Hotmail on iPod touch

Firstly, sorry - I know loads of people ask this, but I can't seem to find the answer I want.
I use Hotmail, and after reading all the posts on the Internet, I know that changing to another email provider is not an option for me. I could forward my email to Yahoo or something, though, so that is an option, but I'm not sure how to forward it. Also, I know about IzyMail, but the paid service doesn't appeal to me. What should I do?

Unfortunately, unless you pay for the premium hotmail, it won't work, and you can't forward the hotmail to any other email address. You can use IZYMAIL.COM, which will allow you to use it for one month for free, or use the wi-fi to go to the msn site and open your hotmail, and bookmark it or put an icon on or screen with the plus sign. I think MSN are control freaks. I am phasing out my hotmail anyways, the hotmail online has problems and gmail is way better.

  • IPOD TOUCH MY HOTMAIL DOES NO LONGER EXIST

Yes since I added my hotmail account to my ipod when ever I try and sign into my hotmail address it says microsoft account does not exist. I can't login to my hotmail address that I have had for over 10 years. It's almost like it's been deleted! All my bank info crecit card info senitmental email everything is in that hotmail account . IT says this microsoft account does not exist. Yet when I sign into apple using that hotmail address it lets me sign in. I think adding my hotmail address to my ipod touch had messsed up my hotmail adddress account.  Has anyone had this happen to them. I'm wondering If I delete the hotmail address from ipod maybe it will recover my hotmail address on microsoft. Has anyone a solution to this problem ?

Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts...and you will find a place to add/delete email for the iTouch. Hope this helps.

  • How do I fix my iPod touch's problem with hotmail outgoing mail server?

I have just received a new replacement iPod touch 8Gb.
On my old model I used the house wifi network to connect to HOTMAIL in the mail app it would set the account up immediately and work perfectly.
This time, when I tried to set the account up I had a long delay while it verified account details. Then after opting to set up account without using SSL an account was generated with an error message to say I may not be able to send or receive mail.
Incoming mail is OK, outgoing is not working.
The error message told me that I needed to configure my outgoing mail server.
My default outgoing server is set to smtp.live.com and works on port 587.
I have an additional server set to 'on', which is also smtp.live.com working on port 465, which was set up when I tried to alter the port number on the default server. Still no outgoing mail.
    Any suggestions?

Followed your instructions and again, account verification failed using SSL.
I chose to create without SSL and got the following message:
'The SMTP server 'smtp.live.com' is not responding'. I accepted the details,
the email Inbox populated, and everything looks normal.
    Same error is occuring:
'Connection to outgoing server 'smtp.live.com' failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in settings>mail, contacts and calendars'
    The settings are as follows:
    Incoming mail server
    Host Name: pop3.live.com
    username: is correct
    password: is correct
    Outgoing SMTP:
    Primary server
    host name: smtp.live.com
    username: is correct
password: is correct (has been re-entered just in case)
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: password
    server port 587
I have duplicate SMTP servers listed under 'Other SMTP servers' with exactly the same details as above so it seems as if the iPod is retaining some settings even after I delete account.
Also, I wonder if there is anything I need to get the network administrator to do, because he did ask for the Wi-Fi address of my previous iPod touch could it just be a case of allowing it as a specific device on our network?

  • Any reason not to set up Hotmail account on ipod touch?

I have just purchased a new iPod Touch. My main mail account is with Apple Mail, and I have a mobileme account. I also have a free Hotmail account? Is there any reason not to set up this Hotmail account on my touch, along with my Mail account - glitches, conflicts, etc. I can live without it if necessary. If no problems, can you point me to a step-by-step instruction guide to set up the Hotmail account? Thanks!

You can use the web ... using Safari - go to www.hotmail.com - this should bring up a mobile version of the login page. Log in to Hotmail to see your mail. If you don't logout of Hotmail, but simply hit the touch Home button you will be able to recheck you mail just by launching Safari and selecting the pages icon (bottom right) and then selecting the Hotmail page. You will see a Refresh option (or you can touch the clockwise pointing arrow in the URL line).

  • Since today Hotmail is free on iPod Touch.

Since today Hotmail/Windows Live Mail is free for POP3 user's as well so you can use it on your iPod Touch or iPhone, now i can rechieve the mails on my iPod Touch 2G (16GB), But when I try to send an e-mail I always get the error "Cannot send mail - The sender address was invalid."
I already tried to change the SMTP port to "25" but I still got the same error...
Anyone already tried to set up Hotmail/Windows Live Mail on there iPod touch, and having the same problem, or a solution?
    Kind regards,
    Jeroen van Abeelen

Windows Live Mail/Hotmail has been free for a while. Only when you try to set it up with no connection will it give you an error like "You need to subscribe to hotmail plus" or something along those lines.
About sending: is it when you reply to an email? or when you add a contact then try to send to it? A couple years back I was also having similar problem using Windows Live Mail where it wouldn't send because the recipient's email was incorrect. Turns out there was a space( ) in the beginning of the contact.
When you compose a message, click on the From field and click on the email address you are sending as. You can select the correct email address from the rolodex that pops up with all the accounts you have added.
One more thing: When you added your Windows Live/Hotmail account to iPod's Mail account manager, it will fill in your email address as both sender + receiver. Verify in the account settings that your email address is correct. Just to be sure, retype the email address in both fields of the account. You can do this all for Settings on your iPod. While in setings, check the Default Account to see that your Live account is there. Also, get rid of any previous accounts that you may have partially added as incomplete/incorrect settings will prevent you from sending.

