Hotmail Issues Sending from iPhone

Just to set a baseline: I am using an iPhone 4 with MobileMe that syncs with Outlook. Just recently my emails that I send using my iPhone are sent from my gmail account - even though it states on my phone when sending "From: [email protected] I also have hotmail set as my "Default Account" in Settings under Mail, Contacts, Calendars? I even went as far as to delete my gmail account from my phone and it continues to send from gmail?
HELP - This does not seem right?
Thanks in advance.

Backup the device in iTunes.
Restore as new.
Setup one account on the device and test.  If it works, set up the other accounts one at a time and test.  If this works, there is some screwy setting in your backup that is the culprit.
If this does not work, restore from the backup created in the first step to get all your data back/settings back.

  • Outlook Sending from Iphone Issue

I couldn't get any responses to this question (posted below), but now I have another related question.
I've noticed that anything I send from my iphone (Outlook based, not yahoo or hotmail) just hangs in the Outbox until I get within range of my home router. Until I get the iphone attached to my router when I try to send it just says the server does not recognize my email address. Ideas?
Old post with no answer yet: I have this issue with both my wife's Iphone 3 and my Iphone 4. We have seperate Outlook email accounts but, many of the emails we get on our desktop are not going to my Iphone 4 or her Iphone 3. I have the accounts set up correctly I think, but not sure why not all the emails that hit our desktop inbox don't also get to our Iphone. I also can't reply or send from the Iphones for the Outlook accounts. When I try to send something it stays in the Outbox and gives the message that the Server didn't recognize the account.
My Hotmail and Yahoo mail work just fine. Any ideas?

You can access a Yahoo and a Hotmail account with Outlook. Who is the email account provider for this account? Is the account provided by your internet service provider for your internet access at home?
Most, if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated. The same applies to AT&T when connected to the internet via their cellular network. Yahoo has an authenticated SMTP server and I believe Microsoft has the same with a Hotmail account.

Sounds like the email accounts are POP accounts and if so, what is your account setting with Outlook for removing messages from the server when downloaded by Outlook? If you want the same messages downloaded with Outlook available for download when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app, you need to set this to never with the account settings with Outlook.
If already set to never with the account settings with Outlook, do you leave Outlook launched and running actively checking the accounts for new messages while your iPhone is doing the same? If so, there is a limitation with a POP account in this regard. With a POP account, only one email client at a time such as Outlook or the iPhone's Mail app can access the incoming mail server to check the incoming mail server for new messages and/or download any new messages at the server. When a 2nd email client attempts to do the same as another email client, the incoming mail server will temporarily lock out the 2nd email client from accessing the incoming mail server until the communication with the incoming mail server has been completed and closed by the other email client. This is not a problem with an IMAP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with more than one email client with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.

  • Email not sending from iPhone 4S anymore

I have set up my hotmail in my Mail app on my iPhone 4S. I used to be able to send emails from my phone however now when I try and send a box pops up and says this:
Cannot Get Mail. The mail server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.
Though I could still receive my emails.
Also a more recent problem is my emails are just not downloading at all anymore...
Any ideas why this is happenning?

    tomfromgranger wrote:
Same here.  The emails do arrive if you send them from the iCloud website, but not from the Mac or the iPhone.
I just confirmed that's what's happening with mine as well. I sent some from iCloud.com and it worked fine but not from iPhone or Mac.
I've been hearing that Siri and iMessage have also been having issues (nothing official - just word of mouth and similar discussions like this.) I wouldn't be surprised, though, as I imagine all these new services are putting quite the strain on the Apple servers.
I have also been having issues over the last couple of days which I assume are related. When using Mail on Mac or iPhone I intermittently receive errors that my password is incorrect.

  • Hotmail issues with my iphone

i recently had to change my hotmail passward on outlook...now i am not able to send emails my hotmail account on my iphone. "cannot send mail"....user name or password is incorrect. I have deleted my hotmail account from my iphone and tried to set up again...still does not work.

I have an iphone 5c and had that same problem but solved it today.  Log into your hotmail account on the web.  go to settings, then options, then security & password.  Look for App password, click on create new app password and enter that code as your password in your iphone when setting it up as Outlook.com.  It worked like a charm for me.

  • I get message: looked like spam or contained a virus when sending from iphone or e-mail

i just installed new photosmart 5510 e-all-in-one.  all works well except for when i try e-mail from my laptop to printer or iphone to printer.  i get message sayine:  looked like spam or contained a virus   my wife has no problem sending from her laptop or iphone.  i use incredimail and she uses msmail.  printing from laptops is no problem, only my e-mail or iphone.  any suggestions?

    Hello gunnylarry,
There are a couple of reasons that you can get that message.  First, it could be that ePrint does not recognize your email service provider.  Second, it could be that your phone and email have signatures.  Make sure that neither has a signature and try sending the email again.  Other than that, make sure there are no forward or reply tags in the subject line.

