Hot Spot over Image Map

Not sure about a "highlight" - I use a roll over tool tip with a brief description - I use 130 hot spots with roll over tips on one diagram alone (hot spots link to entries in a table).

  • Hot spots pushing image down

This is probably a noob question but when I inset hot spots
into an image it pushes the image that is placed directly next to
it down to the next line. I'm not sure why it is doing this and is
there anyway to have hot spots and not bump the image down below
the one that is being editied? Thanks

  • Hot Spot over Dial Up?

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the iphone. I noticed they offer a hot spot feature which I assume can power the internet for my macbook. Right now I have a wireless modem from ATT for just $14 per month. As you can guess it's terrible (slow and disconnects frequently). I used to have Comcast Cable but $65 month was a lot. So how will I like the Hot Spot if I get it? How fast will my computer's internet run?

This is most likely a cascade issue. Some other rule with a
    higher
specificity is interfering. Click in the link in DW's Design
    view and
examine the cascade of rules in the CSS panel to see which
    rule is applying
    to the link.

Don't fall in love with custom classes. Go back to the
    tutorial and
understand how to use Descendent selectors instead, e.g.,
    #foo a { ... }
    rather than -
    a.class { ... }

  • Hot spot in a map

    Hello,
I have a map of different territories which i have drawn on a Jpanel using the drawPolygon. I am trying to display a text on the map when the user does a mouse over on each territory.
Currently i achieve this by keeping track of the mouseMoved event of the panel and then do a calculation to check if point is within the boundaries and then display the appropriate text.
I find this to be processor intensive and to take too long for instantaneous display.
Can anyone suggest a workaround ? Is there anyway to define a HotSpot for each of these territories so that they trigger a different event?

  • CFDocument Image Maps

We've run into issues using client image maps in CFDocument.
We're able to render the image maps fine, and when we use a fixed
image size like 800x600, they work fine:
    <img src="/express/cache/#imagename#" class="map"
    usemap="##map1" border="1" width="800" height="600"/>
However, when we attempt to use percentages to get the image
to scale to the size of the whole page,
    <img src="/express/cache/#imagename#" class="map"
    usemap="##map1" border="1" width="100%" height="100%"/>
we get a ColdFusion error, as follows:
An exception occurred when performing document processing.
The cause of this exception was that:
    coldfusion.document.spi.DocumentExportException:
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "100%".
Taking out the map reference makes this work as expected.
So, okay, the parser must be getting confused because it
doesn't know how to lay out the image map with the x% scaling.
We'll just use the exact size of the image to scale it to the size
we want... This is when we run into another issue: We can't seem to
accurately size images in CFDocument. When we set the image to
1024x768 (or something like that), the image renders at the exact
same size! (The underlying PNG is actually 2400 x 1800).
    So, the questions are:
    1) Is there any way to dynamically scale the image and use
    image maps in CFDocument, or
    2) How in the world does the image scaling work (in the black
    box)?
We just want to have a full screen mapped image that we can
use as a TOC for our CFDocument.
    Thanks!

    John,
the Robohelp built-in editor messes the code up, so I never
use it. However, not even Dreamweaver supports interactive effects
in image maps. I wanted the hot spots to hover like hyperlinks.
Seems to me much more convenient for the user.
    quote:
I'm not sure what you are trying to do when you say "the area
tag cannot be formatted using CSS." What kind of formatting do you
want on a piece of an image?
Unfortunately, you cannot use the hover attribute in css for
the <area href> tag. That is, why you need a more complicated
solution for interactive hot spots in image maps.
My first solution had some flaws. Eventually, I found this
    smart piece of Javascript:
    http://www.netzgesta.de/mapper/
This really did the trick and works great. The script is free
of charge for non-commercial use only.

  • Drop-Down Hot Spot Images

    Hi,
When I generate a SSL Print out of topics that use Drop-down
Hot Spots with images in them, the images print out. I do not want
them to print out. I have tried the Advanced Options and unchecked
"Include drop-down text" and they still print.
If there isn't a easy way to stop them from printing, is
there a way to stop the text from getting messed up by wraping to
the right of the image, it would be better to have it start at the
    bottom.

You could try adding a conditional build tag against them and
excluding this from your printed output single source layout. I
haven't tried this so can't say it would work for definite but it's
    worth a go.

  • 508-compliant hot spots impossible?

I'm trying to reach a definitive answer for a decision on
whether to purchase/recommend Captivate to my client.
I trying to create Section 508-compliant hot spots over an
existing screen shot (i.e., to simulate text hyperlinks that a
screen reader such as JAWS will read). Exploring my options with
click boxes and buttons, here's what I've found:
    1. Click boxes do not allow alternative text.
    2. Text buttons are the only button type that allows
alternate text, but the text cannot be made transparent, so they
are useless if I want to use them as hot spots.
Therefore, I've concluded Captivate cannot simulate text
hyperlinks that will be read by a screen reader. Can anyone prove
    me wrong?

