Hot Synch and Mac OS 10.4.11

My Palm m505 recently ran out of power... I plugged it ito the cradle for recharging..
I had to hit the 'reset' on the rear in order to get it up and going... but quicly found that my favourite application had "disappeared" and I returned it to the cradle and depressed tha Hot Synch button. A minute or so later I get a 'screen' indicating that my m505 was unable to communicate. I have tried to make sure that the handheld is secure in the cradle but keep getting the "unable to connect" screen.
I am kind of 'lost' without that application that has gone amiss... and would appreciate any and all positive suggestions to have it up and running again.

There is not. It requires 10.5.8 or later.

Hot Synch Problems with Centro and Computer

Transfered phone numbers from old phone and added three months of dates on the calendar. Hot Synched and it transferred to my laptop. Went back to Verizon and they beamed my PalmVx info into phone. Got all the addresses and phone numbers, but it wiped out the calendar. Now it will not hot synch the old phone numbers and addresses onto the laptop nor will it transfer the calendar data to the Centro. Help!

Sure. 877-426-3777. It should transfer information from the PC to the Centro and back. The question is would then be where are you syncing too? The Palm Desktop or Outlook?
If the Palm Desktop is the usermenu, (top right hand corner) set to the same user that displays out hotsync on the Centro?

Hot Synch issue-accidently synch with another person

Some help would be great. I accidently hot synched with a friend's computer. Now her name is at the top of my Palm screen when I try to hot synch, and also on my palm desktop hot synch. I am unable to hot synch anything. What should I do?? I tried to restart, and her name is still there. what do I do?? Thank you

Was this the first Hotsync you have ever done? There really isn't a way you can "accidentally" HotSync to another name. A blank device will trigger Palm Desktop to ask you "Create a New User" or "Use and Existing Account". You will have to pick one of the options. If you chose the latter and picked her name, then that's where all the info came from.
Hard Reset your device to start over again. When you HotSync to your computer, pick "Create a New User" and choose a name you wish.

Hot Synch Crashed

It happened again. While performing a hot synch my screen went blank, I restarted my computer and the message comes up that "hot synch app had to close". I followed last set of instructions for a clean uninstall, deleted the proper reg keys, rebooted. When I try to reinstall when it gets to the hot synch, the same message comes on. This happened a couple of times since the last time i had to do a clean uninstall, but when i turned the computer back on it just said "hot synch has just recovered from a crash some of your data might not be backed up". I just performed another hot synch and everything was fine. This time though hot synch will not turn on.

Go through the same clean uninstall instructions again. If needed I can provide them. After you are done try installing Palm Desktop 4.1.4e version and see if you get the same results. We recommend if you are using XP, maintain the 4x software. The Palm Desktop 6.2 was built mostly for Vista. I am a long time Palm enthusiast who is frustrated. No more Palm products for me or anyone I speak to until I solve this problem. Someone at Palm should be paying attention to their long time cusotmers. I bought Palms in 2002 and 2003.
The support literature coming with two Treo 755p that I bought was so poor that never saw the fine print that there was three months of support if I registered the devices. The registration page does not let me register. All the fields are ghosted after I put in the serial number. I bought one in June 2008 and the other in early 2008. So never registered and can get no help from Palm now it seems.
So beside that gripe below is the problem issue info.
I can't get a Verizon Treo 755p to USB cable Hot Synch with my daughters 17" Mac Pro Laptop. It is using OS 10.5x She lives in another city so I am trouble shooting this remotely.
Did - Revd Palm upgrage has been installed.

Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications.
That process worked however on my own Treo 755p Verizon as below:
After much work, hours over several months, I got my my Treo 755p Verizon to Hot Synch with a QuickSilver desk top Mac running os 10.5x.
Did the RevD upgrade.
Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications. Otherwise the Wireless Synch feature prevents a Hot Synch.
Once those both were done than Hot Synch works fine, and Wireless Synch works fine and does not interfere.
The Wireless on both PDAs is scheduled to be removed on both Treos due the economy on Feb. 4th, so I would like the HotSynch to be working so her Treo is backed up.

Works now, she had created a user ID as prompted when installing the HotSynch Software, but it was not the same name of the Treo 755p. The default ID was the one she from installing the software, so it showed nothing in address or contacts, but when she switched to the Treo ID than all her stuff was there.

Zire 71 and MAC - HotSynch freezes Synching Note Pad

I have an IMAC O/S 10.5.6 and when I try to do a Hot Synch the application starts and then freezes at synching Note Pad. An icon for the Conduit Manager is on the dock and this is what freezes. This is a new problem. I have to do a Force Quit to end the application. I had done hot synchs previously that had worked. The only application that I installed recently was a Maxtor backup system. I would appreciate any help to solve this problem.

How about try to remove the Notepad folder by dragging it to the desktop?..... from this path: Mac HD / Users/ (Mac Username)/ Documents / Palm / Users/ (your Hotsync ID)/
It contains notepad.dat and notepad.bak which contains probably the corrupted file. Or you may set the notepad conduit to Handheld overwrites the Mac.

Hot Synch with Windows XP and MS Office 2007

I can not synchronize my Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Windows XP Home and MS Office 2007.
I see several comments regarding Outlook 2007. Is resolving the synchronization of Outlook 2007 the same solution as Office 2007?
If so what is the solution?

