Hot Corners and Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working

When disconnecting from my 27" (that I use as a docking station with keyboard and mouse), in some cases my hot corners and keyboard shortcuts stop working.
F11 does not show the desktop, Ctl-UpArrow does not show mission control. Ctr-left-right arrow does work, as i can still toggle between desktops.
I know, lots of randomness here...
A reboot fixes everything.

I've go a Windows 7 system running CS5 and when I start Photoshop all my shortcuts are working but eventually really important ones like the brush tool sizing stop working. At the moment the only non-adobe/windows app running is iTunes and that have been running the whole time, turning iTunes off does not enable the stortcuts again.
Has the only conclusion to this problem been to turn off other apps? This has been a problem for me since I upgraded to CS5 and its driving me a little mental !

  • Keyboard shortcuts stopped working after upgrading to iOS 7

Does anyone know how to make the keyboard shortcuts start working again in iOS 8? After I upgraded to I OS 8 on my iPad air, the keyboard shortcut stopped working. Is there anyone who knows how to make this work again? All the fixes online pertain to iOS 7 and earlier, and they're not applicable for iOS 8.
    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks!

I lost all my keyboard shortcuts on my iPhone 5s after upgrading to iOS 8. They still showed up on my iPad Air (iOS 8) and iMac (10.9.5). There were, however, massive sync problems, sometimes they would only flow from one device to all the others, sometimes from one device to only one of the other two, sometimes not at all.
I deleted all my shortcuts and started from scratch, deleting “~/Library/Application Support/Ubiquity”, ~/Library/Dictionaries” and “~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~TextInput” from the iMac and KeyboardDomain from my iOS devices.
    Rebooted everything a dozen times.
Toggled Documents & Data Sync off and on a dozen times too in all kinds of combination with rebooting and deleting the aforementioned files.
Everything always starts working and syncing fine for a very short while, but sooner or later one of my devices stops receiving new shortcuts as I re-add them.
I reboot that device and it catches up. I enter new shortcuts, and that device doesn’t get any new shortcuts. This time, a reboot doesn’t fix anything.
After using my devices for a while, I notice shortcuts are entirely gone from both the iPhone and iPad, but not from the iMac.
I even upgraded my iPhone 5s to a 6, and right off the bat it had issues with keyboard shortcut sync. I also setup my iPad as new, and same thing: right off the bat, sync issues with keyboard shortcuts.

  • Camera switching keyboard shortcuts stopped working

I'm working on a multicam sequence, and I can switch cameras by clicking on the different shots in multicam view, but using the 1, 2, and 3 keys on the keyboard no longer switches the camera while I'm playing through.
I've tried changing the shortcuts to different keys, but that didn't fix anything.
Anybody else run into this issue?
I feel like it's probably a toggle I inadvertently hit somewhere, but I have no idea how it happened.

Thanks for the quick reply, but unfortunately I don't think that solves it.
If I have the multicam sequence paused, and have the clip selected on the timeline, I can switch between camera angles with no problem.
However, as soon as I start playing the sequence in the multicam monitor, the keyboard shortcuts stop working.
Also, the only keyboard layout I have installed is US English.

  • Keyboard shortcuts stopped working PS v11.0.2 Win7

argh. The keyboard shortcuts stopped working a few weeks ago and I've been trying so many fixes that worked for others, but none work for me.
    Photoshop v11.0.2
    Windows 7
    Dell Laptop Studio 1555
I periodically reset my prefereces - it does nothing to change the fact that the keyboard shorts don't work.
I've done a system restore to a date before this issue began. Nope, didn't work.
Not one of the shortcuts work. Not open, not close, not transform, not save,  not cut, not copy, not paste.....  This is incredibly frustrating in addition to wasting time because I STILL (lol) try to use the shortcuts. I've used them since 1991 and it's ingrained in me.
Please, I hope someone has a remedy.  As I research, I see more and more people having this problem.

You can always try mapping your own key's. If you insist..

Honestly, unless you need the NUM-Padd there are a lot of manufactures out there that make great wired/wireless keyboards that will support OS X out of the box. You can buy them at 7-11 I hear.
It's up to you, hears a little something to read from Microsoft, since your a noobie.

  • Bold keyboard shortcut stopped working InDesign

I am currently using InDesign through Adobe Creative Cloud on a Mac (Yosemite OS X). Just today, the keyboard shortcut for Bold stopped working. (Cmd + shift + B)  It beeps when I try to use it. I know that the font (Minion Pro) is working because I can manually select the bold version of it. Just the keyboard shortcut stopped working.

