Hot News Screen Saver

Apple Fans,
Here is the setup and followup question.
I have my powerbook screen saver set up to display the "Hot News"/RSS Visualizer. Therefore, when it is time to switch over to the screen saver the news pops up on, I quess what you would call, a rotating type of display and if i want to access the information shown at that time I touch the coresponding number (ex. Apple launches Quicktime 8... press "2" for more info), blah, blah, blah, you know.
Anyway... the background when this happens is blue. How can I change the color background?
I have gone to the screen saver section and I don't see a place in there that this can be done.
Thanks in advance for any helpful hints!

  • Installing a New Screen Saver

I'm pretty new to the world of Mac and still figuring things out since I'm so used to PC. I went to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/3ddesktopaquariumscreen saver.html and downloaded the screen saver at the bottom. It downloaded to the desktop. I assumed double clicking it would install it, but when I go into the screen saver preferences it isn't there for me to choose. What do I have to do?
    Thanks
Mac OS X (10.4.8)   MacBook Pro

If double-clicking doesn't work, try this:
    Quit System Preferences
    Go to Hard drive/Library/Screen Savers
Put the screen saver in that folder. Open System Preferences and click on the Desktop and Screen Saver button. The screen saver should now be listed.

  • Hot corners: screen saver

    Dear Applelovers,
Happy Seasons Greetings to you and yours.
I continue to have a problem enabling 'hot corners' to work. I have tried, particularly in the Screen Saver section of System Preferences, but no luck.
I am able to selct the hot corners feature by clicking the box, but the corners no longer seem to respond when it comes to starting the screen saver. I am able to put the display to sleep as well as other selections, but enabling the corners to allow the screen saver to begin is a no-go.
Looked around the forums and elsewhere online; though this seems to be a "known issue", I have yet to discover a fix for it.
    Thoughts?

I think what you want to do is in System Preferences > Security > under the General Tab. You set this up to require a password after the screen saver kicks in.

  • Adding a new screen saver

how to add new screen savers for my desktop?
    Iam working on SunOs 5.5.1

    Sizo,
Steve is correct.  Examine the main screenset.  Choose the platform, then copy an existing screen or add a new one.  Modify it as needed.  It will now display as a new tab on the client.

  • Is "connect to itunes" my new screen saver or something?

My IPhone 5c was on the charger when I looked at my setting to check out my new update notification. I guess the update has me feeling like an old lady who doesn't understand too much about phones because the only thing I see is one of the three things my screen is displaying; 1. "connect to iTunes" 2. The "apple" and the best one would have to be 3. that black mirror thing that you always lock your phone to check yourself out with. So after trying to restart my phone by pressing both the lock and home button, it turned off, showed me that apple, and then the "connect to iTunes". Take two was pressing just the lock button; nothing. Third lucks charm was pretty disappointing after I finally dug out the old Acer and plugged my stubborn phone into iTunes to see that I had to restore my phone to factory settings because I have unsaved pictures of my cousin who recently died from leukemia. I finally figured that it was my best shot so I pressed the restore iPhone box and after 5 long hours and 5 arduous tries to just get my phone to turn on out of desperation, it still just wants to be plugged into iTunes. Even when it's plugged in! I'm only 15, and I truly feel as if I'm trying to get a baby to stop crying. Yes, it does help trying to make silly faces at it but that's only because I'm seeing myself and I do really need my phone. No, not only because I go on twitter to see the latest complaints but I have a job at a horse farm, and I can be needed at any moment. Soccer also starts tonight, and I everybody probably thinks I'm ignoring them or something. Please help me get this phone to work again!

Plave the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes.

  • Reading videos with iphoto and select iphoto in the screen saver

Since I've upgraded my mac with mavericks, I can not read videos in iphoto'09.
I have an other proble: I can't select iphoto in the screen saver module.
    Can you help me? thanx

About videos in iphoto'09: before upgrading my mac with mavericks, in order to read videos I just click on it. Now, itunes don't find the good software to read the video in iphoto.
About selecting a new screen saver: my mac can not find the iphoto library in the right place when I'm in the screen saver module

  • Can't open Desktop & Screen Saver preference panel

I tried to d/l a new screen saver. I double clicked it and now it only say "Loading Deskotp & Screen Saver"
I've since deleted the moduel, but the system continues to say "Loading Deskotp & Screen Saver" when trying to open that preference.
The other gotcha is that the machine is binded to Active Directory and I'm logged on using my AD account. Which is administrative account on the iMac as well.
What can I delete to fix this problem? Since it's not a local user, I can't delete the /Users/<name> folder to reset everthing.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you.

    OS X 10.4.7

Here is a more general question...
If I logon to a Mac using my Active Directoy account, where is that information stored?
For some reason, the /Users folder is not populating with with the network accounts.
They have to be stored somewhere to keep each users customized changes.

  • Photos do not work in screen saver in preferences

With upgrade to 10.10.3 and integration from iPhoto to Photos, my screen saver in preferences cannot access my photos. Any ideas?

Mine started working after a while.  I'm not sure how long it took but probably a couple hours.  I was getting organized to set up a folder with the pictures I wanted in the screen saver when I clicked on the menu in the system preferences and was very surprised to options to pick photos from Photos.
Later, I was disappointed to see the list of albums was out of date; the new screen saver album wasn't there.  I decided to try quitting system preferences and starting it up again and that worked.  When I checked the list of albums available in the screen saver menu, it had updated and I was able to select the folder I wanted.

  • Latest upgrade messes up screen saver.

I upgraded the firmware on my (old) 720p Apple TV. It invented a new screen saver using Album covers. Gret but it chnaged my saved deafult screen saver. I have tried three times to set it back to my selected photos but it keeps coming back with a mixture of phgoitos and album covers.
Please help me to get so I can choose Photos ONLY as a screen saver,
    Disappointed.

