Hotmail Plus why can't I send email from my Touch

Hi all hope someone can help I have searched but don't seem to be able to find the answer so apologies in advance if this is going over old ground.
I have a paid for Hotmail account I have set it up using the correct settings confirmed by posts here and by the Hotmail help team.
I can receive emails no problem but I cannot send, the Hotmail team claim it is an Apple problem. Can anyone help or advise who/where it is I need to contact.

If you want to be able check your hotmail without using the safari browser you can use the free web app called mail coaster www.mailcoaster.com or you can sign up for izymail which allows you to check your hotmail through a pop serveer. Izymail is free for one month and then about $20/year. I believe you will have fewer problems with izymail than your hotmail plus account.

Why can't I send Emails from iPad apps?

When I am using iBooks, or Evernote, or Hootsuite, or just about any application on my iPad that allows me to Email items from within the application, the following happens when I try to send an Email:
1) I click the share button.
2) Choose Emaill
3) Write the Email.
4) Click Send
5) Hear swoosh sound and it appears the Email is sent.
However, the Email is never actually sent. I've tested this mutiple times to various Email addresses and it just isn't sending the Email. The only exception is when I send Emails from within the Gmail app, in which case they send fine.
After discovering this I took our my iPhone 5 and tried to do the same from there with the same applications. I was able to send Emails from within the iPhone applications just fine so this problem is specific to my iPad.
I checked my mail settings and didn't see anything out of order. As I said, I can successfully send Email from the iPad using the Gmail app or just sending it from within a Chrome window.
Thoughts?

I used to be able to send e-mail from within apps on my iPad. Then all of a sudden, I was unable to do it. I changed none of my settings, and my regular e-mail works just fine. One day I could e-mail from within apps, and then next I could not.
When I hit the share button within an app, I then select the e-mail button. An e-mail message opens for composition. It has the subject line filled in, but that's all. It will not allow me to enter the address and it contains no message or link. It's just dead. Sometimes I wait for a while to see if anything changes, but it doesn't.
Did apple change something without telling us?

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

I have been reserching this for days, weeks, months to no avail.....
When I try to send an email from my iCloud account in mac mail I get the following error:
"Cannot send message using the server iCloud
Sending the message content to the server failed"
Does anyone know why this keeps happing? I've tried everything. I've deleted the account in mail.app and added it back several times. I've checked that mail is selected in my iCloud, and so on and it STILL won't send from the iCloud server in mail.app.

Contact your internet service provider. They can run some tests to verify the cause of the problem. This sounds very much like an ISP issue.

Had the same problem. AOL had been working for months, stopped working for no reason. I checked the settings against aol's instructions and the username was wrong - aol state that the username should not have the @aol.com suffix but it did. The next problem encountered was that the iPad would not let me change the username under outgoing smtp settings. Answer is to do the following:
Go to settings -> mail ->aol account ->outgoing mail server.
Turn the primary smtp server off.
Create a new one for smtp.aol.com with the username without @aol.com at the end and your password.
The rest of the settings should populate automatically.

Why can't I send emails from my iphone & ipad? Everything worked fine last night, but I updated my software yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been having the same problem with one of several email accounts on one iPad2 and one iPhone5. It has been driving me crazy. I have deleted and reinstalled the email accounts more times than I can count and was ready to throw the device out the window. However I just found a post from another user who stated that they were able to solve this problem by confirming that the outgoing mail server password was corrected. Apparently they found that after an upgrade the old password was retained by the server. I had never checked this because it's a few extra steps to get into the outgoing mail server. When I did I found that it was incorrect. Once changed, I was able to send the email again. Problem solved! Also I agree that the other user was rude in commenting to you the way that he/she did. There are several threads discussing this issue. I tried many suggested solutions without success until one finally worked and I'm sharing it in every thread.
First, here is my hardware/software situation, if your's is diff, then the fix I found might not work.
iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 5. IMAP email wouldn't SEND
Fix:
Go into setting>mail>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name + Password under Outgoing Mail Server.
It seems that in previous versions of iOS, you didn't need to enter your username and password in the outgoing mail server settings, but in iOS 5, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Thanks to worapoj for being the first (i saw) to post this simple fix.

I have 5 email accounts set up on my imac. 3 are mine 2 are my partners. I can no longer send emails from my accounts but my partner still can. They all still receive mail but when I attempt to send mail I get:-

Then i'm asked to select a different server from a list. I have tried all but to no avail.
I first of all deleted my partners sky.com account because it appeared to me that this was maybe overiding all other accounts and it was no longer needed on imac.
I then deleted one of my accounts - hotmail, to see if i added it again maybe it would work but now I cant even re add the mail account as everytime i go to mail, preferences account to set it up again the initial screen comes up with my partners details including the sky.com username and when i overwrite these and try to install hotmail acount I get told that logging in failed check user name and password is correct. First,
I'd run all availiable software updates. After that, I would try removing all of the accounts from "Mail", and then re-adding them. Be aware that if your folders and such are located on your mac, and not on the mail servers, you may risk lose some information (always have a back-up).
Sometimes, when you have a number of e-mail account there can be server issues abound. I would go into the server lists and make sure that they are set properly. If you see the "use only this server" box, check it for each of them.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

Morning Allan ,sorry hit the wrong button. Thank you for responding . Meant to reply not notify you that my issue was solved . It's not . I imported all my settings via iTunes and all of the accounts receive mail as I said but can't send . Can you tell me exactly what to change with regard to my outgoing smtp. and PE the authentication ?
