Hot fix not applied to WSUS server
I am running windows 2008 SP2 with WSUS 3.0 sp2. I have tried to apply several hotfixes and I reboot and look at the help page and I am still on Version: 3.2.7600.226. No matter what KB I apply this never changes. So it is not detecting
my windows 8 machines correctly. How do I get the hotfixes applied. I click on install on them and they say updating and then it says successfully finished but the version number never changes. Any help would be appreciated.
and I reboot and look at the help page and I am still on Version: 3.2.7600.226.
The problem is that you're looking at the help page. This is a long-standing bug in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that does not update the About->Help of the base product when patched.
The authoritative source for the current build of a WSUS server is on the Details Pane of the root node of the console, in the lower right corner where it identifies the current "Server Version".

I tried to apply hot fix as mention in the above url for cf 9.0.1. but when I restart the server it still showing as pointing to same old jar file.
I followed the stems as follows.
===============
ColdFusion 9.0.1
Download CF901jar.zip and extract hf901-00003.jar.
In ColdFusion administrator, select System Information page by clicking the icon "i" in the upper right corner.
In the update file textbox, browse and select hf901-00003.jar and click submit.
Stop the ColdFusion instance.
Go to {ColdFusion-Home}/lib/updates (for Server Installation) or {ColdFusion-Home}/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/updates (for Multiserver and J2EE installation) directory. If hf901-00001.jar or hf901-00002.jar exist, delete them. Otherwise, ignore this step.
Start the ColdFusion instance.
If there are multiple instances, repeat steps 2 through 6 for each instance.
==================
after this my setting are unchanged as follows

I mean the Update Level is pointing to the old jar file 'chf9010002.jar ' insted of hf901-00003.jar.
Please help. The update level doesn't always show the most recently applied hotfix jar, this does not mean the hoftix was not applied. As long as you have hf901-00003.jar in this location: D:/JRun4/servers/DevColdF9Secondary/cfusion.ear/cfusion.war/WEB-INF/c fusion/lib/updates/ you should be good to go.

Client machine not reporting to wsus server
My server Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x 64 virtual machine install in Hyper-v server and Install SCE management version 2010.
in sudden server stopped sending updated to client machine. So I check many and did many changed as per MS community forums. But still I have same issue.
Then I planned to install again SCE management server in different VM. But even though I am getting error that old SCE management server is existing in my domain. Therefore I am afraid to change or remove any setting in AD since I have short
of knowledge about SCE servers.
However my SCE server was working smoothly until 11-2013 and then suddenly stuck. When I check the server machine I found that local drive C: is getting full and SCE management is fail to start. So from that to now when ever I had free time I changed
many things. But unfortunately I couldn't get the sever back to normal.
Few changes which I made are below.
- Remove and reinstall WAUS several times
- Check online update and direct updated server SCE machine without getting updated from SCE
- Remove dotnet frame work and updated version 4
- product configuration wizard reconfigure
- Repair management agent in client machine.
Kindly help for me to repair my SCE server or make another installation without having change of settings.
It would be highly appreciated if you could resolve issue
The error massage is below in windows update log.

2015-02-11 11:38:30:613 904 1de0 Report CWERReporter finishing event handling. (00000000)Can you try the below to reset the authorization and force a connection back from one of the win 7 machines:
it should help pinpoint exact issues.
1. Record the system time.
2. Reboot the system (or restart the Windows Update service).
3. After reboot run the command wuauclt
/resetauthorization /detectnow.
4. Wait 30 minutes.
5. Post the entries from the WindowsUpdate.log starting at the time recorded in Step #1.
Do you have any Windows 7 machines that are reporting? Are other machines with different operating systems reporting correctly? -

