Hot synch Palm Vx

I have a Palm Vx on a Windows XPpro system. It was working fine and hot synching fine until about 2 months ago when a virus came in and I had tech guy reformatt the hd. He loaded desktop 6.2. I don't remember what version i had before it was reformatted. It might have been 6.2
Now, the Palm says it is synching ok but when I open up desktop 6.2 I don't see any of my memos or phone information that I used to see.
I cannot tell if the desktop 6.2 is looking at the file flocation where the synch says it is putting the files.
I CANNOT lose what is on my Vx. I've told my kids that when I die, forget about me but find my Palm! I still love it!!
Is the desktop 6.2 compatible with a Vx? should I try to go back to 4.1.4? I cannot find my original installation CD.
Help!
Post relates to: Palm Vx

I suggest you revert to Palm Desktop 4.1.4.
In the alternative, there is a utility available from pimlicosoftware.com called PalmHotsyncSetup which makes Palm Desktop 6.2 compatible with older Palm devices.  But PD 6.2 was released for Windows Vista and later computers, and there is no reason for you to be using it.
Good luck!

  • Hot Synch Palm VIIx - Macintosh Unsuccessful

I have spent a  considerable amount of time looking through the various threads looking to see if I could get the HotSynch of my Palm Pilot VIIx to work on my Mac Powerbook G4 and have thus far been unsuccessful.
    I have a PowerBook G4 Mac OS X version 10.4.11
I recently installed the Palm software from the Palm website for Mac version 4.2.1
Palm Pilot VIIx version 3.5 with the Serial Cable
Keyspan USA-19HS which others on the forum have said works. I installed the drivers, I think - correctly as I am a novice at all of this computer stuff.
How do I know if I have revision A or D installed as I do not recall which one I downloaded?  As it looks like revision A supports the VII series, and from what I can see version D does not.
When I hit the HotSynch on the palm it opens the hotsynch progress window with a status of Establishing connection.  I do not get any beeps. The green led on the usb to serial adapter blinks 2 times then goes solid green.  After a period of time the palm will beep and bring up a message box saying that the Connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again.  I have checked numerous items as outlined in many of the other posts to no avail. In the HotSync software set up window the button is clicked on for HotSynch enabled.  In the status window it says: HotSynch software is enabled. To disable the HotSynch software, click the "disabled" radio button above. Listening on usa19h3b1p1.-port.
I know that the cable and the palm will hotsynch as I have been using this serial cable with a different usb to serial adapter to successfully synch to my PC.
Right now I can not remember all of the other things that I have tried, but many of them were on the threads for the Palm V.
Thanks in advance for your kind suggestions and assistance.

  • Hot Synching Palm Z22 with 64 bit Windows 7

I just purchased a new Sony Vaio running 64 bit Windows 7 and I'm unable to Hot Sync my Palm Z22 to my computer.  I've been a Palm user for years, with my current one being my 3rd model and it's been my lifeline but I'm highly agitated and frustrated that the Palm folks haven't posted any updates to handle my current situation.  Everything I read here indicates spending additional money to go the infrared route and some people aren't even having success while others struggled a long time to make it eventually sync.  Does anyone out there have an identical situation as mine, who'd be willing to give me sound advice as to what I need to do and how to do it in order to get my Palm to communicate with my 64 bit Windows 7 platform?  Thank you to anyone who's able to assist.

    @MrCobol:
This subject has been discussed and beaten to death in many other threads here.  The facts (again) are:
    1. Palm sold the rights to Palm Desktop many years ago.  Railing against Palm/HP makes no sense.  If you want an update, complain to Access of Japan.  They are the owners of the software, and they chose to drop the ball.
    2. Many other companies have struggled to come up with 64bit drivers for their existing software (that they actually own!)
    3. Palm OS devices were EOL'd quite a while ago.  They were supported through Vista 32 bit.  Microsoft changed things, and you chose to buy a 64bit system.  HPalm has moved on to a whole new OS and devices, and support for PalmOS is nearing an end.
Yes, it would have been great if Access stepped up to the "plat" and provided a 64bit version of Palm Desktop, but that didn't happen.  Workarounds have been provided on this forum by devoted users, and they do work!

