The hot key permits the user to select an elementary search help from the collective search help directly in the input field with the short notation. The restrictions can also be entered directly in the dialog box for restricting values.
Letters and digits are allowed as hot key.
With the short cut, the user can select an elementary search help of a collective search help and fill in the fields of the dialog box for restricting values directly in the input field. This can save time if the user frequently looks for values using the same search help.
The short cut must be entered in the input field according to the following convention:
=HK.S1.S2.S3 etc.
where HK is the hot key of the elementary search help and S1, S2, S3, etc. are the restrictions that are entered in this order in the corresponding dialog box. Each entry is considered to be a pattern with a terminating '*'. Restrictions for fields for which no entry could be made in the dialog box are ignored.
The hot key need not be entered if only one elementary search help is assigned to the field or if the elementary search help stored as the standard search help should be used. If S1 consists of more than one character, the first separator '.' can also be omitted.
If the hot key is entered without restrictions (=HK), the dialog box for restricting values appears. If restrictions are defined, the dialog box for restricting values does not appear and the hit list is displayed directly. If exactly one hit is found, the hit list is not displayed. The values of the hits that are found are returned directly to the screen in this case.
Example: =b.lh.frankfurt is entered in an input field for a flight number. This field has a collective search help containing several search paths (elementary search helps) for the flight number. If you now choose F4, the elementary search help with hot key B is selected. The hit list is selected with restriction 'LH' for the first field and 'FRANKFURT' for the second field in the dialog box for restricting values that normally appears for this elementary search help. The hit list is displayed directly if more than one hit is found.
Note: If an elementary search help is chosen using the hot key, no new standard search help is stored. The standard search help stored for each user and collective search help is only reset if an elementary search help is chosen with the selection dialog box.

How do you get the hot keys / keyboard shortcuts to work?

I have the free trial version of Photoshop. I am new to Photoshop, I am just starting to learn how to use it. I notice that some of the shortcuts/hot keys don't work.
For example, one basic hot key that does not work is the F7-key. The F7-key opens and closes the layers palette.
Another hot key that does not work is the spacebar. My teacher taught me to hold the spacebar down when you want to move the canvas around. When I am in handtool mode I hold the spacebar down, I then apply pressure on my laptops touchpad, I then slide my finger across my laptops touchpad in order to try and move the canvas, but the canvas does not budge.
Some shortcuts work. For example, tapping the F-key multiple times will expand and reduce the size of Photoshop.
Closing my web browser did not resolve the problem. Updating the software did not resolve the problem.
I am eager to learn Photoshop, but it's hard, and probrably a waste of time, to try and learn Photoshop when some of the softwares hot keys don't work. Anyone have a solution they can offer?

Hot Keys - applications

It would be great to be able to assign Hot Keys to different applications. For example, hit "T" for tools, so you don't have to navigate the menu; or "C" for camera etc.

The alternative command is Command-TAB.
When WoW operates in full screen it might not work however.

Hot Keys Sleep Command

Greetings all,
I have recently updated to Mac OS X 10.49, everything works fine except the hot key command, (Opt & Apple & Eject) for sending the Mac to Sleep does not now work.
If some one has a solution for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

You now have to hold the Eject key down for a moment or two. This was changed presumably to avoid the effect of accidentally hitting Eject when you meant the Delete key or another.

How about Hot Keys for the Wireless Keyboard?

Hello all.
Been using the iPad 2 for about 2 weeks since I got it. Had to "ditch" the iPad Keyboard Dock and use a regular Apple Wireless Keyboard. The good thing is now using the TwelveSouth iPad Stand, I can orientate the iPad to any of the two positions I want.
But I miss the special hot keys on Keyboard Dock, namely the Home and Lock keys. Kind of inconvenient pushing the Home button on the iPad 2, especially having to double-press for multitasking.
If only the iPad's iOS allows some sort of configuration for hot keys on the wireless keyboard. I do notice that the F5 and F6 are empty.

