Hotmail on Safari.

My hotmail doesnt not work on the New Safari 4 Update. I have heard other people having this problum but no one knows how to fix it. If anyone would be able to help it would be amazing! Thanks!

Adakon,
I did the same thing that you did, downloaded Safari 4 then realized that it didn't work with Hotmail. So I deleted Safari 4 and reinstalled Safari 3.0.4 just like you. I was however able to set up Safari 3.0.4 with the "Develop Menu". It is actually a check box that you need to check right below the "Proxies" settings. I didn't see it the first try. I wasn't expecting it to be a checkbox. Once you check the check box the "Develop" menu will then be in the menu bar at the top of Safari between "Bookmarks" and "Window". I am also using OS X ver. 10.5.6. The only problem that I have now is what I mentioned in my post before that you have to set the "User Agent" every time you open Hotmail in Safari. If it works for you, with my system I am using the "Firefox 2.0.0.12-Mac" selection under "Develop" then "User Agent". I hope this helps.

  • Hotmail in Safari not working since Yosemite was downloaded

    Good morning.
I installed Yosemite (version 10.10.2) yesterday on my imac and since then cannot open Hotmail in Safari (everything freezes or once I got the message 'Safari can't find server').
I was normally login in to hotmail using dub125.mail.live.com
I have already cleared my search history. And one of the Apple chat help persons told me to do a safe reboot, which did not change anything.
Any idea what I should do?
    Many thanks!

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  • Accessing Hotmail with Safari from button in MSN Messenger.

I have just bought a new iBook and have installed MSN messenger on it which I use a lot. However, sometimes when I click the link to get to my Hotmail inbox, Safari opens but keeps repeating accessing the same links that always appear as you enter your inbox and goes round and round in circles, never getting to my Hotmail, with the screen staying blank.
I know there is no issue with my personal Hotmail account as if I then open Internet Explorer I can access my hotmail. It's a really weird problem which I never experienced on my old iMac.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks very much.

    I) Go to Hotmail, Messenger, My MSN
I delete all cookies after, signing out, so I start with none, before signing in it is possible this helps to avoid the circle of errors some get. In Safari 1 use to have to enable cookies to Always to sign out of Hotmail.
    2) click on the one which best describes your account for example My MSN
for me ( this is a free Passport hotmail account )
    3) Log in to My MSN/ Messenger or Hotmail , I have to log in again to get to hotmail, after logging into My MSN.
    4) Or you can click Windows Live ID just under "Sign in using enhanced security" you can choose to: "Use the Passport Network to sign in to MSN Messenger, MSN Hotmail, MSN Music, and other sites and services! The Passport Network works with Windows Live ID. It's free to access the Passport Network. After you sign up and create credentials, you can sign in on any site that displays Microsoft Passport Network or Windows Live ID". I have not done this, so i do not know how it works.
Logging in has change at least 3 times in the last two weeks, still I have been able to log in & using Safari. Hope this helps. please let me know since this has been an on going issue for many users. I have posted to this somewhat & I would like to know if it works. Thx.

  • My Mail has frozen - can access my hotmail through Safari but Mail now has a blank rectangle on the screen and the inbox underneath it has not updated for 2 days

Mail giving problems. Small white rectangular box comes up on screen and inbox underneath has not updated for 2 days.
I can use Safari to get new messages but, since getting this laptop, when I go to Hotmail via Safari old messages self delete every so often, whereas via Mail messages stay in the inbox unless I actually delete them. Any suggestions?

Here is a photo of what I see when I tap on the mail icon to open it. It stays there for a second or two and then goes dark. Then I actually have to put my iPad into sleep mode in order to use it again. The app will NOT close no matter what I do, just shutting it down or put it in sleep and then restart  it.
here is when I tap the mail icon. It looks like an empty page but you will see the format of the mail page. Next photo is what is see after a second. And the last photo is what I see before the iPad locks up or Les blank. I hope this makes things clearer as to what the problem is. Thanks for your help, hope this helps! Diane May.

