Hotmail finally works on iPhone

I dont know if anyone has noticed but Hotmail finally works on the Mail application with no workarounds, i searched for someone posting this but could only find posts about workarounds, so i figured i would share the good news!
all you have to do is go to Other when setting up email and put in your name, email address, password, and then the description box will b automatically filled in with your email address. Every other setting will also be automatically done, but just for reference host name is pop3.live.com and the Outgoing smtp is smtp.live.com
im glad i procrastinated long enough to not have to use a workaround or set up a new email account and im extremely glad that i can finally use my Mail application and not safari!!!

Maybe the Windows Live web page changed to Flash content, that would be evil
But seriously, why not use the Mail app for your Hotmail?

This now seems to work on iPhone, just after I purchased mBoxmail! However the landscape keyboard in mBox is better.. is that coming in 3.0?

If you have multiple hotmail accounts then you still need that other application to avoid having to keep logging out of one to get into another (I run three accounts to do with assorted group My Space accounts and have them all linked to my main hotmail so I only have to log in once).

Trouble getting hotmail to work on Iphone

I am having trouble with hotmail on Iphone4 ios 6.01. I have to reinstalt it more or less every time I change Wifi connect. Right now its not working at all. The error message says Server problem.

They are still reporting outages in some areas. This is a problem with hotmail. Not your phone.

When I Installed iOS8 My Hotmail Stopped Working

I am having problems getting emails using my hotmail account. I have the iPhone 6 + iOS8. I am able to add the account but none of my emails come through. When I click on the account under mailboxes it only shows an inbox... no other folders and no mail. Any ideas? I've been previously using this hotmail account with my iphone 5 and iOS 7 for the last year and it worked perfectly.

In case it happens again, here's what I did. I'm pasting below.
After struggling for several more hours with my issue adding my MSN mail account to my new iPhone6's iOS8, I finally figured it out! Apparently, this applies to Hotmail as well.
Here's the fix, in case someone else happens to need it:
Instead of selecting Outlook.com or Other after tapping on "Add Account," select Exchange.
Enter the username as the email address.
Don't enter your password! From the desktop or laptop that you normally use to access your MSN/Hotmail email, log out of your email account and then log back in, go to your account settings, click on Security, and then request a temporary password for access via apps. That password will be a funky, long combination of random letters and/or numbers. It will appear on your computer screen right away.
Enter that password onto your iOS8 device.
Voila, you're done!

3G not working in iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 was not available these days after the 3G network,the ICON display 3G,but not working, Safari,App depend on network are all unavailable.i just try to switch on/off the 3G and Cellular buttons in Setting. after that it looks fine to access the internet.but few hour or mins later,it doesnt working again.
My iPhone 5 not jailbreak and using the China Unicom Carrier.
Does anybody get the same issue??

I have the same problem with my iPhone 5, also using China Unicom (in Shanghai). Went to China Unicom, worthless - except could see that the same sim card worked on 3g in a different iPhone 5.
I'm using an Apple unlocked phone purchased in the US - and after going to the Apple store, they suggested that I restore the phone (set-up as new). I couldn't do it at the store, because I hadn't sync'd in a few days, so went home, backed it up, and restored the phone to factory defaults in iTunes. Turned on 3g - a voila! 3g finally works on internet!
Then, I restore the backup of my phone made earlier - and I'm back to no internet. I am trying again, this time wtih the restore from a iCloud backup. Will post back if I have success - but based on the symptoms, it looks like there is some random setting that is captured in that phone restore which is in conflict with connecting regular Safari in iOS to the 3g Unicom network. Otherwise, there's no reason it would have worked after resetting to factory defaults.
Also, to make it weirder - although I coudln't open any pages in iOS Safari on 3g, I COULD successfully send email over 3g... so it was talking to the network and able to send data. WEIRD!!! And frustrating.

I finally got my iphone out of recovery mode, after 7.1.1 but now it won't accept my Icloud info and states "An error occrured while trying to save the Icloud account?" What do I do????

Same situation. I installed iOS 8 beta 4 on my iPhone 5 and a few days later my iCloud account disappeared. My contacts and calendar entries are gone.
My Mac Mini and MacBook do sync as they should with iCloud.
When I try to log in to iCloud on the iPhone (the username shows "[email protected]" and password shows "required"), I put in my username and password and tap "Sign In", It says "Verifying" at the top and after a while checkmarks appear next to my username and password. Then I get an error message saying "An error occurred while trying to save the iCloud account". If I tap OK the message goes away, leaving my username and password intact (checkmarks are now gone). If I tap "Sign In" again I get a message saying " '[email protected]' is Already Added. This iCloud account has already been added to your iPhone". If I go back to Settings and then go into iCloud again it's not set up and appears as I stated at the beginning of this paragraph.
Nothing works and the sync does not occur. Contacts are empty and Calendar has no entries.

I had the same problem and after a lot of research here and on Verizon I finally discovered that it was an app named Onavo Extend that was preventing my voicemail from working. Other people have had success resetting their phone or network settings, disabling and reenabling SIRI, or deleting the Neilsen app (which I didn't have) but those options didn't work for me. A lot of mods have claimed that this is not an Apple problem but if it is caused by an app that Apple allows to be sold in their app store, then it is an Apple problem, not a carrier problem. Of course, sometimes its just an ID 10 T problem.

