Hotmail problem

I have a problem with my hotmail account. I can log in and i can see that i have recieved a new mail. But if i press on the heading of the letter - as I have always done - nothing happens. And also if i press on the buttons such as New, Delete ect. nothing happens. It feels like Safari can't even understand that i have pressed anywhere. But i can move between boxes - that means that i can move to junk box. but i'm not able to do anything there either.
is it possible that i have changed some settings? or i have got a virus?
I was able to watch my mails with another computer. So that's why i think it's not hotmail's problem.

If you have an OS X virus, you will be the first.
This may be caused by system/user cache corruption. Try emptying the Safari cache and test.
Do you have another browswer available to test if this is a Safari problem? Firefox is a free download.

  • Mail - Dreamweaver - Hotmail Problem

    Hi,
I downloaded the trail version of Adobe Dreamweaver and it sort of works.
I can create a html newsletter and sent it using Mail.app... HOWEVER... The images appear in Mail and Outlook Express but they do not appear when you look at the e-mail through Hotmail online?
Most if not all of my friends use hotmail e-mails, and not a desktop application like Mail. All images just vanish! There is no sign of them being in the actual e-mail on hotmail, but they are as I've tested it by sending it to my Home and my Hotmail?
Any idea what's causing this problem? Is it Apple Mail causing problems when sending to Hotmail?
Also... Anyone know where I could get this product cheap? I'm a student and can't afford the price tag for what Adobe wants for it. Its also an expensive program for me to send newsletters to friends and family.
Thanks for any information, much appreciated
Any information or help is really appreciated.
    THANKS

The same thing happened to me and probably to all other users of the httpmail plugin. I looked up on the Automagic Software website (creator of httpmail) and they mentioned that as of September 1st 2009, Microsoft has withdrawn support for HTTPmail protocol.
If someone else has got it to work, please post here. Thanks.

  • Macbook Pro, hotmail problem

I am using a Macbook Pro.  Recently I have a seen a problem with hotmail.
All the functions work normally, but sometimes it is not possible to reply / forward emails or create new emails.
At those times I have checked and on my iPhone using the 'mail' app/function I can.  Also if I use my iPad and use hotmail through safari, I can reply / forward and create new emails.
Do I need to change any settings on my macbook?

  • Hotmail problem - sending

Mac has stopped sending mail via Hotmail though it receives (can't connect to SMTP server). iPad working fine in both directions. Is it them or me ? New problem in last 36 hrs. What can I do ?

    Hi NE21
I am in the UK and eventually found the problem was due to my BT Home Hub Router.  Not sure where you live, but of you are in the UK, this might work for you.
I found this fix below on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4604180?start=15&tstart=0
It worked for me.  If you can't link to the URL, here is the body of the text
There's an issue related to the BT homehub that is providing a hostname that is "syntactically incorrect" for several smtp server.
Here's how you can fix it.
Using your internet browser, go to the address "192.168.1.254
    - Follow instructions to reset your password if asked.
    - Then go to "Settings", then "Advanced Settings" and "home network"
You will see there all the devices that are connected or that has been connected before. It's gonna be easyer if yout computer is the only one connected.
Your computer should have a name like "unknown-xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ...
Click on this name, chose another name without any special characters, like "macbook" for exemple.
    And then click on "apply"
    - restart your computer.
    That should fix the issue.
Credit goes to vincentfromcork for providing me with the solution.

I have the exact same problem!!

  • IPad Hotmail problems

I continue to have problems with my hotmail IPad account. This has gone on intermittently for months. either I get a message saying my password is incorrect or that cannot connect to server. I have deleted and reentered my mail account and turned my iPad off and on and these measures don't help. Time usually takes care of the problem, but that isn't acceptable to wait if I have an important work related issue that needs to be addressed by e-mail. What is the problem?