  • Help! Can't use Hotmail with Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6)

    Hello,
I'm using a 2003 Mirrored Drive Doors Pwer Man G4 operating on Mac OS X (10.3.9). To get online, I use Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6).
The problem is that I can't send nor read any emails from my hotmail account, and my computer doesn't support my Yahoo account.
I've tried installing Firefox, but for some reason, clicking on the Firefox icon to start the program does absolutely nothing.
Anybody got any ideas how I can use email without having have to drive to my mother's everyday?
Thank you very much in advance.

There may be a current or more recent version of Opera browser
which may be supported in Panther 10.3.9; few new browsers are
available for the older OS X versions. And your older Safari is not
a practical tool, since most protocols and security concerns have
passed that older one by. You may have to read some of the sites
where official downloads come from, for specific support info.
You may be able to get a Mac version of Firefox 2.0.0.16 or so,
    from here: http://mac.oldapps.com/firefox.php
If ones you try don't work, note the vintage of OS X you are using.
The older browsers are no longer seeing security updates, btw.
So, there may be some risks associated with older products.
Camino 1.6.x browser appears to support use in 10.3.9 & Later:
http://caminobrowser.org/ - not sure what your hotmail needs are.
There is GMail for email, for free. It works well enough.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Hotmail causing Safari crash

Someone posted that trying to forward or send an email from Hotmail caused a major crash in Safari. I went to check it out and can't find the post anymore! Anyway, darned if it isn't true. Completely froze up Safari. Needed a cold reboot to get things back and even then it stumbled a little. I'll notify Apple and Hotmail. Weird!

Your response does not make sense. The OP has a problem with Safari on his iPad. There are no plugins available for Safari on the iPad (or other iDevice).

  • No way to Refresh Hotmail in Safari ver. 4

There's no longer a Refresh icon in this iteration of Safari. When you keystroke Command + R instead of refreshing the screen it reverts to the last screen! Is this just a problem with Hotmail? Why did Apple get rid of the Refresh icon for the toolbar?

Why did Apple get rid of the Refresh icon for the toolbar?
It's still there, but moved to inside the website text entry box on the right hand side (looks like a curly arrow).

  • Hotmail causing safari to freeze

    Hi,
I am new to this forum do bear with me pls.
I have a new mac, and have tried to configurate the hotmail account to the mail progarmme on the mac. Three problems:
    1. All of the files over transferred over to the mac from the hotmail account and have been moved from the inbox to the deleted folder in the hotmail ( not sure if this is due to other problems with hotmail?).
    2. None of the emails in the my personal folders from the hotmail account have migrated over, just the ones in the inbox
    3. Now every time I log into hotmail to access the personal folders the Mac crashes and hotmail freezes.
Help anyone? Pleeze I need some advice, at least how to save the folders from my hotmail account.
    Thanks

  • Hotmail with Safari. I have an error "This file couldn't be added because it appears to be empty (0 bytes)".

I use Safari with OS Lion. When I try to attach edited photo in Hotmail I have an error "This file couldn't be added because it appears to be empty (0 bytes)". The same file can be successfully sent from PC with Internet Explorer. How to solve this problem?

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - Run Option #1, Repair Permissions.

  • After Automatic Software Update I Can't Attach Photos in Hotmail via Safari

Suddenly after my iMac update the software on my computer, I suddenly can't attach any photos in Hotmail when I launch Safari.
I have been a Hotmail user for 10 years now and never have had this problem before. This has been my primary account for these years and I don't want to start another email account with a different carrier.
In the middle of uploading on every attachment, I get an error saying "There was a problem adding this file to the message" The files are not too large or the wrong file type.
I am using Safari 5.0.2 and Mac OS C 10.6.4
    I am frustrated by this.
    Can someone please help me
    THANKS SO MUCH

    Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Quit Safari (Command + Q) Relaunch Safari and try attaching a photo to Hotmail.
If that doesn't help, open a Finder window select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder.
Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help either, quit Safari. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try an attachment again. If it works, then move that .plist file to the Trash.
Check Safari / Preferences - Security to make sure you either have: Always accept cookies or *Only from sites I visit* selected.
You've had similar issues with Hotmail in the past. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11580566#11580566
I don't want to start another email account with a different carrier
At some point, you may want to consider switching to Mac Mail instead of using web based mail written by Microsoft as they may not always support the Safari browser.

