Hosting sites

A month ago my company stopped hosting our own DNS and hosting our website. Both services went to a local company. We are trying to figure out a few minor details. One being that we still are trying to maintain a portion of the wesite so we can make the changes to it as needed (multiple times a week at times). The other issue is that we cannot see our new website internally. Do I need to add a DNS entry to point to their server?, and how can I manage the web hosting portion of the Server to allow me to control portions of a website that I do not hold on my server? I think it has to do with redirects and such, but nothing is seeming to work.

That depends on how your internal clients are
resolving DNS.
If you have your own internal DNS server then you
need to update that server to reflect the IP address
of your host's server. It probably still points to
the internal IP address, before you moved it
offsite.
created a www entry in the DNS and that seems to be helping, just hope it does not conflict with the redirects coming from the web host regarding the split website.

Isn't that a question you should be asking your web
host?
I have and they have yet to respond. Was hoping to get an insight to the issue early here. Might be an odd circumstance as to why split up a website to begin with.

Creative Cloud Membership has reached its limit for hosted sites

I have had a paid Adobe Muse Creative Cloud membership for about 2 years now, and only used one website. I understand I can host up to 5. But for some reason when I try to launch a new site, I am told my membership has reached its limit for hosted sites. Can someone please tell me if I have some test pages I'm hosting (or something) and how I can erase them so I can make room for my new site. These are only personal sites so I do not need a business catalyst url for testing. I have the two domains active now and just need to be able to have both go live.

I checked your subscription details, and it looks like you're subscribed to Adobe Muse single app subscription, and not Creative Cloud subscription. When you sign up for Muse single app subscription (yearly), you get one free site to host with Business Catalyst. You only get 5 sites when you have a full Creative cloud subscription.

Why am I getting a "Adobe Creative Cloud Membership has reached its limit for hosted sites" message?

I just tried to push my FIRST "free" Creative Cloud site live and got the message "Your Adobe Creative Cloud Membership has reached its limit for hosted sites. To push this site live you will need to purchase an additional hosting plan." I thought CC membership was supposed to give you 5 free hosted web basics sites?
I am a premium BC partner and so far have my partner site and a paid Webcommerce site . In addition to the site I'm trying to put live I have 2 other trial sites (think they are designated as WebMarketing sites) of which one is expired. So where does the limit come in as this is so far my only WebBasics site?
Please help as I need this live urgently (without additional expense).

Living in Brasil can I publish my iWeb site on a foreign hosting site?

I have a web site developed with iWeb and presently published in a hosting site in Brasil, but I am unhappy with such hosting site for several reasons, the main one is that it doesn't "speak" iWeb and Apple language, making almost impossible to update my site, but also, their cost and Customer Services aren't good.
Mobileme ends today and iCloud won't host iWeb sites, so I wonder if other, iWeb friendly sites, not located in Brasil, or even Brazilian ones, would host my site?

You can host your website with a host from any country. The only thing you may run into may be the added cost of telephone support. Most of the larger webhosts also provide pretty good instant chat or email support. I have not actually had to call my current webhost for any of the minor issues I have ran into. They have been able to solve my issues within quick order via intant chat or email.
I have been using IX Webhosting for several years now with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across.

How to access my five free hosted sites?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
          com.something.daemon.plist
and
           com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
          com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
Open this folder:
/Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
           something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
Finally, in this folder:
/System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
            v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
          Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
          Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.

Any recommendations for a hosting site and photo album software?

I'm looking for a hosting site that doesn't cost too much. All I want is the ability for someone to upload images (perhaps sometimes large) to a site that I can download and edit, then re-upload. No. Just wondering if that was what you were referring to. It seem like software you run on your own server. There are a number of sites out there that you can upload your photos to and share with others, no special software needed. http://www.flickr.com/ is one of them. Just do a Google search and you should find a bunch of possible candidates. I use iDisk for my photo sharing.

