Hotkey utility on Windows7

Hi all, I am new here, so please bear with me.
Is the hotkey utility available in windows 7? Might me able to get hold of a cheap copy of windows7 to replace Vista on my Toshiba L350 laptop, and I am just collecting info about it and just wondered if the hotkey utility (the one that drops down from the top of the screen when you hold down the Fn key) is available in windows 7? I can't seem to be able to find it in the download section?
Thanks very much

Download section for Win7 you can find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows7_drivers.jsp
Check if all this stuff is available for your notebook model. If not it will be available soon. Satellite L300 is definitely supported for Win7 and it is just matter of time when you will find all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities for download.

  • Satellite A135-SP4088: Need XP drivers for power management and Hotkey utility

    Hello
I couldn't find drivers for the toshiba A135-SP4088, we bought 3 of them for the office and it's almost impossible to use with vista, so we go to XP SP2, and manage to get almost all of the drivers from other models, but i cannot find 2 utilities that work with this machine, they are:
Toshiba Power Management (the bulb in the task bar, remember?) :D
Hotkey Utility (so I can change Screen brightness, and go to hibernation (Fn+F4)
I have al the rest working, quite nicely but these two are a real problem, none of the ones I tested worked, some even crash the XP and have to go back to a previous restore point.
also, I didn't install any ACPI drivers, are they required?, which ones show I look for? since the model doesn't exist in csd.toshiba.com site.
Now, How one of the greatest notebooks manufacturers in the world can build such a nice computer without making drivers for the most widely used operating system?, can anyone explain me this because i sincerely don't understand it.
    thanks a lot!.
    Indkt.

    Hi
The Satellite A135-SP4088 seems to be designed for the US market so you should use the Toshiba US driver page for the driver download!!!!
But why you need the Toshiba power saver for XP? The XP supports an own power options and also the hibernation option. This option must be enabled in the control panel -> power options -> hibernate tab
    > didn't install any ACPI drivers, are they required
Toshiba page does not provide any special ACPI drivers. The OS uses own Microsoft drivers and the installation of any 3rd applications is not necessary!!!!

  • Need hotkey utility for my Satellite L505-138

Please send me link for hotkey utility. I need it for my Satellite L505-138.
    I cannot find it.
    Windows 7 x64

    Hi Pawo997,
You have to install Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools can be downloaded on official Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
As Dr.Lamp wrote the Hotkey utility is only available for Windows XP. For Vista and Windows 7 you have to install the above mentioned tools. Install VAP first and then Flash Cards Support Utility. These tools control the FN keys for example so after installation the buttons F1-F12 should work properly again. :)

  • NB100 & XP - Cannot install the hotkeys utility

    Hi guys..
    I've buy a NB100-11R and i've installed xp on it...all it's ok but ....
The only problem is with the hotkeys utility...
I can't install it... the installation start and stop in few seconds without any segnalation or popup message.
The special keys are ..half working.... the F2, A, S, esc and F12 are not working...the F8 key seem working ( i see in system preference that the frequency change but the *fan icon who goes grey or white* does not appear... as the others icons)
    Some ideas?
tnx! and have a nice day.

    Hi
According to the info (More info) on the Toshiba European page the Hotkey Utility allows you to switch the display device from LCD to LCD+CRT or CRT mode by pressing Fn+F5.
Im not quite sure if you will be able to use ALL FN buttons the description says that the driver enables the usage of Fn+F5 buttons.
However, please ensure that your Windows XP is up to date (all patches and service packs are installed) and try to reinstall the Hotkey Utility again.
By the way; on the page you will find the newest BIOS version. Please ensure if your notebook uses already the newest BIOS

  • Satellite Pro C650 - missing Hotkey Utility after Win7 64-bit installation

I've just installed Win7 64 bit on a C650 laptop but I don't see the Hotkey utilities for wireless on/off or touchpad (Fn F8 &F9) on the Toshiba list of drivers.
Do these utlilies exist? Where would I get them from?
    Ritchie.