When I hotsync, and the display pops up, I seem to have some double items....
My previous problem (fixed by dbfixit as suggested on this forum) was the hot sync was stalling on the second date book.
I see that when it's hotsyncing, it is checking off one at a time...
Should I delete the duplicates and how do I do that.  (they are not listed as duplicates on my hand held that I can see.
All this is hard work for me, so appreciate this forum and all your help.  sdm

  • Hot Synch problems with cradle and Palm Vx

I had to hard boot my Palm Vx for digitizing errors.  Now I can't get the pda and Hot Synch Manager to work.
How do I set up the pda so if talks to the Palm 414EN.exe desktop download.  I have the old cradle attached
to a serial port on my work PC.

    Post relates to: Palm Vx

Hello Jay and welcome to the Palm forums.
The trick is that once you have installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4, in the HotSync Manager, you use the Setup... menu item to configure HotSync Manager to listen to the COM/serial port your cradle is connected to.  I had my Vx configured to use COM1 on my Windows 2000 box.
Also, make sure that your Windows user account is a member of the Windows administrators security group before you attempt to install Palm Desktop.
    Hope that helps,
    Alan G

  • Hot synch problem with Palm TX

I entered some new contacts on Microsoft Outlook and two new categories of contacts. When I hot synch with my Palm TX the new contacts appear but the two new categories do not appear.  Does the Palm TX have a limit on the number of Contact Categories it will handle?  I have 15 Categories at present in Outlook.

According to the Palm Knowledgebase, 15 is the maximum (not counting All and Unfiled).
    Details here:

It states any more than 15 will be lumped together into "Unfiled".

  • T|X hot synched to Windows 7. Bluetooth hot sync deleted all info on Palm creating .bin file on PC.

I realize the subject line may be a bit wordy...
I tried installing Palm Desktop on Windows 7 PC with partial success.  It appeared the Hot Sync Manager was operating, but the Palm Desktop would not load properly.  I tried hot synching using Bluetooth.  Hot sync deleted all information on Palm and created .bin file on PC.
Is it possible to retrieve info from .bin file and reinstall on Palm?

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
I have never heard or read about Palm Desktop creating a .bin file from a botched Hotsync.  If the Hotsync did not complete and the data is wiped from your handheld, I am not optimistic about restoring the data.  Do you not have the data backed up via Hotsync on a different computer?

  • Hot Synch with Windows XP and MS Office 2007

I can not synchronize my Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Windows XP Home and MS Office 2007.
I see several comments regarding Outlook 2007. Is resolving the synchronization of Outlook 2007 the same solution as Office 2007?
If so what is the solution?

  • Hot Synch does not work, Treo 755p, USB, 17" Mac Pro Laptop, even with RevD installed and Allow other HotSynch applications preference check box checked

    Hi,
I am a long time Palm enthusiast who is frustrated.  No more Palm products for me or anyone I speak to until I solve this problem.  Someone at Palm should be paying attention to their long time cusotmers.  I bought Palms in 2002 and 2003.
The support literature coming with two Treo 755p that I bought was so poor that never saw the fine print that there was three months of support if I registered the devices.  The registration page does not let me register.  All the fields are ghosted after I put in the serial number.  I bought one in June 2008 and the other in early 2008.  So never registered and can get no help from Palm now it seems.
So beside that gripe below is the problem issue info.
I can't get a Verizon Treo 755p to USB cable Hot Synch with my daughters 17" Mac Pro Laptop.  It is using OS 10.5x  She lives in another city so I am trouble shooting this remotely.
Did - Revd Palm upgrage has been installed.
    PalmDesktopMac421Revd.dmg (17MB)
    http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=4518,E=0000000000255177998,K=6239,Sxi=3,case=obj(33...
Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications.
That process worked however on my own Treo 755p Verizon as below:
After much work, hours over several months, I got my my Treo 755p Verizon to Hot Synch with a QuickSilver desk top Mac running os 10.5x.
    Did the RevD upgrade.
Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications.   Otherwise the Wireless Synch feature prevents a Hot Synch.
Once those both were done than Hot Synch works fine, and Wireless Synch works fine and does not interfere.
The Wireless on both PDAs is scheduled to be removed on both Treos due the economy on Feb. 4th, so I would like the HotSynch to be working so her Treo is backed up.
Thanks so much to anyone who replies to help out.

Works now, she had created a user ID as prompted when installing the HotSynch Software, but it was not the same name of the Treo 755p.  The default ID was the one she from installing the software, so it showed nothing in address or contacts, but when she switched to the Treo ID than all her stuff was there.

