm
against the WSDL/CFC file here [
    http://components.findaportal.com/wsdl/trollws.cfc?wsdl
I can see the XML file just fine, but the echotest does not work
    (code attached).
    I created a mapping of "/wsdl" to
"d:\clients\components\wsdl" in trying to emulate Approach #2, and
    created a web subdomain of
    http://components.findaportal.com
to "d:\clients\components", but no dice. Approach #2 may have to be
    abandoned.
Why would it work for you and not me? That's the weird part.

  • Cisco UCS Blades and vSphere DPM

    I followed this guide:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8582
And it worked, but I have 2 problems.
    1) The blade being put into Standby starts back up immediately - almost like a reboot -
and doesn't stay in Standby mode
    2) The Blade being put into Standby mode has Faults on all vFabric's etc because it is
    "off"
    Any suggestions?
    Jim

    Hi Rob and Jim,
How did you guys progress with this one?  I am having the same issue and be interested to know the solution.
My environment is vSphere 5.0 with B230 M2 and DPM is not yet enabled.  UCS Manager and CIMC are running 2.0(1s).
On testing for Standby from the vSphere client, the blade reboots automatically (no power down).  A shutdown command gives the same result (which is a reboot) with a host connection failure alert.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Could setup VPN but could not connect to the server behind Windows

    Hello,
Server 1 and Server 2 are directly connect with cable. Server 1 has 2 NIC.
I want to configure the following network, already have done most of the steps.
Install the Role “Network Policy and Access Services. My
router is configured to assign ip to NIC1 and Linux server. I enabled IP forwarding in Win server from registry. My clients are able to connect to
VPN ->  and ping Server 1. But they are unable to ping Server 2 through VPN. But
I am able to ping Server 2 directly from Server 1. Are Server 1 and Server 2 not in same LAN ? Should not outside users be able to ping Server 2 after successful VPN connect  ?
    Please help with conceptual errors.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that VPN client failed to ping internal devices after connecting to VPN server.
Ping command is used to detect network or host communication failures and troubleshoot common TCP/IP connectivity problems by sending ICMP echo request messages and record the receipt of ICMP echo reply messages. Turn off firewalls and protection software(if
any) and then try to ping again. And, ping IP address instead of name.
You have mentioned “enabled IP forwarding in Win server from registry”, since you have installed RRAS on VPN server, if you want the remote access clients to have access to resources on the intranet, I recommend you to enable NAT on VPN server.
Besides, according to the picture, 2 NICs of VPN server and the Linux server are on the same sub network. In general, NIC 2 connects to internal network and NIC1 connect to external network. I recommend you to reference the link below for

  • Highly Available WAS 6.40

    Hi,
I am looking at building EP6 SP4 when it arrives, on WAS 6.40 to provide a highly available solution for portals.
I'm sure I have seen somewhere on SMP that the tricky single point of failure in WAS are the message server and enque server in central services. I assume this to mean that in order to protect a stateful J2EE app (EP6) I dont need to be that concerned about failure of a central instance - other than the ENQ and MS services.
The EP6/NW04 dox talk a lot about protecting the ENQ and MS, but I have yet to (re)discover relevant configuration dox on how to actually implement a highly available ENQ and MS.
Could anyone point me in the right (Service Market Place?) direction?
    Thanks.

    Hi Stuart,
yes, you are right - the message and enqueue servers are SPOF in a Web AS cluster. Add the DB to that. So, the real HA cluster can be achieved using Switchover software (protects your cluster also against host machine failure, network adapter failure, etc.)
The docs you are looking for are located here: http://service.sap.com/ha -> Media Library -> Documentation -> HA Documentation and Switchover. In BC SAP High Availability 6.40 document under HA DOcumentation you can find general considerations about using switchover (how it works in general, how it protects your cluster, etc.)
Under Switchover you can find the SAP Web AS in Switchover Environments (6.30) document that discuss in more detail what you need to do to setup the HA cluster.
However, protecting the central services and the DB means that your cluster will stay operational and in sync. This does not provide state preservation of stateful applications. If you need to preserve any state for your J2EE applications, consider using failover. For more info, see those pages in the documentation:

  • What is the difference with 1 Lync Standard Edition using VMware Fault Tolerant and 2 Lync Enterprise Edition in a cluster

    Hi
As I will be planning to setup Lync on a virtual environment regardless if it is going to be the Standard or Enterprise edition.
I am thinking if we use 1 Lync Standard Edition for the FE Server with Fault Tolerance enabled, would it be as good as having 2 Lync Enterprise Edition in a cluster?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
the main difference between using Lync enterprise and lync standard is the High availability and scalability feature,
you will get fault tolrance setup with one lync standard edition running on whatever hyper-v and vmware platform, however this will not be an optimum highly available solution for the simple reason that upon a host server failure the image will move
to another available host server and users will lose their active session durin the move process.
on the other hand what you will gain if you the Enterprise edition is that you will have a unique identity to which all lync clients will be connecting and this identity is the lync pool identity which is in the background handled with multiple Front-End
servers and AV conferencing pools, mediation pools and so on.
In additioin when you have multiple front-ends in place, those front-ends will not work in active/passive mode as in a regular cluster, in contrairy all the servers will be active and handeling the work load.
hope i make it a bit clear, if yiu need more info i am ready

Thanks for the response, being a small environment of 300 users, standard edition would be more than enough for me but the fact for HA is very critical for me at this stage. That is why I am exploring the option of using VMware FT.
I don't quick get what you mean on the users having to move to another image as my understanding of FT is in the event of a host failure (not VM failure like bluescreen etc), the VM will fail over to another host with no lost in any ping etc.
So, in theory, the Lync Server VM would never know that the parent ESX host had failed and it needed to failover to another host. Hope my understanding is correct.
    Thanks

  • RD Connection Broker Farm help!

    Hi All,
Let me first explain what I have and what I'm trying to achieve.
I have 1x Microsoft RD Connection Broker Server
I also have 2x Microsoft Remote Desktop Session Host servers (one primary and one secondary)
I then have a Kemp hardware loadbalancer which contains the IPs of the Session Host servers
I have configured an RD Connection broker farm that includes the two aforementioned Session Host servers.
The plan is for clients to connect into the Session Host servers via the Kemp loadbalancer's virtual IP.  As the Session Host servers are part of the RD Connection Broker Farm on the RD Connection broker sever I want there to be continuity for user
sessions in the event of a primary Session Host server failure.  The problem is that this is not happening!
To test I am logging into a user session on Session Host Server1 (I get server1 as I have weighted the real server IP on the Kemp device so it will always connect here unless it is down).  I then simulate a Server1 failure (pulling power).  The
session crashes and I start a new session.  The Kemp device does its job and directs me to Server2.  All good so far.  However once I put in the users login details I get the 'Server cannot be found' error.  So the connection broker is
kicking in as its trying to connect me to the existing session but on the wrong server! It is trying to reconnect me to the failed server.  Does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
Yeah, the scenario which you need is working. You can consider following points for connection broker.
Your session will only be redirected to a different RD Session Host when one the following conditions are true:
    1. You have an existing session on a RD Session Host server that is not the RD Session Host server your initial load balancing mechanism sends you to.
    2. You do not have an existing session on a RD Session Host server, you have RD Connection Broker load balancing enabled and the RD Session Host Server that you initially connect to is not the RD Session Host server with the least load (as decided by the
    RD Connection Broker).
    More information.