I literally went in and deleted my hotmail account and reentered it and now I can send without getting an error. You might try that.
I doubt I can past the link in here but if you access your hotmail via the comptuer there are 'how to's'. along with settings you can check
    http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mobile-hotmail-pop-settings-phone-faq
What Hotmail POP settings should I use with my phone?
POP3 is a way to receive a copy of email messages in your Windows Live Hotmail inbox on your mobile phone. It doesn't sync email messages in other folders. You don't need to change any Hotmail settings. To add your Hotmail inbox, use these POP3 settings.
    Field
    Value
    Incoming POP server
    pop3.live.com
    Incoming POP mail port
    995
    Outgoing SMTP server
    smtp.live.com
    Outgoing SMTP port (primary)
    25
    Outgoing SMTP port (secondary)
587 (with TLS/SSL Encryption depending on your email app)
    Incoming uses SSL
    On (this is required)
    Outgoing uses SSL
    On (this is required)
    Authentication
Password (the password you use to sign in to Hotmail)
    Delete from server
    When removed from inbox
Leave a copy on the server
    Yes
POP3 syncs a copy of your email messages from the Hotmail server. Changes that you make to Hotmail  messages on your phone, like deleting or marking as read, aren't sent back to the Hotmail server and you won't see these changes if you check your Hotmail inbox in another email program or on the web.

  • 9500 Hotmail problems sending emails

I can log onto hotmail and pick up my emails with no problems but when I try to send one, although it appears to send O.K. nothing actually arrives. Also nothing appears in the 'Sent' folder. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

this sounds like a hotmail issue to me.
maybe you should contact hotmail and confirm what devices they support for hotmail.

  • Mac Mail and Hotmail problem

    Hello,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched with no luck yet.
I recently set up Mail to retrieve mail from my hotmail accounts.
It worked fine for about 4 days then just stopped working. It will not connect to the hotmail server.
I have tried all the suggestions I have seen during my search but nothing works.
I deleted my accounts on Mac Mail and started again but now get the message that the server "pop3.live.com" is not responding during the setup.
Why would this work for a few days then without any changes from me just stop working? Why does the server not respond now but did four days ago when I initially set it up without any problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Regards.

  • Hotmail problems

When I go to hotmail.com it tells me cookies are not enabled. I have noticed that I can view the site just fine in OS 10.4.3 using FireFox/OmniWeb and spoofing the server in thinking it's IE 6 for windows. Any other non windows configuration doesn seem to work (for me anyway). However, I am on my laptop with OS 9.2.2 using Mozilla 1.2.1 and Netscape 7 so I can't do any spoofing. One more thing... outlook express is suddenly unable to connect to the hotmail server.
This problem has been persistant for the past 3 weeks. I have tried clearing the cache for both browsers and clearing all cookies and preferences. I know cookies are enabled because I recieved cookies while loading Apple discussions. But when I go view my email, no cookies are sent at all... even when the browser is set to recieve all without asking.
What gives? I refuse to use IE...

    Hi Aaron,
I'm probably newer at this OS9 stuff than anyone else here...but Opera 6.03 is perking along nicely on my nephew's Imac, and he's a diehard Hotmail user, both directly and through the Opera Mail function.
If you're interested,do a little exploring at the Opera site, under "other OS"-they even have Opera2 for BeOS onsite!Neat,eh? Opera gives you a great deal of control concerning cookies,pop-ups and browsing history...Opera is no longer updated for OS9,but 6.03 is still much further ahead than the defaults on the OS9 disk.
I hear good things about Mozilla 1.31 as well(though the download is much longer than Opera). I have used both Mozilla and Opera on my other Box,a Linux OS.
Icab has a good rep on these forums, though i've yet to try it out(still waiting on my G3 from Ebay).I think you need a seperate mail program for Icab-but if you want direct accesss via the Hotmail site itself,Icab is the only browser than is currently supporting OS9...yep,the most recent version works for 9 and X both, how sweet is that?
I tend to give advice like some folk fire a shotgun-scattered and all over the place, but hopefully the target gets hit...hope some of it was useful.

  • Hotmail problem iphone ios5

before i pudapted at ios 5 at ios 4 i could use my hotmail account but when i udpated at 5 i cant i have tryied by exchange and hotmail nothing happens by when i tryied with google acount and a yahoo it was just fine and i have tryied the same with my friends one which we actually have the same problem with me every mail exept hotmail anyone can help me out?

The issue is with your hotmail account. Just sign in to your hotmail account on the computer and then goto account settings and then security info and delete any phone number's and alternate email address and then setup your account on the phone again. reset your phone. issue will be resolved. After setting up your email account you can reverse the changes made to your hotmail account on the computer. TRY IT. IT WILL WORK IF YOU ARE GETTING INCORRECT USERNAME OR PASSWORD error.

