Hotmail account has subfolders. Can Mac email access them?

I'm trying to help my wife set up her new Macbook Air and didn't have any trouble connecting the Mac email system to her hotmail account. But for some reason, it only shows her inbox, sent box and trash. The actual hotmail account has a whole bunch of folders other than inbox ("professional", "family", etc) that she set up over many years while using hotmail from her PC. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure if this is significant but the hotmail account shows them under the inbox rather than at the "top" level. Also, they were originally created using a POP client (Microsoft Outlook) -- once upon a time they were actually in her personal folders on her old PC, and then in preparation for moving to the Mac a while ago, she dragged and dropped these folders onto the POP side of her account. Much network uploading ensued and eventually, the hotmail account showed them and all the emails were accessable (are, in fact, accessible, via the Outlook.com tab on her msn homepage).
But she prefers the Mac email client so the puzzle is to get the Mac to even notice that these exist.

Got the same problem on my side. The easy way will be to use Microsoft Outlook for Mac which allow ActiveSync support (Exchange feature). Which even if microsoft say it should work with any mail client that support exchange here (Mail in our case), it doesn't;

You can supposely use "m.outlook.com" or I read somewhere else that "s.outlook.com" for Exchange Server was suppose to work which is not the case.
Mac Client "Mail" work perfectly with Exchange protocol but you can bet that Microsoft prefer you to use Outlook and buy Office suite for Mac, where they make most of there profits with this software suite (And a couple of other things but this is there "Milk Cow") for Benefice.
In other way, it work perfectly with iPhone to set up an Outlook Account but on Mac, this is another story ...

This isn't due to malware. There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPad that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
As lizdance40 says, your Hotmail account has been hacked remotely. Change the password immediately. Hotmail accounts are popular targets, but as long as you choose a good password, and make sure that password is not the same as a password you use with any other account, you should be safe.
I disagree with lizdance40's statement that you have to abandon the account and create a new e-mail address. If a hacker is able to get back in even after changing the password, the problem is not with the account itself. There's another vulnerability of some kind somewhere. Perhaps the account allows hackers to leave a "back door" to get back in (such as with GMail's delegation feature), in which case any such feature needs to be reviewed and have settings changed. Perhaps you are checking mail in an insecure manner while on an insecure network (ie, a wireless network that requires no password). Perhaps you are using a password on multiple accounts, and a different account has been compromised. Perhaps a hacker has used knowledge gained by prior access to your account to achieve "social hacking" (ie, convincing a tech to give him access because he has "forgotten the password"). There are many scenarios, but there's no good reason to abandon the account entirely.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Once you have created a rescue address, you cannot delete it, nor can you change it to the same address as used by your ID. There are numerous providers you can get additional email addresses from, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Google etc etc.

The file you need is names Domain.sites and would be located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the old hard drive.
If you still have that drive connect it to your Mac and go to that folder
and copy the domain file to the same location on the new hard drive. If you can't recover that domain file you'll have to rebuild your website from scratch. Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

IMAP Subfolders Can't Be Accessed After Server Rebuild

I had to reinstall MOSXS 10.4 last night and after reconfiguring the server, I turned mail services on and ditto'd my backup of var/spool/imap back to /var/spool/imap and logged into my IMAP account using Entourage 2004.
The Inbox works correctly, but all subfolders appear to be broken. I told my IMAP account to get the complete folder list, and Entourage crashes. I went so far as to delete/recreate my account, and I can only see the basic folders with no subfolders (like my listserve archives, etc.) I can see the folders and mail in /var/spool/imap/users/(me)/(subfolders)/ and it's all there, but I can't seem to access it.
Any ideas? I'm sure I'm overlooking the obvious.

Most likely using ditto to backup/restore your files missed a few bits. Also /var/spool/imap is not enough, you also need the imap config directory (usually var/imap)
You probably need to reconstruct your mail database. You can use mailbfr to do this. http://osx.topicdesk.com/downloads/
Install it as desribed in the documentation and run it with mailbfr -f
You will loose your read/unread flags though.

