Hot sync looping in Calendar - I have no backup

This used to work until about a week ago.  I've reinstalled Palm OS a few times, so I now have NO backups.  So I don't think a reset, hard or soft is an option, right?  I have a Zire 72, and my laptop is Windows Vista 64-bit.  I have the right Palm OS (6.2) so it does start synching.  Also the sync is done via Bluetooth only.  But it never gets past calendar, and it takes forever to cancel.  THere are other suggestions that the backup is corrupted, but since I have no backup, that can't be the problem.  Is something in Calendar corrupted, and if so, how do I figure out what it is?
thanks!

Suggest you download and install the utility DbFixIt from www.pimlicosoftware.com.  It will scan your handheld for corrupted or damaged databases, or "blobs" of bad data which could be interfering with Hotsync.  You can then delete whatever it finds...or the registered version (about $14) will repair them.  Since you can't Hotsync, you'll have to copy the .prc file onto a SD card and run it from there.
Good luck.

  • Why can't I hot sync my outlook calendar with my ipod touch?

Since I bought my ipod touch I have used Outlook calendar, notes & contacts.  I have never had a problem syncing those programs.  After the first of this 1 1/2 years of using my ipod touch, it started not syncing the outlook calendar but my outlook notes & contacts still sync.  I have tried resetting it, restoring it, deleting outlook and reinstalling it, unmarking to sync with outlook and explorer in itunes and then checking it to sync with outlook again.  I have an extended warranty with Walmart where I bought it, and I sent it to them.  They sent it back saying nothing is wrong with the ipod (which I told them on the phone) because everything else works.  I have searched Microsoft & Apple for answers to this but I have found nothing.  It seemed to stop syncing the calendar after the 1st of the year and  I have been trying to fix this problem since then.  Does anyone have a clue as to why or how to fix this problem?

In this case you would have to add this account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud" for email, calendars, contacts, reminders etc. After you have finished checking emails, etc. you can delete your account in the same way.

  • Slow Sync for Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Bookmarks but Backup is quick!

My Itunes/Iphone4 takes 18 minutes to sync just the Contacts, Calender, Bookmarks, and Notes, derived from Win XP SP3 and Outlook 2007. I don't have a large amount of Data in the them. The "Backup" process runs quickly as does the copying process when I add media. I have compacted the outlook.pst file to about 130Mb in size. I have erased the Content off of the Iphone and re-loaded it, to no resolve. Also it may be worthy to note that the PC I attempting to do this on, was recently formatted and a clean re-install of the OS and software was just done a week prior to this problem arising.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or have any solutions that I can try?

I just noticed that if I switch Itunes to the Mini-player, the sync will only take about 2 minutes. I just wish Apple would get these type of bugs out of Itunes.

  • Sync multiple google calendars with iPhone

You will not find this option on your iPhone calendar settings.
You will not find this option on your Google calendar settings.
The only way to sync all the calendars you have linked to your google account - not just the primary one - is to go to this URL:
    https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect
After you are done clicking on each calendar click SAVE. Give your iPhone a few minutes to sync up. I am told from others that the max is 25 calendars, although that is not stated on the web page.
I think it's interesting that Google doesn't include this option right on the calendar settings section. Nor could I find the answer in any of the apply forums.

Sorry Julian, there was another part of this about the iCloud alert syncs between iPhone and iCloud and Google that I ended up clipping and posting in another spot and forgot to change the forum I was in when I spoted. First time doing this, and sans coffee, not sure if I can change the forum assignment retroactively.

  • Restore Palm Desktop Addresses from last Hot Sync and using those backup files

I have numerous issues.  First I have Windows Vista 64 byte which does not allow a USB Hot Sync so I attempted the Wireless Hot Sync and killed my Palm Centro.  The information was restores going to the store and they did something.  So that is my first issues - I am unable to Hot Sync.  However the Hot Sync took place and I have found the 'Back-up' files on my Computer from that Hot Sync Operation.
My new issue is that somehow I lost many addresses on my Palm Desktop Address File and that is a mystery to me.
What I am trying to accomplish now is to restore those missing addresses on my Palm Desktop (Computer Files) using if possible those backed up files from the last Hot Sync as i do not believe I should try the Wireless Hot Sync again since that has failed me twice and my phone dies and it needs to be restored at the Sprint store.  I'm not even sure I remember now how exactly that was done....
So, is there a way to restore addresses to my computer Palm Desktop from those back-up files from the Hot Sync?  OR does anyone have a solution to actually performing this Wireless Hot Sync without killing  my Palm Centro again?
Thank you for any ideas or suggestions to either or both issues.

You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. Using 6.2 the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. For 6.2, the files are located in the username folder in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.

  • Can iCalendar sync with google calendar?

Can iCalnedar sync wth google calendar?

Have been using BusyCal app (a paid app), in order to handle this bridge and have the ability to "publish" my syncing Google Calendar to a website...  Anyone know if iCal (thru iCloud) now gets along with Google calendar (MULTIPLE 8+ sub-calendars) to keep events syncing?.... Don't want to upgrade to OS until I find out that my BusyCal has been replaced with a reliable replacement...

If the hard drive that crashed is the one that stored the itunes library, be sure to restore the library from Time Machine (mac) or whatever backup you use on windows.  That will get back your music.  I suspect that the replacement drive has an empty itunes library and thus, perhaps, the itunes match used that to sync to its servers.

  • How can I sync Iphone to a PC calendar then have multiple users share that calendar? Is there an application that does that?

How can I sync Iphone to a PC calendar then have multiple users share that calendar? Is there an application that does that?

If it is actually an exchange calendar, and it's not linked to a specific user, it should be possible to simply add the exchange account to each device in question and have that exchange account only sync the calendar.  Then every user has access to the same calendar and can add/edit entries to the calendar as needed.
The same would apply if it were a Google calendar added via Exchange.
If the calendar is not actually on Exchange, but rather added from an outside source, it will depend on that outside source where the calendar originates.

  • Upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

I recently installed a new hard drive in a MacBook 2007 and then 10.6.3. I'd like to be able to Sync iCal to the calendars I have created on other devices (new iCloud account and an ME account). I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • What is the best way to have Mac setup for sync-ing 2 calendars?  Any way to change? When we 1st got our Macbook we unknowingly set it up wrong--as 2 separate users, with separate everything. Good for contacts and email, bad for calendar, photos, music.

I'm not sure what you mean by the times get switched around, but you migh check on both mac and device in the Time & Date section of preferences/settings to be sure they are both in the same time zone.
