Hotmail problem using mail

I have gotten my hotmail account set up to work through the mail software, however, it pulls the older email messages rather than the newest ones, and the setting is "75 recent messages" - any thoughts

I'm trying to set up mail for hotmail, you couldn't tell me how please?

We'd love to help you. You're not able to access the Mail and the Communities app, right? Can you tell us your phone model? Are you getting any error message? If yes, please provide. What are the fixes that you have tried so far to resolve the issue? Is your phone's software updated? Have you tried to reboot the phone?

New mail problem using mail 3.5

I am trying to set up mail 3.5 using OSX 10.5.6 and encountering a problem completing the new account set up. I have Microsoft Entourage for the Mac installed for this account and it works fine but I want to switch to Mail 3.5 for simplicity.
Using these same account setting in Mail 3.5 won't work. The setup wizard or guide fails trying to establish contact with the pop server but everything is identical on both mail programs. if SSL is checked, nothing happens when I click on the get mail icon. If I enable SSL (it is not enable in Entourage) I constantly get a message that the server rejected the password.
So again, with all settings identical to what works in Entourage, Mail 3.5 will not allow me to receive mail. Entourage is not running or minimized when attempting to run Mail 3.5
Can someone please assist as to why mail 3.5 will not work with the same settings as Entourage???

IWORKS 09 pages, keynote, numbers does not send in MAIL (mac) because of "This message was blocked because its content presents a potentialsecurity issue"
its a problem not only on GMAIL but also Live, Hotmail, Yahoo, and other services...
The problem is that gmail and others haved yet accepted the latest iworks 09 files. its a problem that apple can ask then to fix but its up to the gmail and others to fix it.
Solution!!!:
1 - Send it by exporting to office files
2 - Saving the files as old iwork documents
3 - Command P and save as PDF
4 - Save in icloud and send the URL
So you can still send them but have to take a bit more of your time

Having problems using mail merge from address book to word for labels

I've downloaded and opened avery labels to word and would now like to merge an address book from my mac.
When I get to the Mail Merge Manager and go to 'get list', my address book is not accessible.
I'm sure there's a simple way to do this but have not been successful googling or using the help options on both
pages and address book.

Looks like Pages '08 works the same as the previous version. You can't get data from multiple cards in one document. Try using Address Book's native label printing feature.

Receiver email encoding problem using mail package

Hi to all.
I'm facing a email problem. My company email server is workig fine with emails subject but customers email server is making some strange changes when i use special characters such as 'á' or spanish letter 'n with a tail on the top'.
I set the field 'Content_Type' of the email to 'text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1' but isn't working. If i remove those special chars, the subject is OK.
I also tried to add content conversion in the receiver email adapter in module tab but with no possitive results.
I'm using SAP PI 7.0 sp14.
Any idea of what is happening?

If you want to use non-ascii characters in email subject, then you have to apply a special notation for this, like follows:
=?utf-8?Q?Auftragsbest=C3=A4tigung?=
This is email standard. So I recommend not use non-ascii characters in email subject.

Problem using mail to send iPhoto's

Folks,
Since I upgraded to Leopard I noticed an inconveniency in mail when sending iPhoto's. If I send iPhoto's to my dad (running 10.2.8 on an old Mac) he doesn't get the pictures in an appropriate format. The first half of the mail is the layout of the pictures, but with blank "pictures", then after scrolling there's the same layout but WITH the pictures. It used to work before, so I'm thinking that something has changed significantly the way mail sends embedded content.
Unfortunately due to the age of my dad's computer he can't upgrade.
Any suggestions?

Problem Using Mail

I know this isn't really the forum for this but I don't really know where else to go. Anyway, I'm trying to send an email, but when I hit send I get a message that says that my password for the SMTP server has been rejected. I tried the troubleshooter, but that didn't help. As far as I know, my incoming and outgoing servers are right, but I know next to nothing about those.

I know that, but Mail is not a service provider. Mail is a program that sends and receives your email.
Many people who have experienced your issue have found that it has been because their SMTP relays had not been activated by their provider.

If you are using a screen reader and having problems using Mail, it might help to disable automatic page updates. Please note, this will also disable chat and text messaging within Yahoo! Mail.This problem has resurfaced from previous versions of Firefox.

I have this same problem and it occurs with other websites (like ESPN.com) too. Only I don't get the option of disabling automatic page updates on other websites. I disabled and reinstalled Mozilla and it went away for a short while. About two weeks later the same problem popped back up.

Problems using Mail application with my Yahoo account.

Mail has recently stopped working with my yahoo mail account. I've tried restarting the ipad and deleting the yahoo account, but neither has helped. the error message says the user name or password aren't correct, but I've verified that my password is correct (both that I have it typed correctly and that it is correct). I can still check Yahoo thru the web, but it's not as convenient as the mail app is. The odd thing is I have a Ymail account also (which is a yahoo product) and it is still working properly. Any way to troubleshoot this besides the usual advice of restarting the ipad and deleting the yahoo account and resetting it up?

Using Mail 3.1 with Exchange Server

First post here !
I've successfully got MS Entourage working with our Exchange Server here at work. However, I am having problems using Mail 3.1 working with the Exchange Server. For some reason, auto complete of LDAP addresses is not working. My settings are as follows for Entourage:
" User ID is users domain user name, password is domain password and domain is "ourcompany.co.uk"
Then I entered ourcompanyexch03name.co.uk in Exchange server box.
And domain1.ourcompany.co.uk in the LDAP server box "
This all works fine in Entourage but Mail will not Automatically complete addresses.
Any ideas??