Problems with certain text appearing once exported as HTML on my third party hosting site

I am experiencing problems with how certain text is appearing on my website www.pplmedia.com/speakers.
Most of the text is appearing how I want it to once I have exported it out of Muse, but for a reason I can not rectify, certain text is coming out as plain Arial Black text, in a bigger font and the text boxes move slightly. If you go onto the page www.pplmedia.com/jock-wishart you will see what I mean.
I have taken the text out of Muse, put it into the program 'TextEdit', I changed the text from rich to plain, put the text back into Muse and the problem still remains.
I have also published the site as a trial in BC and the text is how it should be, so I assume this is an issue with third party hosting I am using?
If someone can get back to me to offer any help or suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

currently i just subscribe to a web hosting site and i need to start the private tomcat in the web server..
The followings are the instructions and i have follow them but i do not know how to create a web.xml file to store in the folder indicated for example a HelloServlet that im testing :
To setup servlet, you need to configure servlet into the file web.xml which needs to be placed in /var/www/html/WEB-INF directory.
www root directory or webapps:/var/www/htm
Classes directory located in: /var/www/html/WEB-INF/Classes/
There you will need to upload your Java class file.
Our default url-mapping for servlet is: /servlet/*
To check servlet in your browser: www.mydomain.net/servlet/HelloWorld
Jsp Files - Upload anywhere in /var/www/html
all the above steps are follow except the web.xml file which i suppose to write and store in the folder... but i actually try to write one but i still cannot load my servlet on the webpage... test on standalone tomcat works.

Cloud Membership has reached its limit for hosted sites.

I have a full subscriptin to the cloud but when I try to push my new Muse site live Iget the following error: "Your Adobe Creative Cloud Membership has reached its limit for hosted sites." After much research I have kind of figured out that when I upgraded my trial version of Muse only to a paid version of the Adobe Cloud, the system may think I am still a trial member. I sent in a ticket but three says later it's still not fixed. Anyone one else had this issue?

I have only ever used one email address. [email protected] I'm not sure why it would should that I have even used one site since I have never published a website live. I have only played around with 3 different sites... all of which should still be temporary. The site I am trying to push live right now is outsidetheveil.com.

Periodic drop of connection to GoDaddy-hosted sites

For the past month or so, I occasionally lose access to any of my sites hosted at GoDaddy. I can connect to any other site, can ping other sites, etc. I can get to the server via IP, but not URL. And then, just as suddenly, I can pull up the site again. It seems to be happening with increasing frequency (four times today, happening right now). I've switched DNS servers from the Verizon ones to DynDNS to Google's, and no luck (and like I said, I can still go to other sites on the Internet.) When I check with http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ the server is still up and going (testing with the URL, not the IP address). Anyone else experiencing anything similar with GoDaddy? Or have any ideas. I've tried rebooting the router when it happens, but that doesn't resolve it.

Unfortunately, the only way in which you are going to get the url http://www.domain.com is by publishing your site to MME and using masked web forwarding.
If you upload to an external server using Cyberduck, then yes, you can get rid of the extra site name, but just clicking on your site folder and uploading the contents rather than the whole site folder. Do not upload the separate index file either. Then your url will be http://www.domain.com/welcome.html.
There is then nothing you can do about page names displaying - there is no uploaded website that does not display http://www.domain.com/pagename.html or php or whatever - this is the way that url's and the web works - if you have a site with more than one page, then this is just how it works and there is nothing you can do.
I suppose what you can try if your site is only one page is not having a link on the site at all. I see that as you have used one of the template options and the links are included at the top - one link Welcome on your site. If you only have one page and you are not going anywhere, then you do not need one link on the site. What you can do is go back into iWeb and open the Inspector and then click on Page and hide links, so there are none. If you only have one page, then you don't need an index file, so take the links out in iWeb and then publish to a folder again and then upload just the contents of your site folder or whatever it is called 'Votes'? You don't need to upload the separate index file and you could try removing totally, the index file within the uploaded contents of your site folder and seeing if this works to provide you with a url of http://www.domain.com. It might work without the link and index file.
Other than this, then there is nothing you can do about page names being displayed after your domain name - this is normal - you can however remove the extra sitename by uploading contents rather than the whole site folder.
Your only other option is then to publish to MME and use masked web forwarding instead, which would give you www.domain.com for all you pages, so no bookmarking of individual pages, just the whole site instead.