I would only hope that the keyboard would turn off, not just when it isn't pairing with the computer, but for the keyboard that is paired (mine is) it would be best if it turned off after a period of no use. Here is what one man, not an Apple tech, said about the A1314 keyboard he was selling on ebay:
"The keyboard automatically powers down when you're not using it and turns on instantly as soon as you start typing. This intelligent power management means you'll get up to nine months of battery life based on average usage patterns. It also has an on/off switch for when you're away from your computer for a long time."
This doesn't indicate how many minutes of no use it needs before it 'powers down' (doesn't sound as good as really being turned off) and it also doesn't address the issue of knowing if your keyboard is on or off via the power button.
Even my dog electric training collar blinks twice when it is turned on and blinks three times when it is turned off. The Apple keyboard needs two indicator lights, one to tell you if it is searching for pairing and the other strictly as an on off indicator. I'm not going to loose any sleep over this, but it does seem like somebody was sleeping in the design department as this keyboard is really cool, but it doesn't convey the basic on/off information to the user.

How do I turn off hot key commands for the application menu/main nav?

(I am using Photoshop CC on windows 7 64bit)
I continue to have this problem which in many ways slows down my workflow. It is a bit difficult to explain so bare with me here.
When I am working through the different functions and tools like switching from the polygonal lasso tool to duplicating a layer and then nudging the image with the directional keys the application menu/main nav is selected instead of the designated hot key and I need to hit esc twice to exit the main nav selection and go back to the tool I was using... “I did say this would be hard to explain”.
Let me paint a specific scenario that causes this to happen:
I want to create a mirror reflection for a product. I first duplicate the product image, then I flip it vertically and drag it to the bottom of the base image. Then I hit the directional up button to nudge it into place but this doesn’t work because by hitting the directional button ‘File’ from the main nav is selected. In order to return to the ‘move tool’ I need to hit esc twice or hit the mouse button once. This may not sound like a big deal and it’s not but do this 500 times a day for a week with the ‘polygonal lasso tool or PLT’ and tell me it’s not a big deal after that. When using the ‘PLT’ you have no option but to hit the esc button twice because if you click the mouse button you place an anchor for the PLT and chance loosing anything you have already preselected with the PLT.
Anyway, moral of the story is... I have a mouse which is more than proficient in selecting File, Edit, Image, Type and any other main nav query. I would love the hot keys to select just the tools and simply leave the main nav out of it... when I first purchased CS5 this function was not apparent. It was only after an update or maybe I blindly changed a preference and poof... every second hot key I push I select something from the main nav which is a completely pointless and annoying function for me which I have never used and never ever will.
Please Adobe tech masters, help me! I will be forever in your debt.

Not a problem in the Adobe software. Something is wrong with your input devices or you have something on your system that instates global, system-wide shortcuts that may conflict with application specific ones. You need to figure out what it is.

Search Server Error - Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion

I have a 5 server farm (DC, 2 WFEs, 1 SQL,1 CA w/ search) and am experiencing an issue when returning search results. This issue just started occurring recently, and basically the search page throws a correlation id whenever used. The error returned
is:

I even attempted to create an out of the box enterprise search site with OOB masterpages and I still am receiving this error.
I have also tried the ‘Do not forcefully unload the registry at user logoff’ registry edit, but it did not work.
Has anyone ran into this issue and has another solution other than the ‘Do not forcefully unload the registry at user logoff’ registry edit?

Hot key(Ctrl+F1) for More field help not working

Hi all,
I am facing a strange problem. When I have run my WD application there will be some UI elements on the browser say one Input field. If I want to check the More information about this input field, I have to make a right mouse click on it and the More field help appears. By this I am getting the technical information about the UI element.
The Hot key to do this is Ctrl+F1. It's not working with in my server, it's just open the Internet explorer Help. Although I am able to use this Hot key in an other server to find the More field help.
Can anyone suggest me why I am not able to get the More field info from the Hot key Ctrl+F1 in my server. Is there any setting which needs to be made in my server.
I have also tried out to check the HandleHotKeys property of the ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER in my view but it's not working for me as well.
Please suggest what will be the reason.