Clinton, thanks for the suggestion of trying NetSpot. The application sounds like it might be helpful for general network assessment although I'm not sure if it can provide much assistance in this situation.
I believe the internet connectivity issues I'm experiencing have more to do with whatever kind of "sensing"  that the router/hotspot uses. Generally when I go to a new hotspot, after choosing it in my list of avalable networks, a hotspot window will automatically open asking for my agreement to the terms of useage. That never happened at the hotspot I was having trouble with. I was able to choose the hotspot, had an excellent signal strength and was assigned an IP but never got any further than that.
So I'm not sure what NetSpot will be able to do for me in that situation but I'll download it and try it.

  • Using Roll Over Images for Hots Spots in DW CS 5

Ok  I had this sort of working .. but
what i am trying to do is have pictures pop up when the mouse rollovers a hot spot.   I do this with two layers and using the behavior window
The full project is at http://www.kasdivi.com/pages/map.html...  ( thought that might be better then posting code)   The issue is in the left hand top of the map wjere you see malmok  (Col H Row 2)or Boka Bartol (also Col H Row )
you have to move down the page before the image will show
I though there might be something in that area mapping as if you leave map in topmost position and mouse over Boka Onima (Column M row 5) the image pops up fine
I tried to restart with a simpler test www.kasdivi.com/testmap.html
the supposedly live hot spots are at Malmok (H2 ) and Boka Onima (M5)  but it this test nothing works
I think I am doing something baically wrong
    any guidance will be appreciated

  • Image Map Hot Spot

  • Roll over effect with hot spots

    Hello,
I have created a state map with city locations. If you roll
your mouse over a specific city, the entire map/graphic should
change over to the graphic with the specified city location address
information. At first I thought to create buttons, but that won't
work because I need the state map to have hot spots for each city.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    MonaE

I'm not sure what you mean regarding "it" will change to the
image, but I am not talking about a single button. I mean have a
button over each city to act as the hotspot. Interacting with a
given button will trigger whatever as far as showing the office
    location image goes.
Depending how you go about it, you could make the "over"
state of the button be the office location image, while the normal
state and hit area are defined as just the name area on the
    California map.

  • Multiple "hot spots," one rollover image

Im building an online artist's portfolio website and trying
to lay out a dozen thumbnail images that when rolled over trigger a
corresponding image to appear to the left of the thumbnails. All
hot spots trigger the same image to change. Any advice on how to
    achieve this?

I went through the steps KenRogers2 suggested, and when I
first click on "+" under the behaviors tab I get error message #
61878. After clicking ok the behaviors tab opens. After going
through the steps and previewing in Safari (Im running OSX 10.4.8)
all I get is the hot link hand over the thumbnail, but no rollover
image replaces the default. Any ideas?
I've also recently downloaded an update for dreamweaver and
have been getting a jave error when I try to open any file, but
everything seems normal after I hit ok. Not sure that has anything
to do with the other error, just thought I'd throw it out
    there..

  • How to use the same image map over and over

Sorry, I posted this a couple of years ago and got a good answer by Murray. I'm so rusty with it, I can understand how it works anymore.
    Question:
I have a large jpeg image map for a hundred pages. The jpegs are all the same except I changed the city name for each one.
So for each corresponding htm page, the 4-5 links out are the same.
Waht is the trick to not have to create by hand hotspots? thanks.
I have previous notes, but I don't understand anymore, (too rusty) what they mean:
The good news is that you really don't need a template at all.
Just open one of your existing pages in DW, select that central image, browse to select the correct replacement image, and save the page with a new name.  It will have all of the image maps already there, from the original image.  One and done as they say."
    My old interpretation of this:
select the large jpeg and then in link field drag over to the new city jpeg

Ok, Nancy, code copy/ paste did work fine.
    what does this mean:
"Change the image in the properties panel to display your new image."
    (the image is displaying ok)
NEverthesless, I think I got Murrays old notes.
Here is my new version of Murrays writing, easiest way I think:
You open up a pre-existing html, say Chicago. Then drag over with pointer to the new jpeg you want (Buffalo). It replaces Chicago with the buffalo jpeg, all links work perfectly. Then do a save as called Buffalo.

  • How to create a hot spot for a browser filled image?

I have a background image created in Photoshop in the browser fill, scale to fill.
This is my landing page and would like to create a hot spot or "invisible" rectangle to link to another page in my site when clicked.
I have this done and working, however, my problem is that when my browser size is enlarged or reduced, the spot where I want the hot spot to be changes in size and location.
I want to create a hot spot that will keep its form around my logo no matter the screen size.
I have tried this with a no fill box and white stroke to see how it reacts with each fill property but cannot figure out how to create a box to be in a fixed position that will always match up
with the browser fill image location and size.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Have you tried to pin the box on page so that it should be in fixed position ?
Also if want the box to be on some specific position with page scroll, then you can try applying scroll effects which would scroll the box on page but within defined positions.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Image as Hot-Spot

    Hi all........
I had created a screen and displayed an image in a container.........
can i make it as hot-spot.
i.e- by clicking on this image another screen should be called.  Is it possible.......????????

    Hi,
I don't think it is possible to make it as a hotspot. But you have a event in the class
cl_gui_picture which is 'picture_click' by using this event you can overcome the issue you have
that is by clicking on the picture trigger this event and then call another screen.
    Thanks&Regards

  • How can I place an image hot spot on top of a ap div with an image in the background of the ap div?

    It won't let me

Right. You can't make an image map out of a background.  You must insert the image directly into the page (HTML markup).  Then apply hotspot tools to the image.