Are you using a custom shortcut set? If you are not using the [Default] set look under Text and Tables>Apply Bold

  • IPhone 5 - Keyboard Shortcuts stopped working

    Hi Community,
my iPhone 5 keyboard shortcuts stopped working since a couple of days. Moreover the same problem occurs with my iPad Mini 2.
I didn't change any settings or whatsoever.
Also very strange is, when I enter the keyboard shortcut settings, the whole setting app becomes super slow or crashes. And editing the settings is also super slow... I mean 15sec. after-click-reaction slow...
    Anybody has the same problem?

I deleted the iCloud account on both devices, then recreated them but problem remains...

  • Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working

When using Photoshop CC, my keyboard shortcuts are not working properly. For example, I will be cruising along on a painting and then my command-z will stop working. I then have to open the history tab and manually undo my last mark. Or I will attempt to switch from brush to eraser by hitting the E key and it doesn't switch. I ended up marking instead of erasing and am just doubling my work. I should mention I am using a Wacom Intiuos 3 tablet.
This problem is crippling my work flow and is making the program near obsolete for my purposes. Please help!

I'm having a similar issue. After a short while working, my shortcuts stop working.  I notice usually first with "undo" (cmd+z) then can't switch to simple tools like "eraser" (e) and feel like I'm suddenly imagining things...
The workaround I've found so far is that I need to click on Photoshop with my mouse pointer, like the the top window bar, to kind of get my mac focused on photoshop again, then a keyboard shortcut will work, then sometime shortly after, while working, my keyboard shortcuts will stop registering again.  I hope this is helpful for elihalpert.  I hope this is the same issue so that there's better hope of it being found, duplicated, and resolved.
This is really aggravating.  I haven't changed my equipment or workflow.  I have updated to Yosemite since the last time I recall working trouble-free.  But I'm fairly certain I'm not accidentally clicking out of photoshop or keyboard shortcutting to another program in any way.  I really hope someone sees this and can get to the bottom of it!

  • Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut stops working

Frequently, when I use the Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut to activate the Spotlight icon in the upper right corner of the screen, all I get is a highlight on the icon, but Spotlight itself doesn't open. So I can't start the search at all. However, the Spotlight window keyboard shortcut does work, and I can use Spotlight with no problems there. What is going on? The only way I can reactivate the simpler Spotlight menu version is by logging out of my account, then logging back in. It will work...but only for a while, then fail again, till I log out and log back in. Strange and frustrating.

    Rick,
Find and delete the following files, then restart:
    Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder (com.apple.systemuiserver.plist)
Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/ByHost Folder (com.apple.systemuiserver.000aXXXXadXX.plist) (X's will be numbers)
    Let us know what happens.

  • Command+Return and Shift+Return keyboard shortcuts stopped working

I'm using Firefox 4.0 on a 21.5" iMac running Mac OS X version 10.6.7. Just this morning, the command+return and shift+return keyboard shortcuts to auto-complete the .com and .net addresses of websites stopped working. Command+w still closes a tab, and command+left click still opens a tab in a new window. However, when I type anything in the address bar ("mac" for example) and then hit command+enter, Firefox opens up a new tab with a Google search for the word I typed. The address for this new tab is as follows:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=mac&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
Any idea what gives? I'm rather perplexed and frustrated.

Just removed OmniBar and the problem went away.

  • HELP! In middle of upgrade to windows 8 and keyboard/trackpad stopped working!

Hey all, new mac user here. Just bought a new macbook air 13" 2014 model. I succedded in installing windows 7 via bootcamp via a usb drive and was in the middle of installing a downloadable windows 8 upgrade (at a preferences page when they ask you to select your favorite color) when my macbook's keyboard/trackpad stopped functioning. I plugged in a usb mouse and that would not work either. I have absolutely no clue as to what to do next. If I had to install some driver or thing please tell me how to cancel the windows 8 install and return to windows 7. Thanks for all your help strangers

I was not able to find any drivers specifically for the web cam. I did find software to use the camera, but that was all I could find.
However, I do have a question about the Windows 8 upgrade process that was used.
Did you do an in-place upgrade or a clean install of Windows 8?
Go back to device manager. Is there anything here at all in an other category indicating it is having some type of an issue?
There are certain events that will need to happen.
Go to the start screen and search for uninstall a program. Select this option in the settings category.
This should take you to the Desktop app and show the familiar uninstall a program feature from Windows 7.
Select add/remove Windows Components on the left.
Is Framework 3.5 checked here? If not, enable this and install it.
Then, install the HP framework which is needed for some HP programs. This is a Windows 7 installation, but it should go through.

Once that is finished, reboot the system.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Keyboard shortcuts stopped working after 10.5.8 update

    Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with my keyboard after I updated to 10.5.8. More specifically the CMDOPTRight combo used in Firefox and Textmate (and possibly others) has completely stopped working.
I've checked it with the Keyboard Viewer and whenever I press this combo nothing happens. Strangely enough, when pressed in any other combo these keys work fine. I have installed no new software, installed any other updates or changed any existing keyboard combo and I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do next.
It's not the end of the world but any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

It's alright, I've managed to create a workaround using Quicksilver custom triggers.