Applying Hot Fix Semi-Manually
I am wanting to know if a hot fix can be applied manually,
instead of the provided procedure through the CF Admin > System
Information page > Update file.
I have now tried twice on a Linux server, which gave me
permission errors, and on a Win server, which gave me I/O errors.
I did discover that it was trying to place the .jar file into
the cfmx7/lib/updates/ directory. So, on my Linux server I had my
IT guy place the jar file in that folder and restart CFMX7.
When go back to the System Information page, the update does
appear in the list of 'class paths'.
I have yet to do this on the Win server, but plan to soon.
I am wanting to know if this really does work and the hotfix
is applied correctly?
The reason why I ask if it will work is because the above hot
fix I applied to the CF on a linux server doesn't seem to be doing
anything. It was the individual hot fix for fixing text being cut
off in a PDF created using CFDOCUMENT.
Does applying the hot fix via the 'update file' on the System
Information page in the CF Admin site do anything more than simply
move the .jar file to the cfmx7/lib/updates folder? The cfadmin drops updates into cfmx7\lib\updates and that is
it. Your manual install should do it. Just make sure to unzip the
jar from the zip file, of course.
There are many different cfdocument text cut off issues. Not
all fixed by hf702-62335. -
Hi all
I'm having the same error that is described in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552/en-us
So i have applied this hot-fix to the SCCM 2012 server and update the distribution points of all boot images. and also i have deployed the hot-fix client package to my XP machines. client's Task Sequence component is now updated to 5.00.7958.1104.
Still i'm getting the same error in SMSTS.log
Please help me on this.
AsithaWhich boot image are you using? It has to match the architecture (x86 / x64) of XP if I am not mistaken.

WSUS GPO not applying on server restart
At first I thought this was limited to a single SBS 2008 server but I have now seen this behavior on another SBS2008 and SBS2011 server. Basically what happens is I patch the server, I restart the server but... somehow the GPO for WSUS does not apply
and leaves the server Windows update settings set on Download automatically and install at 3am when it should be the Standard "Download and Notify for install"
I can open a command prompt and perform a gpupdate /force and the the correct policy immediately applies.
Has anyone seen this behavior? Is it possible a windows patch that has caused this issue. It must be something common amongst all three different instances of SBS. I do not see any errors in event logs regarding group policy.
Please HelpHi skahlam,
Does this issue always occur when you reboot the server?
If yes, to verify if this issue is related to the updates, please try to remove the updates installed recently.
If issue persists after removing the updates, please try to run the gpresult /h C:\report.html
to check the detailed information about the GPO.
Note: This procedure needs the privilege of the Administrator.
Best Regards.

Windows Server 2012 R2 - ALL HF's Failing to install as "Does Not Apply to this computer"
Hi,
A general question about hot fix installs.
I have multiple servers that are all Windows 2012 R2. They do not have internet connections, so I have to install the Hotfixes manually. I download the HF's from the ISO download page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month. I collect them and install in a bulk install during a release cycle ( a couple times a year). I just realized that NO HF's have installed since JUNE 2014. Every HF that shows up in WindowsServer2012R2 directory fail to install with a message of "The update is not applicable to your computer". Which is fine if that was true, but.... I get this message for every HF from the ISO's since June 2014. NOT one HF thinks it is applicable to my computer. Could that be the case? No HF's apply to my Server 2012 systems since June of 2014?
This is my system info, and below that is the results from attempting to install 95 HF's.