Select the screen saver option you want and the photo album option you want.  There is nothing new that causes it to change after you select it.  Did you select the random screen saver option?  It will cause it to change.  It will also not use your iPhoto pictures if your computer is not avialble to connect to.

  • Screen saver lag in loading photos from new folder

I use my screen saver to display the family photos in a side show. I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option. This is puzzling because when I move my mouse cursor to the upper left corner of my screen to activate the screen saver, it only takes a few seconds to begin displaying photos, even with iTunes and other apps running. But when I open the Screen Saver Preference Pane just to change the source folder or to make any other simple change in options (pan and zoom, time to activate screen saver, etc.) it bogs down completely for 2-3 minutes. This makes no sense to me -- if the OS can get the screen saver side show going on a folder with several thousand photos in just seconds when the hot corner is used to activate it, why does it take the Preference Pane version so long to load the very same photos in a preview window? The problem is so bad, that I rarely bother to change source folders now. Which is a shame, because the side show program does a stellar job displaying photos -- at least once it gets around to it! A possible solution would be to give the user the option to suppress previewing of images. I have suggested this to Apple in several emails, and with each update to the OS I hope to find the problem corrected. So far, no cigar.
As long as I'm at it, I'd like to make my annual request that Apple to make the Screen Saver side show a stand-alone application. My reasons, partly taken from an earlier post, are as follows. The built-in side show provided by Apple via the Screen Saver Preference Pane does a fantastic job of displaying even low-resolution photos in full-screen mode (especially with pan and zoom activated) without the photo appearing excessively blurry or pixelized. I don't know how the Apple programmers do it, but the photos displayed by the screen saver seem crisper and sharper than the same photos displayed by Preview or Photoshop. This may partly be due to an illusion created by the pan and zoom -- the expansion and shifting of the image on the screen causes the mind to focus on the signal, which is consistent from frame to frame, as opposed to the noise (pixelization) which varies somewhat randomly. I think there is some kind of perceptual averaging process that allows the mind to perceive the underlying true image, despite the low resolution.
Be that as it may, I love the iMac screen saver. But I can't get control of it because it is not a stand-alone app. If the side show were available as stand-alone application it would probably have other features such as the ability to pause, go backward or forward, set the duration of each photo, select background music, etc. These would be in addition to the pan and zoom options already offered by the Screen Saver Preference Pane. And unlike the Preference Pane, selecting a new folder for the side show would (hopefully) not dog the machine completely down.
I am aware that side show capability is available within iPhoto and also at the FINDER level when using Spotlight to search for images. But again, none of these are stand alone apps, they all work a little differently, and no one of them does everything you need. How about just having an app called Slideshow (or iSlideshow)?
Does anyone else see a need for this?

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

  • IMR7 : Creation of a new Screen Variant does not save Layout

    Hello,
In IMR7, if I create a new screen Variant with a modified the default Layout field, the next time I log-in to SAP, system does not recognize my Layout selection.
    Do you have a suggestion?
    Thanks
    François

    Hello,
Thanks for your support but it did not resolved my problem.
When I save Layout I  have three fields:
    -Layout name
    -User-specific checkbox
    -Description
Even though User-specific is not checked, next time I relog to SAP and choose my Variant, the layout I have chosen in this variant is not keeped in memory. A layout named 4_SAP_IM is always displayed.
Do you have the same behavior?
    Thanks
    François

  • I have just opened 2 new albums in photo but cannot see the albums thru' itunes when syncing my ipad or thru' the screen saver on ITV

I have just opened 2 new albums in photo but cannot see the albums thru' itunes when syncing my ipad or thru' the screen saver on ITV . My photo apps is Version 1.0 (209.52.0)

Have you tried deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-trying the photo sync and see if they all then copy over (you need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad) ? The location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
Don't know about the Facebook photo emailing, but there are a number of apps that allow to upload photos to their site (e.g. the 'official' Facebook app).
(For future info, typing all in capitals is considered SHOUTING - you are more likely to get help/responses if you don't.)

  • New MacBook Pro, fan goes crazy on iPhoto screen saver

I just got a new 15in MacBook Pro (running Lion of course) with the following specs:
       - 8 gigs RAM
       - 2.2 GHz
       - 500 gig 7200 hard drive
I had my screen saver set to cycle randomly through 350 pictures from my wedding. Within 1 minute of the screensaver activating, my fan kicks in full speed. When I go into Activity Monitor (while the fan is still going nuts) no processes are using more than 7% CPU. Within a couple of minutes of resuming work, the screen saver dies down and everything is fine.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm a programmer and even having multiple applications in active use, the fan doesn't kick on. If I switch to Arabesque screen saver, the fan doesn't act crazy. I suppose it's not a big deal to use a different screen saver but there's no logical reason for my fan to go insane when all it's doing is cycling through some pictures.
I did try the steps to reset the SMC but it did not seem to solve the issue.
    Any help appreciated!

You were right One of my other iPhoto albums must have corrupted pictures because I went to a backup that contained only the wedding pictures and everything is fine. Always nice when the answer happens to be something simple!
    Thanks!!

  • "Disable Screen Saver" hot corner no longer prevents Display Sleep

I am not sure whether it started only after I upgraded to 10.5.7, but I certainly have this very annoying issue right now.
I have "Disable Screen Saver" assigned to the top right "hot corner". Some time ago I could place my mouse pointer there in order to prevent activating of "Display Sleep" (as well as gradually dimming before jumping into bed).
It no longer works. I have my pointer in the right corner, and nevertheless the display first dims, then goes to sleep.
Is this only my problem? Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks!

    Anybody?