  • Hot Synch won't turn on

I have a Palm Centro (Verizon).  While performing a hot Synchronization my computer screen went blank.  I had to unplug & remove battery to restart my computer.  When I opened the palm desktop, my data was there except my contacts.  My phone still has contact list up to date as well as everything else.  The problem know is Hot Synch won't open and I get an error message saying " Hot Synch Manager had to close, do I wish to send an error report.  When I go to program files, Palm, Synchronization - The same message appears.  Not sure what happened or how to get hot synch turned back on.  I tried uninstalling all software and reinstalling, but nothing works.  Even did a computer restore, but nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, it looks like your datebook has corruption. When it "hangs" on a PIM conduit, it usually is caused by corruption, blobs in the calendar, records without data that was there at one point in time.
There may be database corruption causing the issue. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
When you install the program, set the conduit for datebook to do nothing. Run the trial version and it will show the corrupted records. You can then fix the records manually or purchase the program and have it repair the database for you. The program is only $12.95 but is invaluable when it comes to repairing the database. You should also run the scan for calendar blobs.
After the repair of the database on the Centro, set the conduits in hotsync manager to handheld overwrites desktop.

  • Hot Synch Problems with Centro and Computer

Transfered phone numbers from old phone and added three  months of dates on the calendar.  Hot Synched and it transferred to my laptop.  Went back to Verizon and they beamed my PalmVx info into phone.  Got all the addresses and phone numbers, but it wiped out the calendar.  Now it will not hot synch the old phone numbers and addresses onto the laptop nor will it transfer the calendar data to the Centro.  Help!

Sure. 877-426-3777.  It should transfer information from the PC to the Centro and back. The question is would then be where are you syncing too? The Palm Desktop or Outlook?
If the Palm Desktop is the usermenu, (top right hand corner) set to the same user that displays out hotsync on the Centro?

  • Hot Synch and Mac OS 10.4.11

My Palm m505 recently ran out of power... I plugged it ito the cradle for recharging..
I had to hit the 'reset' on the rear in order to get it up and going... but quicly found that my favourite application had "disappeared" and I returned it to the cradle and depressed tha Hot Synch button. A minute or so later I get a 'screen' indicating that my m505 was unable to communicate. I have tried to make sure that the handheld is secure in the cradle but keep getting the "unable to connect" screen.
I am kind of 'lost' without that application that has gone amiss... and would appreciate any and all positive suggestions to have it up and running again.

  • Hot Synch issue-accidently synch with another person

Some help would be great.  I accidently hot synched with a friend's computer.  Now her name is at the top of my Palm screen when I try to hot synch, and also on my palm desktop hot synch.  I am unable to hot synch anything.  What should I do??  I tried to restart, and her name is still there.  what do I do??  Thank you
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Was this the first Hotsync you have ever done?  There really isn't a way you can "accidentally" HotSync to another name.  A blank device will trigger Palm Desktop to ask you "Create a New User" or "Use and Existing Account".  You will have to pick one of the options.  If you chose the latter and picked her name, then that's where all the info came from.
Hard Reset your device to start over again.  When you HotSync to your computer, pick "Create a New User" and choose a name you wish.

  • Hot Synch to Tungsten E2 Using Windows 7

I bought an IR adapter as I read in one of the posts. Windows 7 found a driver and installed it successfully. When I try to Hot Synch, it says it cannot synch because the port is in use by another piece of hardware.  The Hot Synch Manager knows I want to use the IR function. Now what do I do?
I have no idea where to put my question as the topics are not Palm oriented.

If the Win7 computer is a 64bit computer, you'll have to install other drivers to get it to work.
See the sticky post at the top of this section titled' "64Bit Windows USB drivers for Palm Desktop are here".

  • Hot Synch Log not logging

The other day, my computer crashed during a Hot Sync operation.  The log recorded that the operation had been aborted.
Since then, I have Hot Synch’d several times, and it works fine; however, the log is no longer logging.  It still displays the last entry from the day it crashed, so the log function seems to be dead.
I am running Hot Synch Manager ver. 7.0.2 on Windows XP Pro.
My Palm Tungsten E2 runs Garnett 5.4.7.
    Any ideas?

Yes, I reinstalled the software.  It logged one time, then died exactly the same way.  Other ideas?