Why do server(s) not appear in WSUS??
I'm a WSUS newbie who has installed WSUS on Win2k12 R2, using the WID...I was looking forward to this until I became stymied. :( :(
I have not yet installed the April 2014 MS updates to the server and will wait till I fix this...
I have a GPO called Servers WSUS Updates, with the target group Servers WSUS Updates, which is also the name of the OU for the servers receiving WSUS updates. I only have one server in this OU now for testing.
This server does not appear in WSUS and gpresult /r does not show the GPO applying to the server itself.
It does not seem to matter if I use http://wsus or http://wsus:8530...
I've done gpupdate /force on the DC several times and then gpresult /r several times on the server...
How and where do I figure out if this is a GP or WSUS problem?? -- since there's two parts, the GPO doesn't seem to apply to the server, and WSUS does not see the server...
Thank you, Tomgpresult /r does not show the GPO applying to the server itself.
Well... that would seem to be a significant clue, and makes this a Group Policy issue not a WSUS issue. :-)
It does not seem to matter if I use http://wsus or http://wsus:8530...
Yep. If the policy is not being applied, it doesn't make a bit of difference what's configured in the policy .. but for the record, since your WSUS server is on WS2012, the correct URL is http://wsus:8530.
I've done gpupdate /force on the DC several times
Why? Is the DC the one intended WSUS client? While we're on the subject... is WSUS running on the DC?
and then gpresult /r several times on the server...
And still the policy does not apply, suggesting the problem is more basic. How long did you wait after creating the GPO? If less than 2 hours this may simply be a function of running the GPUPDATE on the wrong machine.
How and where do I figure out if this is a GP or WSUS problem??
Oh, it's definitely a GP problem.
since there's two parts, the GPO doesn't seem to apply to the server, and WSUS does not see the server
Simply logic applies here. If the GPO doesn't apply, then the CLIENT cannot possibly communicate with the WSUS Server. Also, a most important fact to understand.. the WSUS server does not talk to clients. You might find it useful to review the WSUS Product
Documentation.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Replication - not applying snapshot and not updating all repliacted columns
We are using transactional replicating on SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) using a remote distributor. We are replicating from BaanLN, which is an ERP application to up to 5 subscribers, all using push publications.
Tables can range from a couple million rows to 12 million rows and 100's of GBs in size.
And it's due to the size of the tables that it was designed with a one publisher to one table architecture.
Until recently it has been working very smooth (last four years)) but we have come across two issues I have never encountered.
While this has happen a half dozen times before, it last occurred a couple weeks ago when I was adding three new publications, again a one table per publication architecture.
We use standard SS repl proc calls to create the publications, which have been successful for years.
On this occasion replication created the three publications, assigned the subscribers and even generated the new snapshot for all three new publications.
However, while it appeared that replication had created all the publications correctly from end to end, it actually only applied one of the three snapshot and created the new table on both of the new subscribers (two on each of the
publications). It only applied the snapshot to one of the two subscribers for the second publications, and did not apply to any on the third.
I let it run for three hours to see if it was a back log issue.
Replication was showing commands coming across when looking at the sync verification at the publisher and
it would even successfully pass a tracer token through each of the three new publications, despite there not being tables on either subscriber on one of the publishers and missing on one of the subscribers on another.
I ended up attempting to reinitialize roughly a dozen times, spanning a day, and one of the two remaining publications was correctly reinitialized and the snapshot applied, but the second of the two (failed) again had the same mysterious result, and
again looked like it was successful based on all the monitoring.
So I kept reinitializing the last and after multiple attempts spanning a day, it too finally was built correctly.
Now the story only get a little stranger. We just found out yesterday that on Friday the 17th
at 7:45, the approximate time started the aforementioned deployment of the three new publications,
we also had three transaction from a stable and vetted publication send over all changes except for a single status column.
This publication has 12 million rows and is very active, with thousands of changes daily.
, The three rows did not replicate a status change from a 5 to a 6.
We verified that the status was in fact 6 on the publisher, and
5 on both subscribers, yet no messages or errors. All the other rows successfully updated.
We fixed it by updating the publication from 6 back to 5 then back to 6 again on those specific rows and it worked.
The CPU is low and overall latency is minimal on the distributor.
From all accounts the replication is stable and smooth, but very busy.
The issues above have only recently started. I am not sure where to look for a problem, and to that end, a solution.I suspect the problem with the new publication/subscriptions not initializing may have been a result of timeouts but it is hard to say for sure. The fact that it eventually succeeded after multiple attempts leads me to believe this. If this happens
again, enable verbose agent logging for the Distribution Agent to see if you are getting query timeouts. Add the parameters
-OutputVerboseLevel 2 -Output C:\TEMP\DistributionAgent.log to the Distribution Agent Run Agent job step, rerun the agent, and collect the log.
If you are getting query timeouts, try increasing the Distribution Agent -QueryTimeOut parameter. The default is 1800 seconds. Try bumping this up to 3600 seconds.
Regarding the three transactions not replicating, inspect MSrepl_errors in the distribution database for the time these transactions occurred and see if any errors occurred.

