Hotmail: moving mail to a new folder, it just disappears????

Hi All
Hope you can Help me!!!!
I have just set up a new Hotmail account through Exchange on my iphone4. Through Hotmail on a browser i have made folders for various email to go into.
However when i move them they just disappear??, the folder is empty.
But if you check the folders through a browser the emails are in the correct folders?
Any ideas??
I have deleted the account from my phone, and added it again, no joy!!!
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
Alan

I am not sure why that is relevant but they are:comcast.net, mcn.org, gmail.com, yahoo.com, earthlink.net, and mac.com. The gmail is being accessed as an imap server. Comcast won't do imap. I am not sure about the others.
Thanks
It's relevant because all Apple mail accounts are Imap, which would have made it easy, but ... all the Imap accounts do not need to be transferred, POP accounts (comcast, earthlink and yahoo, maybe) will need to be exported from wherever they are and reimported.
PST files are Outlook only, if you are using Outlook you could buy emailchemy and let it do this for you.

  • Lion Mail creates a new folder in Yahoo Mail called "Sent Messages"

    For some reason, since updating to 10.7.5, Mail no longer puts sent messages into the proper "Sent" folder of my Yahoo accounts. It creates a new folder in Yahoo Mail called "Sent Messages" and stores them there. This new folder is only visible from iOS devices' Mail or by logging into Yahoo through a web browser. Lion Mail doesn't sync this new folder, for whatever reason.
    Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this or has found a fix.

    Okay, thanks to nobody for their help.  But I figured it out anyway.  Somehow there was a rule which had the "if-then" result of "move to (my wife's name) mailbox" -- so when such an email arrived, Mail would have to create the (previously-deleted) mailbox in order to follow the rule.  So I just deleted that rule.

  • Moving Photos to a new folder in Lightroom 1.3.1 using Mac OS 10.5.1 Doesn't Work

    I use an iMac with OS 10.5.1 and Lightroom 1.3.1.
    First, I successfully imported the photos from my Epson P-2000 to a folder (Germany) which I created as part of the import into Lightroom (for File Handling in the Import dialog I used Copy Photos to a new location and Import).
    Next, I created a new folder (Berlin) using the Lightroom folder panel and dragged some photos from the Germany folder into the new Berlin subfolder. Although the photos appear in the Berlin subfolder, they are still also in the parent, Germany folder.
    Also, I would have thought that I could select photos and then use the Edit menu's Cut and Paste commands to move the photos. But even though I have selected images in the Grid view, these commands are grayed out.
    I don't want to copy the photos - I want to move them. And I did not think that the same photo could be in two different folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Are you seeing this only in Lightroom? They are not 'still in the parent, Germany folder.' only visible their if you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' checked in the Menu/Library of Library.
    Uncheck that you you will only see them in their correct folders.

  • Moving mail to a new Volume

    I want to move my mail spool off of the local root disk and onto an xserve raid attached via FC. Is there any reason I can't:
    stop mail service
    rsync /var/spool/imap /Newvolume/var/spool/imap/
    rsync /var/imap /Newvolume/var/imap/
    mv /var/spool/imap /var/spool/imap.OLD
    mv /var/imap /var/imap.OLD
    ln -s /Newvolume/var/spool/imap /var/spool/imap
    ln -s /Newvolume/var/imap /var/imap
    start mail services
    I suppose I could just change the path to the store in the mail config GUI also, right? Is any single way better than the other?
    Thanks!

    Just change the paths in the GUI.
    Make sure you copy the db and imap directories with permissions intact.
    Just to play it safe, you might want to run a mailbfr -b (to backup) then after copying data run mailbfr -o to set permissions.
    sudo -s
    mailbfr -b /Volumes/Drive/path
    serveradmin stop mail
    ditto /var/spool/imap /Volumes/Drive/path/mail.data/imap
    ditto /var/imap /Volumes/Drive/path/mail.data/db
    Enter new paths in ServerAdmin, Save.
    mailbfr -o (mail service will start automatically after repairing permissions)
    I left the old mail stores in place, so you can revert easily if a problem occurs. Later, delete the original db and imap directories.

  • Using ipad1, why do my pictures in a new folder i just ceated are not in a good order? all my other older folders are in the right order but not the last one i synchronised

    I never had this problem before. My photos are mixed in my new folder of my IPad1 with ios version 5.1.1
    . Usually, they are in alphabetical order like in any usual folder, but not this time .I synchronised with ITunes with the usb connector. How can I put back in the right order my pictures? I was just told (by apple's help desk) that IPad IOS 5.1.1 sorts photos by the last date modified instead of by alphanumerical order. What a foolish idea? Is there something we can do about this? Thanks!  Robert

    all the pictures appear but can only be shown clicking in the Catalog Panel in LR, they are all included within the ¨all pictures¨  and in ¨ Previus import ¨ ... the previus import are all the photos i cannot see within folders ..
    Let me see how can i show you a screen capture and send it, I think this would explain better the situation
    Yes, when i click show in finder, it takes me to the HD and shows me the right folder the picture is in.  The folders in the HD show the order and titles i  defined on lightroom .. so the folders i defined in lightroom were registered correctly in the HD but are no longer shown in the folder panel in LR

  • The "Mail" icon App on my iphone just disappeared.  I've reset the phone, tried troubleshooting other ways.  Any clues on what to do. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    The "Mail" icon App on my iphone 3G just disappeared!  I've reset the phone, checked settings.  I can still access the internet through Safari, but the entire "Mail" icon is gone!  Vanished into thin air in a matter of seconds!  Has anyone ever had this happen?  Any suggestions as to what to do?

