Hosts no longer obtaining ip address on switch in 3850 stack

I have a six switch 3850 stack that has been in production for over a month now, and everything is running normal.  Last week, hosts plugged into one of the switches stopped working, the hosts are not getting an IP address (this is access layer so PC's and phones).  In addition, if I look at the MAC address table for a port, I am not seeing a MAC  address.
All of them are running 03.03.03SE        cat3k_caa-universalk9 .
I am thinking this is hardware related, only because on occasion I see the following messages in the logs:
Dec 17 12:21:18.052: %IOSXE-3-PLATFORM: MEMBER: 5 process fed: : -Traceback=1#88b11e4e26f5ac75f4f2f18f023e5220   :550E7000+3B9240 ngwcutils:2AF2C000+BE94 ngwcutils:2AF2C000+DA9C pthread:2E3C2000+5DC8
Also, I have a phone in a port on this switch for troubleshooting.  When I removed the service-policy from the port to rebuild the port configuration, I received this message:
%FED_QOS_ERRMSG-3-QUEUE_BUFFER_HW_ERROR: MEMBER: 5 fed:  Failed to allocate buffers for Gi5/0/1: code 18.

It could also be a software issue (bug).  Open a ticket with TAC and send them the logs so they can help you resolve the issue.

  • Obtain bad address bge0

    Hi
i was changing the ip address, gateway and dns of a sun solaris 9 machine. i have edited the files hosts, resolv and defaultrouter elsewhere. however, i forgot to copy the edited hosts file over and reboot the system. i thus obtained bad address bge0 and when ifconfig -a , it shows inet 0.0.0.0. have used terminal to get in and managed to use vi to create a file and mv to replace the hosts file. (hosts file is read only under vi). after reboot, inet still is 0.0.0.0. Have then use ifconfig command to change it and it manages to change to the required ip address. But the problem lies here, after reboot, the inet jumps back to 0.0.0.0 although the hosts file is correct now..
any one knows a solution to this? please..
    thanks

You also needed to edit /etc/hostname.bg0 in order to set an hostname. Also; just because a file is marked 'readonly' in vi doesn't mean you can't edit it. If you have the proper permissions (root) you can force vi to save your changes regardless of the lacking w permission flag using !.

Assuming you have these accounts set up in Mail, open preferences and under Accounts tab, edit the SMTP outgoing server list. Do you have a .mac address in the list? If so, delete it.
    Are you using iCloud?
For the troubled account, select the correct SMTP server for that account in the box and check the box to use only that server with that account.

  • HT1351 My fifth generation nano will no longer sync my address book from my Mac. It gives me an error message that "You have no contacts" and asks me if I want to create some.  My address book is full of contacts. Sync works for everything else.

My 5th generation nano will no longer Sync my address book from my Mac.  It gives me a message that I have no "Contacts", and asks if I want to create some.  My address book is full of contacts, but for some reason it thinks it is empty.  All the other sync operations work fine including iCal.  My Mac is running OS X 10.7.4.

It sounds like all of your contacts on your Mac running Lion are actually stored up in iCloud.
Several users running Mac OS X Lion and now ML (and iCloud) have no longer been able to "sync" contacts over to their older iPods models.
A work around is to export all of your contacts out of Address Book as vCards and them copy these vCards into your iPod's Contacts folder.  You'll need to have the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in order to browse out to the iPod's Contacts folder via the Finder.
Using your iPod as a storage drive
That's the only "solution" I have been able to use to get contacts to sync/appear on my 5G iPod Video.

  • Since updating to 10.7.4 the 'search' no longer works in Address Book.

Search no longer works in Address Book since I updated the MAC software to 10.7.4.
    Is there a 'fix' ?