When i send a photo from my iphone to the emailadress of my printer, than ePrintcenter recent tasks says. "looks like spam or is a virus" and the printer isn't printing.
Can anyone tell me what is the problem?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It printed this time perfectly on my home printer after I added a subject on subject line "Photo" of my email from iPhone to the ePrintcenter. Previously I left the subject line of email blank and ePrintcenter discarded it with a msg "Looked like spam or contained a virus". Thanks for the great advice.

  • Saving photos send from iPhone in Windows

    Hi,
When I send a bunch of pictutes from iPhone5 all of them are attached to the email with the same name.
When I try to save them all (one by one or all of them on the same time) under MsWindows mail applications (mainly Windows mail) have a problems with saving them as under Win you cannot have two files with the same nam in one folder.
Is there any chance that the files attached during creation of the mail in iPhone5 have different random names?
Is there any other way to effectivelly save multiple pictures sent from iPhone?
    K

You can try the following, it worked for me. Click START, open up MY COMPUTER, and your iPhone should be listed under Portable Devices below your HDD's and DVD drives. Keep clicking and eventually you should reach the folder with your pics and videos. To be on the safe side, I would not try moving or deleting the files for there might be an indexing file on the phone, but I was able to copy my photos and video clips to my PC. The videos are in .mov format and play in QuickTime.

  • Reply-to function in Gmail does not work when sending from iPhone

I'm using Gmail for my iPhone and have the "reply-to" function set up so that recipient's of emails will reply to my business email address and not reply back to my gmail address. It works fine when sending emails directly from Gmail on the web interface. However, when I use the iPhone to send an email, the recipient gets my gmail address when replying to me. They do not the get "reply-to" email address. This seems to be an iPhone issue. I noticed another post about this issue involving Yahoo reply-to acting the same way with the iPhone and replied to that regarding my gmail experience. Are any other gmail users experiencing the same thing with the reply-to function? Any suggestions on how to fix?
    Thanks

Setting the reply-to on the web interface does not change the reply-to on the iPhone. In order for you to specify a different reply-to on the iPhone, you need to configure your GMail account using the "Other" shortcut, not the GMail shortcut. The Other shortcut allows you to specify your work ID as the address, and your GMail ID as your login for incoming and outgoing servers.

  • Email account won't send from iphone

I just switched from a blackberry to iphone 4. I have set up all of my email accounts but my work account won't send emails to any accounts that are not from our server. I never had this problem with my blackberry so I know it can be done. The message always says "email address rejected by server". Anyone else have this problem?

    hi there
Sorry no answer, just to say i am getting the same message when trying to send mail from my yahoo account. I have a Microsoft exchange account for work which seems to be fine.
    Glad i am not alone!

  • Mail will not send from iPhone on .Mac Account!

This is weird. From my .Mac account when I try to send an email message, I get the "Cannot Access Outgoing Mail Server", whereas if I set up a Gmail account on the same phone, it sends just fine.
I've deleted and re-created the account, restored, updated, software, and all the above again, been to the Genius Bar -- yet remain stymied. Is there some simple solution I've overlooked?

Your problem is with Cox and Cox not having an authenticated SMTP server.
Not many ISPs provide an authenticated SMTP server and I'm not sure why - especially with laptops and devices such as the iPhone so popular.
I'm a Time Warner/RoadRunner customer for cable and internet access and I quit using my RR email account several years ago for this very reason. I switched to using my .Mac account as my primary personal email account which has an authenticated SMTP server. I'm able to send messages with the account regardless the internet service provider used for internet access. My business POP account also has an authenticated SMTP server and no problems sending with this account either - via a number of different Wi-Fi connections and EDGE.
I suggest seriously considering switching to another email account. A Gmail account is free, can be accessed as a POP or IMAP account with the email client on your computer as well as with the iPhone's email client, has a good spam filter at the incoming mail server, and has an authenticated SMTP server.
If you ever move or decide to change your ISP from Cox to a different ISP, your email account and address will not need to change. You can access and send messages with a Gmail account with any ISP - the same with a .Mac account. And you'll have much more server storage space than Cox provides.

  • Writing SMS messages on an iMac and sending from iPhone

Is there any way to write and receive texts on my iMac using my 3G iPhone? Can it be done through MobileMe/iSync? Is the limited bluetooth on iPhone any use for this?

No, there is not. You can send SMS from your Mac - there are a variety of widgets for that. But they will be sent via email (from the widget's associated server), not 'from your phone' - nor is there a way to receive them on your Mac.
    Here's one example:

  • Writing email on laptop, sending from iPhone

Is it possible to write an email in my MacBook Pro's Apple Mail, and then transfer that file to my iPhone for sending? This is helpful when traveling with laptop and iPhone but when Wifi networks are not readily available.
    Message was edited by: QuincyKid

I should think you'd be able to paste the text into a Note in Mail, then sync via cable/iTunes, and copy the text from the Note. Does that help?
Alternatively, you might be able to set up an ad-hoc network to sync a third-party app wirelessly from mac to phone without actually having internet on the mac, though I'm a bit hazy on ad-hoc networks.

Still a question of copy&paste from Mac Mail into an intermediary and c&p from intermediary to iPhone Mail, though.
