Hot Spot Connectivity

I've had this phone for about a week now and i think i have most everything figured out except a couple...i've been having trouble connecting to free wifi such as mcdonalds,etc....no problems at home though...a page will come up with a network name to enter but i ignore that and go back to wifi page and it will say connected to what ever network it scans and finds..but when i tap my browser app cannot find browser page comes up...anyone know what i may be doing wrong?
and secondly this is not that big of a deal but are there reminder alerts such as calls, text.and voicemails?...or do i just have to keep checking my phone if its in a place where i cant here it?

There are no reminder alerts on the Kin, sorry. If you missed the notification, you'll have to wake up the phone to see if anything new is showing on the main screen.
Re: Wi-Fi hotspots ... I connected to Wi-Fi at Starbucks using a Kin. When I turned on Wi-Fi, I got a prompt saying the network was found and asking if I wanted to connect. Then it took me to a Web page, where I had to agree to AT&T's terms.
I don't remember if I had to do this, but maybe when the Wi-Fi network page comes up, you have to select "Open" to indicate open network?

  • Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home.  Please shed some light on this for us PLEASE. Thanks

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached.  Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

  • How can I get the hot spot connection to say working on my phone?

I cannot get my hot spot connection to stay working.

There are phone companies that do only allow tethering with more expensive rates. Would have to talk with your company to see if your phone can rate tethering.

  • Ipad hot spot connection trouble

I connect my ipad to the internet via a hot spot on my iphone. Worked perfectly for months and suddenly it won't connect. My phone says there is 1 connection and ipad says connected but the ipad never shows a check beside the iphone hotspot. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

If the hotspot you are trying to connect to is a "captive portal" type of hotspot, which are commonly found in public locations, such as hotels, airports, cafes, etc. If you are connecting to this type of public hotspot, you may be required to complete an additional step before you will be allowed to access the internet. This may be to login/register for an account, acknowledge terms of acceptable use, pay for access time (if its not a free hotspot), or some other similar action. If this is the case, you will be redirected to a login page in your browser after you connect to the WiFi network using the steps that @Weth listed above.

  • Hot spot connection:

i have a htc incredible phone with the data plan (of course)  i want to add the hot spot feature 2G for $20.00 per month.  what kind of cable do i need  to connect it to my laptop from my phone.  i do not think that it came with a cord that fits into my phone and then has a usb cable on the other end?  thanks teddy 234

    Hello teddy234,
As always, it's my pleasure to assist in answering any concerns that you may have on our products and services. The mobile hot spot is an excellent service that I personally use with my other wireless devices. In my opinion, this is the most convenient form of internet access because you don't need a cord to use it. Once you have the feature added to your account, the setup process takes place right on the device. I have posted the steps below for your review if you have already subscribed to this service.
    1.  Press Menu and All Apps.
    2.  Select 3G Mobile Hotspot.
    3.  Change the Router Name and enter a network password (highly recommended)
    4.  Touch the Check Box to activate the mobile hotspot.
Once you have completed these steps then there will be a check next to mobile hotspot. Yes, it's THAT easy! Depending on what wi-fi enabled device you are using, laptop, Ipad, etc., there will be additional steps involved to join the hotspot network on that device. If you need assistance with connecting your wi-fi device to the hotspot then do not hesitate to reply back to this message for additional assistance.
    Thank you...

  • Hot spot connection fail to my i phone6

Hi I've got I phone 6 last week, and I've tried to use hot spot for my I-pad air.
I did turn off/on the Phone, I-pad, and network reset, however it does not change a thing.
What am I need to do to solve the problem??
    Thank You

Method-1: Steps to reset Wi-Fi settings
Step-1: Remove your settings for Wi-Fi such as DNS and password
Step-2: Open Settings app on the device
Step-3: Choose General>> Reset and press the option called Reset Network Settings [This will enable users to reset configuration for network.] (This will delete all network settings, returning them to factory settings.)
Step-4: Launch Settings again. The problem should be fixed and users should now be able to locate their personal Hotspot
Method-2: Steps to change APN Settings
Step-1: Navigate to Settings, choose General>> Network>> Cellular Data Network
Step-2: From Cellular Data Network, search for an option called Internet Tethering
    Step-3: Re-type APN and Username/Password [if required]
    All the best !