SCCM 2007 R3 Software Updates Sync : 6703 WSUS server not configured
Hi,
We run SCCM 2007 R3 in native mode (Software Update Point and WSUS both reside on SCCM site server). We're having issues running Software Updates Synchronization which have previously worked fine. In SMS_WSUS_Control_Manager the errors appear as follows
MessageID:6703
SMS WSUS Synchronization failed.
Message: WSUS server not configured.
Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync.
The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error
I've followed the suggested fixes in
http://technet.micro...y/bb735874.aspx but still we have an issue.
If I open the WSUS console directly and run a manual synchronization from Microsoft this completes successfully. However, I presume this will not be using SSL which is what SCCM will want to use in native mode. I've checked the bindings in IIS on WSUS Administration
site to confirm that the certificate hasn't expired.
Any ideas what else I can try?
Cheers,

How to fix ipad error -1004 "could not connect to the server"
I am trying to access the tablet edition of Vanity Fair. I already have a subscription and when I click on the "Tap here for acces to the tablet edition" it takes me to a screen & this error message pops up:
Cannot Open Page
This page cannot be opended because of an error
This error is "Could not connect to the server."(-1004).
I have deleted, reinstalled via itunes on my mac, done a hard restart and nothing seems to be working. I can browse the web using safari and am connected to the internet via wifi.
Any suggestions?I have the same issue, too. My New Yorker subscription is fine, always has been. But my Conde Nast Traveler subscription won't work. I can get to the screen where you enter your information (either with name and address or subscription number and zip code), but once I press Continue I get the error.
I emailed Conde Nast's customer service, and this is what they said:
Dear Subscriber:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have
experienced.
We have applied a fix to the app for the server error and you will need
to close and re-open your app. To do so, please double click the "home"
button to close the running app and then re-open your app.
Please let us know if you still experience any problems.
If you should need further assistance, please be sure to include all
previous e-mail correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in Conde Nast Traveler.
Sincerely,
Shar
That didn't work. I tried the restarting the iPad, as someone here suggested, but that didn't work, either. Interesting that this seems to be a Conde Nast issue - my NY Times and National Geographic subscriptions are just fine, too.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the guidance in this knowledge base article means: "Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software." How does one do that on one's iPad?
I actually wonder if it's a firewall issue. Are any of you attempting to enter this information at work, for example? I am, and my company has a firewall/proxy that gives me issues sometimes. I'm going to try to find a wifi hotspot at lunch to see if it'll work there. -
Computers not appearing in WSUS downstream replica server
Hello guys,
I need your advice on the setup of the replica servers. I currently installed a WSUS replica downstream server on one of our locations for the clients/servers in the same place to get the updates locally.
Now we are on Server 2012, on this box has WDS service working and I have decided to setup a WSUS replica here. So added WSUS role & SSL is enabled, so ports 8531 & 8530 are allowing traffic on the replica server. Now synching works fine with the
upstream server as far as updates & computer GROUPS were synch fine. Now the issue, is the computers are not showing up in the computer groups for the replica server in contrast with the upstream which has the computers. What could be the reason?
I have configured already the GPO for the clients intended to get updates for the replica, client side targeting & "Specify a MS intranet location..." is configured with the REPLICA servername:port. Am I missing anything? Please help..
Thank you, MonHi Mon Laq,
Please check your upstream and downstream server have any event occur, the client which not reporting must have error log.
Check if name resolution is working for parent server from this replica server, GPO were not applied correctly, please to confirm the sync between the upstream
and downstream server is working properly,

Server 2012 R2 Clients will not update via WSUS
We're having a problem with our Server 2012 R2 servers not updating as of about a month ago. I've read the article about KB2959977. I don't know if that is the issue or not, but the timing seems about right. If I go to install this update
on the affected servers, I get a Window that just hangs at "Searching for updates on this computer".
When I look at the Windows update log, I get repeated entries of:

getting are these constant messages in the logs.
Other interesting errors are:
2014-08-04 08:50:23:644 2132 1140 CltUI FATAL: CNetworkCostChangeHandler::RegisterForCostChangeNotifications: CoCreateInstance failed with error 80004002
2014-08-04 08:50:23:644 2132 1140 CltUI WARNING: RegisterNetworkCostChangeNotification: Error 80004002