Your right, I was thinking the opposite - that it wasn't working in 7.0.
Perhaps this change is becuase F1 now launches the Help Center as of 7.01 and higher.
I'm not sure there is a hot key associated with the more field help any longer. I checked the javaScript and F1 is tied to the "help" event (the help center). Alt, Shift or Ctrl - F1 are all routed back to the browser help functionality (bHelp). See this screenshot:

Hot keys for the button

hi friends,
Is it possible to remove a mnemonic associated with a button based on the focus of the cursor?
For example, when focus is on text field TF1, the button B1 should have a hot key ALT_B but when the focus is on textfield TF2, the button B1 should not have the hot key ALT_B.. that is, if focus is on TF2 and user enters ALT_B.. button B1 action should not be performed.

You could use Button.setMnemonic(0) (thats the method that takes an int as the argument) to disable the mnemonic. And Button.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_B) to enable it again (for the character 'b').
But don't misunderstand me either, if I open a new dialog and see a button that signifies to me : You can use ALT_B to toggle me because thats the character that has a line below it, I would be surprised it that doesn't work just a few seconds later, because some application logic took that feature away from me.
Think about it, but otherwise the above methods should work. May you have to repaint/inavlidate the button to set/remove the underlined character

Hot Keys for TextBoxes

Hi all,
I am working on MAC OS X and create an application in java using Net Beans 5.5 .
Application shows 3 controls on a dialog having
one label, one textbox and a button control.
I have set hot keys for both label and button by putting
'&' in their name like "My&Label" and "My&Button"
when i run the application And press (Alt+ L) focuse is not going on Textbox but when i press (Alt + B) then button click event is working
how do i set hot keys for a textbox in front of a label control

I think you need to set the setLabelFor and setDisplayedMnemonic properties of the label.
From the API docs:
If the displayedMnemonic property is set and the labelFor property is also set, the label will call the requestFocus method of the component specified by the labelFor property when the mnemonic is activated.

Hot key assignment for exposure control

Hi
I'm running 100s - 1000's of sequentially exposed images in LR and as a finishing step I'm ajusting exposure (+/_ 1/3 step) to various images in the quick develop module. Can I assign hot keys to these controls? Do they aready exist?

I can't find standard key shortcuts that work in Quick Develop. But if you go into Develop and click on the word "Exposure" in the Basic panel, you can then use the + and - keys to adjust Exposure in small increments, and shift/+ and shift/- to use larger increments, then use the right arrow key to move to the next image - so the Exposure slider retains the keyboard focus. The . (dot) and , (comma) keys step this keyboard focus up and down through the various sliders.
Or, if you specifically want to use Quick Develop for its relative adjustment behaviour (for example, across several images highlighted) you might check out something like this:

Hot keyes for monitor brightness on SL510

I have very annoying problem with hotkeyes for adjusting monitor brightness! After last version of hotkeyes driver they don't work. I can't increase or decrease brightness! Pressing them down and can't change anything. And there is something more! For example I have adjusted some level from power manager and everything looks good until I don't try to manage brightness with hot keyes. I doesn't matter if i want to increase or decrease brightness, it just goes to maximum level!
Anyone knows something for this problem?

Yoga - Thinkpad message receiver for shortcut hot keys and 30 % CPU usage after lock screen or sleep

Hi! After returning from sleep or lock screen a process called "Thinkpad message receiver for shortcut hot keys" starts using about 30% of the CPU. Temps go upo to 60-70 degrees battery is being depleted quite fast. This process doesn't stop until I end it using task manager. Once ended that way, it doesn't start again even if I use sleep or lock screen. Need help with this!
I didn't use to have this problem like a month ago or so. Probably came into existence after some updates.