ActiveSync autodiscover not working for iPhone but for Android and Windows Phone

We have setup an Exchange 2013 hosted environment, where different mail domains are running on it.
The main domain is mydomain.com. One of the client domains is customer.com.
Autodiscover for customer.com has a cname which points to autodiscover.mydomain.com, on our firewall this url is redirected to autodiscover-s.mydomain.com, where our public certificate for mydomain.com is applied. Autodiscover for all
our customers finally ends at autodiscover-s.mydomain.com.
Outlook WebApp, Outlook Anywhere and ActiveSync for all customers is reachable through mail.mydomain.com.
Everything works fine, except of autodiscover for iPhones. I always have to enter the server name mail.mydomain.com manually. After that ActiveSync works on iPhones as well.
The Problem doesn’t exist on Androids and Windows Phones.
Any suggestion?

Hotmail not working in the Mail app

I've got a iPad 3G. The Hotmail worked fine for the first few days in the Mail app but it's not working any more. It does not sync. The 'Checking for Mail' keeps on running but no message is downloaded. I've deleted and recreated the account, I've disabled and enabled it, and tried other things that I could think off. Nada.
I have a iPhone 3G on which the hotmail works just fine with the Mail app. Exact same settings on the iPad don't work at all. Any clues? I know it's not the Hotmail server because the iPhone wouldn't work in that case. I know it's not the WiFi or 3G server that's blocking server access because the iPhone can access the mail while being on the same network.
Any ideas?

Well ... turns out all it needed was a reboot
Sorry for the post. After two days of debugging - it never occurred to me that I should simply reboot the f*er. All is well after rebooting. Thanks anyway.

I have the same problem which started after I upgraded to iOS 7. It works particularly bad on the iPhone 4. It is in "Loading iTunes Match" mode most of the time with no or very slow progress, and when it finally ends, the uploaded Playlists are never there, not one. "Loading iTunes Match" would restart again after leaving and restarting music, say 50% of the time. Not sure what really is being loaded and can't understand why it has to be reloaded so often.
I had a problem ticket with Apple Support, but the specialist asked for a series of screenshots documenting the start time of "Loading iTunes Match" and the eventual completion time. I told him to forget it because I had already spent too much time turning this and that on and off for so many times in so many days trying to listen to my own uploaded music and I did not want to fiddle around anymore. I have decided not to renew my iTunes Match service in November, and have since turned off iTunes Match on all my devices and gone back to syncing to keep things simple.
I also have Amazon Cloud Player which is working just fine for the purpose of having some kind of cloud access of my music. I will be renewing this $24 service this month for another year instead of iTunes Match.
Apple was supposed to be very good at software development, and for them not resolving a problem in a paid service since the rollout of iOS 7 is just disappointing.

Hotmail stopped working in Apple Mail - PLEASE HELP

My Comcast and Gmail accounts work great in Mail. But I keep getting the following error when setting up my free Hotmail account:
"The POP server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable."
It allows me to click through but then when trying to sign onto my account I get this error:
"The server returned the error: The server “pop3.live.com” refused to allow a connection on port 995."
I am using the following settings:

I've checked with my ISP and they say they're not blocking any ports, my firewall is turned off, I get this same type of error when setting up Hotmail on Thunderbird on my Mac. I can sign on just fine on other computers mail clients in my house and I have no problem signing in via the web.
I've been having this problem for about 3 months now. My thought is that there's something internally telling the necessary ports to block all traffic but I'm stumped on how to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I only have a Hotmail account for testing to help others, but in general it has worked fine. However, yesterday and today, it keeps prompting for the password, so I deselected to include when automatically checking, and have only been using Get Mail manually, which works.
Snow Leopard appears to check often and regularly on the status of the connection to servers -- I am wondering if Hotmail is finding this objectionable?

i recently had to change my hotmail passward on outlook...now i am not able to send emails my hotmail account on my iphone. "cannot send mail"....user name or password is incorrect. I have deleted my hotmail account from my iphone and tried to set up again...still does not work.

I have an iphone 5c and had that same problem but solved it today. Log into your hotmail account on the web. go to settings, then options, then security & password. Look for App password, click on create new app password and enter that code as your password in your iphone when setting it up as Outlook.com. It worked like a charm for me.

If you are not a registered developer, you are a thief. Pay to join the developers program so you can take this to the developers forums or wait for the final release in the fall.
And don't mess around with beta software you're not entitled to.

Ok. When you log in to your hotmail on another pc or iPad via Safari or Internet explorer does it ask you for your last 4 digits of your mobile. If they do they you have set up 2 step security. This is so to prevent your account getting hacked. If you haven't gotten this set up then try try this.
Goto your iPhone settings. General and click the bottom of the page scroll down where it says RESET press that. Now click on reset network settings.
now wait a while. Then go back to mail settings and set up your hotmail account.
Ie. name of your account John
Your email address [email protected]
Put in your password.
I just put hotmail in the last box.
Hopefully it will process this then you should get the tick signs then bingo. You should be all set up now fingers crossed. Good luck.

I forgot to mention you need to go into hotmail on your pc. Then settings. If it says 2 step setup. Then click below that to turn off your 2 step set up.