I didn't know the iPod touch was an android device.

  • Hotmail on iPhone Or ipod touch mail app!!!

Hey people. Im only making this post to help people out. After a lot of research and a lucky unxpected find, i discovered a way to access your hotmail account on your maill.app
First you need to sign up for a GMX.com mail account (completely free, and EXCELLENT)
Then once inside, you need to add a mail collector account, suck as your hotmail
(The mail collector feature in GMX accesses your Hotmail account and downloads your email messages into the mail collector folder inside of your GMX mail account.)
(Inside the iphone mail app, once you set up your gmx account to work with it, you will have access to a folder that is named: "Mail Collector" and inside will be all of your hotmail emails.)
After you have signed up for a GMX email account, here is how to configure it with the Mail app:
    1. Under Settings, select "Mail", "Add Account", "Other", then "IMAP" or "POP" and use the following settings:
    Name: enter your name
Address: your full GMX email address
    Description: GMX
    Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: imap.gmx.com (when you're using IMAP) or
Host Name: pop.gmx.com (when you're using POP)
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name: mail.gmx.com
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Advanced
Use SSL: Off (SSL only works with incoming not going, but to be sure, turn it off for both)
    Authentication: Password (both incoming/outgoing)
Server port: 110 (incoming) and 25 (outgoing)
If you selected to use IMAP, you can map iPod Touch folders to GMX IMAP folders. Test first if the default mapping works before changing anything.
To change the mappings, got to Settings>Mail>GMX.
    - Select "Advanced"
    - Select "Drafts Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Drafts"
    c. Select "Sent Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Sent Mail"
    d. Select "Deleted Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Trash"
Click on "Advanced" each time to return to the prior menu after choosing a folder

It may have just been that this was the first sync. The messages are all there, but are in reverse order with the oldest message at the top of the stack. It is neither a small nor orderly stack. It may have been because it was the initial sync and this was the order that GMX pulled them from hotmail.
Then there is the lag. I guess that you, like me, tested this out by sending yourself some messages "just to make sure it worked". How long did you find the lag between sending something to hotmail and recieving it through GMX? Right now, I'm sitting on 15 minutes since I sent one and it still has not arived in the GMX collector.
Edit: Never mind on that last part. Seems Hotmail thinks something coming from my gmail account is spam. Twice. But not the ones for blue pills, lotteries from Europe, financially challenged nobility from African nations, or the young lady that wants to get to know me better if only I would stop by her site and see her new pictures.
    Thoughts?

  • Pop email on ipod touch with hotmail?!?!?

hello all, i've just bought the latest ipod touch 32 g and would like to access my hotmail account through the mail application. easier said than done as pop completly baffles me!! is anyone aware of any walkthroughs anywhere??
also while i'm here does anyone know why every now and again all my applications start to shake like they're having a fit????? very bizarre!
    thanks in advance,
    dave.

    Hi dave,
To access your "Hotmail" I do know you will need a paid for (premium?) account, this will then give you acces to the necessary settings. further than that I'm not sure.
Regarding the "jiggling" icons, this happens when you touch and hold an icon for more than a couple of seconds, it allows you to move or delete them, press the home button to stop it.
    Regards,
    Dud.

  • Can I download Apps to my computer and then transfer to an IPOD touch 4th generation?

I'm thinking about purchasing an IPOD Touch, 8 GB 4th Generation.  I have Internet acces via Time Warner Roadrunner and my Dell Computer has Windows 7 Professional as an operating system.  My questions are:
    (1) If I purchase this IPOD will I be able to download Apps without any problems?
    (2) Is there a way to transfer these Apps from my computer to the IPOD?
    (3) Are there any good Apps for keeping track of foods (calorie content), weight, etc.?
    (4) Can I check my hotmail account for emails in my car or anywhere I may be?
    (5) I know many Apps are free; however, what are the prices for different music?
    (6) What kind of accessories would anyone recommend for this IPOD?
Any other information that might be helpful to me would be appreciated?