Hotmail accounts in Mail - automatically recalling email addresses

I've managed to link two hotmail accounts to MAIL yet when i switch between inboxes in mail and start a new message, it is only picking up email addresses from one of the accounts (the first one I linked).
If I type the start of an email address into the 'TO' area it starts to suggest email addresses from the first account - but none from the second account.
Other than adding email addresses to the address book, is there anyway to have MAIL automatically pick up email addresses from both accounts?

Mail will only autocomplete an address that you've previously sent email to; it can't find addresses from Hotmail. So unless you've used those addresses you're wanting to see in that particular account, they won't show up, no matter which account you use.
You can add them to Address Book, or you can just start sending email to all of them and then they'll be in the Previous Recipients list the next time.

Anna E7 - hotmail account stopped working, can't r...

Downloaded Anna update last night to my E7 and now the hotmail account is not working. Deleted the old account from E7 and when trying to re-set up my hotmail account, getting an error message"service not in use, try again later".
Any hints how to fix it?

Nokia have acknowledged that there is an issue. I have sent @Nokiahelps a PM and this was the reply.
The workaround to decline the Nokia messaging T&Cs still works, however then you don't have full access to all the email folders and only the Inbox is synchronised.

I used to manage 3 websites using both my imac and macbook, using dropbox, however I can no longer access them from my mac book.

I have been managing 3 websites using iWeb for the last several years, using both my iMac and Macbook. However for the last two weeks, I can no longer access these sites from my macbook. It appears "empty". When I first started seeing this, I took it to the Genius Bar in another city and he moved some library contents to my desktop - still didin't help.
I know iWeb is a thing of the past, but I can't stop right now and learn something new for about the next 4 weeks (in a sports team in the middle of a season)
. After that, I will have time to learn a new product.
Also, what is a suggestion for replacing iWeb? Sandvox? Rapid Weaver?

What do you mean when you say you "can no longer access these sites?" Does that mean you can't connect to those sites in your web browser, or that they aren't showing up in iWeb?
If the latter, note that your iWeb data is all entirely stored in a hidden file. In the Finder, choose Go -> Go To Folder and paste the following path into the window that opens:
~/Library/Application Support/iWeb
In that folder, you will find a single file, called Domain. That's got all the data for all your iWeb sites. If that file is missing, or if it has become corrupt, you will need to restore it from an earlier backup.
As for replacing iWeb, either Sandvox or RapidWeaver should work. Which works best will depend on your own tastes. Note that neither is capable of fully importing iWeb sites, as those sites will have a lot of content that is copyrighted by Apple. What are these hidden drives in my root directory? Why can I not access them?

Noticed two drives (?) in my root directory a week or so back that were never there before, one called net and one called home. Also have been getting anomalous folders appearing on the left of explorer as 'shared' folders/devices. Odd thing is I have no access to them (read only attribute, but even less than read only as I can't actually read any data on them) and they say they are zero bytes and created in 2001?! But the "date modified" date is always right up to date. So why can I not delete them? Anyone know what these are? Are they normal? See this picture http://oi62.tinypic.com/iyzyc1.jpg
Would there be a way to use terminal to gain access or to dig a little deeper into what they are?

Another odd thing is the network icon in my root directory (which is set to neighborhood) when I click 'get info' the lock button is greyed out, and the more info just hangs on the 'fetching' spinning wheel.
Secondly I have a 'shared' device/server/folder(?) called Bthub4 on the left in explorer, right clicking 'get info' for that gives similar results with no access, or info. See pic below.

The closest you will get to have your photos live in iCloud and not taking as much storage space on your iPhone is by using iCloud Photo Library. What it does is makes your Photos live in iCloud but also appear on your iPhone and other iOS devices and computers. It will be the exact same so any changes will be reflected everywhere. When they are on your iPhone, there is an option to use a compressed version. Take a look at the FAQs page and let me know if you have any other questions before making this decision to turn this on. I would also make sure that you have a safe copy of your photos before moving forward.

Apps showing up as 'installed' on my phone but I can't see/access them??

Since I updated my iPhone 4 a couple of my apps have 'disappeared'.
The thing is they are still showing up in my appstore as 'installed' so I can't re-install them. I'm very confused. Help!

Open the Contacts app. At the top of the Contacts list, tap on Group (if you see it), and then make sure all groups are displayed.
