Hotmail Email Keeps Retrieving Old Messages

Hi, I was given a 3GS iPhone recently and sent up several email accounts on it. The problem is that with my main account, Hotmail, the phone keeps loading up way old emails after I delete the previously loaded ones. I just want new emails to be updated. Is there a way to stop this from happening? If so, can the directions be simple because I am new to this. Thank you

The is standard behavior when creating a POP account with an email client such as the iPhone's Mail application.
If you created your Hotmail account as a POP account with another email client on your computer that hasn't been used to access the account, all received messages that remain at the incoming mail server for the account would be downloaded as new and unread messages.
Microslop supports accessing a Hotmail account as a POP account only.

Mail keeps retrieving old messages

I was wondering if there is a way to set up mail where it stops getting old messages. I am trying to clear up my mailbox but every time I do it retrieves old messages from the server and then I have to clear those out. In addition, the old messages that are added come up as unread so my unread message number indicator on the icon is always high. I want to be able to have a lot of messages in my inbox but I just wish it would stop getting old messages unless i tell it to. Does anyone else have troubles with this?

Just a curiosity...
POP3 and imap have implemented a 'last' feature. This is a value that represents the last message that the client (iPad mail) has seen from that server.
Sometimes the versions are funky and this 'last' is not implemented or not compatible.
Since this is an old feature (5 years as I remember) most sendmail servers support it. But, well versions and opinions being as they are some people don't use industry standard products and muck up features.
THis isnt all that helpful in solving the issue. But may be useful in diagnosing it.

I guess you could try but I don't believe Apple can help with activation lock issues. They may, however, be able to determine if the Apple ID belongs to one of you and reset the password for you if you can prove your identity.
You might want to try calling Apple by going to https://expresslane.apple.com; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. Perhaps they can help determine if it's your ID and reset the password for you (and they probably have more expertise in doing this than the Apple store).

Retrieving Old Messages

Hi Experts,
Is there any way we can retrieve old message Ids in XI. What's the criteria that XI archieves the messages??
Does it depend upon certain period of time or it depends upon the flow of messages? Are they archieved or they are permanently deleted from the database?
Is there any way, we can retrieve those messages?
Please suggest.

Mail activity keeps receiving old messages

When I open my macbook, mail activity shows old messages incoming.

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
Rebuild mailbox

My hotmail emails keep disappearing from inbox on my iphone4!

I've read about a lot of similar problems but have found so resolution. I will check an email, and a day or two later I try to reference the same email again and it's gone. If I log onto a computer, all the messages are still there, they just disappear from my Iphone 4 inbox. I've explored every setting option, and no help. What is going on!? My old iphone didn't have this issue!

i had the same problem. but i noticed that once your laptop email downloads the email it will go from your inbox in the iphone. it is this new setting from hotmail. you cannot do anything. but if u have anothe email address like gmail or icloud.
first go to hotmail account setting from browser in your computer. in the setting you will see email forwarding. type in the alternate email address like gmail or icloud. u will receive email on those account which has come from hotmail. and gmail and icloud stays on the iphone.

Retrieve old messages in iphone6+

got a new iphone6 , forgot to transfer messages from my old iphone5 to iphone6 . iphone5 is recycled and data must be wiped out now. Can i somehow still retrieve messages using my new iphone6 +?

Email- My email keeps downloading old email long ago deleted by my computer, but I phone now has 1,300 plus email, and no way to delete in bulk. how can i dbulk delete and stop old emails from downloading. i use gmail.

Sounds like you have your computer checking a POP account and your computer thus gets copies from the server and you don't have your comptuer set to delete from server once downloaded/deleted thus they are still on the server. Thus when your phone checks the server they are there. POP accounts were never intended for this mobile age.

My hard drive crashed and I had to buy a new drive, so I lost the 20,000 messages that had been saved in my inbox. I use gmail and another local server (optonline). Is there any way to pull these messages off the server and into my mail program so I can have them in my new mail? I really need to be able to access these messages from my hard drive. Thanks!

did you use gmail IMAP or gmail POP? if you used gmail IMAP then all your messages are on the server and all you need to do is set up your gmail IMAP account in Mail. it will sync with the server and you'll get all your messages. If you used gmail POP then it depends on whether you kept the messages on server after retrieving them. if you didn't they are gone. if you did then you have two options
1. set up gmail IMAP.
2. set up gmail POP, then go to webmail gmail->settings->forwarding & POP/IMAP and check the option to allow POP downloading ALL messages.

For the last two days my hotmail emails keep repopulating after I delete them from my ipad 2 or iPhone 4S. Please help!

I think you can retrieve old messages. I have done it to the extent of a couple months on my iPhone looking up some info I needed. What I did was kept scrolling back to "load earlier messages" and they kept coming till I got to the info I wanted. They are always telling you this stuff lives forever, at least in court supeonas.
I have wondered if I could go back through the iMessages using my lap top. As a parent of young adults, their messages to me through the last several years are such a travelogue of their lives, I wouldn't mind reading it again. Probably someone in criminal justice would know how to do it better.