    (1) If I purchase this IPOD will I be able to download Apps without any problems?
Yes, AS LONG AS you are connected to a working Wi-Fi network that is connected to the Internet.
    (2) Is there a way to transfer these Apps from my computer to the IPOD?
Yes.  See here: Syncing and arranging apps from the App Store
    (3) Are there any good Apps for keeping track of foods (calorie content), weight, etc.?
Yes. Search the App Store or do some research via Google regarding google calorie tracking apps.
    (4) Can I check my hotmail account for emails in my car or anywhere I may be?
You can only check for email when your iPod is connected to a working Wi-Fi network. It does not use a cellular data connection like an iPhone or 3G/4G iPad can.
    (5) I know many Apps are free; however, what are the prices for different music?
Songs prices vary.  Any where from free to a couple of dollars.  You'll have to just look around the Music Store to get a better feel for the pricing model.
    (6) What kind of accessories would anyone recommend for this IPOD?
Definitely a case of some sort that will protect it from scratches or further damage if dropped.  That's about all I will offer though.
Any other information that might be helpful to me would be appreciated?
8 GB isn't that much storage space especially after you consider that some of that is taken up by iOS and take into consideration how storage capacity is reported. You'll only have about roughly 6.5 GB of free space to use. So if possible, I would purchase the version with the next highest capacity at 32 GB.

  • INSTALLING AND USING NEW IPOD TOUCH

Cannot install and use IPOD touch on computer. Showing up as a camera and not accepting install. Have tried uninstalling previous versions of itunes and ipod downloads. Please advise. Would like to see this work today.

I got the same problem. I created new hotmail account, dowloaded latest itunes but the "download photos" window comes up along with my wife's itunes account which immediately SAYS it's syncing with mine yet there's still none of her tunes on my new touch (thank god), and even though it's plugged into my computer and I'm connected to the internet, it says i'm not connected. Do you NEED wi-fi to do this or what!? Maybe somone can help us out.

  • Does the ipod touch sync email???

    Hi guys
I am thinking about buying the Ipod touch. I am used to syncing my email to a palm device (yes, I still use one). The folks at the apple store can not tell me if the touch can sync my apple mail inbox, so I post the question here.
    thanks
    Marco

When I fiddle with my iTouch - other than using it for listening to music - I'll click on the mail icon. I see both my Yahoo mail and gmail accounts snyc'd from the mother ship. So, yes, it does snyc your email. But I've heard that Hotmail doesn't work - only seems to be Yahoo and gmail. Hope this helps. The device is pretty wild.

It is probably a bad idea to leave your e-mail address on a public forum.
Disable your firewall and try again.

  • Newbie converting from a Palm to iPod touch - calendar, contacts, etc.

I'm a brand new iPod Touch (and Apple) user, and have the iPT 4G. I've a Palm Tx I'd like to convert data from, AND continue using the Palm Desktop unless there is something similar that will let me sync and see (on a PC) my To Dos, Memos, Calendar, and Contacts. I have searched and seen lots of postings on the Apple Discussions and the web in general about this...but they are all old and not specific to the 4G, and I'm not sure what might have changed.
Suggestions? I think I will need Outlook (no problem), but not sure what else? And can't figure out what Mobile Me is, and if I need that too?
And what app will replace my Memos???? I've hundreds of them, and they are one of the most important and used data sets for me.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

I am considering purchasing the new touch, but am slightly different in that I've been using the original iphone for years. After much deliberation and evaluating how much use I really have on the device, in addition to shopping around for OTHER phones/devices, I realized that the games, music, camera, maps, contacts, calendar and apps are really the ones I use most. Now, I am a big texter, emailer, and live online, but realized that I hardly ever "MUST have" the 3G capability. And, when I do, I become so frustrated with the internet speed that I end up turning it off and waiting until I can hit a wi-fi. So being completely honest, it's more about the entertainment--and it's not so bad being "unavailable" a little more in my life today.
So similar question, but perhaps some more details please.....
I can tell you from the experience on my phone, you really need to have Outlook OR Windows mail in order for it to work well. You can sync with a variety of other programs, but other that Outlook or Windows you are going to have to employ some third party stuff or learn to go through multiple steps to sync. And, from my experience, it's still kind of "buggy" with itunes as is. Perhaps I'm just picky, but I can't seem to like all of the functions offered in one place...(i.e. calendar, contacts, mail) as I really like Thunderbird for mail and contacts, but really like Outlook's new 2010 calendar and multiple sharing options. I can't seem to get satisfied all in one place?
Apple would have you purchase +Mobile Me+. Tried it too--it works great, but it costs $99 minimum per year. Not bad if you will be using it a lot and at multiple locations (cuz that's the real purpose--to sync with work, phone, home, etc.), but I was not, so I dropped it.
I'm an old Old school outlook user, but trying to get unhooked from the office programs so I checked out Windows Mail (which comes with my windows 7 stuff), and with Windows 7 and Itunes 10 it works great! Outlook 2010 and the other office programs this year (I thought) were a bit too "overkill" for what I need anymore (now that I'm "right-sized") so after looking at basic options, I would say Windows Live (mail) or Outlook to be the best. Also, Windows Mail just launched their beta platform for hotmail and provides you with the basic same features that Apple does, but instead of $99 for Mobile Me, Live is free...it syncs with your away computers and home stuff and all of the 2010 office programs if you still find you want that.
Hope that help you albiea...perhaps someone else can provide a review of the down side to touch when moving from the 3G. Advice?
    Thanks!