I also cannot synch my Palm Treo 680 unlocked with Outlook 07 using Vista. It says "Hot Synch Operation Completed Successfully", but nothing did synch. I downloaded palmoutlook07conduits.zip and there was no change. I was synching wirelessly using Microsoft Exchange Active Synch without problems, but when I cancelled my 'data' package on my cell phone, it no longer was synching. I tried reloading my original Palm CD, but it doesn't allow me to select 'Outlook' as my connectivity. Please help. And please don't provide me with a bunch of acronyms as I won't understand them!!!!

Hot Synch problems with cradle and Palm Vx

I had to hard boot my Palm Vx for digitizing errors. Now I can't get the pda and Hot Synch Manager to work.
How do I set up the pda so if talks to the Palm 414EN.exe desktop download. I have the old cradle attached
to a serial port on my work PC.

Hello Jay and welcome to the Palm forums.
The trick is that once you have installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4, in the HotSync Manager, you use the Setup... menu item to configure HotSync Manager to listen to the COM/serial port your cradle is connected to. I had my Vx configured to use COM1 on my Windows 2000 box.
Also, make sure that your Windows user account is a member of the Windows administrators security group before you attempt to install Palm Desktop.

Windows has a software updater built into Windows and when you install the Boot Camp drivers then it will install an Apple software updater also. I believe Windows is set to automatically download and install your updates as does the Apple software Updater. They both will update the individual files it needs to periodically.
"Microsoft updates" and "Windows updates" are basically the same thing in Windows. Are you talking about the "Windows support software" when downloading from Boot Camp Assistant? Apple installs a software updater for it's Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7 so you can do it manually or automatically.
The "Hot Fix" your referring to is only for certain motherboards built from other Windows only computer manufacturers and does NOT pertain to any Apple computers.

It looks like you haven't got them on iCloud. On your Mac, open Pages and drag the Word documents to the iCloud window

HT3574 bluetooth and hot spot iphone5 to Ipad 2 and Mac????

Hi, I just got an Iphone 5 and first of all I am not able to pair my Ipad and Mac to the Iphone with Bluetooth. I also just got the personal hotspot on the Iphone 5 but I doesn't work with bluetooth, nor with USB clabe and neither with the other network.

I do not use bluetooth - Should I. I am using the hot spot capability with the new Ipad Air in the same way that I used it with my Mac Book pro. I have reset the connection but not restored the IOS as yet since it is only one month old. I have the new Air. I thought that the connection was supposed to use cellular data "on" and "personal hot spot on" that enables the phone to act like a WiFi connection similar to a router we have at home. I learned from a discussion with Apple that the Ipad once it goes to sleep will disconnect from the network.
To be clear I - I got the Ipad to use as an internet/mail connection using the Iphone hot spot in lieu of lugging along the Mac Book Pro.
Hopefully that clarifies any issues. I will not really know until I go back to my New Mexico House is signal strength is an issue. I think not

My iPad and Mac aren't synching. It used to automatically with iCloud.

My iPad and Mac dont seem to be synching with iCloud. Also, when I connected the iPad via the USB it stayed on Step 2 of the synching process and never got past there.

I found the answer... to disable "Find my iPad" first before trying to delete the iCloud account, and the password was accepted. When I tried deleting the iCloud account before disabling "Find my iPad", the password wasn´t accepted.

I have been using iCloud since it came out to coordinate my schedules from my phone, ipad and Mac laptop. Last week they stopped synching...I can't upgrade b/c of memory. Could this cause the problem?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

HT201640 My Mac Becomes very hot easily and fan keeps running even without running any apps

My MacBook Pro Mid 2012 Retina recently get hot easily and the fan just keeps running even with low work load.
For example, right now, I just have Safari opened. (only one webpage opened, which is this) and my keeps running. the laptop gets hot.
If w/o the adapter connected, it can only last 1.5 hrs.
wehen clicked on the battery symbol on the menu bar, under the "Apps Using Significant Energy'" it says Safari.
Even sometimes, I have no apps open, the fan will still be running. and there is no apps using significant energy...........
what is wrong with my mac? I tried System Management Reset couple times, it does not help....
and all my apps/OS are updated! I dont have too many apps (only 30) installed on my mac.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
           ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
          Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
          Caches/com.apple.Safari
          Caches/com.apple.Safari.SearchHelper
          Caches/com.apple.SafariServices
          Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
          Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
          Caches/Metadata/Safari
          Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
          Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
          Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If the problem is solved, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have a problem, continue.
Step 2
Move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
          Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
          Internet Plug-Ins
          Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Safari.*.plist
          Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
          Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
          Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
          Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
          PubSub/Database
          Safari
          SyncedPreferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Here, "*" stands for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
Note 1: You are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”
Note 2: This step will remove your Safari extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to reinstall them, do so one at a time, testing each time to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
Try again. Your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
          File ▹ Import Bookmarks...
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in Step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you don’t like the results of the last step, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

Synch iphone with icloud and mac?

I am having problems with trying to find instruction on how to achieve synch for my contacts using iCloud, iphone and Mac.
Is there any information available on this?
If so, where??

This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Contacts (Address Book).
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