    You can't delete it.  Look on all your screens and inside all your folders.  If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

  • Moving Mail to a new computer

    I am getting a new computer and would like to move mail and its settings, folders, etc. without moving all of my programs and users settings. I would like to end up with a clean install except for mail. Is that possible with migration assistant or is there another way such as importing archieves for each mailbox folder. Is there a pst file that contains the rules, and account info?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Mail created a new folder and throws some, not all, of my wife's email there

    So my wife had been complaining about trouble finding all her emails after I upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I took a look and saw that in addition to her account (sub-in-box) under Inbox, she had a folder under "On My Mac" with emails there too.  So I moved all the latter emails to her sub-Inbox and then deleted that "on my mac" folder.  Well, that didn't work.  The next day she said she was still having a problem.  Turns out that the "on my mac" folder had come back to life somehow and Mail was sending some, but not all, of her emails there.  There seems to be no sense to it.  Some emails go into her "regular" account (under Inbox) and some into the "on my mac" folder.  Many, but not all, of the latter are "junk" mail.  So she still has to check both folders to see all her mail.  How do I fix this?

    Okay, thanks to nobody for their help.  But I figured it out anyway.  Somehow there was a rule which had the "if-then" result of "move to (my wife's name) mailbox" -- so when such an email arrived, Mail would have to create the (previously-deleted) mailbox in order to follow the rule.  So I just deleted that rule.

  • When dragging mail to a new folder in Mail, the item sticks to my cursor and won't let go.

    I like to keep certain emails organized in folders. When dragging my mail today, the envelope icon on the cursor stuck to it, would not release to the selected folder and would not move the item. In the menu pull down, I could access an option under Message saying Move to (folder) again. Force Quitting helps, but after relaunching, the behavior recurs if I try to drag and drop. The envelope icon remains stuck to the cursor, even if I go to another application. It doesn't resolve until I Force Quit again.

    Update: same thing was happening with Safari 6.1.1 when I tried to drag a URL from toolbar so could save a Webloc. Then I restarted my Mac and both problems went away. Sure hope it's permanent!

  • Crashes with moving docs to a new folder

    Adobe crashes every time I try to move a document to another folder. This never happened on the last version. Is there something I can do to stop this, or is it a bug in the new version?

  • Cant open hotmail e-mail on my new imac

    I just bought a imac, and i cant seem to figure out why I cant open e-mails in my hotmail account?

    I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it.
    I had traveled out of town (away from my ISP) and just now found out that when I travel away from my ISP I need to do the following:
    Go to mail preferences, click on accounts, go to outgoing mail service and click on that and edit the smtp server and click on the advanced tab.  Click on use custom port and put in 587.  Under authentication click on password. Now this should work the mail sending when you are away from your area (mine is roadrunner).
    Now, if you are home, you should do the above, but in the custom port put 25 and under authentication click on none.
    This fixed my problem.  Hope it helps you.

  • Moving mail to a new server

    In my case, it is somewhat simple because I have only one account. But, in general, how do you move mail from one server to another? I have tons of messages still in the imap server that somehow need to get other to the new server.
    The other sticking point is I have only one license. So I can't run both imap servers at the same time. In fact, I pretty much have to shutdown the current server just to work on the new server.
    Thanks

    hi - i just did this - found a script called imapsync (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/). you can run it using this bash script:
    #!/bin/bash
    USER=$1
    PASSWORD=$2
    1MAILSERVER="";
    2MAILSERVER="";
    /usr/bin/imapsync "Junk|Deleted\ Messages" --host1 $1MAILSERVER mail server> --user1 $USER --password1 $PASSWORD --host2 $2MAILSERVER --user2 $USER --password2 $PASSWORD --syncinternaldates

  • Moving Mail to a New Mac

    I'm sure this has been answered a bunch of times, so if someone could point me to the appropriate thread I'd appreciate it.
    My hard drive in my laptop is slowly dying (the dreaded "clicks of death"). I'm about to replace it and want to back everything up to an external and then bring it back on to the new HD.
    The last time I did this, everything came over fine except for my Mail. I tried reimporting the mailboxes and all the mail headers appeared but when I clicked on a message it was blank.
    What is the best way when faced with replacing a HD to move and then reconnect your Mail app?
    Many thanks.