You must install Toshiba value added package. This package contains several tools and utilities.
Please download and install latest version from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
If you need more help you are welcome.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Display Device Hotkey Utility for XP not available

I have just received 6x A200s (PSAE1E-00Q002EN). These were pre-installed with Vista, however, due to the software platform in place at my institution, I rolled-back the OS to Windows XP.
All drivers installed fine form the Toshiba support pages and the standard image that we deploy to laptops has been created. However, some functionality is not available under Windows XP.
Namely the "Fn" key for switching display device (as well as changing brightness/touchpad on-off etc). The ability to switch displays quickly and with a simple User Interface is vital for my users as this is a function they carry out several times a day, with many of them barely computer literate.
The institute I work for have bought many Toshiba laptops (ranging in model from Satellite Pro 1800s up to A120s and A200s!!!) and up until the A200s this was always included under Windows XP - I hope Toshiba release a fix for this.

    Hi
The FN keys dont work due to the BIOS compatibility issue with WinXP.
I presume only the FN+F3 and F4 key combination functions.
This is a special function which belongs to the Toshiba Power saver and using this keys you can switch to the standby and hibernation mode!
I dont know if you have tried to update the BIOS but maybe it will enable the Fn key functionality!
But note; BIOS update is always risky! The wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS update procedure can damage the ROM module where the BIOS is stored!

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E: Cannot get hotkeys working on Win XP

    Hi,
I have a Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E which came with Vista on it, I have reinstalled it with Win XP Pro installed the relevant drivers from the Toshiba download page but cannot get the hot keys working.
I have installed the controls and control driver but this does not seem to work. Have seen a posting about 'common module' somewhere but can't seem to find any links to download it on the download page.
    Can anybody help?
    Many thanks
    Iain

The Controls utility and the Controls driver allow you to customize and preset TOSHIBA special button settings. But these are not a FN keys!!!
You need to install the Hotkey Utility if you want to use the FN keys.
    Further hint:
Its important that all Toshiba drivers and Utilities are installed in the right order.
On the Toshiba driver page you will find a txt file called installation instruction.
Please install all the drivers and tools in the order mentioned in this instruction!
    Greetings

  • Z61e Hotkeys not working in Windows 7

Upgrading all our laptops to Windows 7 this summer.  R61, R61i, SL500, and SL510 hotkeys all work fine.  R61 works out of the box, SL50x needs drivers.  The Z61e hotkeys do the following:
Out of the box they do nothing.
After installing the Z61e hotkey utility, they still do nothing, but the on-screen display shows up when using the windows volume control in the system tray.
I tried installing the SL500 driver (because it has both a hotkey driver and the hotkey utility program) and it does the following:
The volume keys modify the volume in the on-screen display, but they do not modify the actual windows volume.
    Any help?

    Bobo, welcome to the forum,
it's certainly odd that only the volume function is affected, could you take a look at this driver to see if it's the same as that which you installed? It probably is, but it's nice to know. If it's not please give it a try.
Have you tried running system update? It will usually get all the drivers you need to get a system running.

  • Qosmio F50 - How do I bring the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work on Windows XP?

    Hello.
I downgraded my Qosmio F50-137 to XP, found every driver needed for hardware recognition, but am still looking for the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work.
I know (or at least think) that I have to install the "Toshiba Hotkey Utility".
But this utility needs the "Toshiba common module" for Windows XP to be installed.
I fond on the web two common modules for Windows XP:
    common_modules_2489A
    and
    common_modules_24895A
The first one says "This software utility does not support this system.Installation will be terminated"
The second one says "TVALZ driver installation has failed"
How can I make the installation work properly? or How can I make the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys work on my F-50 ?
    Thank you in advance
    Camusensei

Ok sorry for not answering the questions but I have to find a webpage to answer a few things...
    {quote:title=I said:}I've found the XP drivers of other components for my computer on the Toshiba European driver page {quote}
But I'm not sure it was there, since going there and trying to find the page again drove me to the normal driver page.
I'm asking your help me finding the page where:
    - You choose your computer in a column by type and then the next column apperar (on it's right), until you have selected your computer, and a button "choose now" appear.
    - When you click this last button, you land in a page where you have more drivers than in the normal driver page of toshiba (for me I had the option of Windows XP, while I don't have it on the normal page)
    - I'm preety sure it was on the toshiba-website, but I don't remember how to find this page again... And since I already formatted...
I'll continue looking if I can find it again, if someone knows this page, please tell me/us...
    thank you in advance.