I'm having the same problem. In addition, not only would the Search feature not work, but while in a view with  list on left, card on right, clicking on a contact in the list would not bring up that contact's card on the right. Double clicking on the contact in the list, however, would bring up the card in a separate window.
First, I exported my Address book and saved the Archive to my desktop (Address Book - 07-25-2012.abbu). I then went to the iCloud System Preferences and deselected Address Book, then re-selected it. The test revealed the problem was still there. I then deleted all my cards (I didn't know how to do this except to drag down through all the contacts on the list on the left and hit delete) and the Contacts list was then empty.
I tried File>Import, chose my backup file, and the list of contacts returned, but not the contact cards. Still couldn't search either.
I quit Address Book and from the Go menu in the Finder, selected Go To Folder and pasted in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook. This is what I got:
Because the next instruction was Restore the folder that opens from the backup you made before you started, and because no folder opened, I didn't know what to do.
So I went to my desktop, double clicked on the backup file, and got this:
I chose Replace All, and the Contacts List reappeared, but there were still no cards, and Search still didn't work.
So, I think I tried all your suggestions, but I'm back at square one. If you have any other work arounds I would appreciate help in solving this problem.

  • HP LJ8000n unable to obtain IP address

We have an old LaserJet 8000n that is unable to obtain an IP address. It has been working for the last 10 or so years. In the last two weeks or so, the printer is unable to get an IP address. I did a cold reset and nothing happens. The printer is setup to use DHCP to obtain IP address. I did also tried putting the IP address in manually but that does not work either. Below is the JetDirect configuration page printout.
    Any help/suggestion is much appreciated.

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You can find the Commercial Laserjet board here:

  • How to identify that a host is connected to which particular edge switch

    Hello Guys
Can anybody explain how to identify that a host is connected to which particular edge switch and port in a Cisco SAN Fabric ??

    Hi,
Hopefully you know the host PWWN.
If the edge switch is not in NPV mode, get the FCID from the output of "show fcns database"
The answer may also be as simple as finding this entry in the "show fcns database detail".
If not, once you have the fcid, the first byte of the fcid is the switch domain ID. With the combination of "show fcdomain domain-list vsan xx" "show fcs ie" you should be able to determine what you need.
If the edge switch is in NPV and registers as a NPV device ( Cisco switches do ), then the FCID will be assigned by the core switch upstream of that edge switch.   You can see this from a "show flogi database".  Find the PWWN here.  There will likely be multiple entries for the port where the host is connected.  Once you find the port where the NPV switch is attached.  The first flogi entry on that port will be the switch WWN.  Get the FCID for the switch and then find the entry for this FCID in the "show fcns database detail", this will give you the switch information.
    Best regards,
    Jim

    1. ACS gui > network configuration > click "search" and click "search" again.
    2. Complete list of all network device will appear. On top, you will see an option to "download".

The New Mail page no longer has an "Address" icon at the top.  What happened?

    Big --
Go up to the "View" menu, and pull down the "Columns" and "Sort by" menu options.  Do you see what you want there?  When you say "Address" do you mean "From?"
    Just saw BDA's response.
Are you talking about Safari, or the Mail app?

After the move to icloud, I no longer have an address book synched. Cannot find a way to add i cloud on preferences/accounts either. I'm not at all happy with this transition.

You don't require Mountain Lion - you need Lion which has been available for almost a year.
Unless you are running Mac OS X 10.7.2 or later (Lion) you won't be able to sync iCloud with your computer. The iClous system preferences pane does not exist in ealier versions.
The Mac system requirements are all clearly stated on the iCloud pages, and in the support articles.

  • Obtain IP address from Mac address

    Hi all,
Is ARD capable of obtaining IP addresses from mac addresses?
    Please advise.

ARD's System Overview can display IP addresses and MAC addresses for computers it manages. If you're asking whether ARD can scan a network for a particular MAC address and return the IP address for a computer that's not in ARD's list of managed computers, then no, it can't (at least not by any method I know of). ARD is really not a network scanning/management application; it's for managing Mac workstations.

  • Why does my Internet Sharing get stuck at "Obtaining IP address.."?

So I was trying to share my laptop's internet connection with my Android phone (HTC Desire X). I enabled the checkbox for Internet Sharing in System Preferences.
My phone detected the network. But when I tap on it, it gets stuck at "Obtaining IP address..". So, when connecting, I selected "static" as opposed DHCP and gave:
    IP: 192.168.1.1
    Gateway: 192.168.1.10
    Network prefix length: 24
    DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
    DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
Now it got connected, but still internet is still not working in the browser. Any ideas why?