  • Why can't I access hotmail through safari?

In the last two weeks, I can't access my hotmail account from safari on my desk top, anyone else having this problem?

What exactly is it doing when you try to load the page?  Best thing I've found to troubleshoot safari is to follow this article:

  • Can't login to Hotmail via Safari since upgrading to OS X Yosemite

Has anyone else had a problem logging into Hotmail.com or Outlook.com via Safari (or Firefox, Chrome and any other browser) since upgrading to OS X Yosemite?  I can log in via Safari on my iPad and iPhone, but not on my 2008 iMac running Yosemite.
    Thanks.

The Canon MG series uses two protocols - Apple's Bonjour and Canon's own "canonijnetwork". Bonjour is used by the printer and scanner component, while the Canon protocol is used by the printer only. Given that you cannot locate either via the Add printer window and I'm assuming the printer is networked, then open Safari and then its preferences and select the Advanced tab. You will see an entry of Bonjour and the option to enable it in the Favorites bar or Bookmarks menu bar. Enable one of these and then close the Safari Preferences window. Now open the Bonjour bookmark (via the Favorites bar or Bookmarks menu). Do you see the MG5220?
If not, then check what IP address it is using by printing a network data list. If you then enter the IP address into Safari (for example http://10.0.1.10) this should connect to the internal web page of the printer. Does this happen? If yes, then it at least shows that you have a working connection between your Mac and the printer. If it does not connect to the MG5220 web page, then check what IP address your Mac is using and compare that to the MG. Typically for a home network the first three sets of numbers in the IP address (known as the subnet) are the same and the last number (known as the network address) is different for each device on the local network.

  • After OS 10.6.8 update Hotmail says Safari cookies blocked on Sign Out

After I installed OS 10.6.8 when I try to sign out of Hotmail I get an error message from Windows Live that says that it couldn't sign me out because my Safari 5.0.5 browser is blocking cookies. This perhaps is a false error message. I do have the Preferences set to always accept cookies and Hotmail wouldn't let me sign in without cookies being enabled. If I turn Private Browsing on, the sign off works normally. Also, Firefox works normally with 10.6.8. I have seen several other threads that are reporting cookies always accepted after the 10.6.8 update. I have tried a number of fixes: Repair Permissions, Reset Safari, delete Cookies folder, delete top sites, etc, but I still get the (false?) error message. When I boot off a hard drive with OS 10.6.7 that I cloned before the 10.6.8 update, I don't get the error message.
    Any suggestions?

Try the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
    Then restart your Mac.
You could also try deleting your Hotmail keychain. Open Keychain Access.
/Applications/Utilities. Select Passwords on the left. Delete the Hotmail keychain.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Navigate to your Hotmail account. Enter your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain.
You might want to consider accessing your Hotmail account via Mac Mail rather than using web based mail.

  • Problems signing out of Hotmail in Safari

I'm getting the following message when I try and log out of Hotmail - this is only started happening recently:
"Safari can’t open the page “http://hmit.ww.msn.com/logout.aspx?mkt=en-GB” because Safari can’t find the server “hmit.ww.msn.com”."
Can anyone help? MSN didn't seem to have an answer, they thought it was browser-related.
    Thanks.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Quit then relaunch Safari.
You may have better luck using Hotmail via the Mac Mail app instead of using web based via Safari and Microsoft.
Open Mac Mail. From the menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click: +  (bottom left side of the pane)
Fill in the details and you're set up.