I can only confirm that I have the same problem, both in Mail and Address book. It works in Entourage and it used to work in Tiger (at least in the last versions).
When using Address book I get the following console messages when I entered "boivie" as search string:

Hotmail on Mac Mail

Good afternoon everyone,
Would anybody know how I would go about accessing my free hotmail account using Mail? My original .Mac subscription ran out years ago and I have no intention of paying for the service, I also do not have a Hotmail+ account. I've tried downloading a couple of free Mail plug-ins I've found on the web, but I'm not having much success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reply. I've attempted using 'httpmail' (and freepops) before and I haven't had any success, I've entered all the hotmail accounts info as per the instructions (also my hotmail account is over 4 years old), but it doesn't work.
Is there anything I maybe missing?

Persistent S/MIME problems in Mail.app

I have had consistently spotty problems using Mail.app with Thawte personal freemail certificates to encrypt and sign mail.
I've had the certificates installed for a while, but have never been able to test them, but yesterday I got an encrypted message. I was able to read it, but whe I tried to reply, I was not able to encrypt the reply. Neither the encrypt nor sign buttons appeared. I verified the case of email address in the certificates, and verified I had private keys, for everyone, but no luck.
On the advise of another forum, I removed and refetched all the certificates, but that broke it completely and now I am unable to read encrypted messages. I ended up creating a new pair of certs and importing those. Now I can send encrypted mail, but still not read the old messages encrypted with the original certs, nor can I read new messages encrypted with my new certs. This problem is driving me insane, and I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't get this to work completely.
I have an idea that this should not be nearly this hard. Perhaps there is something obvious I am missing?

After numerous tries last year with leopard i finally got it to work:
Safari 4.0.2
Keychain 4.0.2
Open keychain and delete the old certificate.
Open Safari and go to Thawte website, choose quick login -> personal e-mail-certificates.
request a new certificate with the standard settings (choose x.509 and Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird, Netscape Communicator/Messenger).
Wait until the certificate is issued.
Go to view certificate status and klick on Navigator. Fetch the certificate.
Restart Mail.app, create new message.
This worked for me. The Buttons for Signing E-Mails appear now in Mail.app

Mail - Dreamweaver - Hotmail Problem

Hi,
I downloaded the trail version of Adobe Dreamweaver and it sort of works.
I can create a html newsletter and sent it using Mail.app... HOWEVER... The images appear in Mail and Outlook Express but they do not appear when you look at the e-mail through Hotmail online?
Most if not all of my friends use hotmail e-mails, and not a desktop application like Mail. All images just vanish! There is no sign of them being in the actual e-mail on hotmail, but they are as I've tested it by sending it to my Home and my Hotmail?
Any idea what's causing this problem? Is it Apple Mail causing problems when sending to Hotmail?
Also... Anyone know where I could get this product cheap? I'm a student and can't afford the price tag for what Adobe wants for it. Its also an expensive program for me to send newsletters to friends and family.

The same thing happened to me and probably to all other users of the httpmail plugin. I looked up on the Automagic Software website (creator of httpmail) and they mentioned that as of September 1st 2009, Microsoft has withdrawn support for HTTPmail protocol.

Workaround for Hotmail IMAP problems in Mail

Am a new Mac user, migrating from the windows world, and I would like to share my experience with solving the issue Hotmail has with IMAP.
I've been using hotmail for years, migrating from hotmail really is not an option, have too many resumes/accounts et al established with that ID to consider switching to another web presence. Yet, the problems that Mail has with Hotmail/Outlook was making me crazy. Kept getting unsecured SSL errors, inability to connect errors, and having to fruitlessly retype my hotmail password while trying to connect.
Called Applecare and the technician recommended a variety of fixes, which proved to be unsuccessful.
What did work, was going into hotmail on the web, and having hotmail forward all of my mail to my iCloud email address, disabling my hotmail account from Mail on my Mac mini and my iPhone 5S. Only issue I had was that old mail stored on the hotmail account was stuck there, so I just forwarded that stuff back to myself on my hotmail account and it was automagically forwarded to my iCloud account.
The iCloud to Mail on the Mac and the iPhone connection is flawless and transparent.
There are a couple of potential issues with this workaround that I can forsee:
     a) If either iCloud OR Hotmail have a maintenance outage/denial of service attack I will be unable to send/receive mail until they both recover.
     b) Risk of having Hotmail account close due to inactivity
          1) Either sign up for Hotmail plus at $20/year
                             ~or~
          2) Set a recurring calendar notification to log into hotmail on the web every 6 months to avoid the 8 1/2 month hotmail account deactivation.
This solution is a kludge, but it works.

Why can I no longer send email from my Hotmail SMTP account using Mail?

I can no longer send email from my Hotmail SMTP account using Mail. The connection doctor says it can't connect to the SMTP server. All the settings look to be correct and it was working fine before. I can still email using my iPhone with the same account.

Other may post it is some type of change with your ISP but the simple fact is this happen with Apple Mac Mail all the time.
IMHO Mac Mail is one of, if not the, worst mail program ever written.
Do yourself a big favor and start using some other mail program, any other Mail program.