  • Search keyboard shortcut stop working

    Dear everyall,
The "Cmd-Opt-F" shortcut to lové the cocus to the search box stop working (MacOsX and iTunes were uptodate)
Is there any tip to restore this fonction ?
    Manu thanks,
    Abeebytheway from Belgium

Sorry no one ever answered.  (Over a year and a half....)  But I had this same question and this post is one of the first results on apple, so here's what I found:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=812847
The solution mentioned there does seem to work fine (for getting Command-F, not Option-Command-F).

  • Mouse and keyboard shortcuts not working

I running Firefox 3.6.12 on a Mint 10 Gnome system. Firefox has worked very well for the past month with no problems. Today the mouse quit working when trying to click on any of the pulled down menus at the top, "File, Edit, View..." it also will not work on any pull down menus on screen, address bar, stumble tools... The shortcut keys for the top menu are also not working, Alt F will not pull the file menu down. The mouse works on links and single buttons such as the stumble button or bookmark buttons. Also, right clicking does not work anywhere in Firefox, but works in other programs.
I have rebooted the system and uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started Firefox in safe mode and everything started working as it should.
Restarted in normal mode and everything is again working, I didn't make any changes.
The theme was set at default as I have never changed it. I installed all the addons when I first got Firefox, no new ones have been added in over a month.
Does starting in safe mode reset the addons and plugins? Curious as to why starting in safe mode corrected the problem.

  • CS6 - Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working (Win7x64)

I'm running Win7x64, just formatted my system a few weeks ago and installed everything, all updates, as well as Adobe CS6 and all of it's updates.
My Photoshop CS6 is running 13.0.1.1, and is now experiencing this issue. Used it for almost a year without issues before.
I'm using the default workspace, I added Actions to the right side toolbar and that's it. When I started having this issue, I closed off the panels along the bottom (ie. minibridge) and went into preferences-plugins and disabled the 2 items under extension panels, as per another thread I saw.
It'll work fine, then quit. Sometimes simply closing and reopening the file fixes it, mostly I have to close Photoshop completely and reopen.
I have an older Wacom Bamboo tablet, which I've unplugged but makes no difference.
Seen a LOT of posts for this, not many solutions apart from updating Photoshop and disabling minibridge, which I've done. I've also seen threads as far back as CS4 about this problem so, surprised it's still an issue.
    Any solutions?

    Wow... helpful forum.
Well, for someone else who may have the same issue (which seems to be a decent amount) I think I fixed my problem.
In WinXP, I had a few keyboard issues which I figured out. When I install WinXP I click Canadian English. After everything is installed, under the keyboards/language settings, it would show the default US keyboard, the Canadain English, and it would for whatever reason always add in Canadian French. Deleting the French fixed my issues because I think with all the key-combos used in Photoshop shortcuts the language was getting switched... think default switch is 'LEFTALT+SHIFT'... which I use all the time when cropping.
As a habit I always deleted the French one after an install. Win7 was the same, but didn't see French last time so didn't delete anything. Last installtion however I used a new disc. Win7 with SP1... checked under keyboards/languages and the default US was there, and the Canadian now shows as Multilingual.
Deleted the Multilingual and just left the US default only, and after a week I have had no issues.

  • Mouse and keyboard both stop working

I've had my imac for about 3 years.  I am currently running Mac OS X 10.6.7.  In the past six months this problem started, I was using an ergonomic MS keyboard (USB) and mouse (wireless) but then I have removed both MS devices and the problem has not gone away since plugging in my apple keyboard and optical mouse.  I have tried using different usb ports and the problem still occurs.  The problem happens when I leave my mac unattended for 10+ mins I come back and cannot use the mouse to click or select anything* and also cannot type with the keyboard.  I have tried unplugging and plugging in again to the usb ports.  I listen to music on itunes and leave the mac on as a stereo then want to use it to pick another song - no it won't let me do that either (other than use the skip, pause or play buttons).  *If I'm lucky the mouse will let me select the apple then select restart or shutdown - however more often than not I have to reset by the button on the back of my mac as the mouse is not responding.  I don't overload the machine with a lot as I only use 3 applications (safari, itunes and sometimes outlook for mac).
What I find most interesting is that I can sit and constantly use the mac for hours on end - as long as I don't stop using the mouse or keyboard.  Inactivity over 10 mins begins the issue.  At the moment I can make it stay for a while by putting the machine to sleep and then waking it up but this doesn't help when I want to listen to music.
I have searched long and hard all over the net on how to fix this problem and it appears I am not alone.  I am hoping someone can help me please.  We have tried other apple accessories from other machines we have at home without any luck.
    Hoping someone can help me.

Could you say the keyboard and mouse model, please? That could help track the problem.