  • How to connect a time capsule with an ATT Elevate Hot Spot

    Hi,
Need help connecting my time capsule to my ATT Elevate Hot Spot....since I have no ethernet connection.
    Thanks!

Not sure how much we can help on this, but as a test, if you turn off the wireless on your MacBook and connect it to the router using an Ethernet cable, you should be able to log onto the Internet.
If you can, you know the Ethernet connection is working, and it will be a simple matter to connect the Time Capsule to the router and get it set up.
If you cannot get an Internet connection when you connect the Mac directly to the router, then more troubleshooting will be required.

  • Since downloading IOS 7.0 on my iPhone 4 I do not have the ability to connect to wifi.  I can't even move the on/off button at all. Also, the "personal hot spot"

Since downloading IOS 7.0 on my iPhone 4, I cannot connect to wifi. The button is greyed out, so I can't even turn it on. I can't download the upgraded version that fixes some of the bugs because you have to be able to connect to the internet to download it.  I also noticed that under "Settings", my Bluetooth and Personal Hot Spot settings are constantly roaming with the circle that just keeps going around and around. I've tried everthing (I think). It was directly related to the 7.0 download because it happened right away. Any ideas? I listen to a lot of eBooks when I commute each day and I need to connect to the internet to download the full versions. I miss my books!!

  • I am unable to fully connect to a wireless hot spot with Z10

I am unable to fully connect to a wireless hot spot at work with my z10. We use Cisco access points. Once connected to the AP, users are redirected to https://2.2.2.2/login.html this page allows users to type a username and password and then click a button to gain full Internet access. Using the  z10 to connect to the AP  redirects me to the secure page but then throws the error:
    "Site Identity Not Verifiable"
I then select Expand to continue and am able to add the site as an exception but then I get asecond error:
    "Unknown network error 3RFINA".
I believe it's most likely due to the self-signed cert that the AP is using to secure the http traffic. I use to see this issue on my previous blackberry devices and playbook prior to some recent OS updates, but I am not sure what the exact fix was.  If you try to accept the error and there no prompt to install the cert as seen on my previous devices.
I am able to connect to the same AP with my laptop, Playbook, and Bold 9900, iPod and android devices without issue. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas? Since the AP is not mine I am really looking for a transparent client-side solution.
    Thanks

    Same here...
I guess the problem is invalid certificate in web authlogin page.
Even when I add a excepetion, I still geting this same error 3RFINA.
I remember when I had Android 1.6 I receive similar error, but when upgraded to 2.1 the errors was gone and I was able to authenticate in wifi connection here in that government build.
Now, when I came to BB Z10, I a kind of disapointed to get same error. I now its concern by security and the guilty in that history probably is IT who admin this network for using a invalid certificate (the validation date appears in browser is a kind of funny... says its valid from 2027 to 2039)

  • We traded our home internet service for a Sprint Hot Spot.  The hot spot does not have an ethernet port to connect through.  Can we connect our time capsule to the wireless hot spot?

Hello, we switched our home internet service from an ethernet modem to a wireless hot spot.
Do you know if there is a way to connect our time capsule to the hot spot?
Everything I read only suggests connecting through an ethernet cable.  I'm hoping there is a way to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!!!

No you can't join a wireless hotspot with a Time Capsule directly via it's 'join' option (tried and failed - well to be exact it kinda works but the Time Capsule's ethernet ports no longer work).
What you can do is buy an airport express and use it's 'join' option to connect to the iPhone's hotspot. Then you connect the airport express via ethernet to the time capsule (in bridge-mode).
You can then connect your computers to the time capsule via ethernet or use it's wireless function to set up wireless network (with a different name to that of the hotspot) that your wifi stuff can connect to.