  • IPhone 4S hotmail problem in ios6

I could not get my mail from hotmail (Could not connect to a server) since I updated to IOS 6.
My problem was fixed after I did not add it as hotmail account but I clicked on 'Other'
Just a suggestion in if you have the same problem.

Try deleting the account from your iPhone and then adding it again as a Hotmail account instead of Other. To delete the account, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > tap the account, then Delete Account.
See this Apple doc for more info -> iOS: Hotmail, Live, or MSN email accounts

  • N95 8Gb O2 Active Hotmail problem - stopped workin...

I've had my N95 8Gb for 3 months, and have a contract with O2. I've been successfully using Hotmail (aka Livemail) via O2 Active since I've had the phone, and now its stopped working.
Upon the initial logon to Hotmail, I supplied my email address and password, and presume the N95 or O2 Active stores the details as a cookie somewhere. After that first logon, I've not been asked for email/password, and it just logged straight in everytime.
Now when I login, it goes through the usual motions, then I just get a blank white screen. Message at the top shows "mobile.live.com/hm/folder.aspx?lc=en..."
Each time I click on Hotmail from O2 Active, I get the same blank white screen.
I've been in-store, and also contacted O2 Support twice, but they've not been able to resolve. They've checked out my account/phone and there is no problem.
When placing my SIM into another N95 8GB, Hotmail works ok - I'm presented with the Hotmail logon screen to supply my email address/password.
I've tried 'Clearing All Privacy data' including Cache, Cookies, History, Form/Password Data. Still doesn't work.
I've tried searching for a Hotmail cookie in the directories, but can't seem to find it anywhere, I can only presume the cookie is stored within O2 Active(?).
Its driving me mad. O2 can't help, and their only suggestion is to replace my phone. Surely there's a simpler answer?!
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks,
    James

hi i work for o2 and have only seen this problem on one other occasion. it could be a few things causing this, the main one i would suggest would be to try changing the web access point from 'o2 active' to 'mobile web' or if its on 'mobile web' switch it to o2 active.
( if not go to web, press options then select settings, general and then set the 'access point to 'user defined' - it will then ask which point you want to use when connecting.
if this fails it may be something to do with the web settings, rather than listing a long list of settings you can get them sent to you automatically from o2 by going to:
    http://getsettings.o2.co.uk/ServeSettingsWebApp/
    and following the steps.
goodluck i know how frustrating it can be

  • Z10 Hotmail problem

Dear Support Forum, having recently purchased a lovely z10 the first thing I try to do is to set up my email accounts. My primary personal account is a long standing hotmail.com one that has served me very well over the years. The process looks simple but if I try to set up an account i get the following response. expecting delimiter: line 1 column 115 (char 115) If i try to set up a hotmail account, its the same response but with 187 in place of the 115's. The only thing that may be "different" is that I have not yet put a sim in this phone but have successfully hooked into wifi. I can browse the web and access hotmail that way. I have also successfully added facebook, linkedin and googlemail accounts. little help please.... Many thanks

I had the exact same problem, but eventually managed to solve it. I'll explain what I did here, even though I know the OP has since abandoned his BlackBerry because of this very problem (see http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-z10-f254/z10-cannot-setup-hotmail-outlook-email-v-strange-87... and http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oemail-oapps/outlookcom-on-bb10-device/75dc80b9...).
I had had my Outlook.com email account set up and working flawlessly on my BlackBerry Q10 flawlessly for over six months, until one day (today) it suddenly started exhibiting issues. For instance, draft emails would not save and I could not access my filed emails, among other issues. So I thought, "hmm... deleting and readding the account should fix the issue." But it didn't. I got this exact error message every time and method I used to attempt to setup the account:
    Expecting , delimiter: line 1 column 236 (char 236)
which I took to read as "Expecting comma delimiter..." which is a classic API issue.
Right away this sounded like a server-side issue, so to verify I created a dummy Outlook.com and set it up on my BlackBerry, and it worked flawlessly. There--proof that this had nothing to do with the fact that I was running a leaked OS. Phew.
Then I thought, "is there some sort of setting on Outlook.com's web client that I could change?" There wasn't, but then it hit me. "What if if change my password?" I logged into Outlook.com in a web browser and changed my password.
And that was it. It worked! I deleted the dummy account and went on my merry way with my fantastic Q10.