  • Satellite L40-17R - FN Sound Volume Hotkey problem - Windows XP

    Hi,
I've recently bought Satellite L40-17R (PSL4CE) without OS preinstalled. I've installed Windows XP Home Edition SP 2.
Then I have installed all drivers I have found for this model on Toshiba driver site. I've even upgraded BIOS.
After that all Fn hotkeys works fine *except those responsible for volume control (Fn + Up/Down Arrow, Esc)*.
I have searched the forum for solution of this problem and found this topic
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=113113
but I am unable to install +ATK Hotkey Utility+ and +ATK Hotkey Driver+ since I cannot find *Driver Package* at Toshiba driver site:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
    as if it was removed.
    I also studied instructions from
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/install-20071214121932.zip
Driver Package is also mentioned there on page 7, 8, 9 but it does not appear in a +Driver type+ listbox as described.
Also when I don't specify "Driver type" field in the search form there is no any Driver Package in search result.
Can anybody tell me where to find Driver Package, ATK Hotkey Utility or ATK Hotkey Driver for Satellite L40+ Win XP?
Am I missing something? Is my Toshiba drivers link not up to date? Is there any other solution to make sound hotkeys work?
    Mao

I've tried Ubuntu Linux on L40-17R and it can control the brightness automatically. For example, when u plug out the AC power (i.e. switch to battery) the brightness goes down to certain level automatically. And It can maintain the brightness level after rebooting.
I cannot find the same feature in Windows XP.
I think this is due to the missing of power saver utility. It can control the brightness automatically. and also for all other options.

  • How to install FN hotkey for volume, brighness etc.?

    Hi,
I installed pure WinXP (not recovery by Toshiba) yesterday. Everything is working well but I`m not able to set up FN key. The only combination that works is FN + F5 but nothing else. I can not change brightness by FN + F6/F7 or MUTE by FN + ESC etc.
Can you help me what I have to install?
And second guestion - what I have to install for graphic symbols like volume level? Volume wheel works but nothing appers on display.
    Thanks a lot.

Yes - OK - I reviewed the list of XP drivers for the L40 and found there were 2 folders one named *ATK Hotkey Utility* and the other *ATK Hotkey Driver*. I ran setup in both of these and my hotkeys are woking fine after a re-boot.
I notice that the files *ATKOSD.exe* and *HControl.exe* are the files that are loaded on startup to control the key functions.

  • NB100 hotkeys problem after BIOS upgrade

    Hello,
after i've updated the bios to version 1.60 some hotkeys, like brightness setting (fn+f9/f10) or the mute (fn+f6) are not working anymore when the operating system starts, they work instead before o.s. loads. I'm using Windows Vista atm. I've tried to reinstall it too but nothing changed.
I really hope to receive some help so thanks in advance ;)
    Best Regards

I dont think its the BIOS. Ive run vista ultimate on mine since ive had it, the hotkeys have never, in my case, worked with Vista. Even if i load the Toshiba hotkey utility it refuses to start and wont run in compatibility mode either. I think its a sacrifice we have to put up with, unless Toshiba update the utility to support vista. Personally I doubt they will do this as the machine is shipped only to support Win XP.

  • MSI CR640 Hotkey's

    Hi,
After upgrading to windows 8 pro the provided hotkey utility (Photkey) and instant cenario change, dunno if its called that (when twice pressing the FN button) isn't working anymore.
I've installed the driver which is found on the cd, Install completes and hot keys aren't working and so is the instant scenario change .
Both aren't working after upgrading and installing the drivers.
Is there a win8 compatible driver (may also be from other NB models)
Also a weird thing is when i reboot my laptop it boots up until the login screen should pop up, When it needs the screen goes black and i have to put the notebook in standby to get to the login screen.
PS: Anyone have got the conexant HD audio program working ?
    Thanks, Jeff
